[Q] Galaxy S2 won't start after trying to install CM 10.1 - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi everyone,
Like always, I've to have a few troubles when I'm trying to upload software in my mobile... Well, the thing is, I have a Galaxy SII i9100 with android 4.1.2. I tried for the first time in my life installing a ROM (I'm root and have CWM). The first time I tried installing the last software of CM 10.1 for the galaxy S2 (cm-10.1-20130602-NIGHTLY-i9100.zip), but I couldn't for some signature errors. I wiped data and it didn't work neither. I found out that the problem was cause by the version of CWM, so I installed the last Phil Z edition of CWM (Phil Z Touch 4). Cool! No more signature problems..! Nope, but now I've another one. This error says: "E: Error in /sdcard/cm-10.1-20130602-nightly-i9100.zip" (Status 7) Installation aborted".
I kept reading forums and it said it could be a "PhilZCWM-thing", so I thought I could try installing the "Siyah" one. But I restarted the phone so that I could put the Siyah zip inside and the phone won't start. It is stuck on the Samsung logo. You've any idea of what I could do ??
P.S: I tried to do it with Odin but it doesn't recognize the device cause it doesn't appear COM in yellow. The CWM is working. Regards and thanks in advance...
P.S.2: I managed to install the CWM Siyah, but it keeps appearing the same error...
EDIT: I used the original firmware with Odin and now the phone is back. But I still don't know how to put Cyanogenmod on it..

First of all, calm down. Please tell me what ROM and kernel are you using now.Make a screeshot of settings.

With some kernel like Dorimanx, in recovery mod, usb storage could work and your pc can "see" your phone.
Have you got an sdcard ? You will can download a new rom and copy to sdcard with your computer. After, plug in the GS2 and try again to install after do all wipe (data, dalvik, cache). You can fix permission after flashing.

Ok well. As I just told, my mobile is working again... So I can transfer files again. Here it is the info you guys need:
Mode Nº: GT-I9100
Android Version: 4.1.2
Baseband Version: I9100XXLS8
Kernel Version: 3.0.31-889555 [email protected]#3 SMP PREEMPT Thu Jan 31 KST 2013
Compilation Number: JZO54K.I9100XWLSD

}
EDIT: I think I just solved the problem... In the web page of CyanogenMod they've uploaded two files. One of them today, and the other one yesterday. With the one from yesterday it's working..
EDIT 2: The yellow triangle appeared, so I tried to use Odin with the original software again cause I think I know how to solve it. Now the logo of Samsung keeps appearing and the phone doesn't start again...just GREAT pfff
EDIT3: Wiped cache and data and now works.. let's see how this goes.. (Apparently the phone doesn't connect to the wifi signal, this is new )
EDIT4: Finally the mobile is working again but I cant manage to install PhilZ Kernel for the mod. I've tried this from the SC card but now I get the error "failed to verify the whole-file signature". I think the solution is again setting the kernel PhilZ or Siyah with Odin, and then getting rid of the triangle with an app, but I would like to avoid flashing again. Any idea..?
EDIT5: I finally flashed it and I got CM, but when I got in there, there were a lot of things missing in the status bar and I didn't have any google apps despite having installed them. I'm just sick of CM, I'm back to v4.1.2 and that's it. Thanks for everything...

Kernel panic upload problem.

Hi guys!
I've got a problem with my sgs2. When I tried to flash a rom (turbkey, xwlp2) on the screen apears "kernel panic upload mode". I only can go to download mode. The ones which works is xxlpq (the first which I installed). I tried all wipes, ultimate kernel cleaning script and superwipe but nothing can solve this problem. Someone help?

where are you trying to install the ROM from, CWM? and when is the screen turning into the said upload mode and how its looks like?
Yes, I flashed it by cwm. It appears when phone is rebooting after flashing rom. Everything was good. Rom was flashed successfully but this image appeared. On upper lef corner is red inscription [ RST_STAT = 0x20000000 ]and android beast. And also inscription KERNEL PANIC UPLOAD MODE.

somebody had posted like this on my below thread...
"sounds like kernel panic but as far as I know, you shouldn't be able to get there with any button combinations, sometimes reboot fixes this, sometimes wipe"
so try with a wipe.....
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1512299
But how to do wipe when I can only go to download mode?
So I should flash the working rom( xxlpb ), then wipe cache and then flash not working rom and pray and again flash and wipe and flash to infity (or when rom will work )?

