Compatible headphones? - Xperia Tablet Z Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have 2 different headphones here, the original headphone from my arc s and from my old iphone..
The one from arcs is not working with my xtz and the one from the old iphone is working (confusing, different brand works while the same brand didnt) but i dont wanna use it for my xtz cause its old and its dirty.
Now i wonder what kind of headphone will work on my xtz cause im thinking to get either skllcandy or beats?
I cant afford the headphone that comes with NFC
Sent from my SGP311 using xda app-developers app

I also faced this issue with my current headphones and none worked. had to buy a new one from sony
i purchased these http://www.sony.co.in/product/mdr-e8lp but within a month the earbud snapped into 2. now have ordered soundmagic mp21, lets see how they work.
all those which work with xperia z will work with the tablet.

There are two standards used for 3.5 mm audio jacks, OMTP and CTIA/AHJ. The Xperia Tablet Z uses CTIA/AHJ. OMTP type headphones will not work with the Xperia Tablet Z unless accompanied by an OMTP-to-CTIA adapter cable, which costs around $5.00 USD.

Basically, there are two headphone standards. Let's call them type A and type B. Sony has used type A for all its devices until 2012, until with S, they started using the B type, and every device since then by Sony uses type B. Apple has always used type B, that's why it works.

[Q] Made for Iphone earphones distort sound

G'day,
Just bought a set of sony earphones for 70 or 80 bucks with an inline mic with volume control. They're branded as being "Made for iPhone", though I figured that wouldn't be an issue. Turns out it may be, because if i plug them in to my X10 any sound that comes out of them in impossibly distorted. If I hold down the play/pause button, the sound is fine.
If anyone has had similar issues and/or has found a solution for this I would very much like to here from you.
Cheers
That's because the wires for the tip and last ring of the jack are switched for iPhone. I don't know if there's an adaptor available, but you can make your own or just cut / resplice the cable.
what do you mean with "resplice"?
Can't find any definition
I mean cut the cable and then solder them in the correct order
Or, if you don't need the mic, you can ranger-rig it by tying a bind knot around the button like I did.

Just want to share my solution
Just use 3.5mm to 6.35mm and 6.35mm to 3.5mm together only can get stereo volume no mic and button. I have ipod touch 4 and SE x10. I use my x10 stock earphone on my ipod touch 4 it work.
That must be ridiculously bulky and fragile.
Bulky is ok but fragile I disagree. Quite useful solution just simply unplug from the 'combination' that plug to ipod and plug to my x10 then I can make call without swap another pair of earphone.

Its got to stick way out which would make it easy to break, and really hard on the phone.

You can pick up some logitech Pure-Fi mobiles from ebay they are extremely loud and have bluetooth and aux connectivity
Best on market at low price: X-Mini
http://www.amazon.com/X-Mini-Capsul...2?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1311115794&sr=1-2
Got them few months ago and can´t be happier Just don't expect much bass from them, remember they're portable and cheap!!
The X-mini line also has a single speaker solution - even lower cost. Amazon carries these worldwide, or if you are in Europe you can also try pixmania.
I personally recommend this http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B001UEBN42/ref=mp_s_a_1?qid=1311406581&sr=8-1. I own one and have a second on order. The beauty about these little beasties is the have a headphone jack and socket, meaning in theory you could plug an infinite number of these speakers together for more sound. Each has their own battery and usb charger. I paid £12 or something for mine and couldn't be happier.

Fantastic, portable and cheap.
Bought one and when I heard it bought 2 more (One more for me and one for a friend)
Another vote for the X-Mini from me.
Awesome volume and sound from such a small device. Plus you can daisy chain them together!

I own 3 and use them daisy chained. Infact its surprisingly loud. Il tell you a good tip for them, say your in your bath room lay the speakers across the side of the bath and the bath will actually act as a big bass bin. I works really well and it makes quite a big effect on the sound. Perfect for shaving or wash time!

I would prefer one of these
sony bluetooth headphones HBH-IS800 I really hate cables, even the MW600 I have had for years is better than getting tangled in cables when i'm out and about, nice to be able to take the phone out of your pocket without a cable attached. and now with CM7 the track id on the MW600 actually works!!
on topic now.. Comparing the price for the Sony headphones (Live Sound) to Beats by Dr Dre they are actually really reasonably priced.. I have always hated Sony domestic audio gear but their bud headphones the the one exception, they have always been awesome (I payed about 50 Euro ($100 NZD) for a pair of very basic bud headphones from sony 10 years ago and they still go strong) so you cant go wrong with these if you like wired headphones.. I would like to have seen the option to unplug the headphone bit tho so you could use over the head style with the phone controls if you wanted (like you got with the old SE phones) but you can't have everything with Sony anymore.. its one feature or another.. sigh..

Gold plated charging port?!?

I just bought a neo V and i seem to have noticed something very wrong with my phone!
It seems that Sony (Ericsson) has gold plated the charging port instead of the HDMI port!
I know that gold plating is done to improving conductivity, but what's the use of giving a gold plated HDMI cable but not the port itself??
This seems to be a major manufacturing defect to me......
Do all neo (v) users have the same problem??
yes, I guess we all have Gold plated charging port.

well......I don't think that it's supposed to be like that.
Charging ports don't need gold plating.
(Neo V might be the only phone in the world with this!!!)
Don't know how Sony just ignored this manufacturing defect...
I've read in GSMArena(Neo V Review) that they contact Sony about this issue, & they(Sony) accepted its Manufacturing fault with all devices.
any disadvantages if charging port with gold plated?

No Disadvantage, but it was suppose to be for HDMI port ...
I see it on my Neo too. Anyone with a recently manufactured phone?
see that .. i always thought that both ports are gold plated. i guess coz i never used the hdmi port )
btw yes. my HDMI port IS NOT gold plated. the USB however IS.
offtopic: any way to see manufacturing date / factory?
there was a way to see that by decoding IMEI on my old nokia 6630 (AWESOME PIECE OF S**T!! IT STILL WORKS! Oh yea .. its the world first 3G phone ) )

look for something like this 11w26 where you found the SI no. it means 2011. 26th week....
They meant to provide it for both. But the market version ended up with just one. Nothing new, if you researched before buying, you would have known

PreOrder at Vodafone Germany
Well in Germany when u pre-order at Vodafone you get besides the normal Stereo Headset (hopefully like the ones in the Z2) the Sony MDR-10RBT Bluetooth Headphones for free (limited amount of course).
yes, you will get (the same) noise canceling in-ears like the Z2 to has.
Not in Taiwan. Standard ear buds and no dock.

From what I have been told by a Sony rep the Z3 will not come with noise cancelling headphones in the box like the Z2 did.
shipped with MH750
DNC headphones truly great companion with Z2 & Z3 :good:
The Singapore set I bought didn't ship with the noise cancelling earphones in the box either.
Can anyone who has the noise cancelling headphones (MDR-NC31EM) tell me if they have an in-line remote at all please?
Just picked up a Z3 from Three in the UK. No NC earphones.

Can't see one, maybe they're built into the earpiece's?
UK Amazon stock had normal headphones. So I'll keep the NC ones I got with the Z2 if and when I sell my Z2.
the ones that handtec sells has mh750 listed
My Z3 came with the MH750 ones as well. Just read a review of the MDR-NC31EM on Android Headlines which talks about their ability to work with the Z3.
Mine are arriving tomorrow, just in time for a flight on Friday!
