The Samsung Galaxy Mega 5.8 & 6.3 only have an LCD screen, not the super AMOLED like galaxy S4, so it's not possible for this case with the quick view window to be functional, as shown in the pictures.

As you can see there is official case with possibility of quick view... what's the difference?

The difference is with the SUPER AMOLED screen, the phone is able to turn on/off different sections of the display, giving the "s view" the capability. That is not possible with an LCD display. Samsung has not released an official case/ window for this phone.

That's disappointing. I ordered the case thinking the phone could do the "s-view" thing. I'm still waiting for it to be delivered. The strange thing is that Samsung is advertising an s-view case for the Mega 6.3" phone on their website below:
http://www.samsung.com/in/galaxymega/#accessories
On this particular site, they show both the 5.8" and 6.3" version of the Mega. When you click on the accessories link for the 5.8" version you will see a regular flip case as an available accessory. However, when you click on the accessories link for the 6.3" version, you will see both a regular flip case AND an s-view case as available accessories.
If the Mega 6.3" phone is not capable of handling s-view then they shouldn't even advertise an s-view case as an available accessory. It's almost like advertising a bluetooth headset for phone that doesn't have bluetooth. That's really bright (lol).
The only thing it would be good for is seeing the info that shows on the lockscreen when you turn the screen on (it looks like it would show in the window area of the s-view case) - that would be missed calls, new messages, etc. and the notification bar at the top. If wtjra70 is correct, we would not get real s-view functionality like the screen automatically turning off when the case is closed, like only the s-view window area of the screen turning on while the flip case is closed, like automatically reducing the size of the notification info into the s-view window, like the touchscreen functionality through the conductive plastic window, etc..

It sounds like part of the s-view functionality but it's not enough information to be certain. Please clarify.
Which phone model do you have, the GT-i9200 or the GT-i9205?
Is the time the only thing you see in the s-view window? You don't see info on messages or emails in the s-view window? What do you see in the s-view window when a phone call comes in?
Is your screen lock enabled but the s-view case automatically overrides your screen lock and unlocks the phone when you open the flip?
With the flip closed, is the touchscreen active? For example, can you swipe to answer or reject a phone call through the s-view window?
The answers to these questions should give us more of an idea as to whether or not the phone supports true s-view functionality. Apparently, the LCD screen on these phones can't support s-view functionality. Strangely enough, one of Samsung's website for this phone lists the s-view case as an available accesory. I am trying get a definitive answer on whether the phone fully supports the functionality or not before shelling out $60 on the case. Not sure why Samsung would advertise the s-view case as an accessory for this phone if the phone doesn't support the functionality. I hope it does support it but I'm not sure.

I for one would be "excited" if the full functionality is there, If Samsung offers the s-view case, I'd believe them, but what I don't see is Samsung talking about this function except for selling the acc. I've watched many videos, and read many articles about the Galaxy Mega 6.3, and not one single mention of this function is being available.
I'm 80% sold on the 6.3 when it comes to Sprint (SPH-L600), My only problem is.....Can my Motorola Photon 4g hold for just a few more months.

That's great, it appears to have true s-view functionality which would lead me to believe that s-view is more software dependent than hardware dependent. I know the samsung s-view case has some type of magnets in it which has an effect on the functioning of s-view on the screen (I'm not technically savvy on this but I read it).
Kotty,
Sorry for all the questions but did you buy the Nillkin s-view case or the Samsung s-view case?
Does your case replace the back cover of the phone or does the case snap over the existing back cover of the phone?

I hear you. I haven't seen it advertised anywhere as a feature of this phone and I checked Samsung's site, all of the review sites like phonedog, phonearena, pdadb, phonescoop, gsm arena, youtube reviews, etc.
If Samsung doesn't mention it, you would like to think it's not a feature. I bought the Nillkin case online (haven't received it yet) but was wondering if I might have needed to buy the Samsung case. However, I won't shell out $60 for the samsung case if I can't get s-view functionality and neither will I shell out $60 if I can get the functionality using the Nillkin case ($11). Form my understanding, the Galaxy Mega has the same version of android as the Galaxy S4 so perhaps a lot of the s-view functionality is in the software and is not hardware dependent and we would just not have any portion of s-view that is hardware (AMOLED screen) dependent.

yes using nilkin case snap on as the picture at 1ST post ..

