im come from abroad, which using DNA with GSM carrier,
there're more than 4 carrier GSM here and 3G/HSDPA allready, i had try for all carrier but no one can't get 3G on my DNA, only get 2G/EDGE
this is 2nd DNA i received, my 1st DNA i give to my sister not get trouble on 3G GSM, the 3G working normal...
i dont know whats wrong on my DNA, the phone still unroot (because i dont know how to do it)

when i choose UMTS, i can't get 3G/UMTS signal so i unable call and data internet...
when i change mode to 2G /EDGE i get the signal, and able to call and data internet working normally...
any one happen like this???

i have try all profider on here, but no one work on 3G, just EDGE
i did factory reset but no help..
for while i used motorola razr maxx, all provider working well on 3G
i dont know this is hardware trouble or what..how i know this software or hardware trouble...?
i also used 3 provider on daily, get 3G on my motorola, but Edge on DNA..
I backup contacts, apps, etc. .. and do a factory reset, maybe this will help you,it's worth a

Sounds like your carrier doesn't use a normal band for 3g. It may simply not be compatible.
If that is the case then you will never get it to work.

Just wondering if anyone has seen or tried to develop a baseband switcher application like the one found here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1203297 so the Photon can work on all US/international CDMA/GSM networks?? Out of the box it has(CDMA 850/1900-GSM 850/900/1800/1900-WCDMA 850/1900/2100-Wimax 2500).. but no 1700 T-MO..I have a Photon but no use for it since im using T-Mobile..Perhaps unlocking and a baseband switcher would enable me to use this amazing phone on any US GSM network like my Moto Defy Ive been using this app and Itfunz for international travel and im amazed how well my phone works on almost every GSM band in the US and around the globe.....Anyone?? I am in the Dominican Republic and have not been able to find any alternative baseband versions to flash, since 3G (850 Mhz Band) stopped working a few days ago.
I´ve reflashed to stock, tried different roms and kernels, but i guess if i can swith the baseband version it might work again.

I tryied it - doens help me.... I created activity which is switch's baseband and turn it to USA gms baseband.... I lost connection :-((( and can't repair it :-((((
please help :-((( baseband switcher says "your baseband setting are incorrect. would you like to reset it to defaults?". I answer Yes and it reboots with old settings and don't work :-(
maybe somebody knows a way to reset baseband settings?

what sbf stands for? I just bought the phone and my reason to buy it was the sim card ability I would like to use it on my trips to Mexico and I would very much love to be able to nuy a sim card from a Mex. carrier and use that way.
I believe you can. I forget the post where somebody gave the name of the sim card they used...
You may need to contact Sprint to get international use activated, I believe at no charge.

So I put the latest .10 ICS leak on my phone yesterday because I can't wait for the OTA since i'm leaving soon. I downloaded the 4G on off app and am thinking I should be able to pop in any SIM card and it should work on GSM. Is the phone unlocked? Also I might need to use my normal Verizon SIM to use in Italy and Spain. The verizon reps said if I left it in it would work just fine. Is this true? I currently don't have any GSM cards to test with and I've been looking everywhere for the answer but no success. Help would be amazing.

But I thought that was one part of the ICS update. So is the phone kinda locked like I can only use verizons rates? I want to try a SIM but I don't have one
With GB or the ICS leak you probably can get basic calling and texts with a GSM cell company sim card.
With the conrom ROM you should also get mms and data to work. Supposedly everything works.
Also, I suspect gsm antenna is not in the extended battery cover, so you should use the standard back cover that came with the phone.
I personally have not tried gsm in my rezound, so the above advise might be incorrect. this is just something I am interested in.

Well, there is a thanks button you can click on.
I do not know much about Verizon's New global roaming, bit I suspect it will be expensive per minute. Using a local cell company's sim card probably will cost less for long visits overseas.
I wrote an app called HZUTILS which can also do the radio changes like the LTE on off app. My app is free, also does a few other functions, and if you click on an advertisement I earn a few cents.
The CONROM is available in the development forum. During installation one is asked GSM or LTE. no easy switching back and forth. I suggest you make a nandroid backup first with Ramon ra recovery or the touch recovery. Restoring the backup is a method for returning to LTE. Or one can reinstall the conrom and select LTE.
If you look through the development forum you will find other gsm ROMs. The CONROM does both LTE and GSM, was made from the latest .10 ICS leak, and sounds like it is very reliable.

