Read the very first post on this forum. It suggests an appeals process that starts by communicating to a moderator via private messages rather than on the forum itself. I would suggest sending a (polite) private message to the moderater that closed the thread. They are usually polite if you are polite.

Hi,
I think he probably meant THIS ONE
Particularly the "General Section" and what NOT to post .
I appreciate that this is not a sticky in this this forum, and maybe the mod could implement it.

Here is another link.
I am sure an orientation video and/or a thread can be implemented for newbies so that they don't commit the cardinal sin of posting in the wrong thread. Despite all that, if they still committed the sin, then a mandatory participation in a confessional/atonement thread could remedy the damage.

Here's an idea; instead of posting in the wrong section and seemingly not caring about it all, why don't you just report your own post instead of saying "mods take it down"? You know pstevep doesn't have all the time in the world to be waiting for someone to post "mods take it down" somewhere in the forum in some topic?

Please advise in how to do this. I have been a member of this forum for about a year now and just really started to put up posts and ask questions. So please forgive a mofo if he/she doesn't get it right the first time.

HC custom ROMs

What makes them better than the stock ROM?
Just would like to know.
Not to pick up on anything, but so far I see no reason to install any of them.
I like HTC Sense, so de-sensed are out of the picture for me.
I might be wrong.

No "in case it does not"... it doesn't. Please read the rules about posting in the correct section. I would think that a member with over 200 posts and a member since 2009 would know better.

I know right? First he posts about multiupload being shutdown in the dev section.. I'm surprised no one said anything to him then. Then when I said that it wasnt multiupload that was shut down he replied "no and no" and I took that tone as being kind of a jerk, then when I explained it further and all the other guys said the same thing he changed his tune.. he didnt even admit he was wrong.. then he posts this thread in the dev section which has no business being here.. and when a guy tells him he posted in the wrong section he says "wrong answer" which I took as him being a jerk again.. but the truth is "wrong section" IS the correct answer for this thread in this section... and if he had posted in the correct section then maybe he would have already had an answer to his question
nnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn
The custom roms mostly have tweaks that are not visually apparent, but make a difference behind the scenes, such as longer lasting battery or smoother performance. If you read the list of features for one of the custom roms (I am using LeeDroid's) you can see that he has changed a lot.

[Q] SIM Unlock

hey guys, I have a question : i have a galaxy s2 phone bought from france, but now i'm in lebanon and i need to use it with a lebanese sim card. the problem is that lebanese cell companies have restricted the use of cell phones that do not have their imei registrated with their companies. Is there a way i could unlock my phone to work with a lebanese sim ? Or should i say unlock the sim ?
I am very confused, if someone could explain to me how this lock works and how to get my phone working in lebanon. Thank you very much in advance !!
Based on your description of the issue, it sounds like you can't do much (or anything) on your end of things... If the carrier requires an IMEI registration, it wouldn't matter whether your phone is unlocked or not, since the carrier still needs to recognize your IMEI. I don't know how the process works, but I would guess you'll need to talk to the carrier about having your phone "registered".
I have to say, their policy is quite retarded, if that's true...
Are you serious?
There is clearly a [Q] here, so don't you think that Q&A is the appropriate subforum?!
Also you when you categorized your thread as a question thread, you probably got a popup message stating that you're about to break forum rules by posting the thread in the wrong subforum, but you still went on and posted it here anyway.
Not to mention that there's a sticky thread on top of this subforum saying that this, what you have done, is against forum rules.
Thread reported.

Okay, first of all, let me just state that this post was, before i reported it, in the Galaxy S II General subforum.
Second, just because my join date is recent doesnt mean im a complete idiot that can't read rules and start my period on new forums by breaking rules, there are plenty of people out there who knows to read rules before entering a forum..
Also, how is this flaming?! Please explain.
I was simply telling this member that he was breaking forum rules, maybe a bit harsh or not, since you get several warnins in several ways if you're about to break forum rules.
At least it was a more interesting problem than the usual repetetive tripe that appears on here.
Ive not heard of the OP's problem before.
Correct, having a recent join date doesn't mean you're an idiot, that's not what I said. Thanks for reading the forum rules, not many do. Flaming is verbally attacking someone, so technically, maybe you could class it as not flaming. Either way, it's a harsh way to enter a forum with that kind of greeting. True the OP may have posted in the incorrect section, but next time there's no need to be harsh about it. Apologies if I've over-reacted. End of discussion on my part, this isn't helping anyone.

