No. The device's board isn't capable of supplying USB peripherals with power.

[Q] Atrix as USB host

I have OTG USB host cable for Motorola Xomm. Is there any way this coulb be used with Atrix??
Don't take my answer as 100 percent. I want to say no dice on the usb host deal, but the hd dock and lapdock have usb ports for key/mouse. I think somebody mounted an external hdd but had problems. Hopefully somebody else can shed more light on this.
I voided my warranty.
It'll need a 5vdc power supply

Yeah there is a post on this already but the answer is that you just need a powered USB hub and that cable and you can use it as a host.

So ho come Galaxy S2 does not need powered hub??

I know nothing about Samsung, but my Atrix works fine as USB host. All you need is powered USB hub and cheap OTG adapter. I bought one from Dealextreme (sorry, can't post links). It works great with any USB keyboard or mouse or FAT formated memory drive.

WHAT???!!! , So the problem from me or the phone ??
Do I have to do something else or just plug the OTG cable then plug the USB flash ??
1st connect a usb keyboard for mouse to see if it's working...ohh 1 thing you must insert the usb object you want to plug in, in the OTG cable 1st then to the phones USB port....if I don't do it then OTG does not work in my XP...

OK I did what you said exactly , tried two USB flash , well one of them gave me power Consumption error , and the other one didn't work
Will try more and update.
Thanks
OMG MAGIC
It Actually works , however not all USB devices work , I tried three USB flashs only one of them worked , I also tried a mouse and it worked too
Thanks noim for helping me :good:
Well all devices will not work.. Some flash devices require more power.so the phone does not allow high power consumption devices to work since it will drain ur battery..
Well its nice to know my trick (i would not call it a trick tho) worked.... Always happy to help...

Oh is that so? Anyway, I heard that the HOX+ supports external keyboards and mice via the micro usb port, would you happen to know if the HOX+ has usb otg and can act as usb host to read my flash disks?

If the one x supports it, no doubt ours will, we may have to wait for custom kernels before we can use it properly though.

At 1:20 the HTC lady pretty much confirmed USB OTG.

Using a WD 500GB hdd on HTC one max

Is there anyway to use this hard drive with the phone? When I connect it says unable to charge while in usb host mode? Any ideas thanks

Not seeing what the problem is? That is what the phone always says when you connect anything in the micro USB slot that isn't a charger. Happens all the time when I plug in my OTG cable.

You need to enable OTG in Settings / Storage Menu
There is an option to enable OTG Storage

Nope it works fine for me in both OS and Recovery
Just mount it

OTG works fine. But it has low power, Note3 has about 1A output power, OPX has maximum 400mA. Some devices may not work like FIIO E10k DAC or hard drives without external power supply.
Yup, it works. just enable OTG in Settings / Storage Menu as stated above. Even tried few OTG pendrives and worked fine.
