Warranty Replacement? - AT&T HTC One (M7)

For those of you who received warranty replacements, for whatever defect or malfunction, how did you keep AT&T from sending you a refurbished device?
Sent from my HTC One using xda app-developers app

Are there refurbished devices already?

Apparently. And so they are those out instead of a brand new one for warranty cases. I'm pissed. I paid for a brand new phone and as a replacement get a refurbished "ATT certified like new". Even though they charge less when buy a refurbished phone and you only get a 90 warranty on them.

I feel the same way about it as you. Verizon did that with my 10 day old note 2. I however havent had a single issue with any of my replacements over the years. And if u have atnt copy your orig receipt for you samsung or htc or whoever should still warranty them like normal.

Squaretrade warranty?

Has anyone here considered purchasing a warranty through squaretrade?
The phone, absent of a carrier subsidy, is quite pricy.
In the case of an untimely demise, I assume that you, like I, would scoff at the idea of going to your "bad flash" backup.
Squaretrade has, iirc, a 2 year warranty (accidental damage included) for $90.
Has anyone used squaretrade before? Any other suggestions or ideas?

Where are you located? If it is in the US, then Squaretrade will not sell you a warranty on the UK version of the S II.
Yeah I'm in the US. That's interesting, why would it matter to them? Replacement issue?

I can't find the email reply they sent, but it was something about it not having a Samsung USA warranty to start with. I thought it was strange because their website talks about gray market phones so I figured buying from an authorized UK seller would be no problem. They replied relatively quickly, so you could email them and ask.
I also sent an email to Handtec UK asking them about warranty. I asked if the UK warranty would apply if phone shipped to US and if I needed to send back to them or Samsung UK. They replied that I should check with Samsung US to see if they would honor it and if not then I may need to send back to UK. So they really didn't give me a good response.
Now I am either going to wait to see if AT&T announces a launch or maybe check out the HTC Sensation on Tmobile.
Thanks for the heads up. I'm gonna try and find out from Samsung USA what the deal is. That's something I never even thought of prior to ordering with Clove.
That Samsung announcement today was for the Infuse 4g coming May 15.

Will SquareTrade cover the phone if it was bought from Expansys-US? Technically it's bought here in the U.S, but then again Samsung probably wouldn't honor their warranty.

Beats Warranty..

Whats your guys's experience with sending your beats out for replacement by HTC?
How long does the warranty last?

I got my Rezound used. Never had beats to start with

Pretty sure it's a one year warranty. I had no issue exchanging through HTC a couple months ago. I was even late sending in the old pair, they emailed and called a couple times, but never got charged by the time I got them sent back in.

how do you start the warranty process?
Just mailed mine off for warranty replacement 2 days ago lol. Still had a couple weeks left under the 12 month warranty. Just call HTC customer service and tell them what's wrong with the ear buds and they won't hassle you at all. They'll email you the address to send them to and details regarding the process.

What this guy said. I got the number off the HTC USA website.

Thanks guys =)
Use HTC's US website and contact customer service I have exchanged my headphones 3 times they short a lot. In my opinion once the warranty is out on them buy skull candy headphones they sound as good or better the full metal jackets are fantastic and are much less expensive but build quality is much better than the beats. Skullcandy also has a lifetime warranty and do a wonderful job of exchanging them if they short out or any other manufacturer defects. But use that beats warranty till it dies then get the SC's

I had my phone replaced under insurance with a new model about 4 months ago. They replaced my Beats headphones as well, and now I'm in the same boat with broken ones. Does anyone know whether my warranty will hold? I am just over a year since the original purchase. Also, if this is something I contact HTC about and I've unlocked my bootloader (obv voiding the warranty through HTC), will they still honor it? I would imagine so, but if someone has been here before, I'd appreciate some feedback.
ActuallyI am receiving a replacement phone today.. will there be replacement buds as well? And I'm wondering how you got a new replacement.. I was told I could only get refurbished device!

I justed called HTC to replace my beats and I now have to fax in a proof of purchase receipt showing all my info, payment, date of purchase, IMEI, etc. Anyone else have to do this? I purchased my rezound new from verizon on 4/02/2012 so it is still under warranty.
I just received my replacements yesterday, all I had to do was give them my IMEI and they verified I was still under warranty (had a day left on my warranty), and they shipped it out no problem.

