[Q] G3 with 900MHz vs. 2100MHz (Lenovo P780) - Lenovo P780

I'm thinking about buying the Lenovo P780 because of its huge battery (4000mAh).
http://www.etotalk.com/lenovo-p780_p3798.html
But I read that it supports 3G only on 2100 MHz and not on 900MHz.
Is this something I have to worry about? I'm living in Germany and use a surf flat provided by vodafone.
Will I have the same speed and 3G availability without 900MHz support?

Got it since yesterday and it´s working very fine also in Germany (both, data traffic and normal calls). No problems at all. Much better than the Zopo - Hero - Caesar I tried before.

I'm intrested in this lenovo p780. Is the 3G-connection ok on 2100 ? I'm living in Belgium.
Is the GPS working fine ?
Quality of the pictures 8 MP and the video ?
Thanks.

Hi neighbour,
Everything is really fine, it's a great phone. GPS, Wifi, calls, data connection, handling in general and the battery should last for at least 3 days for everybody...
The camera is better than Zopo C2, but shurely not the best in the market. There still have to be reasons for the price.
... von unterwegs mit Tapatalk und Lenovo P780...

Some european operators use 900MHz as an auxilary band for 3g.
Main frequency is 2100MHz, mainly in cities, and 900MHz covers some rural areas.
Check your operator and if you should need 900/2100MHz, there are like dozen china phones
that use that frequencies.
My ZTE v987 is one of them...

Camera is fine for me, but perhaps won´t meet your expectations if this is a main purpose.
GPS is working really fine without any problem.
Regarding loss of connection in 900 MHz I did not notice that. But I am living and working in Cologne-Düsseldorf-Wuppertal-Region with a good 2100 MHz net.

Bought it at Etotalk incl. modrom and original flip-case (great thing!) for approx. EUR 280,- incl. DHL. No (!) tax due to "gift"-option.
I tried mainly Google Maps, but also the OsmAnd+ offline maps (included in Etotalk´s modrom).
Genk? My college Didier G. is from Genk, too ... You know Norbord (former Agglo)?

New Lenovo P780 user here as well. Just got this phone today from china supplier.
As expected, no play store in there so tried download the apk and install.
Installed successful but whenever try to launch it open and then close immediately.
Can anyone help me? Thank you.
Firmware is P780_S129_130710, is there a custom ROM already somewhere?

hi, where can you install apps on the lenovo 780, just on the internal ROM ? i read there is just a 750 Mb place for apps on it ?
can't you install apps on the external sd-card ?

I am still confident. The one and only thing I'd prefer would be a clean Android without Lenovo's variations. But that's no big issue.
You can install everything like on any other Android device. If the app allows it also on external SD.

£100 budget help with a good phone

Hi all.
Sorry first if I have put this in the wrong thread but wasn't sure where to ask for help.
Well I currently a nexus 4 owner coming from iPhone 4. I always been a android man just gave iPhone ago.
My wife lost her iPhone 5 so she wants take my beloved nexus. Now I would say no you carnt have it but everybody knows its not that easy.
I have a £100 budget maybe scrape a tiny bit more like £120. But no more then that really.
I would like to get a phone with similar fire power to the nexus and with great dev support for custom roms.
I've seen a few Chinese branded phones with quad core cpus but not sure which one will have great support for on here.
Any advise and where I can buy from will be much appreciated.
Thank you.

In China, Huawei cell phone quality is very good.
£ 100 to buy a good phone with some difficulty.
For a cheap phone, I think the Huawei G300 is pretty nice. You've got a team of developers working on Cyanogenmod for it, as well. It's the best price / performance phone in your budget range. However, it doesn't seem really that compareable to the Nexus 4 (which is great), but there's not much else you can do with your budget!

I would get the 829 unless you can find an 820 with more than 32gb of storage.
This place has really good prices

Depends where you live. If USA, get X829, if Europe or somewhere else, it's better to get the X820. The B20 is not working on X829 and until now nobody managed to make it work.
Also as I've noticed on the forum is that more users with X829 have issues with fingerprint sensor than users with X820.
The perfect buy would be X820 4/64 Grey IMHO.
Finally you should decide.

It depends, the Le max 2 has a much better camera, display, gives more RAM and ROM for the price and the performance is literally 10% slower than the le pro 3 (so you would not see a massive performance lag between the devices, only if you look in the milliseconds which is not very noticeable to the human eye), also the le pro 3 does not have qfiles so if you hard brick it you can NOT revive the mobile and would have to send it for repair, which would take alot of time, this may be why the le max 2 is a much better option.
I have X829, got it last week , with 16s vendor rom, then I flash 19S Indian rom.
there is no issue in the phone, it is amazing and only 170 euro by banggood
also fingerprint sensor work fine.