I recall, a few months ago, reading a very long multiple page posting about people having various levels of success with stock GB and changing the radio setting using LTE on off app. People were successful with phone calls and texting, but had difficulties with mms and data.
People did strange things to get data working, and it only worked for some people. I think it involved driving the phone in a car to get somewhere with no cell signal, then back home? Not sure, as I don't recall it very well.
Then people started typing in the APN for their gsm provider. This evening, just for fun I tried typing in the APN for T-Mobile into .10 ICS leak rezound, and it would not get saved. No error message. Verizon appears to have locked out the capability to add a non Verizon APN. So, yes, I think a gsm ROM is needed.
BTW, there must be plenty of rezound owners using GSM who can more confidently give you more concrete advise. They can tell you what they tried, what worked, what didn't, and what is the best approach. I think the answer is a GSM ROM, or paying high roaming charges to Verizon.
Alright ill just try and get a sim off someone on at&t and see what happens. But thanks a lot man I hope I get an answer from someone doing it. You were a lot of help ill let you know how it goes!!

I just received the official Verizon ICS in the last hour. I am poking around looking for the global feature, since it is THE promised reason I bought the phone. Offhand, I do not see the global feature anywhere . Network mode still only shows' LTE/CDMA' or 'CDMA only' as the choices, so it seems that 'global' is still not official from Verizon in the ICS as just shipped.
The LTE ON/OFF app seems to have a few more options than when I last looked, but I've no idea what's may have changed.
I put in a tmobile SIM card and changed the settings in the app to GSM and wcdma and it worked calling and texting! It didn't have data but if you go to mobile network settings and access point names I feel like you could add the apn and be golden using data and mms over gsm. I'm Hoping this is the truth but I don't have anything to test it with

I'm on the leak from three months ago, in Afghanistan. Popped in a sim card from a shop on base and it works with no problems. Calls only though no data. I'm using the extended battery. Had to use the lte on off app to put it in gsm.

Looks like option to switch to GSM is gone. Dialing *#*#4636#*#* does nothing...
that option to show network modes when dailing *#*#4636#*#* is removed in latest RUUs and official OTA, but however you may flash any of ROMs available to get GSM

So SMS worked with the ICS OTA, both send and receive? Last time I tried 2 months ago under Gingerbread, GSM calls were fine, but could only receive SMS text, could not sent texts, and never got data to work.
I've spent over 1/2 of the last 3 months overseas, so this is a big deal to me. Even if just the calls and SMS send/receive work, I will be pleased. VZ told me the global feature is not in this latest Verizon ICS OTA, but maybe the inner workings are there and they just haven't put in the frontend and any VZ profitmaking carrier lockouts?
I am off to South Africa next Friday. Sounds like I will have to get an MTN sim in ZA and try again when I get there. Maybe this ICS OTA will have some value to me afterall. I'll try to remember to post back here, whether it works or not. If it all works, however, I'm pretty sure the posting will only be redundant info, since my screams of giddiness would be heard around the world... afterall, I've been using an old unlocked GSM RAZR flip phone when I travel.

The LTE ON OFF app still seems to allow access. However, until I get overseas I'm not sure how to tell if it is truly switching/working
I only tried receiving a text/: sorry I can't confirm sending. But if you flash a gsm Rom which I might everything works

I lost 4g a few days ago but now have 3g. I flashed many different roms and still can't get 4g back. I downloaded an app to try to fix it (4g toggle). It made 4g reappear but can't do anything on it. I believe it's a rom that did that. I played around with the sense rom 5 roms that were available. It could be one of those that did it. Not sure. I flashed and unflashed many kernels but still nothing. Can anyone point me in the right direction to fix? Also, it's not the sim card because 4g appears in the Galaxy Nexus as my backup. Thank you.

You may need to flash RUU. I have had this issue before while testing different roms. Once on the ruu, you should get 4G back.

I tried that but no luck. I'm going to see if I can get a new sim card just to see if by some mystery this works. I can't see how it works on a Nexus with 4g but not the device. That sounds like something weird.
This happened to me on my old phone and I called verizon and asked them to do a dmu reset and then it came back.
Try that and hopefully it may work otherwise get a new sim card.

Remember that HSDPA is not 4G but a very accelerated 3G data network. That may be why your Nexus show's HSDPA but your DNA will not register 4G. LTE is 700 while HSDPA is a more broader spectrum. Are you using a TMO Sim or a Verizon Sim?

I'm using a Verizon Sim. I will call them first and have them do a DMU reset for me. If that doesn't work then I'll get a new sim card. Thank for all your help folks. I'll let you all know which one worked.