I finally received the case yesterday. It definitely has s-view functionality. With the flip closed I have access to information such as the time, battery status, the current music playlist, caller ID, sms/email notifications, etc. through the s-view window area
The information resizes itself to the s-view window area. The screen reacts to opening and closing the flip without having to press the power button. Also, when the screen is on and the flip is closed, only the s-view window area is on (I lifted the flip slightly to see if the rest of the screen was on - it was NOT).

AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note MAJOR ISSUE with Stylus!

Okay basically of all the Notes I've used (5 of them!) they all have this issue where towards the bottom of the screen where the "." and "Space" key are on the Samsung Keyboard, if the stylus or phone is being held in a certain way it will think it's being pressed down when it's not actually, but it only happens in that one spot! I took my AT&T Galaxy Note back to the AT&T store today and both display models had this issue, the replacement phone they gave me had this issue, and one of the Employee's had a Note that also had this issue, all in the EXACT same spot! I just want to make everyone aware of this and to see if this is an issue with all AT&T Samsung Galaxy Notes, and if it is make Samsung and AT&T aware of it and get them to issue a software or hardware fix.
Thanks.
Video demonstrating the issue:
http://youtu.be/LGzXEUg4g18
(Interesting enough all of my Wacom Tablet PC pens do not display this problem with the Note)
Update: When you test to see if your Note does this, make sure it's leaning in towards you a bit
I fail to see how this is a MAJOR issue? What problem would this cause?

Because you can be sitting there using hand writing recognition or typing with the keyboard and it suddenly randomly starts hitting a bunch of keys, or drawing something and it just randomly starts scribbling. It's annoying as hell! also the fact it affects EVERY note I've touched.
i have gt n7000.no problems here.prob. just a software bug.hopefully they will update firmware to fix all these small issue u guys having.
Glad I'm not the only one with this problem. Mine is affected at the lower right side of the screen. I hate it when it's pushing buttons.
I had hoped that replacing the stylus would resolve the issue but I'm having doubts after OP's post.
I would consider this a major issue.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using XDA App
I just tried replicating this on my note. Doesn't happen.
Sent from the best mobile device ever --Samsung Galaxy Note
mine works fine.
Also, I fail to see this as a MAJOR issue...maybe an annoyance but Major?
I believe what Wolfox360 commented on my video is true, I think it's magnetic interference from either one of the radios or the speaker causing this, that's why my Wacom Tablet PC pens didn't do this, they're shielded better, I say this needs a hardware fix from Samsung for new Styluses that are shielded better.
Yes, I agree this is a valid issue. There's at least two other threads in this section on this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1512578 &
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1511230.
At post 14 of the first link I provided a pic of a test memo where I mapped the area of the screen affected.
My first Note's defect was not limited to just the lower right corner... it was pretty wideapread. My second Note's defect was limited to the lower right corner but it didn't require the S Pen to be tilted horizontally or upside down to draw on the screen or start going crazy on the keyboard. My third Note only has the issue in the same location (lower right corner) and only when the S Pen is horizontal or tilted back slightly (like using it while laying in bed or in a reclining chair). I've concluded the S Pen is definitely involved (it doesn't happen with my two Wacom tablet PC pens), and the fact that it is often restricted to the lower right corner must mean the digitizer might also be a factor. Something in the pen is causing an increased transmission when it goes horizontal or becomes inverted.
As the third device is at least usable I've decided to keep it and hope Samsung comes out with an improved S Pen or some other fix for the device. In the meantime, I just try to keep the S Pen upright when I'm using it. I guess I probably use the S Pen more than most folks because I'm a long time user of Pocket PCs and Tablet PCs.
The Note is in all other respects my dream device. I'm a fan!
I don't have this issue, whatsoever. Mine works fine. In fact, but my AT&T version and my International version work perfectly. I can drag the tip across the screen, just barely touching, and it won't register anywhere. Then I increase the pressure just a tiny bit and it does register. Operation is uniform across the entire screen.
mine doesn't have that issue at all
As "Wolfox360" showed on his youtube video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tPqGw297Fa0 putting a thin ring of Aluminum tape around the stylus almost completely fixes this issue.

