[Q] Upgrading my XT910 - Motorola Droid RAZR

Well, I have watched the noob video at registration but still I hope you will help me... :cyclops:
So I have Israeli XT910 on its final version which is 2.3.6. (is it GB?)
Anyway it sucks and i wish to upgrade it to ICS or JB or even put a customized ROM on it...
Is it possible? Will I need to root my device? Will my apps and data be lost? And how can I do it?
Thanks in advance.

You have a lot of tutorials about upgrading to official (moto stuff) roms or about installing custom roms, when i bought my razr it came with gingerbread, one of the first things i do was upgrading to ICS and then i start using custom roms with safestrap, but that dependens on what you want/need from the phone. Also you have to check if your phone is CDMA or GSM, before installing a rom or at least ask if that have a patch.
here you have a post with a los of links and a tons of info. Hope that helps

Just go for the European version ROM.
I used them in my wife's RAZR. We are also from Israel.
Follow the steps for the new European retail roms and every will be great.

I will try that but now I have another problem... I accidentally flashed ICS without having enough space on my phone and now it is stuck on boot logo and then turns off, and I need to know if there is a way of formatting it without turning it on?
Sorry for bad English too...

The European retail jellybean formats your whole phone, so you can flash it and have your phone back on normal.

1. I recommend using a custom ROM, only because its faster and you get better performance.
2. Yes. If you are will to do it, I have an easy way how.
3. Most if not all ROMS are better than than stock.
4. Only if you downgrade software from 2.3 to 2.2 you will brick your phone. Correct me if I am wrong though on this one other xda members. I am willing to help, just let me know.

Thank you very much Voelker, and which rom would u recommend me? the fastest and stable rom?. Also how about the update, should i first unlock the bootloader then update to the oficial version of ginger? or should i unlock the bootloader then update to a custom rom without touching the oficial version ever?
cm7 is the best unless you want webtop or fingerprint scanner
if you want webtop or fingerprint scanner id say go for alien
Here is the easiest way to unlock bootloader and root your phone.

judging by your signature i assume u have CM7, i read a post in the official CM7 rom thread that there was something wrong with the dialer? like the graphics were kind of weird or zoomed, can u confirm this?
Also, do u have the latest build? can u tell me if there's a 1080p option there?
Also have any of you tried this kernel? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1257574&page=299
No one? well can anyone tell me which one is the best kernel for the Atrix?
I use Faux123's 1ghz cm7 kernal

amazon..co.uk buy
Hello everyone i'm new to this forum and i would like to know what i should do with my atrix.
I bought it off of amazon.co.uk (i live in england) and i would like to know how to root it. (i run Gingerbread, by the way)I know you must be thinking oh what an idiot follow the tutorials, but i keep seeing AT&T everywhere so im wondering what's up with that, and why are some of the roms only compatible with AT&T. Oh, and i searched allready too.
Have you tried this? ... http://www.psouza4.com/Bionic/
At the top, it says "This method works on Motorola phones running Android OS 2.3.4 or earlier." There is no mention of AT&T.
Hope this helps
thanks! yeah i looked at that, but i still dont get the whole AT&T thing for ROM. As im in england i cant get AT&T but thanks anyway for that root method!
The AT&T thing is because there is an Atrix International and an Atrix 4G from AT&T. Its mostly same specs, barely 3g bands.

Hi I was thinking of buyinga atrix I just have a few questions if u can help me.
1.how well is the fingerprint recognition?
2.is there a official ginber bread or a custom working one with all features of the phone working.
3.is the internel memory different from provider to provider (I know the bloatware by providers use up a bit of the memory).
4.also is any features missing by any providers (I can remember tmobile sometimes would remove front facing cameras on certain devices).
5.I heard there is screen issues how true is this? Also are there any other issues.
Sorry for so many questions .
Thanks using htc sensation at the moment.

[Q] Root New Bell (Canada) Samsung Galaxy S II HD LTE (SGH-I757M)

Hello,
I'm trying to find if there is as of yet any way to root this device. I did find one thread but involved flashing a Russian (I think) rom. Before I had the HTC Legend, so I'm not used to Samsung phones. I've been searching since I got it yesterday. I'm wondering if anyone found a safe / confirmed way to do this yet. If I need to wait, I need to wait. I just wanted to pose the questions. I did fine a few roms and info on the Korean version of the phone, but was also unsure if it was safe to flash on this device.
Thank you in advance for taking the time to read this.
Ryan
In the same boat as you!! I don't want to flash any other roms as it can lead to other issues. As of now I hate not having root, but if it means I have to wait for a flashable. Zip, or a super one click. I can wait

I have just rooted my device using the Russian rom, it went smoothly and I'm now rooted, If you go ahead with it its very simple, took about 5 mins

