[Q] Remove Ongoing WiFi Notification - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S 4

Hi everybody, now that we have a working root process for the Verizon S4, does anybody have any idea as to how to disable the ongoing WiFi notification?
I looked up the method for the Galaxy S3 but the SQLite database they reference isn't there (or at least not in the same spot). Not sure if that'd work or not anyway.
Thanks!

mine should come in today, and then I'll take a look

No dice!

I hate that damn notification. Verizon waits a month to release the phone and then they still insist on pushing this wifi notification. I know the SQL method was removed, but how was it gotten rid of after that was taken away? Maybe it would apply with this phone as well.

nm

I'm trying the old method for the s3 with sqlite editor but I can't find anything to disable it. There must be a way!!

Thats the same thing I already tried. jt was no use. The option is under global in secure settings. I tried changing everything that I could to no avail.

I had this too. It's Tmobile's "MobileLife contacts" app. If you have an unlocked T-Mobile (TMO) phone and are using it on AT&T or another non-TMO network it won't let the app connect to TMO's servers.
Use Titanium Backup or whatever you have that works to uninstall it (After a backup of course!).

Samsung Galaxy Note II Security Exploit

Has anyone seen this? I tried searching in the XDA VZW SGN 2 forums and didn't find any discussion nor patches for it.
http://www.engadget.com/2012/12/16/security-exploit-opens-samsung-exynos-devices-to-attack/
It's the top thread in the developer's section. RyanZA already posted an apk to patch it for rooted users, so we're taken care of.
Serious heart attack as I was reading the thread and getting an idea of the scope. Pretty much every Samsung device is hit.
Edit: first time on xda app, sorry
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2048511 is the discussion thread I mentioned above.
https://github.com/Ryan-ZA/exynosfix is the fix for rooted devices. On some devices this will knock out the back camera, but its been confirmed to work 100% for the note2

From what I understand the Note 2's camera does not break with the exploit patched - it's the S3's camera that does that.

So what r the chances of people actually hacking the phones? Or do you think this is an over hyped alarm....what does this apk do? Will it be something consuming battery in the background?

I believe it simply changes the permissions of the exploit closing the vulnerability so I don't think it'll drain any battery. I've downloaded the Voodoo apk and it worked great and no adverse issues on camera or anything else so far. Better safe than sorry and this one you can set it to fix at boot as well.

Imnuts posted saying it worked and that he was stock with a locked bootloader. It works with anything, he was just citing Imnuts as a source claiming it works.
This is all recent development for me. I wasn't aware and have been reading and trying to understand whats happening.
so with Chainfire's apk- for devices already at least rooted it will allow one to enable & disable the exploit... but for stock non-rooted devices it will essentially run an exploit to gain root then allow one to enable & disable the exploit?
Probably good I found out for myself. Yes to my question. I was already rooted and installed the apk- works. And I just saw in- how to root, in development that this is also the oneclick root method...so now I have a better concept of how scary the potential of exploiting is.

It will teach you the things you need to know to begin to LEARN to theme any rom.
The status bar is in SytemUI - after that you need to learn and experiment. Every ROM is different, sometime the files are in different diretories.
And on top of that each time the dev releases a new version you have to extract the .apk and re-theme it in case they made some changes.
It's a good starting point,
REMEMBER TO ALWAYS make a backup in recovery before you flash your themed apps, cuz even though I think I know what I'm doing, I've bootlooped them more than once!!!!
Another great tool is software called beyond compare.
Break apart the apks, put stock beside a molded stock one and see what was changed. You'll learn a good bit doing that

Okay so I been testing it for about an hour or two. GPS is fine. Data is fine. Everything is smooth. Volume rocker skip works with the different music apps I use. The samsumg keyboard doesnt have auto correct tho. I dont own anything blue tooth so maybe some other testers can confirm if it works but I dont see why it wouldnt. Also there was no boot anination. It might have been because I chose to install the Saber kernel. I will continue my testing throughout the day. Everything seems perfect so far

[mod] mj4 native hotspot! {working} (odex/deodex)

@mjcollum presents:
MJ4 NATIVE HOTSPOT! (odex/deodex)
This is a working hotspot mod.
Thanks @wwjoshdew for the how-to video!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KdC_a5_ehWY
replace services.jar in system/framework.
THIS IS THE DEODEX version.
currently based on freeza's mj4 deodex stock rooted services.jar (thanks @freeza)
mod based off JoshBeach's previous work http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2481448 (thanks @JoshBeach)
it appears the offsets had changed preventing the mi5 version from running. hopefully this fixes that. it appears the new offset is at line 6680.
THE VERSION IN THIS POST IS FOR STOCK ROOTED DEODEXED MJ4 ONLY! SEE POST BELOW FOR ODEXED VERSION
ODEX VERSION:
for those who don't want the screen animations or other tweaks,
this is a stock odex mj4 with the hotspot activated.
not a flashable zip. unzip.
works while keeping knox 0x0
just use a file explorer or adb to copy files into system/framework.
make sure r/w permission for /system is set.
rename old files or make backup first.
Edit.
If renaming the old files you must change the ending or your phone will hang.
So file.end becomes file.end.bak
Or file.old or whatever.
Services.jar to services.jar.bak is ok.
Services.odex to services.odex.bak is ok
Not fileback.end
Services.jar to servicesbak.jar is not ok and will hang your phone.
If you leave the .jar or .apk or.odex on your orig file it will still try and load. Causing a bootloop.
This can be fixed with adb. Look at pages 5/6
I'll give it a shot and report my findings.

You know, it would have been ridiculous, for you to have to download the entire rom, just for that one file. I don't understand how you can offer to help, but no one else wants to offer, just the tiniest bit of support, for something THEY requested.