Yes, the aluminum tape around the S Pen seems to fix this issue for me. It's not easy to get the placement and width of the tape just right... and it may differ from pen to pen. I ended up with a slightly narrower band of tape (4mm rather than Wolfox360's recommendation of 5mm) and centered on the bottom of the button, with 2mm of tape over the button and 2mm extending below the button. When I used a tape width of 5mm I was losing some pen functionality (areas of dead spots on the screen).
I wish Samsung and AT&T would address this issue and provide modified pens to those users that need them.

I hope they do too, this is my first Samsung phone since an old BlackJack II from several years ago and honestly I'm a bit disappointed with it so far, even my HTC Desire Z (T-Mobile G2)s seemed of all around better quality than this.
My Note has this issue too. Whenever I hold the s-pen near the bottom right it acts like it's touching but it isn't.
My theory on what's causing the issue in the first place is the fact that there's a speaker on the rear of the device right where we seem to be having the issue at. Maybe the speaker magnet there is what's causing it to go wonky?
Glad to see that a simple fix like the aluminum tape is available, gonna have to try that in a bit. I'm thinking that this supports the idea of the speaker causing the issue though, since just adding a tiny little bit of foil to shield the s-pen from the speaker can fix it.
I have the white att galaxy note and I do not have this issue...I've tested numerous times.
this phone is what you get when a skyrocket and galaxy tab get together and make babies - galaxy note!
White AT&T Note here and don't have the issue either, although, even if I did, I don't know that I would define that as a "MAJOR ISSUE" seeing as how you have to hold the pen a certain way in a certain spot to even get it to do it. Seems more like a minor nuisance.
So is this happening to the black note only? Weird if it is the color shouldn't make a difference...people who are having the problem should post the color of their note.
this phone is what you get when a skyrocket and galaxy tab get together and make babies - galaxy note!
Mine is the black model and has the same issue. In most cases it is probably more nuisance than problem but when trying to use the note application it becomes a real problem for me.

I stopped by the local AT&T store and confirmed this issue exists on the white Note on display, just like the black one. The S Pen holder didn't help either... still the same.
I've had 3 black AT&T Notes with various levels of this defect.

[APP]/[Guide] Flip Cover on AOSP rom's!

[How-to get partial flip-cover function on AOSP] This is no longer needed.
- Remember that this will require a magnet inside the case's lid.
Hey guys!
I was fiddling around with our sensors tonight and I figured out the magnetometer is working in our device.
So I researched the Market and found an exciting application called Magnet Unlocker.
This application supports a lot of different ways to lock/unlock a device. Including with the use of a magnetic field.
Anyways, I did a lot of settings options and I cannot for the life of me get the application to both use Lock and Unlock, the unlock/lock processes get's jammed up in each other and starts to lock/unlock within seconds of eachother, so I basically use only unlock, since that's the most handy when I look at it. The device can still turn off by itself after a set time due to lacking user interaction.
With the settings I give you here, I have at least made the tablet turn on when the lid is flipped off the screen. The built-in dispay off setting is taking care of turning off the screen(in my case 1 minute after I close the lid)
So I present to you a small image guide on how to reach optimal settings.
I hope this is useful to you.

Nice find!
For those willing to spend a few minutes, I was able to get both cover Lock and Unlock working quite easily with Tasker and Secure Settings (Paid + Free). Secure Settings is needed since Tasker cannot turn on the screen in Android 2.3+.
To Lock:
Create a new Profile, State, Sensor, Magnetic Field. Press Scan and have a look at the value when the cover is nearly closed (you can peek under the cover). A value of 285+ works fine for me so far. So set From '285' and To 'Any'.
For the Exit Task, Display, System Lock.
To Unlock:
Same as before, just use the lower range: From '0' To '284' for me. (or you can use Invert)
For the Exit Task, Plugin, Secure Settings. Hit the pencil for Configuration and choose Wake Device. I then used Screen Dim and 5 seconds, but these are up to you. Press Save and you are done!
EDIT: I added a variable check to keep it from running constantly. I think it still needs a little work, things are a bit wonky, but get you get the idea. When it locks, set %CASE to CLOSED. In order to unlock, it must then read %CASE as CLOSED, before setting it to OPEN.
Profile: Case Unlock (4)
State: Magnetic Field [ Axis:All From:0 To:284 ]
State: Variable Value [ Name:%CASE Op:Matches Value:CLOSED ]
Enter: Anon (5)
A1: Secure Settings [ Configuration:Screen Dim
5 Seconds Package:com.intangibleobject.securesettings.plugin Name:Secure Settings Timeout (Seconds):0 ]
A2: Variable Set [ Name:%CASE To: OPEN Do Maths: Off Append: Off ]
Profile: Case Lock (2)
State: Magnetic Field [ Axis:All From:285 To:Any ]
State: Variable Value [ Name:%CASE Op:Matches Value: OPEN ]