[Q] Huge problems. (Doesnt boot, kernel panic)

Hey.
My friend has a galaxy s2, GT-I9100
It had the stock rooted ics rom on it.
He had some problems with it and I decided to flash resurrection remix on it.
I did a full wipe( wipe data/fact reset, wiped cache, wiped dalvik cache and formatted /system)
Then I installed the rom. It flashed succesfully. So I rebooted, and during the boot i got the kernel panic thing.
I couldnt get into CWM anymore.
Then I flashed a stock image via odin.
The phone rebooted when it was done. It cant even get past the "gt-i9100" screen...
So then I tried installing cwm via odin.
When entering recovery, I get a android poppet with a loading bar under it. The loading bar freezes.
See this pic.

Probably Bricked My YP-70

Hi Everybody,
I was trying to install a new version of cyanogenmod that held kitkat, worked, but heres the problem. After installing the new rom i wanted to put a different kernel. This specific kernel I wanted was not compatible with kitkat, but i wasn't reading, so when it was booting up it was stuck at the Galaxy S Cyanogenmod booting screen. I turned it off and put the device in cwm recovery. I was going to put the right kernel for the device but the SD wound't mount. I looked for a solution, which led me to odin. When I started flashing the status was frozen at nand start write. So I stupidly unplugged it, so now I am greeted with a Phone+!+PC please help me!

Without seeing a picture of the screen, I'm going to have to assume the screen is a blue color with a picture of a computer on it.
If so, that's not a problem at all. That screen is basically the same thing as ODIN/Download mode.
With your device on that screen simply replug in your USB cable and reflash with ODIN.
If you could provide a picture of the screen, I could definitely say for sure that your device is good to go, or not.

If you're talking about this above, then do as Higgs_Boson said above. This is just a force download mode, and happens when you improperly flash something.

My friend's S3 seems bricked. Can I get it back to life?

Hello there.
A couple of months back my friend was having trouble with her S3 and she had to reset e every couple of days. So I instructed her to install Cyanogenmod via the official installer. She did and it worked.
A few days back she told he it won't update and I guessed that it won't for the lack of CWM so I told her to get Rashr from the Play Store and flash a custom recovery, which she did successfully. Even though the phone wouldn't update anyway.
So last night she told me that her phone stopped booting up completely. When booting to recovery and trying to flash a zip through CWM doesn't work because it keeps telling her "E: no sd card" or something like that. Now she doesn't have an SD card, but my understanding is that this refers to the internal storage too. So why can't the recovery read it?
Furthermore I tried to get her to flash another recover via Odin, but Odin fails to flash

To be honest I'm not sure if it's on or not since the device isn't booting up anymore.
How can I flash the stock Rom from recovery when it can't even see the storage?

You can't you need odin to flash any stock rom not a recovery.
Can you still get into download mode? If so try to flash a full stock rom from Sammobile with odin if that fails try the emergency recovery here >> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=30087735&postcount=6 <<

Boot loop after installing latest update from LineageOS lineage-14.1-20180719-nightly

