OTA updates? - Motorola Droid RAZR

Sorry I haven't been on this site since the last OTA from Verizon. I was wondering if there have been any new updates since the 4.1.2 release or any mentioned that would be coming up. I never thought they would push anymore updates to the Razr (after ICS), but now we have Jelly Bean so I'm more optimistic.:good:

4.1.2 was the last update the Razr will see unfortunately.

A question about the recent OTA and root.

Hi,
Just got my phone a couple days ago and immediately rooted it using some of the great tutorials I found on this site.
My question is, I have been getting a notice to update to the latest OTA. Will this affect my root?
I believe it might disable root but you can always root after the OTA update.
was there a 2nd OTA update sent out, other than the one on Aug. 24th? if so i wasn't aware of this.

Go for it. I flashed back to MR3 today and then took the OTA update. I then rooted without any problems.

[Q] Downgrade from Jelly Bean to ICS

I have a Razr XT912 (original version) and I recently upgraded to Jelly Bean OTA 4.1.2. I really miss root access and I learned a method on how to keep root. I have to go to ICS first..... Is there any way to go back to ICS from Jelly Bean? Thanks.

Sorry. there is no way to go back to ICS.
You unfortunately will have to wait until a root exploit is available for our jellybean.

I thought so. I guess I'll have to be patient. I just feel like I'm hand-cuffed without root. Thanks.

Hmm....NO!!!
I was messing around with the razr m launcher and somehow messed up my gallery and camera. So, the only fix was to flash back to ICS (which doesn't boot, of course) then reinstall the JB update. In that process - I lost root! Oh well, just hope a root method for JB is in the works! :fingers-crossed:
Haha yeah I hate ads!! Its like chrome without ad block. You just can't survive without it

I've just got back to ICS on my Droid Razr Maxx (Spyder).
I dont't know if was because I have installed safestrap before instal Cyanogemmod 10.1 (Jelly Beam), but when I deleted all the /SDCARD-0 files and rebooted my phone, everything gone back to how it was. The old operation system (4.0.4), the older programs, configs, everything just perfect.
Note that the /SDCARD-0 was the internal memory, not a real sdcard.
Boot OS already rooted.

[Q] My new phone and a question :)

I got myself an xt910 yesterday and it came with the 2.3.6 version. So should I do the update from about phone section? Will the update take me to ics or jb? And is the update Im gonna be downloading a buggy one? Should I rather stay with my current gb one?
Thanks!
Note: Not planning to root anytime soon

The update will give you ICS 4.0.4. Yes go ahead and update it, no bugs. You can root it using EternityProject EasyRootICS v1.5.
If you want the Jellybean leak... read about it here
It was leaked on the CDMA version, but a hack is included in the instructions to get the GSM band working. That is a choice you have to make, though most have reported a stable and good working JB. Though you need root to do this, so you might want to skip it.
Hope the new phone works good for you!

[Q] Need suggestion about android version

Hello everyone!
I have recently ordered a verizon motorola droid xt912 to use in a europe GSM network. I have seen that the latest OTA update is JB 4.1.2 but I have seen many people having issues with this update. What I want to know from you guys is if I should update it to ICS (it will be on 2.3.5) manually or do I simply do the official OTA update to 4.1.2 . Which one do you recommend ?
If ya ordered it recently then there may be chances of getting RAZR with ics or jellybean too . So wait till ya dont receive it .
Both methods, are safe to update to ics or jellybean but i would recommend ya to go with flashing manually by yaself . Thx
Please hit that thanks button if i helped ya

IMO, JB is the better choice than ICS. I've been using it and don't have any issue. Many people feel there phones were more stable or battery efficient with ICS, however I never felt anything like that. My phone always lasted a day as it does now. Its was as responsive and stable on JB as it was on ICS.
The only thing to keep in mind is, you cannot downgrade. Once you update to JB, there's no goin' back.

I am not asking about which method is easier I just wanna know if I should update to JB or ICS so which is better for this cellphone since I have seen some people having issues with JB thats why
IMHO jellybean and ICS are very similar. jellybean is more optimized and refined. Consequently the phone will be more responsive and have better battery life on jb.
aokp and cm 10 should be mentioned as well both are excellent ROMs. Aokp is my favorite however I think cm10 may be more stable last I compared the two.

DROID Maxx Rollback

Guys,
I'm desperate. I updated my Maxx (which I love) to 4.4 before my company did their security testing. Subsequently, the 4.4 update failed testing with corporate policies. Today I got email stating that I have to "return" my phone to IT by Jan 31. The 4.2.2 build works perfectly with corporate security policies.
Is there any way possible to revert to 4.2.2? I have downloaded installed and successfully got RSD Lite working but I don't think I can downgrade due to security differences...please help me if you know ANY WAY TO GET BACK...they are probably going to stick me with a Windows Phone until an update can be done that will fix the issues.
Argh!!!!
Thanks in advance.

You can revert to stock using Matt's utility (see http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2192467). This will get you back to 4.1.2 though (I think).

No dice guys. I am wondering if a true Verizon Tech would be able to revert this device back to 4.2.2. I posted on the other thread but the software is not possible from Matt to revert back to 4.2.2.
Any ideas on getting back to 4.2.2?
Dude, you have the new Maxx. You have posted in the old Razr Maxx section, so the utility wont work. You need to find the new Droid Maxx section of these forums.
EDIT: You might ask the guys here if it is possible to rollback: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2616104
Or use RSD: http://sbf.droid-developers.org/phone.php?device=4, but I guess if you took the official update you can't rollback... If you flashed through SS or something you probably can.

Sorry for the ignorance. I couldn't find the New DROID Maxx forum. I scrolled all the way through but maybe I missed it. Yes, RSD Lite does not work since I accepted the 4.4 update. Thanks for your input.