Happy Smart Covering! :highfive:
Very cool find, one issue I am having though (I have the IVSO case) is that I have a stronger magnet field when the case is open (and the cover is flipped all the way around to the backside of the device) than when the case is closed lol. This is annoying because I would rather it to lock the screen and then use light or knock knock to turn the screen back on lol. If you have any ideas please share!
Edit: Didn't see the post about tasker. I'm going to try that now since I already use tasker for a lot of things!

Really?? I have the IVSO case as well, and mine is much lower flipped around (~160 vs 330). That's weird. Does the smart cover work on stock?
You could try the method I describe with Tasker (no need for Secure Settings if not turning screen on) and set a small To and From window that just corresponds to your lid being shut. Maybe you need a delay to check twice to ensure it isn't accidentally triggered by the cover flapping while open.
To what degree do these fixes affect battery life?

Yeah it was weird in magnet unlocker I had higher values for open than closed. But I got it working perfectly in tasker, so thank a million! And I have no idea if my cover works on stock because I bought the cover after I put cm11 on it.

These should not impact your battery life too much since the sensors are almost always on anyway as far as I can tell.
It seems that the values of the sensor vary greatly depending on the area; this means that in some places it works perfectly, but in others it won't respond at all. Could there be any way to input relative values of the magnetic sensor in Tasker as opposed to absolute values or some other way to mend this?

This was exactly why I only used one of the settings. The sensor is highly unstable and in certain occasions it decides to "double" the magnetic field. Sometimes I'm at like 400 when the lid is open and 800 when closed, should be only 4-500 when closed. It is based highly on situation. I'm sticking with the screen on function only. But thanks for the Tasker config as well. At least there's something now.

Do you leave the cover open just hanging off the side or do you flip it all the way around behind? Since the magnet and sensor are on the side where the fold is I have found I have to flip it all the way around behind the tablet to keep the screen off from being triggered. But this is how I like holding the tablet anyway.
Magnet Unlocker and Tasker don't work for me. Magnet unlocker reads my magnetic field as 900 with the cover open and 18 when closed, so when I close the cover the device unlocks. Tasker works sometimes, but after some time the magnetic field goes above 1000 so tasker is useless.
I tried this on Madhi-Rom and it didn't work for me either. The magnetic sensor isn't working correctly and didn't give values that made any sense. I went back to stock and checked with the app and the sensor reports correctly.

maybe I am not aware of what you are really talking about. Are you talking about using a cover with a magnet to turn on and off your tablet? When you lift the lid it comes on when you shut the lid it goes into standby mode? Maybe I misunderstood what really taking place here. But if that is the case then yes I am using a ivso cover that hibernate my tablet just fine.

Anyone using original S- view flip cover- Please review it

Hi,
Has anyone used the original s- view filp cover, particularly black one. Its kind of costly so, I am not sure if its worth its value or should I go for cheap OEM filp covers.
Please comment on its pros or cons.
I've just ordered one. If it arrives and for you is even more interesting I can write an overview.
Please do
I'm also interested in knowing what it can do, particularly if it locks/unlocks the phone when closing/opening. One other thing would be the wireless charging, but I got my hopes down for that...
I already have that flip cover but i didn'n likes its look just like an old phone book and when putting this flip cover i feel the phone looks smaller than without any case .It's totally my view point it depends
It's a little expensive but I think it worth it. It protects the phone well and it does not add much bulk to the phone.
To me one the best features is that I no longer have to have a lock screen on my phone. The phone wakes up when I flip it open and goes into "S-view mode" when I close it and then back to sleep. This mean I can just pull it out of my pocket, flip it open, no need to swipe, do what I have to do and then close it. It make checking things a snap. Also since it protects the screen when I'm not using it I dont use a screen protector.
The s-view mode is also nice. In my case I use it to snap quick pictures and start playing music without even opening the case.

