Just bought the Optimus G - AT&T LG Optimus G

So, I just bought the Optimus G online from AT&T, and should have it by Wednesday. I was wondering what firmware is going to come on it (stock). The site says 4.1JB but many videos are saying 4.0ICS. Whether ICS or JB come stock on the phone I was wondering if it will definitely be rootable? And if so, then maybe link me to a few nice JB roms? I'm new on this site and I've been doing some digging, and I have a few that I'm deciding on, but would also like to see what you guys have! Thank you in advance.
Wayne.

In the General section you'll find a root & unlock thread...that should get you started.
I'd read up on the CM thread by shelnutt and the rootbox/PA thread by houstonn. (I like houstonn's build). Most issues have been sorted out on the aosp roms.
Don't be intimidated by LGPST. It sounds more imposing than it is.
Be aware of TeenyBin (not sure where that thread is) ... depending in which version you LG comes with, you may want to use that tool to upgrade/modify your partitions.
Read read read...ask thoughtful questions after you've read and done a Google search or three.
Good luck/have fun/backup often

[Q] Optimus T custom ROM general question JoeMomRom vs. Ubuntdroid RC1

Since I cannot post in the dev. forum yet I suppose this is a general question.
I see that today Ubuntdroid RC1-Optimus T has been released. Currently I am running JoeMomRomv1-Optimus T and enjoy it. Knowning that most Optimus One and T custom ROMs work on either device (noting that some folks have had issues with battery life leading some to believe that there may be more hardware differences between the two phones) I would like to know if any other Optimus T owners prefer specific custom ROMs for their devices?
I'm on T-Mobile in the US and am overclocked on JoeMomRom OC'd to 729MHz right now. I am most interested in a bloat free ROM with Wifi Calling enabled. Anything that can be installed from the market is not needed in the ROM imho.
On another note as I have not seen anything on the JoeMomRom topic in the dev. forum is it safe to assume Ubuntdroid is going to take over from where JoeMomRom left off?
I'm on void, works great (no bloat). As for the wifi calling, I can see about extracting it from the stock v10l ROM the T ships with.
Yeah, JoeMomRom is dead. If you check the thread, Joseph updated the first post and said so.
I'm satisfied with JMRv1 enough to keep using it until (if) CM7 comes out for our phone.

[Q] I'm confused about this Razr...

I am no expert, I simply enjoy rooting pretty much everything I have relating to technology. Now, the Razr is an amazing phone, and BECAUSE its an amazing phone, I decided NOT to root it until a way to Unbrick became available. Well, that day came (A droidrzr dot come link), so of course, I rooted my Razr and installed the only rom I saw available for the VZW version. Here's the dilemma:
I am in no way making demands or trying to offend anyone, I simply have a question: Are there more ROMS coming out for the RAZR? I have seen all of the mods in these forums, I just have no need for them. I ask because the day my Evo 3D became 'rootable', about 4 or 5 ROMS rolled out right pretty much within hours, and while we DO have a custom ROM for the RAZR, umm...that's it. I appreciate the ROM, I have it installed, but supposedly the big deal was that there was no way to recover from an unbricked RAZR, and now there is, yet there's really no activity in the DEV section aside from people arguing about the locked bootloader.
Maybe I'm just ignorant and the fastboot files don't provide any help at all. I'll attribute that to what I said at the beginning, that I'm not an expert. I was just hoping someone could clarify because I literally check this forum twice a day hoping to see [ROM] at the beginning of a post and [CDMA] right next to it.
Thank you beforehand for any help or clarification!

easy answer
there's no real need of completely modded roms, and roms wich went out, are more optimization roms...
and... ics is on the way, think is a little useless, start thinking of making entire projects on gingerbread, knowing in a month we are going on a really different android version
True, true...but wasn't the ICS source/code already released? Or does it depend from device to device?

[Q] Which is the best ROM available for Canadian Note?

Have been on a research on how to root my device for the past one month. As my device's warranty got over last month I am planning on testing out the rooting.
Is there a Jelly Bean 4.2.2 ROM released for Canadian Galaxy note and if so could somebody please point me to the best ROM available right now.
Read a lot about Paranoid Android ROMS. Are they good? I really liked there idea of delivery notifications regardless of the screen we are in.
Please help.
Thanks again.
"Best threads" are typically frowned upon here. ALL developers work hard and are proud of their work and don't like being compared. Whatever ROM works on the USA Note will work on a Canadian Note. If you want to learn about features then at least read the first post of each of the ROM's threads. Or hold off for a short time until the Canadian 4.1.2 ROM is officially released. Since you don't seem to be in a hurry then take the time to read and learn for yourself. Your other thread has some very good links in it to get you started.

