How to get warranty? - AT&T HTC One (M7)

So I just traded my iPhone 5 for and HTC one, I'm not the cover type of guy. So I put on it a ghost armor protector, but wanted to know if there was a way to add warranty to it ? Specially accidental damage protection
Sent from my HTC One using xda premium

That accidental damage plan has to be added to it when u buy it. I'm pretty sure
Sent from my C6506 using xda premium

you can add it only when you buy the phone from AT&T but it has a 200 deductible
I'd suggest squaretrade or one of the other 3rd parties.
I AT&T warranties their branded phones for 1 year no matter where you bought it from. But doesn't cover breakage from drops, getting wet etc.

You have to make a transaction to get a warranty with them along with most if not all extended warranty plans. Here are two ways you can get a warranty.
1. If the person you traded the phone with had purchased the phone using a premium credit card that doubles your warranty for FREE, they can transfer it over to you as premium credit cards double the manufacturers warranty and "gifts for others" qualify as well. Not all credit cards are premium ones.
2. If they purchase a square and trade warranty for you since they are the original owner, they can transfer that warranty to you as it is tied to the IMEI number.
But if it was a trade with someone you never interact with or will ever see again then I don't know if any other way to help you.

He bought it from att directly I probably will never see this person again

He is the sole person that can help you get a warranty with Square and Trade. Trust me, I have 2 square and trade warranties and have had 2 other ones in the past. They will require you to file proof of purchase if a claim is submitted. Buying a warranty without this proof of purchase will waste your money.
Similarly, these are the pros and cons of purchasing things off of craigslist.

Depends what you want fixed
just the touch screen digitizer i guess =(
they won't warranty you for that, you need insurance. if not, go buy a new digitizer and replace it yourself.

There is usually a deductible on that still, you are better off (as others suggested) hitting amazon or ebay and buying the screen and replacing it it is pretty easy.

well i think you're still payin a $175 deductible or something ridiculous, so you may as well just replace the digitizer yourself.
It's a $125 deductible. Even if you decided to file it on insurance tell them you lost it so you don't have to send it in. Keep the old one for spare parts or fix it one day and sell it.

new screen+digitizer is $30 on amazon.
AT&T is a $50 insurance deductible. Don't know where the high numbers come from which people are posting. I have had many phones replaced on insurance given I have 5 on my plan, 3 for the kids.

Did you go to a store or call the warranty dept? I just read a post in another forum where someone paid $100 to exchange a phone, and she should have only paid $50 if she called warranty dept. I'm calling them now to ask.

I used phoneclaim.com.
I stand corrected. My apologies. Business care told me when I bought this phone they should have told me the replacement cost is $125. Nobody in store mentioned it. Par for the course with AT&T I guess!

There's 2 tiers
Regular phones = $50 deductible
fancy smartphone = $125 deductible
I forget when they implemented it...within the past year i think. It used to be all $50.

What insurance do you have on your SGS2???

I'm trying to figure out what was best in terms of insurance on the SGS2. AT&T is like $5.99/m I believe and requires a $200 deductible. Best Buy (where I got the phone) is like $9.99/m a month w/no deductible. Are their any more options and which are you guys using. I'm bit of a klutz and possibly a misplacer at times lol...don't think I would dish out the the retail for another one...thanks in advance!!!

Squaretrade offers warranties with ADH for a one time fee, its $125 for Android phones if I remember right, but you can usually find discount codes to get it cheaper, its a $50 deductible.
Sent from my Toshiba THRiVE using Tapatalk
Insured with squaretrade for about 3 years. Usually can find 30% off codes. Bought my GS2 with a claim on my Infuse 4G. I guess they didn't have parts yet so they sent me $599.99 and took longer than 5 days so they refunded what I paid for the warranty as well.
There's a company out there that covers lost/stolen phones but I don't remember the name
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I777 using XDA App
I choose AT&T since it cover lost/stolen, that's my primary concern that I will leave the phone somewhere accidentally and forgot about it. Even though the deductible is $200, it beats paying $500 for anew one
OK thanks guys...squaretrade sounds kinda neat gonna look into it...but the Best Buy might be the best move because its automatically deducted from your account every month and it also covers lost/stolen/broken/water damage...and its no deductible and they give you a loaner until they get your claim filled...I had some Best Buy coverage on my Captivate I believe but the plan doesn't seem like the same one...Idk...but these devices are getting more and more costly and I just want to make sure I'm covered. It would suck to have anything less than this GS2 right now especially due to negligence. The att doesn't sound bad theoretically to me because its on my bill and I know I could possibly apply it to getting an upgraded device in the future if I ***** enough lol

I don't have insurance, but so far all the phones I've had haven't gotten damaged or lost, aside from my first 3GS (I had 2). It was lost, didn't have any tracking on it, so I lost it forever.
The only "insurance" I have is Cerberus. It's a cheap, one time fee of 6-7 dollars USD.