i quote... it's also very comfortable and the backside of the cover feels better than the original.
The utility of the s-view is -software-side - a little poor IMHO. When you receive a SMS message, the s-view shows it but then you have to open the cover to read all the message. It will be useful also reading mail from s-cover or interact with the IRDA sensor like a remote.
Using s-view for taking memo is also very limitative...the display is not very sensible and the s-pen doesn't work flawlessy.
However, is the best cover for note 3 neo/lite...
edit: can't change the wallpaper of the s-view cover...grrrrrrr....only default colors...
Can someone post a photo of a s cover electrical connection to n3n back. Thanks

I don't think so.
Whem i'm right, the golden contacts have something to do with auto sleep/wake up.
Yeap that is right but in Note 3 the top two side contacts can be used for Qi charging.

Oh, thank you for this info
Does it hog battery? Or is it battery friendly? I have "Rock elegant s view cover" and it hogs on battery life as it doesn't have any hardware.. just an app which works on proximity sensor.. so the app is always active in the background.. and uses more battery than the screen does..

I have the original S View cover. In replying to your question it does not consume the battery - at least it's not noticeable.
The contacts on the rear part of the cover are for open - close sensor. They are in touch with two contacts in the phone back.
I don't think there is a possibility of wireless charge in Note 3 Neo.
I compared my N7502 with the "full" Note 3 of my friend. "Full" Note 3 it has 5 contacts on the phone back, Note 3 Neo has just two.
Moreover the Flip Cover for "full" Note 3 exists in 2 versions, two prices. One, cheaper, is just with open close sensor - that's my friend's one - with 2 contacts. The other one, more expensive, I suppose with 4 or 5 contacts supports both open - close and wireless charge.
Note 3 Neo has only one version of the cover, with 2 contacts as the phone has only 2 contacts on the back.
The only problem with this cover in case of my DUOS version is if I have the option "Always ask" enabled (concerning the SIM I want to use for make a call), the choose window does not appear in the cover square window, I have to open it to make my choice. I hope it will be corrected with the new firmware.
Thanks mate.. will get the S View cover then

S-view flip cover
Hi all,
Got my original S-view cover.
The build quality is really good. It will definitely save your phone if you accidently drop it.
With the cover closed we can receive/reject call, access camera, music player and Action memo. And also see number of missed calls and messages.
However with the cover on we can't see the notification light, which is kind of annoying.
Not sure what the two pins are for on the back. Pretty sure they are not for the s-view function, because my grand 2's cover don't have any pins and still the s-view works fine. Are they for wireless charging?

Hey, your're RIGHT !!!
I did a small experiment after reading your post. I detached the cover, put a small piece of paper to insulate the contacts and the S View still works indeed !
In this case it must be the wireless charging - no idea what else could it be ?
The best would be to make a try by putting a covered phone on a wireless charger, unfortunatelly I have no access to such one :/
Guys i need your help! I have the s cover, and i cant take a note with the cover on! Whenever i try i get that stupid pop up which you have to click the box and then press ok.However i only see the box, but not the button and as a result i get it every time! I tried making the font smaller but still.... Anyone know a solution?

