Anyone get Horn to work? - Nook HD, HD+ Themes and Apps

One of my favorite games is the game Horn. I use to play it on my Tegra tablet, but can't get it to load up on either the stock system or CM10.1.
The screen goes black with the normal navigation buttons on the bottom, but nothing ever loads on the screen.
I have to click on the home button to exit and then the system runs choppy until I force close on the app.
Anyone have any luck getting it to run?

Captain America: Sentinel of Liberty

Works great on the NC (CM7)! Just be sure to hide the menu buttons when they show up.
Available in Android Market for $0.99 for a limited time.
Not available for me. What's up?
Did you do a special build.prop edit to allow it to be shown?
Nope didn't do anything special. I had to specifically do a search for "Captain America Sentinel of Liberty" in the market to find it though.
I'm running CM RC1 if that helps.
EDIT: Interesting, I just checked market.android.com from my PC and it says that its not compatible with the Nook. But when I did the search using the market app on the Nook, it found it and I was able to purchase, install, and play it.
If you got the new crappy Google Market, you can't get it.
I can find it in the market but can't download it. Sucks you can't get the Gmarket not to update, mine came through OTA.
Does anyone know if you kill / delete Market Updater.apk, does it jack up your system and G Market?
Yes.
I'd wiped my data/cache as well with the last NB and had the 6/13 gapps. Low and behold, after acknowledging the license it started the new market.
Looks like we need to start sending email to the app devs to please consider android tablet users that don't necessarily have GPS. Location services are still possible by Wi-Fi (although not as accurate), but should be sufficient for the dev's needs.
Google maps works for me with fairly close accuracy as the various phones have been updating their hotspot maps over time.

Did you perhaps alter your device ID in build.prop to get Netflix or Hulu working?
Update: just had no issues buying it over the old market with device IDed as Nook Color.
Update 2: Weeeeelll... the app is playable (and decent) once you get through the menus, but touch input isn't properly mapped to the menus, so you're pretty much tapping around the screen by trial and error to figure out how to move along. To top it off, none of the softkeys work except "home"--back and menu are useless. If you can manage to get into the game, it plays fine.

If you hide the menu buttons, how do you exit the game since only way is to press HOME button?
Also some times, the volume key to bring back the menu buttons doesnt work.

I press the 'n' button.
Also the game menu items are mapped properly if you hide the CM7 menu bar.
How do you solve the problem with corrupt graphics?
Have u connected status bar with n button?

I have my 'n' button set to go back to the home screen. Status bar / menu buttons always come back when it goes back to the home screen.

The problem with most games is, yes you have the status bar on your homescreen, but there's no way to get it back in-game without force closing via App Manager and starting over. Some games rely on the back button and/or menu button to navigate, especially to change any settings or really exit the app.

Hmm, don't know what to tell you here. I don't do much gaming, so I can't comment on most games. But in this one, as with all of the Angry Birds games, the in-game menu (via the pause button) works just fine for me. It's not working for you?

A lot of games (and some other apps) are built assuming you have a Menu and Back button, and don't have anything on-screen to access menu functions, or to get back to the main menu if you're on a setting screen and have hidden the status bar.
ETA: you know what, not only is there a solution to this issue, but I discovered, implemented, and promptly forgot that solution months ago. In the CyanogenMod>Tablet Tweaks settings, you can set any of the hardware buttons to also unhide the status bar. I had already assigned Vol+

Not only that, but you can also put the Home, Menu and Back buttons in the MENU that comes up when you hold the power button.

[Q] when minimize, app hibernating or running in background?

well, on the ipad, or any ios device, when apps are minimize, they "freeze" or hibernate, using minimal resources. (correct me if i'm wrong)
android is good at multi tasking, but i hope there's more control over this.
running in the background is not always a good thing.
example, while browsing, the page is loading a youtube video, i minimize and go have use another app, the browser video will continue to load while i'm in the other app. even if i lock my device, the browser video continue to load.
thats good if i want to multi task.
but sometimes, if i'm playing a game, i just want "freeze" it and continue later, maybe few hours later. so i minimize it and lock screen. but this may cause the device to not enter "sleep mode" and draining power as if it was running.
not all apps behave this way, i'm confuse as well. this is not a tab specific problem, my sgs2 as well, maybe all android device too.
my friend can calmly press the home button and lock screen on her ipad and never worry about power.
but i have to worry constantly whether or not the minimized app is draining power.
is there a way to know the minimized app is still running at back ground or able to "freeze"?
or better yet, is there a way to choose how we want it?, free or running at background after minimize.
PS: please dont recomend me to buy the ipad, i'm more of a android person.

Run an app called os monitor or watch dog and you can see what app is using up resources.

If an App is running in the background (not to be mistaken with Services or System Apps like the browser) you usually should have a notification in the system bar;
If it doesnt show, then the app is hibernating.
For the majority of apps it's just to switch the home button and don't worry, this is how it should be. However, a few games that I've tried are still using CPU resources if I don't select quit from within the game. You can use the in built Task manager to check this.
I don't worry for anything but games - and I just check the behavior once after install.

[Q] Best video player to use with cm10

I'm curious as to what the best performing video players people are using with cm10. I'm currently running the SGT7 cm10 rom. I've found that mx player has the best compatibility but unfortunately it doesn't run full screen (the area where the status bar resides remains black with grey dots where the soft buttons are located.) Dice player runs full screen but is pretty buggy with this rom, it refuses to play many videos or force closes after a few minutes. The VLC beta runs full screen but crashes like Dice player too often. Suggestions?

there should be a setting to hide the status bar when an app tries to go full screen.

I dug around in my settings and realized I had the "force tablet ui" button checked, which was causing the status bar ghosts. MX player works as usual now.

Hide running app under overlay image

Is there an app which draw an image on top of a running app in the foreground?
Here is the scenario:
- I am playing a game, let's say Pokemon Go
- This app in question would show a floating button
- If I press that button, an image will be drawn on the screen, covering the Pokemon Go app
- If I touch the screen, the image will be removed and I will see Pokemon Go app again
Yes, I want to be able to easily hide what is currently running on my phone lol, like a game for example. And the game won't run in the background.

Virtual game pad only displays on second screen

Has anyone else had an problem with getting the virtual game pad to show on main screen? When I open it, it opens to the 2nd screen but I cant swap it to the first screen.
Yes. I can't exactly figure out the steps that fixed it, but by exiting out of the game launcher itself, the game I wanted to play, and the GamePad, then starting the game and putting it on the second screen, then launching the GamePad again put it back on the main screen. once again, I don't know which exact step is the one that fixed it but going through all of them should do it for you.
I figured out a way to get it to work every time, when the app is open on the second screen clicking the game options icon on the navbar on the second screen has an option to open the game pad and it always opens on the main screen
Same problem here. Will try ur step later. Thx.
After toying with it now I think I have it figured out.
The game pad will always open on whichever screen the game launcher is NOT on.
If you want the game pad to launch in the main screen, always have the game launcher on the left screen when you press the game pad button