The same was LeMax2 regarding QFIL files. When the phone was released, there were no files available, they surfaced later after few months (I've done the tutorial in November and the phone was released in May).
Pro3 has some advantages that you haven't mentioned: smaller screen (more pocketable), FHD (it's enough IMHO, and better for the battery and GPU), bigger battery, same RAM, slightly better processor, newer (let's assume that support will be better than LeMax2's as it has a US release). If I wouldn't care about the price, Pro3 would be my choice.

Yeah, I see where you are coming from , it just depends on the user. Also I think at this price point a lot of users would have price as one of their main factors of buying a mobile. My preference would have a larger crisper 2K screen (much better than FHD in VR and because you have no risk with bricking the mobile with no support currently you can easly root the mobile and change the resolution to 1080p to put less strain on the CPU and GPU, I think this is much better than FHD has you get the best of both worlds, VR and typical mobile gaming) , better camera and a lot more RAM and ROM for the price (6GB 128GB variant costed me $250 while the cheapest le pro 3 4GB 32GB variant is $260) and I wouldn't want to be waiting another 3+ months with a hard bricked mobile. And yes the battery on the le pro 3 is much better but for most users the battery time on the Le max 2 is sufficient enough and for still paying less you could buy a power bank. So right now I would still buy the le max 2, but definitely when those QFIL files come for the le pro 3 it would be very difficult to choose from.:good:

Is this phone still worth?

I know is a big deal between price/specs but is not listened anymore at official webpage, don't know if they are re-stocking and If there's a rom stable without battery drains. thanks
I bought this phone in September 2016. I paid about 300$ and i don't regret spending money on it. Only issue i have is that I have 32GB version so only about 25gb is for my using. Phone works smooth and without any lags. I installed Small EUI v15 ROM and no battery drain or smth like this. I have mobile data turned on whole day when i'm at work, and after 11h still have around 45% of battery with moderate using.
I bought mine about a month ago on ebay, spent $220. I honestly wanted the le pro 3 since that one has OTA updates, but it costed a bit more. I dont regret my choice though, phone works great and i installed cuoco's rom which is updated regularly. There's also a lot of development if you like switching roms.

Hello. Use willmyphonework www service.

Request - I need someone to test one application on Poco F1

Hello,
I have one little request for you. I plan to buy a new Pocophone F1 International, but I need to test one app before I buy it.
I'd love to find someone with root and be willing to install this app - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.qtrun.QuickTest
It would be great if the user have some basics of mobile networks. But it's not a condition.
After installing the given application, I need to do screenshots or video (application AZ Screen Recorder) of the whole application environment. This means what the user can see (swipe left/right), Menu, Settings, etc. This application requires Qualcomm processor and root. Unfortunately, I don't have any of it, so I can't test it before buying.
If at least a bit familiar with mobile networks, I would need to know if this mobile supports MIMO 4x4 on basic bands like B1, B3, B7 and B20. Furthermore, e.g. whether it is possible to lock on cells, PCI and the like.
Thank you very much.
Hope this helps.

Now, it will be great to have someone who has some background in mobile networks and test 4x4 MIMO and 4x4 MIMO CA. Because I read that Poco F1 in EU is acting like LTE Cat. 4 or 5 and not like Cat 16/18 as it is written in the specifications.
Can you point us what you want to know ..so that we can re record that portion of app

Look, Poco F1 is rated as LTE-A (4CA) Cat16. This means that it should meet certain conditions. Unfortunately, there are no detail specifications for this mobile phone on the internet.
So I need to test this "situations":
1) You need to find base station which supports carrier aggregation (CA), at least 2 CA and make screenshots/video in that app. The mobile should support up to 4 CAs, but I doubt it very much and I don't know if you can find such a base station.
2) You need to find base station which supports 4x4 MIMO on LTE band (make screenshot/video) and next thing is 4x4 MIMO with CA.
This are two main thing I need to know.
Since Xiaomi does not pay Qualcomm all fees, it is clear that all features will not work. My goal is to find out which ones work and which don't. So far I have found on XDA that Poco F1 in EU is acting like device LTE Cat 4 or 5 and that is a very big degradation from what Xiaomi presents.