Smart window style cover

http://www.sonymobile.com/global-en/products/accessories/style-cover-scr24/#copper
I've been looking at these, launching in November.
I'm really in 2 minds about them though.
I don't generally buy cases & hate all the flapping about to answer calls etc.
What are you guys thoughts on the smart cover?
I don't usually like these type of flip covers. However, the official flip covers for the Samsung S5 were great. Really good build quality, and a nice feel to them.
It's hard to be able to make a judgement when the case isn't released yet, so I'll be waiting to see some more photos and reviews before shelling out on one of these, as they're hardly a budget offering.
Looking at a couple of videos on YouTube, it looks like these cases will attach with a kind of adhesive? I'm yet to be convinced.
Not a fan.. The flap is always there which is the problem with these in my opinion.
I decided to buy one of these cases.
Let me tell you right now... I hate cases. I've never had a case for a single one of my devices.
However, I was a little annoyed at how scratched the rear of my Xperia Z became.
Been using this case for a few days now & it's great.
It doesn't attach to the case in the normal way, it 'sticks' to a large strip on the inside rear of the case.
I've removed & replaced the phone numerous times & it's had no effect on the stickiness of the strip at all.
There's no side protection to the case so it's not going to give much on the side of impact protection if dropped.
The style window is awesome though.
You can set multiple lock screen widgets to it to flick through when closed. Closing with screen on switches to style window widget for a few seconds & opening unlocks the screen.
Text notifications are shown on the window & incoming calls can be answered by swiping the window without opening. If a call is placed on the phone the case can be closed with caller id & swipe to hang up on the style window.
The case can be folded behind easily & there's access for all buttons & flaps & can also be placed on magnetic charging dock while closed (included with the case is a dock adapter for case width).
Swiping the camera icon on the window or holding the camera hard button down allows to take pictures while showing camera preview on the style window without opening the case.
Playing music is also shown on the style window with track buttons.
The slimness adds next to nothing on phone thickness.
I'm quite impressed with it tbh.
Is that the only official case available to buy? Or is the wireless charging cover for sale now too?
I just bought one of these cases and I'm waiting for it to arrive. Couldn't find one for sale in Canada so I bought from the UK. I had one like this for my LG G2, but it snapped on the back. The quick window is a necessity for me.

Can you link to any YouTube videos? I looked but can't find any, maybe I'm not searching for the right thing?
It does attach with a large sticky pad.
The phone comes off easily leaving no residue on the back of the phone.
I've removed the phone numerous times & it's had no adverse effect of the stickiness of the pad.

Hi, i have one if these but cant read text messages in the window as you are supposed to be able to do. I can see a notification but have to open the cover to read it.
U did the NFC thing and downloaded and set the theme, the box is ticked in the read notifucation in the security settings.
Did you have to do anything extra to read texts in the window?
Thanks.
I don't see the contents of messages either, just message alert.

Will do.
So I bought this Case from Sony directly in Copper.
It shines a bit so it looks a little gay.
For the rest I can confirm what the others said. It is small so your phone won't get that much thicker.
The smartwindow function is pretty cool.
I wish there would be a magnet to keep it closed and have it more straight on the phone because sometimes you have to press the case a little more on the screen to get the touch responsiveness.
I am very happy with it.
I bought the DK48 Dockingstation too and will add details on how it fits with the case when I got it.

Hi, got a response from Sony, to view messages in the window you have to set hangouts as the default messaging app then use the hangouts widget in the window to view messages.