Russia root works
I used the same rooted and it worked smoothly for me i would recommend that you use it
I'm so willing to bet that there is one of the already exisiting Samsung phones that has the exact same physical characteristics and all the ROMs are compatible. I'm so sure. I'm hoping. I'm praying. You know, CM9 and all that. =(

once rooted. anybody tried putting cyanogenmod for Galaxy S II on the I757M?
Do want ICS!!
No offense for anyone but these generic ROMs tend to run with the least amount of efficiency with Bell's Radio and Kernel. I tried at least 10 of the CM9's out there. The battery life was useless. It was more of a gimmick than anything else.
Which section of the forum is being used for this phone?
Where is this Russian Rom that everyone is talking about? Please provide links to location on the forum!
I am currently loathing Gingerbread but honestly. I will wait for the official Ice Cream Sandwich roll out.
It's being covered:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1649065
What were the different results of CM9? Were you building from source, or did you just download a random one and flash them in? I'm trying to port Stock ICS, and going for a much needed beer after I type this just to come sit back down and keep trying - I'm determined to have an alpha up in the next 24 hours of a CWM-flashable ICS.
I'm tearing apart every kernel I can find to make this *@#[email protected](ing phone boot from ICS.

[Q] Really confused about getting LATAM ICS...

I came from the Galaxy S forums where all these ROMs and updates were given to you on a silver platter instructions and all
I'm using a GSM Canadian Droid RAZR purchased from Fido, running on the Virgin Mobile network. (Yeah, its complicated.)
System Version:
651.167.3331.XT910.Fido.en.CA
Android Version
2.3.6
I've been waiting all this time for the Verizon update, but only realized a week ago that Verizon is CDMA, and theres no chance I'll get it on my Fido branded RAZR.
What do I need to do? I downloaded the LATAM 2.3.6 GB as well as the 4.04 ICS. I have RSD Lite but no idea how to use it. My device is complete vanilla. Do I have to root/install CWM in order to install 2.3.6?
And should I do data/cache wipe. If so, how?
Thanks in advance. I really don't know whats going on.
Oops. I thought this would automatically be moved to Q&A after I checked that box. Could a mod move it there please?
Thanks

Hey, I'm actually in the same boat as this guy. I have a Rogers GSM Razr and I'm wondering if I want to install an ICS kernel based ROM, I have to use RSD lite to flash up to an ICS stock rom, and then flash the rom I want, right?
Thanks for the link Pedro.
Does my phone need any modifications (root/CWM) in order for me to flash with RSD?

Not really. Take your phone as a latam device. Any rom for a latam razr will work fine.
Just follow the procedure for ics on latam razr.
You have 4 Langs on ir. Eng. Pt. En. Fr.
And I posted a working 1 click root method today.
Btw, tell the guys about it

Hi, I am new to the Atrix :)

Hey all, before I had a Motorola Defy, now I am with an Atrix 4g
My basic question is, what should not do to brick my phone? should I update it? Like I said, I came from a Defy, Defy has a locked bootloader so it is almost impossible to brick it, now I am a little scared with the Atrix hehe. Thanks !

you shoudn't flash an sbf file that is not the same as your current version. to update or not to update, that is entirely up to you. if yoh're satisfied with a gb os (2.3.x), don't upgrade. if you want ics (4.0 4) or jb (4.1.x-4.2.2), then update. just unlock the bootloader, root your phone, and enjoy

you could if you wanted, but most of the updated versions are available through the rom superthread thread in the development section. just be sure to pay attention to carrier specific roms if you chose to use one of them. and i did just see your post in another thread saying that you were on froyo. after seeing that, i would say yes, upgrade your phone to a better os. gb works great, ics and jb work well and will work better now that we have the new kernel, but expect bugs to be present, but they are still very usable roms

Can you imagine the chaos if every new member decided to skip all the reading and just opened a new thread?

New user... Couple of questions.. Thanks!

Hey guys,
I just got this device and I'm loving it so far... I'm a T-Mobile customer, so I'm looking to flash a tmobile radio and Rom. The thing is I bought this from someone who used a toolkit to root it and unlock the bootloader. It's also running insert coin Rom and twrp.. I know nothing else is done besides that. This is my first non Samsung device, and Im used to the simplicity of Odin , I really dont want to screw anything up... Anyone have some advice? Thanks in advance...

I am probably not certified to answer this question. But my suggestion is-
You are searching here ( your best bet) so maybe search youtube for how to video's on "un"rooting and going back to stock. They normally have links to downloads that you need.
what is wrong with just leaving it unlocked and rooted, just flashing a different rom?

This will get you back to near stock T-mo >> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2281943
your best off to stay away from a radio update unless your having a problem.
Leave the recovery as is for now till you learn more about your phone
make a backup from TWRP and store it in a safe place (other than on the phone) before you go flashing roms (just a good practice anytime)
all the popular roms in the international section will work on your phone, Android Revolution HD, TrickDroid, insertcoin ...etc, just take your time and read a lot
Thanks for the suggestions guys... So even though I'm s-on, I can still flash a different Rom?
