[Q] Water Damage - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S 4

Hey guys, so about 2 hours ago I was at the park when it began to pour. I ran to the phone and put it under my shirt, trying to protect it, to no avail. The next 5 minutes were a total sprint back to the house. By the time I got there everything was soaked, including the phone. I immediately wiped it dry, but I also had a case on which I forgot to take off. About 20 minutes later I started testing everything on the phone possible and noticed that the compass, gyroscope, and proximity sensor stopped working. I then took everything off the phone and placed it in rice. My question is does anyone know if this damage is permanent? I know this may be a stupid question but does anyone have any knowledge as to whether or not leaving the phone for a while will fix the sensors? Thanks in advance.

Water Damage will trip the Water detection stickers inside the phone and on the battery. Most of the time the water damage is permanent and would require an insurance clam.

Phone working again after water damage
You'll never believe this! All the methods did not work but i knew with one test the screen with touch was still okay... The mainboard was malfunctioning. Soo i baked the mainboard in the oven 2 times at 200 C degrees for 10 minutes... and now its freaking working again!!!!!!
1. find out if the phone dropped in salt or normal water.
2. open the whole device and let it dry for 2 days in a lot of rice.
3. if still not working put the mainboard in the oven voor 10 minutes at 200 degrees (celcius). (this worked for me!!):silly:
3. if you havent smashed your phone because of frustration it should be working!!!
Lock it!
Reflowing the PCB, pretty bold but hey if it's your last option why not
Good to know. Glad you fixed it.
I fixed my external hard drive by putting it in freezer overnight. So if i have prob with cell phone i can always bake it.
cookery class?

Help recovering from water damage

Back Story: I have a rooted, unlocked M8. An a**hole coworker of mine threw me in a pool while it was in my pocket last night. Got it out and put into rice immediately.
Now phone would turn on and seemed to want to work aside from just being slow to certain touches but other than that it was ok. I started to notice that it was acting up and crashing so i though it might be some sort of software issue. go into recovery and wipe everything to install a new rom but after install using Philz, it just right back to the old rom. No data is missing and the system is not changed. I even tried to restore an old back up but nothing sticks. I get no errors when wiping or installing so I am at a loss right now.
Any new ideas?
That guy owes you a new phone, period. If he is going to do something so stupid, he needs to learn the lesson that there are consequences.
When my wife dunked her iPhone in the toilet, the Genius Bar employee told her that the phone might be fine, or some things might be broken, or that it might seem fine for a while, then just suddenly stop working. Its like a time bomb, you never know if your phone is going to just stop working now. So the guy should replace the phone.
The M8 is water resistant to some degree (but I don't know about total immersion). I'd dry it for a lot more than overnight. If any water go inside the phone, I don't think drying overnight is sufficient. And any remaining water is a possible point of short circuit or corrosion. Power off and dry it for a day or 2 more.

[Q] Water Mark (Patch) on phone LCD, Need urgent help

Hi
I have been searching on this forum for various things for couple of years and never had the need to register until now, My Phone (Galaxy Mega 6.3 i9200) fell in water last week, not fully submerged, just the top of it for few seconds, i immediately pulled it out and have done the following as suggested by many in this same forum:
1. Dried in dry cloth and kept to dry for 1-2hrs
2. put the phone in a air tight container with unboiled rice for 4 days
3. put the phone in a air tight container with desiccant for 3 days
I have put some pictures and you can see the water level has gradually come down from the LCD screen and the cloud patch is somewhat gone and as you can see in the last image, that is what exists and this is not going at all, I have tried vaccum cleaner hot air for 3-5 mins but no luck.
Today i walked to samsung service center and they said i had voided the warranty which is obvious and the phone LCD replacement would cost $120 including labor, however there is one risk which they dont want to take, during the replacement of LCD, if the phone doesnt come alive, then i am stuck with a dead phone for life, I didnt agree to this and walked from there.
All the sensors including cameras work perfectly fine, no issues at all, *#0*# runs with all built-in function absolutely fine, even the battery has no issues and no bulging or no drop in performance and doesnt get heated up, so, here is my question:
1. As you can see the picture, the water level gradually came down, but stuck somewhat in the middle, will this eventually go away like the rest of the water patch or will it stick to LCD like a stain permanently ?
2. If its temporary, how do i remove the water which is in the middle of the screen? I have kept almost a week in dessicant and rice, should i continue or should i try something else ?
3. The last option for me: If this is going to be permanent, anyway to replace the phone LCD without damaging the phone, I dont understand samsung service center asking customer to take risk for water damage inspite of me agreeing to pay the money for the LCD replacement, not fair i guess....b.w all phone functionality could be lost in this case which is working perfectly fine.
so, guys pls suggest me how i can fix this, its a new phone 1 month old and i am feeling very sad for what happened....
Appreciate your replies
Thanks & Regards

