Case vs Wireless charger - HTC Droid DNA

Hello, just got the DROID DNA through Verizon and LOVE IT!!
I am looking for a sturdy case (ballistic case or otter box), but I am also wondering if these cases are compatible with the wireless chargers out there, mainly the Nokia one they sell at the Verizon stores, or any others people have had experience with. Any and all help is appreciated, thanks!

According to several videos I have watched last night the phone has no problems charging with the case still on it...

I have the otterbox defender and the Nokia charger works great.

I have the Seidio Active (the one with the kickstand) and it works on the Nokia charger.

The Nokia charger had no problems charging thru cases. When i first got it i did a test with a book to see how many pages it could charge thru. I got to a good half inch in thickness before the connection was lost.

Powerskin Case

Hey everyone,
I recently purchased my HTC Amaze and love it. I'm new to the rooting and flashing scene but having fun getting to see what I can do.
I've been looking at all the different cases and keep debating on the kraken and the powerskin. Wondering if a battery case is worth more than just buying an extra battery.
Has anyone tried a Powerskin case? If so, how was it? I looked at the Powerskin threads in other forums but want to see if there is anything specific with the HTC amaze.
Is the powerskin a good idea? bad?
Thanks!
I haven't tried the powerskin. But I did do some reading and most of the feedback was negative. Makes phone really bulky, had problems charging, pack heating up, difficulty of plugging in the micro to the phone...
The design wasn't for the amaze. It was made for a different phone but works on the amaze. Look at the back piece it has a long opening for the camera..
I went with an Anker 1900mah that came with a charger. My stock battery can last upto 16hrs but with heavy use it doesn't last too long. Anker for a backup to get through the rest of the day.

Thanks for the advice! I'm glad someone outbid me on ebay.
And I'm glad you pointed out that it doesn't really fit on the htc but it just happens to.

I tried this for the mt4g and it was awful. It was awkward to put on and it made the phone very bulky. I would recommend the D3O case from tmo or a soft gel skin. I've always used those and have always been satisfied

[VIDEO] Verizon Wireless Droid DNA Wireless Charging with a TPU Case

I've been making little videos for the past couple of days since I bought so much little stuff. I'm exhausted. Basically went to a Verizon store, slapped my DNA down on the mat and it started charging. For something to work so well out of the box, I was a little surprised. Usually just about everything requires some kind of setting modification.
What I was really looking for was a case. I hated the fact that they only had a pink and blue TPU case. The Otterbox did show up online, but neither of the two stores I visited had them. For S&G, I went ahead and asked for the TPU case to try it on. It fits pretty snug, and I have other videos on that. What I really wanted to know is if the DNA would charge with the case on. While he was grabbing the case I hovered the phone over the mat. It charged. Good sign there...
After putting the TPU case on, I tested it out and everything worked. As I went home, I was thinking that the case would probably make the charging really slow. By the end of Black Friday my phone was pretty much dead. I got home, put it on the pad, and it does charge alright. I'll try to run the phone down twice in the future to compare the factory charger with the mat.
With the Otterbox Defender Case
EDIT: Added the video of the Otterbox Defender case. A little less forgiving on the placement. Expect charging times to increase even more. Even with the TPU case it looked like the charge took twice as long as with a MicroUSB cable. This is okay if you're going to have it on the charger more due to ease though.
With the Otterbox Commuter Case
Removal of Speaker from LG WCP-700
Many people don't like the speaker because it will cycle once charged and beep over and over again. Other solution would be to get use to it or take it off the charger once it is charged.
Thanks for this! I know a lot of people asked for that. I believe this charger is from the older gen of the wireless charging standard which allows for a distance of 4mm. So most cases should be fine. Don't quote me on this but the newest revision of the qi standard allows for 40mm which will be very nice. (good for building into desks and such)
Also as a fellow owner of the LG pad, having that extra distance would be nice because sometimes the phone has to be readjusted to get it to work.
Also works perfectly with the Verizon Shell/Holster combo. I keep the shell on for the built-in kickstand and it charges without issues.

No problem. I'm going to have to look at the standards now. I didn't think I'd enjoy this feature as much as I do. That was probably because I assumed the phone had to be naked.

Yes please do keep us posted once you get the otterbox because I'm looking at getting the same setup. I already have the black TPC case but want to go to the Commuter versus the Defender.

If the Commuter was available I would have ordered it today... I did go ahead and get the Defender. Definitely need to log charge times between all the scenarios.

No problem buddy. Just has to encode now (the video). I'm glad you asked me to do it.
*update OP* w/ video of speaker removal
Defender
The otterbox defender case makes wireless charging almost not worth it but i can attest that it does work with the Lg pad from verizon.
Kind of depends on what you're goal is here. I think the wireless charger was designed for longer use from the beginning. Times when you ordinarily wouldn't go through the hassle of putting a phone on the charger, you can.

[Q] Extended Battery! Protective case anyone???

Mugen makes an extended battery (http://www.mugen-power-batteries.co...-samsung-galaxy-note-2-with-battery-door.html ). I am happy to see it, I have used extended batteries on all of my last three Samsung smart phones going back to the Galaxy S, the only problem is no one makes a good protective case for them. Anyone have an Idea how we can get a company to produce one?
I just got one for x-mas its made by zilu tech. I think att might be the only place that sells them but im not positive. You can turn the charger on and off and charge the phone and the case with one plug.

Thank you for the heads up. Looks like the reviews are a mixed bag will you do a review after you have had some time to play with it?

Please review my list of accesories for my new Xperia Ultra Z.