My fellows and friends,
One of these days, I received an update from LineageOS and when installing it from OTA ( using TWRP ), the first lines ( about 10 to 15 ) from the istallation sequence activities were all red, showing that something went wrong. Immediately I removed the batery to stop the process and installed the first version of the custom rom, using the TWRP. It worked fine and I received some notifications about the new revisions of the rom. I skipped the one that caused problems and accepetd the download the one on the Nov, 17, 2018 of the rom, and had installed. It appeared to me that everything was ok but, one day I turned the phone off during thje night. The next morning, I tryed to boot the phone without success. It started an infinite loop situation..... So, I tryed to repeat the same procedure to install the very first version of the rom using TWRP at the recovery mode. When I was using the TWRP to perform the advanced wipe, the dalvik cache, data and system could not be wiped. The answer about the problem was shown as : failed to mount /efes ( inavlid argument ).
I got the information that, in cases like that, the stock rom should be installed. I downloaded it from www.stockrom.net and had it istalled with the use of Odin. Unfortunately, the boot loop was there again.
What was worse now was that no TWRP was installed and Odin could not recognize the phone, although I had installed the newest set of drivers from Samsung, applicable to any devices from them.
Please I need your help to see if there is a possible solution to solve this case. Phone Model: GT-i9300 SSN -I9300GSMH - in Brazil
The message I got from the phone: E: failed to mount /efes ( inavlid argument )

Flashing a stock ROM will always replace TWRP with the stock recovery.
Are you trying to flash the latest stock ROM?
Do you have a backup of the EFS directory? It's an important directory as that is where a lot of information, including the IMEI is stored.
Hi Audit 13, thnaks for replying.
No I don't have the back up for the folder you mentioned. I was trying to install the last stock rom downloaded from www.stockrom.net, which I suppose was the last one. The worst part is that to computer does not recognize the phone since then.... I do not know what to do. I suppose that there is not a way to back up the folder you mentioned. I think that I have to install something from the very begining, as if the phone was to receive the installation of the very first program, as if it was just coming from the factory, totaly clean. Is that so? Am I right? And, how to do it? I tryed to download the stock rom from Samsung, but I think it was difficult and could not have it accomplished.
Thanks a lot and I'm still waiting instructions of how to solve this problem.
You should try using different USB cables and different USB ports to recognize the phone.
I assume you are using Windows since you mentioned Odin. When you connect the phone, do you see any new devices appear under Device Manager?
What is the phone's model # in download mode?
Is the the ROM you used: https://www.stockrom.net/2015/11/stock-rom-original-de-fabrica-samsung_19.html ?
Did you try using Odin 3.07?
Hi Audit13!
Thanks a lot for your help! I've already got hte files you mentioned and am preparing for trying to do the procedure you taught me.
Thanks again and soon, I hope, to be back to confirm whether it succeded.
Bie....
Hi Audit13,
Unfortunately the computer is not recognizing the SGS device.
I was ready to install the sock rom you suggested, had downloaded the Odin 3.07. I use Windows 10 and the latest drivers have been installed. The phone was in the download mode and tryed all available USB port. I've waited some minutes in each USB port for recognition with no success.
I thank you for your help. Is there any other method we could try? If you could please indicate, I thank you again.
Is there a method available using ADB procedures?
Hope there is.
Thanks, anyway for the help.
Hi Audit13
I think that the situation got a little worse. I tryed to do some recovery on the emergency recovery mode, but none of them succeeded. Now, what I get when tryng to get to the recovery mode is an android robot with an open belly with a red triangle coming out of it.... It gets to thedownload mode, but no recognition from the computer. This happened after trying to ionstall the stock rom obtained from the site you mentioned. The only thing that I could do was through the Universal-Android-Diag-Enabler-V2, what made the qualcomm start. Is there a way to make a comand to the phone that could star the USB debbuging? I tryed the various ODIN versions but with no success.
There is another problem - I'm using Windows 10 and the PowerShell uses different command lines not recognized by adb. I tipped devices and the program indicated that there was an mistake.
Is ther an Instructions Booklet for Odin?
What is your opinion? Do you think that there still exists a solution for my phone's case? If so, what to do?
Please, I ask you to help me on solving this problem.
Thanks in advance...