[Q] Recommended ROM to root the S3?

Hi everyone,
I'm trying to decide what ROM I should use to root my new S3 with. The phone came with 4.1.2 installed on it, but I'm fine with either a 4.1.x or a 4.2.x rooted ROM.
The main reason I'm rooting is to be able to use AdAway, so all that I really want from the new (rooted) ROM is to not be worse than the stock ROM, including overall stability and performance, battery life, connectivity etc etc. I figured that if I am to void my warranty, I might at least do it with a rooted ROM that has the minimal amount of known problems.
I read various forum threads in the hopes of finding some 'user reviews' for each of these ROMs, in order to see how happy people have been with each of them over a longer period of time - but it's very hard to compare and come to a conclusion. On the other hand, dedicated websites such as galaxys3root.com and androidrooting.com all recommend different ROMs.
The S3 rooting video on this website seems very well made, but it refers only to various US carriers' versions and to the International version, whereas I have the UK version of the phone.
I am therefore undecided between the many options out there that can be used to root the S3, such as Cyanogenmod, DroidS3, CarbonROM, Metropolis, etc.
I've gotten some good advice in the past from people on this forum, so would much appreciate some advice on this question as well Many thanks in advance!
1) We cannot recommend roms. All recommendation threads turn into "best rom" threads, which turn into arguments. This is why "best romn" threads are not allowed
2) You do not root with a ROM. I think you have a gap in your knowledge. Please read General > Sticky roll-up thread > Understandign teh basics before rooting. All your answers are there.
Thanks for your reply! I've now started reading the sticky thread.
My intention was not to get people to post their opinion on which is the best ROM (it makes sense that such a thread wouldn't go anywhere), but rather I was wondering whether there are polls/user ratings of such ROMs, such that each person can see how the figures of each ROM fares against the others and decide for themselves which one they will use.
Further into your rooting tutorial... I guess I was confusing the terms ROM and kernel.
I followed the steps in your tutorial, I now have a rooted S3 with no custom ROM. Thanks again for all your help on this website.

To be truthful the most popular rom would not be the best it is more likely to be the one that is updated daily and has multiple themes and add ons.
Their are no polls neither is their a single best rom what rom thread . Simple reasons is users will start another what rom best rom thread and ignore the one posted for all such questions ..
best method is to start with the rom that you understand how to flash .

Thanks guys, all rooted and happy now, hope it stays that way. I really appreciate the help that this excellent community provides!

no rs988 development

First off let me say I've been a part of Xda for a while and I can't build a rom so no need for the chastising replies. I recently purchased my rs988. I see for research it took a while to be able to unlock bootloader. How come there really isn't any development for this model? I bought it unlocked because I thought it would be easier to make ROMs. Anybody got some insight I'd appreciate it. Thanks in advance!

here are 2 roms if you want to make it your "own style" use light patch, third thread.
Fulmics dev had asked for rs988 testers months back he has also been busy with college which is stated a few posts above your request on his thread.
Use the "thread search" option and type in rs988 you will then see anything related to that model and see the questions already asked.
We don't want to be all asking the same questions. If you think it's hard to port a rom to a phone you have try doing it for a phone you don't own.
All the work is done for free with more complaints than thank you's.
Fulmics is compatible with the rs988 but is commented out in aroma "probably for a reason". (that's the ROM i would like to see most on the rs988).
i used AOSPA rom with light patch and had great results but lost video calling on verizon so I switched back to stock.

Yeah I'd like fulmics. Asop ROMs are better suited for Nexus and pixels
Just happened to stumble over here. I was pained to see the lack of development as well, so I got off my bum and made an unofficial build of LineageOS 14.1 for the RS988!
Fulmics was the first ROM that I installed when I got my H830. I switched it out for a RS988 barely a week later (T-Mobile locked my H830, grr), and I miss my LG Remote app now.
I'll sign up to be a Fulmics tester.
