Why there is no Hack, Unnoficial Rom, in this famous Lumia 920 ? - Nokia Lumia 920

Hello,
I'm senior member, and i don't understand why there is no hack, unnoficial rom, or challenge about the Lumia 920 hacking.
It's a very very good phone, like the venerable HTC HD2, but....why there is a little subject in the Lumia 920 Windows Phone Development ?
I know Windows Phone 8 is newer and we need hacker but i hope we could doing amazing things like the other phones

Because like the 900 before it, it is impossible to crack the boot loader and so most devs have given up.

So....i'm sure that our famous Cotulla can do it

It's why I'm still in possession of two HTC Titan I (Eternity); it is the last WP device to be successfully HSPL but it is by no means a sure thing as later "new" Eternities were a crap shoot when it came to unlocking their bootloaders.

Hopefully someone can crack the bootloader

Nobody here is responsible for your inability to read. Please go to General forum and look for a post named something similar to Debranding X10. It took me less than 30 seconds to read, understand, and download what is needed, and 5 minutes to have an X10 debranded.
Please stop wasting everybody's time.
By the way, nobody's mom is responsible either for your lack of attention when you're playing with a 500$ phone. If you bricked your phone, you did it all by yourself.
Please mods, delete or close this topic as it's going nowhere (abuse reported)

in simple words Ken ... X10I/A doesnt have a custom ROM yet .. its still under R&D by our skiiled mates.. have some paitence and wait and maybe if u dont get burned for all the previous posts.. do keep checking back
I'm glad that he doesn't see it as wasting our time
But the developments are going strong. I even read in a topic about the rooting of the Desire that Modaco will buy an X10 and try to root this (but this is just a rumour)

Since root hasn't been accomplished yet, not much customization of the X10 is possible.......but why would you ever want WM6.5 on an Android phone!?!?!?
Why would you buy an Android phone if you prefer WM......
WM is such an old and crappy OS, and I doubt WM7 will be any better, MS should just get out of the mobile game........

Ya, I've played with WM 6.5 and Sense on my HTC Touch, and I won't disagree that it looks and runs very simliar, but that's just the home screen, underneath it all, it's still WinMo......
I was a die hard WinMo fanboy back when there wasn't too many other options, but I don't think anyone will disagree when I say WinMo doesn't compare to Android.
Does HTC even make WinMo handsets anymore? I think the last one was the Touch Pro 2, and that was a while ago.....
Don't get me wrong I'm not a WinMo hater, but I just think there is way better options out there today.......

Ya, so did I, and win 6.5 on a Touch is not even close to whats on actual devices. The touch version is stripped and is a farcry from what the HD2 winmo offers. It's very different.
However, I also think droid is thee best OS around and love it. It's a shame we are stuck with 1.6 atm and until Q4 according to Sony, but hopefully that will change soon with the talented individuals here at XDA workin hard at getting the x10 rooted.

First this isn´t the right place to start this thread, secondly not all android phones get updated, and there are a lot of them that don't have any developers to cook new roms, also I own a first generation wp and it go updated to no-do, mango, tango, and in a few days to wp 7.8

No, the ROMs are signed. Basically this signature ensures that the ROM hasn't been altered. It's also not possible to re-create the signature, that's the point of it.
For this, you'd need a SPL (the part that installs the ROM and lies on the phone) with its signature checks disabled (also called Hard SPL, HSPL) and that hasn't been created so far. From what I know, DFT isn't working on this either.
Therefore, it's not possible to flash any non-manufacturer ROMs on the device. It might become possible in the future, but I have my doubts.

To be honest, it's rather unlikely that this would happen. Afaik, DFT were the only ones working on HSPLs and from what I read they haven't gathered enough money to purchase a Titan II. Furthermore, it took 8 months for the original Titan to see such an unlock - and the Titan II is likely better protected than the older model. From the 2nd gen phones, only the HTC Radar/Titan and the Lumia 710 have really been broken so far.
I wouldn't expect to see a HSPL for the Titan II anytime soon, if it is to come at all.

Developement status about L800

Im starting to regret that i bought this phone.
DLOAD bootloader still locked after a half of year. No active developer and no interest from the famous DFT team. Shame. What do you think i want a unlocked phone, should i sell my lumia 800 ?

It's not like our devices will stop to working when WP8 is released. Another thing: no one is preventing you from messing around with the bootloader, there is a lot of information in the Dev. thread to get you started on working with the BL. And saying there is no progress in Development and Hacking on the Lumia 800 is just plain wrong...
No,it will not stop working, but there is no development for us with DLOAD bootloader(90% percent if not more)...