I too got mine today (quite mad for Sony to have kept us waiting this long - and given the two day delivery, Amazon has clearly got these from elsewhere in the EU so they're probably STILL not on sale in the UK officially yet).
I got mine in copper, to match the phone. Let me just say this - DON'T GET COPPER! It is indeed quite shiny and actually looks quite tacky, but having waited so long I decided to unpack it and set it up, so I guess I'm stuck with it.
If you have the copper phone, I'd say go for black. It will contrast nicely and look a whole lot more professional. This case looks like something you'd get from a market.
As has been said elsewhere, including YouTube video reviews, the cover doesn't sit flat unless it's flat on a desk - and even then it raises up a bit because there's no magnet or sufficient weight in the front cover to hold it down.
I downloaded the app and basically it's just like a lock screen with the usual lock screen widgets. No major problem there, and from the home panel you can also launch the camera in a mini view - but it also takes 4:3 pictures and doesn't let you change modes. I assume it uses the superior auto mode, but it doesn't say if it detects the scene or anything. Frankly, just use the normal camera button if I were you.
It also comes with a new dock insert, which is good. You keep the cover closed when it's docked, unlike the Roxfit flip cover (that also acts as a stand, which this does not because it's glued on the back of the phone) and when it's docked, the cover falls forward a bit - which isn't exactly helping stop it gradually getting looser and looser. And I used a Daydream 'screen saver' on the phone before, to show a clock and weather. It still loads, but as you might have expected - it doesn't resize and is now useless. There's no Xperia Daydream mode so the best thing I've found so far is Timely and using that to show the time/date.
As for the way it's stuck on the back.. I removed my rear film protector as I didn't want that peeling off with the cover - but even now it doesn't feel like a rock solid adhesion. If I dropped this phone, would it realistically hold in the case? I expect not and most likely it will fly off if you did drop it.
Worse still, if I want to take it out of the case then how many times will I be able to re-stick the case to the phone before the glue has all gone? There's no way to change this, so are you supposed to just bin it and buy another one? To me it seems like an insane way to connect to the phone. Why not the usual grips around the edge? To keep it thin? That could come at a huge cost.
Anyway, despite all the negativity I've just pointed out, it's quite nice to have the window showing key info at a glance (and to finally turn the screen on/off by opening the cover) - but you do still need to open the cover to do anything beyond seeing a notification or info on a widget (e.g. BBC News headlines). Given how few are likely to sell, don't expect loads of developers to be queuing up to modify apps to show through the small window either. What you get now is probably what you'll ever get.
That said, if anyone does find any other good apps/widgets that work well with this cover then please do post here. I can't help but feel this case will drop in price fairly quickly.
Edit: Another thing; when a call comes in, you can answer from the window - but with the cover on the proximity sensor obviously can't work. Thus you can't get the screen back on (it had gone off on mine, presumably after the usual timeout) without opening the phone, or using the power button.
I got this case the other day and so far I have mixed feelings. I like how thin the case is but I don't like that there is plastic in the window. I had an LG G2 quick view case on my last phone and the window was empty. This made using the screen with the cover closed a lot easier. Also the window plastic gets very dirty.
Lastly, my biggest complaint is that when you have the front flap open and flipped around to the back it covers the camera. So with this case you can only take full screen pictures with the case hanging open. This may seem minor but I feel like it is these little oversights that make a big difference. I really expected more from a Sony made case.
For the widgets, Zooper Widget shows up in the list so you can use that to make a lot of interesting widgets. Also Media Utilities. I have also found that Plex, Yahoo Weather, podcast addict and hoopla widgets work in the window.
"The first time you use Style Cover Window SCR24, you establish a connection to your Xperia™ Z3 and get the opportunity to download dedicated smart window widgets and apps. This makes it possible for you to decide exactly what happens when you open and close the cover. Customize and enjoy smart window functions the way you want them".
Get the opportunity? Hm...
Where to get it?
I did not discover any widgets and apps on Google Play . Only themes...

Official Samsung Keyboard Cover Review

I bought the Tab S4 yesterday August 10th at Best Buy in Chicago (or its suburb to be more precise) and bought the Keyboard Cover since they have a deal on it for $80 with the 64GB tablet purchase.
Review:
Having just recently purchased the Tab S3 (I have a tech obsession problem) with its companion keyboard cover, I can compare them. For whatever reason, the Tab S3 keyboard cover is better all around, from attachment method to way you use it. This one is just terrible on every front.
Pros:
-Activates Dex mode
-The keys are responsive.
Cons:
-The way the tablet fits into this cover via snapping into a holder. I liked the magnetic setup of the Tab S3's type cover
-While it is clearly a slightly larger cover than the Tab S3, it feels 50% to 100% heavier. When the tablet itself is only about 10% heavier than the Tab S3's Tablet.
-The wrist rest terminates into a hard rounded ridge, so it feels like you're typing in a well. Where on the Tab S3 there is about an inch of rest there.
-Given the black color, and wider border on the sides of the keyboard, it makes it feel more cramped than the Tab S3 though they're the exact same size.
-Just like with the Tab S3, I wished there were secondary functions and a FN key, instead we get a lang and keyboard key.
-Because this doesn't have a home button and there isn't a shortcut I found to act as a home key, you have to swipe up on the screen to hit home (if you hide your navigation keys). Not the best.
-The texture on the case itself feels gross, cheap, and rubbery. So YAY, it won't slide around, but the soft touch feel of the Tab S3 cover feels better and more premium.
-There's a cutout for the camera, the Tab S3 covers its up. Living in a dusty environment, it just means its a nice new well for dust to get trapped in.
Conclusion:
They could have done better. I'd get rid of the ridge in the front since it hits the fat of your hand at a sharp and awkward angle, and I bet that would make this infinitely better.
appreciate the review.
in addition to all your points, i wish it also had more than a single angle.
Is it a good every day case? I have a Tab S2 (8") and the official case (the one that snaps into the holes on the back of the tablet).
Most if the time I'll be using the tablet out of Dex mode. When folded behind the tablet does the keyboard get in the way? Should I buy another non keyboard case for every day use?