I could understand that he bypassed sticky threads, or the he/she didn't actually read rules of posting. But i couldn't understand how he bypassed a popup warning that appears if you post a question in wrong subforum. So that's what got me angry.
But maybe i overreacted too, you cant expect anyone to know everything, even if you know that everything has some forms of rules, which you clearly should know about, otherwise there wouldn't be any rules
well i dont either want this to be an unrelated discussion, so i'll just say Im sorry for overreacting. To you Hopper and to OP (if he/she will even read this )

Wrong section
Considering that you can't even post in the right section, don't try it out.
Thread moved to the correct section. Please check and double check which section you're posting in next time.
To those that replied, please instead of blaming the user for posting in the incorrect section just report the post so we get notified about this, and a moderator will then move it to the right place. This saves clogging up the place with unnecessary replies.
Whether the thread is posted in the correct section or not, it would be courteous for you to provide an answer to his question anyway.
Thank you!

Why did my JPay JP5S thread get deleted?

Hello.
I had started a thread a while back about "Installing Google Play Services on JPay JP5S tablet" - in the Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting forum.
Now, all of a sudden, it appears to have been deleted without explanation. Can someone tell me why? Did the thread violate some XDA forum rule? If so, what rule?
I'd appreciate any assistance with this inquiry. I'm new to this forum, but I don't want to repeat any mistakes if I made any.

Hello new fellow ! Welcome to XDA.
First of all, have a look at the rules, it's short and you'll find why your post vanished.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/announcement.php?a=81
Second of all, most newbies here misplaces post, so:
Questions post belongs to Q'n'A section only.
Also, XDA is a very big forum! So always prefer reading over asking, because if you had an issue someone surely had it before. And reposting the same question make the site more and more slower.
A big mistake newbies make is asking before even searching on Google, XDA isn't the only place in the web to find answers, so please, search deeply before posting.
XDA was once accused (a little less now) of "n00b bashing" because more experimented users had harsh responses to questions they saw everytime. If you read thoroughly before posting, this won't happen.
Also, be respectful, etc...
Everytime someone helps you with a post, please hit the "thank" button. It's the way you say thank you instead of saying thank you on a post (that saturate XDA for nothing).
Finally, when you report a bug, please make a logcat and attach it to your post. That's the most common mistakes that even senior members make sometimes.
Also check out the "XDA New user Guide" (1) and a How to logcat thread (2)
1)https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1699450
2)https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1726238
Thanks for asking that, very few new ones takes time thinking how they can better act here on XDA, showing you will to do better proves that every person with a little bit of common sense know that internet has rules also, and that a forum doesn't organize itself alone.
Thank again
Have a good day

Thanks, but your reply still does not shed any light on why my thread was deleted.
I may be a noob to this forum, but I am not a noob to forums in general. I had already read the forum rules, and I believed then (and still believe now) that my thread had complied with the rules.
In particular, I had conducted a search prior to posting, but there were (and still are) no threads on the topic. A current search of "JPay JP5S" reveals five hits: two threads (one of which is my old thread) which are deleted, two threads which I do not yet have permission to access (but which deal with different topics anyways), and this thread here. Thus, my thread was not redundant of a previously asked and answered question.
Is the JPay JP5S a taboo or forbidden topic to discuss? If so, an indication to that effect would be nice. If not, I would still like to know why my thread was deleted. Again, I obviously don't want to repeat whatever mistake I might have made with the last one, if I made any.

That's weird indeed...
There aren't any taboos in XDA regarding this device... You could also try to PM moderators to know what's the issue with your thread, but include this time what you said in it, so you can have explanations. I can't tell you since the thread isn't in front of me. Here is the list of mods in XDA:
https://docs.google.com/document/d/1lK5rP103OL3StU3q9iqwX9LU_k8XABeSQIAT3EHCqgM/pub
They're all nice
Pick one in the "all other forums" section of the document and try to contact him about that.

It has been handled. As the RC already mentioned, please do not hesitate using the "Report Button", when you believe that a violation of the forum rules has occurred. Like this we can take care of situations like this way faster.
Thx for your understanding.

Not to revive this dead thread, but if it's okay to discuss the JP5, then why did *every* thread about it disappear? I get that there were a bunch of people trying to sell services, but why not just delete their posts? There was a 50-some page thread that contained invaluable info that simply doesn't seem to exist anywhere now, and even Google Cache and Wayback Machine are basically useless. It sure *looks* like the JPay people "got to" XDA or something.
If anyone can at least provide a link to the needed files to "unlock" these things, that'd be awesome. Or better yet, can we start a new thread without it going poof? (Or best yet, could that old one ever be restored?)
I am also looking for the files to unlock my jp5 tablet. I also have a jp6 tablet I'd like to unlock. Any help would be great. $ is not an issue
Anyluck?