Hello all!
So, if the winter storms allow it, on Thursday I will have my Xperia Ultra to replace my beloved Note 2. Shame on you Samsung for the "amazing" .18" display size increase of Note 3!
Anyways, as always I like to have my phone ready with some accessories.
I am still a bit confused about this whole magnetic charger thingy so please provide any feedback, recommendations etc or something I might be missing as well! :good:
For first...a basic cheap case for normal use..unless I change my mind and get something with a flip.
Cheapo case
Or maybe this one too for now as a battery and more protective case:
Case and 5000mAh battery
Car mount:
Mount
Finally for now this one confuses me: the dock/charger thing:
Are either of this the same and do I need something else besides the doc...? Like I have read about a magnetic cable too.
Doc1
Doc2
I am still wanting a stylus but I would like some sort of case with a thin stylus that I can hide into the case...yes, I am used to my note spen
And also I was planning to get my usual Zagg screen protector but not sore sure if anyone has tried it since a search for Zagg showed no results.
Thanks for any help!
dealxtreme
I have deleted my long list of Xperia Z Ultra accessories found of dx.com/dealxtreme.com because they are utterly useless.
I ordered five things and ensured that they were not marked out of stock. A week later they sent me an email saying they couldn't send because something was out of stock. It proved impossible to respond to them: email bounced, phone numbers didn't work or were never answered, website chat didn't work. Their online ticketing system didn't allow creating a ticket to discuss order, you had to enter a SKU code and I didn't know which item was in doubt. Eventually I stumbled on a ticket type I could create (problem with paying) so I sent them a message and they admitted there were three items of the five they couldn't get! They asked for more time, after five days I told them to cancel the order with a full refund.
So, stay away from DX.com / dealxtreme.com as they are clearly utterly utterly useless.
This is the dock I got and have had good experiences with it. It is slow to charge but works well as a stand for you to charge your phone overnight.

How slow? The original DK30 uses around 2 hours to charge from 0-100%.
I see that Brando also have a bunch of X Z U accessories:
http://mobile.brando.com/shop/Sony-Xperia-Z-Ultra
they're more expensive than DX, but Brando in my experience are usually good quality and offer good customer service.
I've still not seen a car dock that I want to buy, I want one that will hold my XZU whilst its in its case, and attach to the windscreen. So far universal tablet holders designed for smaller tablets have looked like the best option.

Regarding car dock, I got one from infiniapps, really like the design and you can use it with a case, works better with a thin case. I would recommend the tablet version and then buy 2 of the phone metal inserts.

I'd stick with the DK30 dock. The maglock cable i used from DX.com wrecked my ultra. (after plugging in the magdock cable it started playing up. charging and discharging irregularly. Had to have a full mainboard replacement.) So its been 6 weeks and my ultra is finally being sent back to me after a major repair.
Link not working, can you try again?

Good call, ordered some stuff for my Z1 while some month ago. Got a mail saying everything was shipped however the tracking number went nowhere. Waited some month, nothing and tracking number still a dud. Have emailed them several times with no response. I will never order there again. Is Brando more reliable?

Hello!
I have been using the ZGPAX S5 watch. It is very powerful, not sure if you have seen some of the videos I uploaded but it runs emulators like MAME, Dreamcast and can even use the PS3 controller
BUT, the company that built it is as good it if did not exist because forget about any support from them.
So if no dev picks it up, you are not going to get much from it.
It is more of a Standalone watch than a companion to your phone. Currently only using an app called TableTak is how you can get text messages and reply from the watch.
For charging I bought the original DK30 magnetic charger. Expensive but well worth it.
As for protection, I bought some "explosion proof" glass protector for the front and a regular film protector for the rear and just some cheap plastic case from ebay just for when I am carrying it around. At home etc I just like the feeling of it naked so no cases there
Also about the watch, I returned it as the GPS was not working and right now I am undecided between buying it again or waiting for one to have ALL the features without having to fight to get things working.

I did see the videos yes did look pretty good. Apart from using a very small screen lol. I take it you use emulators on your xzu though. I think my best bet is getting a smart watch 2 at some point then. Do you actually use the dk30 dock or you taken the cable out? I can't see myself getting 1 as I always have a flip case on the phone as too worried about the phone. And wouldn't want to keep taking it out of case etc. I would like to find a genuine Sony magnetic charger though. If I do keep my xzu I would like to get some good accessories. But at present my xzu is in repair. So I have been debating about getting a HTC one max. Just not sure. I do want a good power flip case though would like the cp12. And like the look of the sbh52. that screen protector is it a glass protector and if so where did you get it from? What apps do you currently have on phone any useful/interesting ones?

Verizon G3 NFC+Qi - case & charger recommendations

I have a verizon G3 with NFC but no Qi case.
I would like to get a case or back plate with Qi. I am considering getting a Qi back plate separately and add a spigen slim armor case. There are conflicting reports of spigen case working with a Qi charger.
Can anyone recommend a suitable combination of case+charger that is known to work?
The LG slim guard is $50 total. But im not too crazy about this case.
Spigen case is 10-18, Qi back is 15-25
I don't know if this helps but I ordered a nfc+qi pad that replaced the nfc pad that is on the back cover. It took me no more that 5 minutes to do and now I have wireless charging working.
Coming from the g2 that was important. I'm waiting on the spigen case and another tpu care to come in the mail.
Adding the wireless charging not expensive and I got to keep my original battery cover.

Here's a strange story about qi charging on my g3... Purchased the qi sticker on ebay and I already had the Nokia dt 910 fatboy qi charger, so I figured I would be good to go! Not as easy as I had hoped ?
The phone would charge with my lg circle case but not my Spigen Slim Armor case (my personal favorite), all that would happen is the dreaded disconnect and reconnect ? and a few days later I tried again and it actually worked! It still works perfectly fine.
Yes the lg g3 can use qi with the slim armor case with the right charger
