Samsung S2 battery problem!! - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello, so Ive just updated my Samsung s2 to the nexus ROM 4.2.2 and the battery is doing just fine, the problem is when I lock my phone, the battery runs out like if I was using it normally. I've tried setcpu app but it doesn't seem to work. For example yesterday at 12 am my battery was at 40% and I slept for a few hours than I woke up at 5 am and my phone was already off. I didn't have this problem on jb 4.1.2. Please I need help! Thank you

I'm not sure..... I don't seem to have that problem.

Install Better battery stats from Android Apps & games section. Enable watchdog in settings, then check out if any app is waking up during sleep!! On JB for me battery drain on sleep is quite low!

OK I'll try but if it doesn't work, I might change my ROM so which one do you recommend me for the s2?

Boot into recovery and wipe cache and dalvik cache and fix permissions. If that doesn't help, download BetterBatteryStats and see if apps are causing kernel wakelocks (not letting your phone go into deep sleep) meaning keeping it awake and using CPU.

Without any other information this history information is absolutely useless. If there is any problem at all you can solve it by doing what themadba suggested in post #3.

The battery history you posted is plain useless.
However, if you have autosync enabled, then disable it

lol u too ?
So how do u manage with this problem ?
Simple solution is to use any battery caliberation app from googleplay (some require root).
1. Caliberate after charging to 100%
2. Let the battery discharge full.
3. Charge again completely without disconnecting.

Omega v34 ROM

Hi,
I am using Omega v34 ROM and battery very, very bad. On stock rom I had, at least one full day of usage, but now it is a figt to go through working day (7-9h).
I wiped battery stats following a procedure, but that didn't help at all.
And one more thing TouchWizz is crashing at least 5 times a day.

You would need to provide more information.
Have you check what's draining your battery? (you can find a general list in settings--> battery)
You should also try to use better battery stats and ask on the BBS thread/forum for help there to see what the culprit is.
I have between 8hrs to almost 2 days depending on usage.
It seems like screen is using allmost 40% of battery.

set it to automatic brightness. Also use better battery stats and do a full day or night log and ask for help in their forum to see what might be draining your phone.

As mentioned above, sounds like you might have a wakelock somewhere. You can identify any rogue apps with better battery stats and then uninstall or freeze them. Try using power saving mode, you shouldn't really notice any decrease in performance but your battery life will improve. You should be able to get screen on time off about 3 - 4 hours.

I have a Juice defender ultimate and JD is taking care of brightness (but never over 65%).
How can I do this log?

You can use software which are paid and free on Google play. ....

Stop using those apps. They use more battery than they save.

"battery saving" apps are really bad for your phone to begin with. remove that junk first. It's probably one ofnthe culprits keeping your phone awake.
then do the BBS thing I mentioned earlier.

Issues connecting to unsecured wifi hotspots
Using Omega v34 and love it! but when I try to connect to my unsecure wifi at work it won't connect. Please help
There seems to have been quite a lot of discussion regarding issues with battery life on Omega 34, in the Omega thread. Because of battery issues that some people are experiencing, Chris_84 has a suggestion in his FAQ (question 27).
You could try a different kernel. Apparently the Yank kernel is pretty good for battery life (I use Siyah version 1.8.4 with Omega 34 and get brilliant results, but then I don't use my phone that heavily. The Siyah kernel allows you to tweak some settings that help with battery).
Also, a lot of comments in the Omega thread talk about installing BBS (Better Battery Stats, as per the comments by mputtr) and posting the log file into the BBS thread (or even in the Omega thread).

Not sure, but have you tried;
a) Removing the WiFi profile off your phone and setting it up again.
or
b) Reset the router (if work let you)...

you can try to clear battery stats after charging your battery to 100%, maybe it will help, but my opinion is most xperias have poor battery performance. I tried to do a lot of things but nothing worked.

Well I saw tht your WiFi was On almost continuously... Turn it off when you dont need it... WiFi is one of the main reason for battery drain... And if you can't do it manually then install some battery saving app like juice defender wich will turn off WiFi when not in use...
My phone runs almost 1 day with moderate use of WiFi, tht is turning on only when needed else off... If I keep it on always my phone runs out of battery within 8-10 hrs.

No matter if your phone is in deep sleep or not... If your WiFi is on even in deep sleep it will still drain the battery... So try with WiFi off 1st..
N the thing with battery stats after restarting thing...
Download battery calibration from play store n calibrate it when you r charged 100% that will hopefully solve the stats problem... But battery calibrator needs root.

during deep sleep my wifi is off chek my screenshots that are posted...
ohk ohk ill try batery caliberator and tell u the results
Battery calibration is not needed, it wont do anything - everytime you charge your phone and unplug it android system makes new battery stats.
WiFi is may be drainig cause look at the blue line after WiFi - it doesn let the phone fully sleeps. So try turning it off (android percentage is very high too, may because of WiFi)

Well that happened coz before there were some apps running in the background so it gave you backup of 16hrs but after the reboot those apps were killed n maybe you didn't open those certain apps after reboot and thts how u got more backup...
So do one thing, download 'auto memory manger ' from play store, its red color icon with tools On it... It kills all the unnecessary apps running in the background draining your battery... On the first start it will guide you through On how to set it up according to your needs.. Try it... Works gud.

From the screenshots, I noticed that your cell phone wasn't receiving signals throughout the deep sleep mode. If the phone isn't receiving signals, or is receiving low signals (1 bar), the phone automatically puts more battery juice into the radio transceiver to catch better reception.
Its possible that your phone has been expending its battery throughout the night to catch better reception - try putting it in a better place with more reception during the night, or in Airplane mode in case reception during the night isn't vital/important for you.

Okay good to hear that its rooted...
Follow this link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2226899 and try it.. Its a script thing but it really works...
This what m using now and its making my battery last much longer... The only difference is that I am using power JB Rom which already includes this, so I didn't have to do it by my self as it was included in the Rom.

[Q] Kernel (Android OS) sucking my battery !! Can Anyone help ??

I have GSam battery monitor installed on my Note 3 (SM-900) running stock JB 4.3 (MK1) ....
Since a last few days I have witnessed battery drain on my phone without any apparent reason....I charge my phone to 100% at night (wifi & 3G data is off at night) & when I wake up after about 8 to 9 hours of sleep I find that the battery is down to 85% !!! Strange isn't it ...
GSam battery monitor says that nearly 67% of battery is used by "App Usage" , on clicking App Usage for bifurcation of battery usage I find that nearly 50% of my battery is used up by "Kernel (Android OS)"......How to control this , any help will be appreciated dear forum friends !!
Please help me to solve this....

Do you have Google Now turned on? If so try turning off location reporting in Google maps and see if it helps, it's made a huge difference on mine.
Turning the location off helps. The GPS kills the battery.