I called HTC cust serv about the same issue. My Rezound is a refurb that I got through Asurion when I lost my DInc2. Though the phone was a couple months out of warranty, they went ahead with the replacement. The only difference was that they had me send the defective buds in (making sure to include the pouch/extra pads) before mailing out the replacement.
At first, I called Asurion about this, and they promptly sent me some $10 headset.

That's weird, I didn't have to send them the pouch and extra ear pads. I just sent the earbuds alone and they sent me replacement earbuds with a pouch and extra ear pads.

Anybody ever went through HTC for repairs?

The evo lte on my line died about a week ago and I'm thinking about going through HTC since the phone is only 3 months old. I don't have time to stop at the sprint repair center near me and I honestly don't want to make time. Their new manager is a witch and I swore I'd never go back. Just would like to know a bit of htc's procedure (like do I have to come out of pocket) before I call their support number.

I just had my screen replaced through HTC's warranty because I didn't have insurance on the phone. The only thing I paid for was shipping. I got the phone back in about a week.

How to get warranty?

So I just traded my iPhone 5 for and HTC one, I'm not the cover type of guy. So I put on it a ghost armor protector, but wanted to know if there was a way to add warranty to it ? Specially accidental damage protection
Sent from my HTC One using xda premium
That accidental damage plan has to be added to it when u buy it. I'm pretty sure
Sent from my C6506 using xda premium
you can add it only when you buy the phone from AT&T but it has a 200 deductible
I'd suggest squaretrade or one of the other 3rd parties.
I AT&T warranties their branded phones for 1 year no matter where you bought it from. But doesn't cover breakage from drops, getting wet etc.

You have to make a transaction to get a warranty with them along with most if not all extended warranty plans. Here are two ways you can get a warranty.
1. If the person you traded the phone with had purchased the phone using a premium credit card that doubles your warranty for FREE, they can transfer it over to you as premium credit cards double the manufacturers warranty and "gifts for others" qualify as well. Not all credit cards are premium ones.
2. If they purchase a square and trade warranty for you since they are the original owner, they can transfer that warranty to you as it is tied to the IMEI number.
But if it was a trade with someone you never interact with or will ever see again then I don't know if any other way to help you.
He bought it from att directly I probably will never see this person again

He is the sole person that can help you get a warranty with Square and Trade. Trust me, I have 2 square and trade warranties and have had 2 other ones in the past. They will require you to file proof of purchase if a claim is submitted. Buying a warranty without this proof of purchase will waste your money.
Similarly, these are the pros and cons of purchasing things off of craigslist.

Warranty services.?

Will AT&T warranty services replace my phone for a hardware defect?
I've had my phone since release and the glass is raised on the left. At first it was something I could deal with but it actually seems to be getting worse. I feel it every time I pull down for notifications.
It's been too long to get a replacement from the store I bought it from so I'm wondering if AT&T will help me.

I am pretty sure they will. Call up AT&T and complain about it. They more than likely will send you a replacement unit.
Well it took an hour on the phone with AT&T in conjunction with getting HTC on the line, but I'm getting a new phone.

Yeah apparently HTC has had a ton of these hardware defects and warranty covers all of them. A rep said that if you notice one, call right away.
Ima call tomorrow. The gap on top has progressively gotten worse since I've had my phone.

start by asking is manufacturer defects are covered by warranty. Describe the situation.
They said I have to send it into HTC to get it repaired instead of getting a new phone.

One more time, since it seems it's never clear:
Warranty is for DEFECTS, like the gaps, raised screens, etc.
INSURANCE is for **** that you do to your phone, like a broken screen, liquid damage, fire, theft, etc.
AT&T covers your phone with a 1 year warranty regardless of if you have insurance or not. The insurance extends the warranty past the 1 year though.

I don't think you should do that. You said you called AT&T, but I was told by the repair department that going to a store and reporting your problem would get you a new phone.
That's not always the case. Every time I've gone to the store after the initial return period has expired, I'm told I have to deal with warranty services. In fact I have had sales reps in the store call them for me. Store reps have little to no power unless you are dealing with a store with a repair center on site. There isn't one of those within a hundred miles of me, so I just call warranty services.
Btw. New phone arrived yesterday and it doesn't have any problems.

Absolutely not. Maybe if it's a repair center (which are relatively rare), but outside of those shops all AT&T warranty work is done over the phone.