Make sure you aren't setting you preferred network with the 4G toggle to LTE only. It would need to be LTE/CDMA or LTE+cdma+evdo

I replaced the sim and it worked. Thank you guess for all the help.
I'm wondering if I'm the first guy on earth experiencing this problem.
I got an AT&T unlocked HTC One (M7) in the US and brought it with me to Brazil. I introduced the SIM card in it and it worked perfectly for phone calls. However, I can't get the internet access through the network. Brazil only works with 3G at the moment.
I called HTC and they told me to dial *#*#4636#*#* and change the settings for the network under "set preferred network". They told me there would be no guarantee this would work, but I should try.
I tried all the options from WCDMA, CDMA, GSM Only and so on and still could not get the mobile data access.
Right now, internet works only with Wi-Fi. So, he said that I could try finding help on XDA Developers.
So, is there anyone who knows what I should do next?
I wonder if rooting would resolve it, but it seems pretty much a device problem.

Make sure you have a 4G sim and make sure you are in a 4G area
But also, are youtalking about hspa+ or LTE?

take the same sim card in some local 3g andorid phone in brazil and try again .to make sure your sim card support 3g network , and you say you can not access network by your phone. i doubt if you have a data plan .maybe you should take a phone call to your carrier to check the data plan of your sim card

4G is hspa+ ... it is a faster form of 3g but still it's 3g
4G and 4GLTE are not the same thing
I recently bought the cell phone in US and am visiting India for a couple of months. When I tried using the GSM sims of both vodafone and airtel in in India I wasnt able to make any calls or rceiev any sms, despite of this being a WORLD PHONE.
I even rooted my device and by installing the APN MAnager I was able to install the Vodafone settings and to my surprise
Was able to get its 3g/Data services working.
However the Voice or the sms is still nit working.
The signalbar is showing just fine and so's the data connection symbol. However with the gsm sim in I keep gettin this NON VERIZON SIM ERROR icon on the top left.
Under the settings>MOBILE NETWORKS ive tried changIng them to both GLOBAL and GSM but still no luck yet.
Can anyone help me out with a network/sim unlock method, similar ti the ones avaialable on the tmibile and other phones.
Pretty sure the voice still uses CDMA. I believe that Verizon still only uses the LTE/GSM for data.

If thats true, then it wouldn't truly be a global phone now would it? GSM will work for voice, but you still need verizon's permission. It should work with a verizon sim, but you will pay through the nose. Now I thought the SIM was unlocked but I could be wrong. Also, even if it is unlocked, it still needs to be compatible with the network frequencies. I don't know what frequencies the VZW S4 has but you can google it.
This being a Dual Band mobile These are the bands that it supports..

Also on googling I came across some posts which said the people have managed to use there gsm sims in europe n korea and were able to get the voice n sms. For data they too had to play with th APN..
So what I am tryin to make out from this is we don have a solution to get the voice n sms working on gsm network

I used my phone and put in a Straight Talk (AT&T) SIM and it works with data and voice after manually putting in the APN. If Verizon phone works on AT&T network, it should work with any network out there provided that the bands are supported by the phone.
I was under the same impression, as it worked for me too when I used the tmobile(gsm) sim with it. I was able to make calls only and data was restricted.
Where as with Vodafone IND its the other way round. Am not able to make/recieve calls or sms but data 3g is working just fine.
Confused what could the problem possibly be.

If rooted, you can use Titanium backup, and freeze 'Setup wizard'.
What good would it do if I freeze the setup..how do you suggest I proceed further after freezing..?

I recall needing to call verizon and get an unlock code for my old droid 2 global so that I could use non-verizon global sim cards in it. I believe you just needed to be a customer in good standing for at least 10 months, and could only do it once a year per line, or something.
Edit: A quick search showed a post claming it is already SIM unlocked, so never mind!
Since only my Data is working on my VZW GS4, that too after rooting and installing titanium and apn Manager.
Just wanted to confirm if I am thinking in the right direction, Is it possible that I may flash the Stock Rom for I9500(international Version) in my vzw GS4, and it would work with any international carrier around the world, cos currently am only able to use the Data/3g and Neither Voice nor SMS is working out here for me for GSM carriers like Vodafone and Airtel.
Id really appreciate if anyone can help me lookup a workaround for this..
I just made to run my port of Android Revolution HD 2.0 for i545 (I was porting it from i9505). Everything is working, except CDMA-networking. It's multilingual as well. If anybody wants - I could give it to test. I asked mike1996 for permission to port it, so it is permitted