did u try to show some local repair shops they will help u and do not blow hot air into it it will try to blow the water but it will again come back try to show some trusted local shops see what they say i too have faced like the same issues but sc as usually say out of warranty due to water damage and my phone flash light was continuous on local shop guy fixed it now running it fine
phone dried
@djvicksee111 thanks for your reply.
yesterday it was raining heavily and my cousin became full wet along with his phone, he then put his phone under the seat of his scooter and drove whole day, when he reached home, the phone had became too hot and what a surprise it was fully dried and no water in LCD or whatsoever and absolutely working fine.
I took this idea and wanted to try the same but didnt want to drive a scooter in the rain
so, i decided i will put the phone somewhere it is not too hot and above warm, i took a small bag, put my phone (removed battery), connected my vaccum cleaner in opposite where you get hot air (blower) and closed the bag leaving small room for air to escape, left it for 15mins initially, there was no sign of improvement, then again left for 20mins and this is what the phone looks now (see attachment).
Eurekaaaaa! the water in the phone is getting dried much faster, i am gonna try this for some more time and post here if the phone is completely dried.

[Q] Samsung Galaxy S3 GT-i9300T water damaged

Hi everyone, my S3 decided it liked swimming yesterday and fell into a toilet and stopped working. As soon as I got it out, I took the battery out, wrapped it in toilet paper, and left it in the sun for 12 hours. Now, its being detected by my computer, and charges, but the screen stays blank. Is there any way without opening up the phone, as it is still under warranty, that I can fix the screen problem. It was running rooted Samsung 4.3 stock rom and was working fine till it had a swim.
Thanks in advance,

Im afraid leaving it in the sun would of done more harm than that. This keeps the water inside then allows it to evaporate into even smaller gaps then condense back into water when it can't get out. The "correct" i suppose way of doing it is by pulling it apart a much as you can and putting it in rice etc.
Im don't think there is a way to bring the screen back at this point.

So if I clean up the connector inside the phone, it will do nothing? as everything else works, as confirmed through a ADB screenviewer on my PC (litecam Android)

There is defiantly no harm in trying.
Ok, now i'm worried.
I opened my phone up to clean up all the connectors, and now the phone does not even turn on, it just vibrates for a second when plugged in and repeats it every two seconds. Is there any way to fix this? I don't want to have to get a replacement as all my data is on this phone, as before, it was turning on.

[Q] Moisture Damage in LG G3

Hey guys. This is my first posting a thread here. I have a Verizon LG G3. Last night, it accidentally had dropped into the toilet, and I quickly picked it. Checked the phone, and there was no visible moisture damage in the front of the screen. Removed the cover off the back of the phone, and there a tiny bit of moisture around the flash, but the battery and everything around it was dry.. The indicators inside the battery holders are still red x's with a white background, and they are dry. The phone still worked like normal, and didn't short over night. 14 hours later, it was still working normally, but for preventative measures I went ahead, and took out the battery and turn off the phone.
At this point, am I out of the woods or is there anything else I need to do?

Sounds like you dodged a bullet :fingers-crossed:
To make you feel better, check this link: http://bgr.com/2014/07/09/lg-g3-waterproof-test/
If you're still paranoid you can try the rice trick mentioned in the article too, but you're probably dry by now. Good luck!
