wifi tether app from the play store

I use this app and it works like a charm. It has everything basic you need plus the ability to password protect your tethered network.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.googlecode.android.wifi.tether
Also, alot of custom ROMs come with tethering apps in their setting or mod sections.

Although updated to support the verizon S4 several days ago it still didn't work, and I no longer see it in the play store.

Link isn't working

Odd...it works for me. Try using this website to get to it, or try searching for a WiFi tether app in the PlayStore, there are a million of them.

Anyone? The one posted above is not available on the play store. Even so I downloaded it and it still isn't working on the rooted verizon S4.

tether

has anyone confirmed tether for free after root?
Had no problem with barnacle wifi tether legacy, although it took much longer to get the connection running then my old droid with cm6 on it.
No problems with Wireless Tether.
@ spotmark
What version of wifi tether did you install?
And did you need to install any other files (i.e. WirelessTetherHelper or fw_bcm4329_ap.bin)?
I have tried a few different version or wireless tether for root and No Joy so far.
Thanks!

Thanks!!!
That did it!
Now if i can figureout how to replace the stock Email.apk with one that supports multiple Exchange accounts I will be set.
Confirming that wireless_tether_2_0_5-pre9.apk from Google Code works for me without having to install any additional files. This does require root to work.
The version listed in the Market does not work.
is there a wired thether that works?

Best Tethering app?

Im rooted now im wondering whats the best app to get for tethering?
I want to usb tether and wifi teather ....any ideas?
thanx
use the google one
current stable release is 2.06 i think
I use Barnacle, nice and easy

Well if you are interested in tethering with a lapdock (as I am with unlimited) Barnacle works flawless after associating. The wifi tether required I change the network proxy to default before it passed validating. But I got it off the market so the beta pre 3.0 may work better. Market version also didn't allow some controls.

I use a combo of Barnacle + Mobile Hotspot.
What do you guys use for a wired tether?
Sent from my MB860 using XDA App
I use PDAnet if I need to tether via USB. But I rarely have to.
There is also a wired tether app. I found it with a Google search. Its just like wireless tether except wired. I can't attach it from the app here but its out there.

tried to install this app and received the dumb security code for:
"THIS APPLICATION COMES FROM AN UNKNOWN SOURCE AND FOR YOUR SECURITY ONLY APPLICATIONS FROM TRUSTED SOURCES CAN BE INSTALLED." WTH. =/
Tried to go into settings and can't find a way to bypass this.

Are you rooted and enabled third party apps? Have to be rooted to use wifi tether and need to enable third party apps when you root to be able to install the file
Hey thanks for replying, I've only been using android for about a few months now, used to be a windows mobile fan, dislike it. Switching over to this, not sure what exactly that is, am a techno dude, if there are some steps maybe you could guide me, appreciate it. thanks.

Might want to do a little reading on what all rooting is before you do it. But basically it gives you more control over the phone. Once rooted and allow third party apps you should be able to download wifi tether and install it.
Thanks for the article. completed, also followed the sticky for rooting on here. ATT=money maker company, can't believe we can't install non market apps right out of the box.

[Q] HBO Go

Does anyone have issues with logging into HBO Go and Cinemax's MAX Go?
After I rooted and unlocked the bootloader, I have been unable to log into both apps with my Comcast Xfinity subscription.

Yea, my HBO go app works fine, but as soon as I try logging in it tells me this service is temporarily unavailable. I know my login works because it works fine on all my iOS devices, my Nexus 7, and my SGS3.

Mobile Hotspot Tether working?

How can I get tethering to function on a rooted Tmo One?
Go grab wireless tether from the Google Play Store. If you're rooted that should work.
Sent from my HTC One using Tapatalk 2
I've tried foxfi but it fires up the Mobile Hotshot app from the tmo stock rom. Then only the tmo hotshot active is discoverable.

Vpn shield is an app in market
It's used to block T-Mobile from seeing any tether being pulled from carriers data .
It's essentially used with trevemod.
If you don't start Vpn shield before tethering eventually tmobile will catch on and block it.
Really it's good for people on any data especially unlimited . Allows you to tether as much as you want with out detection.

I switch back and forth with my nexus 4 to use tethering...What is the Nexus 4 seeing that the HTC One does not?
I got tethering to work!
First unlock and root.
Second, flash a kernel if you want to stay stock (which I prefer). I recommend this one: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2255900
or
Flash a custom rom
Finally, install this app:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.googlecode.android.wifi.tether
Change device-profile to "Generic ICS/JB (wlan0).
That's it! You should be good to go.

I would recommend taking a look at FoxFi and if your rooted Wireless Tether for Root Users. Keep in mind depending on your carrier handles tethering you may have to change some app settings, for tethering to function properly. Let me know if you still have questions.

Are using the wireless hotspot or USB tethering feature of Foxfi? Make sure that your in a location where your phone is getting a strong data signal as well.