Yeah, you do have a good point, but there are lighter options out there. Being able to literally compare both the Tab S4's keyboard case and the Tab S3's side to side is what made me annoyed with this years take on the keyboard case, especially since they really hit it out of the park with last year's.
I wish the keyboard case had an easy way to open and just lay flat. It appears it will lay flat but have the keyboard exposed on the bottom, or you can rotate slightly to lay flat with the keyboard protected under the tablet but several rows of keys are still exposed. I liked the way the S3 cover had several angles including one that had the device lay flat for reading.
Glad I'm Getting mine free through Samsung. Doesn't sound worth the price
The keyboard cover sucks IMO. I ordered an $8 magnet case and will be using my faithful old Logitech K480 for my typing needs.
without a touchpad this is a non starter for me.
I wrote a critical review on the Samsung store website. I wonder if it will make it past moderation.

The pen snaps into the holder if you put it in tip first, if it doesn't click it will fall out, but it extremely safe when snapped in. Dont have keyboard version, but same holder on book cover(nice case btw)

That's weird. My pen clicks in on the keyboard cover. Yes, it requires some pressure but then it just makes a nice audible "click" and I doubt it will just fall out by itself.
Yes exactly. That's what I'm saying
Thanks for the review OP. I was thinking of getting the samsung keyboard cover. but after spending a $1000 for my tab s4 256 lte Korean version. I checked my old gadgets box and I found my foldable bluetooth keyboard+trackpad. It worked just fine! easy to carry. works with Dex too!

I hope I like the Tab S4's keyboard cover when it arrives more than you do.
I have a Tab S3 with keyboard cover and, although its keyboard has great action, it also has many shortcomings: no camera cut-out in the moulding, no proper place for the pen, no closed cover detection by the tablet, and so on.
Samsung has yet to "hit it out of the park" with these covers. Even if they had designed it perfectly, the accompanying price tag is absurd. The only way the keyboard cover made sense on the Tab S3 and now again on the Tab S4 is as a freebie with a pre-ordered tablet, which is how I've done it both times. As much as I like the keyboard in use, I certainly wouldn't dream of paying €150 for it.

Just a quick note here - there is a shortcut for home. It's listed as Meta + Enter in the settings. It took me quite a while to figure out that Meta is the search key right next to Ctrl on keyboard cover, but it works like a charm. There's couple other shortcuts (for back, for displaying notifications), and there's a shortcut for displaying shortcuts, Meta + / (otherwise, the list is buried deep in the settings under physical keyboard). Note that this is context sensitive - the shortcut list is a bit different in Dex mode and it also shows applications shortcuts in certain applications like Chrome.
The only thing I am missing is the ability to change the shortcuts mappings/create my own.
Have the free keyboards started to arrive in the UK?

Still waiting for mine but it has now moved up to processed
Sold mine, pretty useless for a $150 cover esp. since it doesn't wake the tablet or have a touchpad for true dex mode. Got a K480 and bluetooth mouse combo for $20 that works way better for DeX.

I'm having a heck of a time figuring out how to use the keyboard (not in Dex mode). For example, If I try to type a question mark, it should be Shift+6 I would think, but I get a ^ like a regular keyboard. I've tried every combination of shift, control, search key (Meta), alt, Alt Gr etc with 6 but there is no way I can produce a ?. Some of the other keys work with the shift key but some do not.
I haven't been able to find any explanations or instructions other than the small pop-up screen in the keyboard settings. I'd appreciate any pointers as to where I can find the instructions.

Why would Shift+6 be question mark? It's '^' on mine. Did you somehow managed get French version of the keyboard or something? Mine has standard US layout as seen in the attachment here:

And yes, using different keyboard layout is kind of tricky - you first have to have it add it for on-screen keyboard (General Management -> On-screen keyboard -> Samunsung Keyboard -> Manage Input Languages) and then you can configure it for keyboard cover (General Management -> Physical Keyboard -> (choose your language) -> (choose layout) . Plus it's very limited, I'd like to use different layout for my 2nd language keyboard but can't do that.