How is there no development? Developers will still try to target as much devices as possible. And you call a 103 page thread about the bootloader no development?

What are you referring to by "doesn't" work? The technique there works for every Lumia 710 user and some Lumia 800 users. The thread contains valuable information about the bootloader itself and the filesystem on the phone. By saying that "nothing has been achieved" you are ignoring and offending the hard work of tenths of developers that risked bricking their devices by doing pioneer work. This thread has a great number of explained approaches how different levels of unlocks could be achieved and discusses how the current methods are blocked. Even by reading the last two pages you can see that there is still some movement. But most users just come here and complain without even trying to help to improve the situation.
If a fully unlocked phone is your priority, and the features that comes with it, you've chosen the wrong OS. Don't buy a phone expecting it to be unlockable. Your fault really.
Buy an android if you want a hacked device.
Sent from my Lumia 800 using XDA Windows Phone 7 App
Im not really talking about OS. Im a .NET developer and i want to experiment with interlop services in developement, also all of the otger devices like HTC Titan are fully unlocked so its a shame that Lumia family stays locked and even if i read whole DEV tread and i know everything about bootloaders in lumias, nothing interesting was achieved in DLOAD territory DEV thread is now filled with speculations but not with the actual progress.
Well, there's an easy solution for $99/yr

Right, never owned a windows mobile in my life, Im an android person, but Ive just bought a nokia lumia 800. The phone is a few months old but its in decent condition for its age. What can i do with this phone OR do to it (without screwing it up). if your lumia has a qualcomm bootloader your free to install the custom rom in the dev thread on here but as i have found your phone might be on 7.35.0.0 and come up as qualcomm device but if you dont have access to the nand (in windows it would come up as a flash disc) then your pretty much stuck with stock roms and stock apps untill the dload bootloader is cracked. have a read in the dev forum there quite bit of info to get you started

Tip for when you need the phone to last longer (like weekend visits etc.)
Sync and mobile data is a huge battey drain. Disable mobile data and it the phone will last for days.
My advice is go slow..
With Android, most of the stock google applications like gmail were garbage so you had to go to the marketplace to find better versions.
Also, you have to root Android phones to get rid of crapware installed by carriers.
With WP7 and the Lumia..
Like iPhone, all the stock applications are excellent quality. The Mail program for instance is second to none; I don't even have any supplemental programs to it..
Also, while the Lumia will come with carrier crapware, you have probably already found out you can simply longpress and delete these with out jailbreaking or rooting. I understand this was a rule Microsoft imposed on all carrier programs to create another selling point for WP7..
So the only reason you would need to unlock would be to install homebrew applications, custom roms, or simply dicker around with the phone. All of which are fun to do but unnecessary.
In short, I found with Android (I had a Samsung Vibrant), you HAVE to unlock and Root just to have a good quality system. With WP7, you don't - the phone is good out of the gate and you only need to Root & jailbreak to do some higher level experimenting.
Good luck - hope you enjoy the phone!
What should I do?

Hello,
I have some carrier crapware into my Lumia 800 - it doesn`t let me to use another SIM card but the provider`s (it`s locked on Bouygues Telecom - France) And I was wondering if a NOOB`s guide to interop unlock my phone exists. Thanks.
Android convert
My first visit to the lumia 800 forums and I am in the same boat as the op.
I've been an android fanboy for several years (htc desire, samsung galaxy s, htc sensation, htc one x, acer iconica a500) and have found myself obsessed to the point of addiction. Yesterday, I bit the bullitt, put my one x on e-bay and ordered a network un-locked lumia 800 to be delivered today.
I would like advice on how to unlock the full potential of my device and will be reading this forum very carefully before I do anything risky but, before I start, could somebody possibly advise as to wether there is anything that is important to address before and during my initial set-up?
Hopefully I will not become too obsessed with my new venture and any informed advice would be much appreciated to a windows phone noob
ps Had a windows mobile 6.5 device a few years ago

First few hours on the device and loving it. Couldn't sync google contacts which was really bothering me but did an update whilst searching for a solution and the update had solved the problem!
Would love to 'jailbreak' it (like to mess) but, rightly or wrongly, I am getting the impression that it's not possible on this. Any ideas how to do this? Is it like root access.
It's all very different to android but makes a great change so I think I'll be staying with this little beauty for some time.