So true. Had my Captivate well over a year and the only time I replaced it was when I had hard bricked it...and it was covered under the AT&T warranty (since I just told them it wouldn't turn on anymore). I kept it in a Body Glove skin which was great at shock absorbing...when I finally sold it it had no scratches or blemishes at all. It also was heavier than the SGS2 which helped me keep up with it in my belt pouch. This phone seems a lil fragile tho. I ordered a few rubber skins off Amazon and I plan on doing a little stress testing with each to determine whether or not I should even bother with the insurance at all.

If it's a reproducible problem you might be able to get out of restocking...if it's intermittent, probably not. The fee is $50.

It'll be a $50 fee for any exchange unless you can reproduce the issue and are exchanging for the same phone. If you have issues they will exchange it for the same model with no fee charge. If you want a different model, then a fee will be charged. Choose wisely

I am a RSA in a T-mobile Corp Store. From T-Mobiles return/exchange policy there is a $50 fee for return/exchange for most smartphones. Some of the smartphones have a $75 fee like the Note 2 and the Iphone 5. The Manger has to override the restocking fee and most mangers will not override it unless you can show us the problem in the store. There is no known issue right now about reboots in our internal system. I am not saying that it isn't a issue but I have yet to see any HTC One reboot that I have sold. Most of the time if you want to exchange the phone for the same model the fee is removed. If you want to change to a different phone or just do a full return the fee is almost always charged unless we see the problem.

T-Mobile also replaces your phone for one year (refurbished), or if you have the insurance bundle they will always replace it. They send it next day air, then you return the defective phone. It's $5 if you have insurance or $25 if you don't.

Its what we have been told when we tell customers. Its pretty much just like the new PHP costs. If you get PHP for your phone and the full bundle is $11.99 your phone most likely has a $75 restocking fee. I am sure it is because of the cost of the phone. The Note 2 is a $700 phone where the GS3 is a $500 phone. I know the HTC One for PHP is $11.99. We were told to put the $75 restocking fee sticker on the phone for customers to know. Also if you look your re receipt it talks about it there as well. I think T-Mobile calls the $75 ones super phones where the $50 ones are called smartphones.

Are they offering open enrollement for phones not purchased at BestBuy?
Verizon is and $110 would be the cheapest way to get a new phone replacement.
I bought my Note 2 on ebay last year for $200 and cracked my screen with no warrenty.. called Verizon they have open enrollement right now. Only question I was asked was whats wrong with the phone?"screens cracked" New one in the mail next day..cancel the insurance afterwards if you think it's a rip there's no contract on insurance.
I've never dealt with BestBuy so maybe they can fix it right now cheaper then $110

This. I bought the full assembly (AMOLED+Digitizer+Metal Frame) from this guy:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/191076189569
And followed this tutorial (there were some small differences since he used a Global N2):
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UT-2zrZ_aNo
With some patience and a mini-screwdriver I was able to bring a Note II to like new condition. If you get the full assembly with the frame you should be able to restore the phone to near factory state. I definitely wouldn't try replacing just the glass, or even glass+digitizer without the frame, there's too much risk and you're never going to be able to get the adhesive just right.
@funnyperson1 I thought you had a cheap fix for people with cracked screens it's the same price to have a professional do it lol
Heck... I seen a sweet looking mint VZW SCH-1605 - stuck in a simple bootloop on ebay sell for $150 today free shipping
Sadly there is no cheap way on the note 2. I mean if you wanna risk doing just the glass and curing loca glue then yea.

roflcopterssoisoi is right, there isn't really a good cheap alternative for the Note 2.
You can replace just the glass and reglue yourself for $30, but it's risky and probably won't come out right (at least I know it won't if I do it).
You can get a professional to replace just the glass for around $125 (that's what MobileTechVideos charges)
For around $80-123 you can replace the lcd, digitizer, and glass but that still requires melting adhesive, prying, and hoping you don't mess up.
For between $120-150 you can get lcd, digitizer, and frame and replace the components yourself. This is what I did and it was pretty easy, hard to mess up.
For $200+ you can have Samsung, MobileTech or someone else replace the screen for you.
For me the decision was easy because the digitizer and amoled were completely dead, otherwise the MobileTechVideo repair for $125 is appealing. Still, for a couple bucks extra and an hour of my time I like the idea of having a like new, non-damaged assembly.
Yes almost all the options are expensive, but a working Note 2 goes for $300+ on Swappa and eBay. If you repair it and resell it, you'll probably get your money back. You could probably repair it, use it until the Note4 is released and still get your repair money back.
If you had another phone to use you could even sell the parts for a cracked Note2 for more than $200 total. The motherboard is going for $150-180 on eBay, selling the cracked screen and other parts may add up to $100+. You could certainly get enough to buy the bootloop N2 and fix it via Odin.
