[Q] Google Search above them all?? - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi Community,
Everytime i install a firewall i set it first to whitelist mode.
So absolutly no app is able to connect to the internet, excepting google search?
If i open an internet browser (no matter which one) and want to open for example Xda-developers.com it doesnt work. As it should, because the firewall is blocking the browser. So far so good.
Now the problem is that no matter what brower i use google.com can always be opened. And i can search with google as there would be no rule. I can search for pictures, videos etc, but if i click e.g. a picture i cant open them. Because here the firewall is blocking the browser again.
I disabled, freezed the app -Google Search- but that doesnt work. No matter what i try, google seem to be above all.
So how the hell does google gets his rights from to -ignore- those firewall rules and get internet access through every other third party app?

"Automatically sign in" is for signing i automatically when the fone starts or when connectivity is established.
it is not like a desktop application since the app is linked to the gmail account on your fone.
alternatively you can choose nimbuzz as an IM client if you dont want to sign in always with the same credentials..
The one thing I was trying to do was make it so it doesn't show that I am always available. No matter if I log out or kill the app it always shows that I am available on gtalk.
Is there a solution to this?
Have you considered meebo or another app instead of using talk? I don't use chat apps but it might do what you are looking for.
I use ebuddy, but that is besides the point.
Here is the thing- since the gtalk is set up with the original google account (the one when you originally set up the phone) it does not let you delete that account off gtalk. But on top of that, no matter what I do i.e. sign out or kill the gtalk app (and even if it shows gtalk is not running), it always shows that I am available and never truly logs me out.
So with the original google account on the phone, I am now always available on gtalk and I can never log out- just really bothers me. Anyone have solution?
Thanks
Looks like the always available is an ongoing problem, I haven't found a solution yet...

Got it so ebuddy is no longer holding my gtalk hostage (I no longer show always available). I used the solution at the end of this forum:

[Q] Play Store still shown as Market

Hey guys,
I got an HTC Jetstream as a gift recently and its lovely! I was successfully able to connect it to my WiFi and browse the internet and stuff but for some reason the Play Store is not available. It still has the old "Market" app which does not connect to the internet even if I put in my Google ID and password.
It comes back with an error stating my Internet connection is not reliable. However, I am able to download stuff and video HD quality YouTube videos. I am not able to log in to any Google apps as well.
What seems to be the problem?

Does it let you log into a Google service (i.e. Gmail) via a browser on the Jestream? If not then you might want to troubleshoot using Google Dashboard on a different computer.
Otherwise, this might be a time when performing a factory reset fixes things. Is losing all of your data acceptable?
Search google: google play apk download. Install the latest market app.

[Q] Gmail says "No internet connection". But I do have internet connection.

I try to reload/refresh my Gmail app to get new mail. It tells me "No Internet connection. Retry." But I do have an internet connection. I can surf the web on a browser app.
How can I figure out what's going on? Is there a verbose error script/log created?
The sole suspiscion is that I've frozen an app that Gmail needs. I've been freezing apps/files (using Link2SD) that came preinstalled with my Samsung Galaxy Tab4, because I'd like to get rid of them, and I thought that freezing them is the first step to confirm that I (or my tablet) doesn't need the file/app.

Are you using an ad blocker?
Do other Google apps work?
Have the correct time and date on your tablet?
Tried to uninstall/reinstall the Gmail app?
Any sync errors in Settings / Accounts?
es0tericcha0s,
thanks for your reply. I figured out the problem: I had an app that turned off the Google Play store temporarily (and I guess Gmail too). . I removed that app and the problem disappeared.

Disable web search results & videos from within Google app (force browser)

I use Google assistant on my Android on a daily basis, with the tap of a button - to get directions, make a phone call, send a text, open an app, etc. However, my 10-yr-old son has figured out that he can bypass my password-protected browser apps (such as Chrome) by doing web/video searches directly on Google assistant. For reasons that I won't get into here, it is imperative that I prevent his unauthorized access to the internet. However, I don't wish to bury Google assistant under a password or a lock screen, on account of how often I use it for all sorts of other stuff. IS THERE A WAY TO DISABLE WEB SEARCHES FROM THE GOOGLE APP, OR TO FORCE THE APP TO DEFER TO THE CHROME APP FOR THOSE SEARCHES?
I do have a rooted device, if that helps.
I am having the same issue with the Cortana assistant app on my Android as well. If I could get either Cortana or Google Assistant to block web searches, I'd be happy.

work profile and sideloading

Kind of defeats the purpose. My work have given me a selection of apps but no chrome browser, is it possible to side load chrome browser and other apps that are not in the library of literally 9apps they have given?
If anyone can work it out, it would be on XDA!
I am using a Samsung s10 plus with encryption just how work have forced the setup.
The reason. For chrome.
1.Outlook won't allow me to open html, attachments with the incompany browser.
2.Condeco desk booking won't work without outlook
3. Built in browser is terrible, can use to login to Google via some sites as it's seen as not trusted! ( Funny because they don't trust chrome)
