Who is my master and make the root for us. I checking xda forum every half an hour see who is my angle to set up recovery for us to root. Please please please. Don't. Make us wait toooooooooo long.

Please excuse my ignorance, as I'm fairly new to the world of Android (though not new to the world of hacking and development), but how likely is it that the Xperia Z Ultra will be rootable?
Assuming the device I buy has an unlocked bootloader (I understand this is standard for unlocked OEM devices, but may not be the case for carrier-subsidised devices), is it a sure thing that it will be rooted (eventually, within a reasonable time-frame) or does it require the discovery of some sort of exploit to circumvent security. I realise that Sony typically supports the developer community, but it seems like this device has been excluded from their list of "hackable" devices.
Essentially, I want something that can run a chrooted Linux distribution (Gentoo), that is pocketable. Given that physical construction is of high importance to me, I've narrowed down my choices to the Xperia Z Ultra or the Xperia Tablet Z (though the latter is definitely not pocketable). I would really like the choice of software to be up to me and not to be confined in the same way as one would be when purchasing an iPad...

DoomLord is evidently working on root for the Ultra and he tried to root mine a while ago but without success at that time. The bootloader can be unlocked and it is certain that root will come out. It is important to remember that very few people have the device yet, many are waiting for the LTE versions to arrive too.
I am sure that the developer support will gain a lot of traction when the C6806/C6833 begin their deliveries.
I am also sure that Sony will update their list of hackable devices later. It is important to remember that the main release of the Ultra will be the C6806/6833 and that will represent the start of the big marketing push.

Many thanks for your response. So, it seems that it's a safe bet that if I buy one with an unlocked bootloader, it will get rooted. Obviously, I'm not going to hold you to that, but I think this helps me make up my mind.

Buy an unlocked, unbranded Ultra that can be bootloader unlocked. I have my bootloader unlocked (was part of the rooting attempt) and there's no doubt that root will arrive.
If Sony would have a strict stance against rooting, they wouldn't add the Ultra to the bootloader unlock service either.

Yeah, they even released their open source archive for the ZU a couple of days ago, so Sony is really helpful within the dev community. The ZU will gain root. It's only a matter of time.

[Q] Prolink TA8 / Proline Mirage Tablet - Upgade from Honeycomb to Ice Cream Sandwich

Firstly, I am new to posting on XDA so my humble apologies if this thread is in the wrong place!
My company have three Proline Mirage tablets. They are rebranded Prolink TA8 tablets. I have successfully rooted one of them and plan to root the other two soon.
All three are running Android 3.2 Honeycomb. I would like to know if anyone knows of a ROM to upgrade to Ice Cream Sandwich or Jelly Bean?
Below is an image of current software version etc.
Any help would be appreciated!

Hi I have had a Duke in Asia for about 6 months fully rooted running 3.2, so it is possible. I have attached all files and instructions in a word document to allow this to happen, but it is as always at your own risk.
Thanks to Krtonsrx8 who supplied the boot image from "Tablet PC Duke" from Europe I have updated the install files to make the installation simpler for the Europeans. I have also modded the boot file from Europe so now there are separate processes for the Asian "Prolink TA8 Tablet" (mine) and the Europe tablet mentioned in this discussion.

Hi there,
I have completed all actions stated in the "Duke Tablet.docx" file, however, when using Root Checker Basic, it says "This device does not have proper root access"?
I'm unsure of where to go from there? My tablet looks and functions exactly the same and I haven't restored any of the backups?
Thank you.

L9 P768, Any custom ROMĀ“s that work flawlessly on this particular device!?

Hello everyone, the idea of this thread is to share here the succes stories about this particular device and to help all of its owners/users to learn if there are in fact any custom ROM that will work on such devices or let us know also if there is no such thing.
I have seen in this and other forums the model number p768 is included on the subject when official and non official ROMs are being discussed but after reading a lot turns out it is not clear if this ROMs are aplicable to this particular device p768 which counts with a 8 mp camera and cuz of that is different from the other L9 models and sadly for us, apparently the one model with less support on the L9 series.
So please shine a light on us L9 P768 owners/users and share your knowldge on this particular model, which brings me to the following petitions:
1.- If you are a owner/user of this particular device and you have succeded unlocking BL, please share with us your knowledge here.
2.- Also, please share here links to Custom Roms that will work on this device fully (without losing functionality of the camera or any other piece of hardware/sofware)
3.- If you are a owner/user of this particular device and you have succeded installing a custom ROM that works, please share your knowledge here.
I know I might be asking a lot and I thank you all for you kind attention in advanced.
I own the P768 model and I'd also like to know, as far as I know there are no custom roms for our device yet... because of the camera drivers, don't know if it can be ported from the stock roms, don't think it is that easy because someone would've already done it, but that is not the case, sorry for my bad english, it isn't my main language.
any one already tried this new release fw THA/THAILAND 20B LGP768F maybe this is unlockable?
P768 is not popular as P760 or P769. There's no custom rom for P768 yet and I see no point to unlock bootloader for now. I'm on unroot stock rom and still wait for good thing to happen for P768.

how sad hope soon lg will release fw for p768 that able to unlock bootloader
P768 L9
lack of custom rom is so sad...
please developer gods, shine your wisdom onto one amazing developer to take interest in this model
Well my boot loader is unlocked by doing the p760 kdz flash method, but the fastboot capability isn't there so it's pointless to have unlocked the boot loader. Lelus posted a flashable fastboot I think, but I cant test it, CWM isn't working on my phone right now.
Edit: Using lelus's tool, I managed to push CWM via fastboot. Then I flashed SuperSU via CWM and my phone is rooted! No more offline flashing to get root!
I'm going to make a guide on how to unlock the boot loader and use lelus's tool. The info is floating about but it needs to be consolidated so it's easier to understand.

Bootloader unlocked. Custom ROMs work except for the camera.
Tried building CM10.1 for the device, no success.

FYI, flash Europe Open to the device, unlock then flash back. Our P768 roms seem to disallow unlocking.

Try replacing /system/vendor with the same directory from stock P768 JB ROM. I think the modules required for your camera are there.
Kevev could you be more specific, about the camera files?... my bootloader is unlocked... you guys want me to write a guide on how did I unlock it at first try?...
Pull the directory from stock ROM. You will need to flash stock and pull it. Flash CM10.1 and put that directory on you phone. It will replace the files. I don't know if this will work. Just an idea.
So I can download the whole System folder from my Stock Jelly Bean ROM to my PC, what folders can I test? like replacing... besides "vendor"?

I have read that the kernel has the camera modules on some devices.
The kernel is boot.img. You could flash the stock ROM KDZ, then remove boot.img file from the CM10.1 ROM, re-zip it, re-sign the zip, and then flash it.
There are multiple tools for creating and signing CWM zip files on XDA. Use the search to find them.
It said installation aborted... I don't know why... I will test installing CM 10.1 and replacing vendor...

Did you sign the zip?
Yeah I did... but it had no boot.img... since I deleted it... I don't know how to get the stock boot.img...
Here are some logcats... don't know if that helps...
I am guessing that you need to edit the file updater-script in the zip. Remove the line that flashes the boot.img and re-sign zip. You should have seen a detailed error showing where the flash messed up.
I think we need some Devs to help out also.

[Q] Gateway G1-715 7" Android Tablet

I recently bought a Gateway 7" G1-715 Android tablet from The Source.
I know it's not gonna be a power-house, but I figured I'd get it cause it was cheap, I'll now have 7" tablet to test any Android development on and it would be fun to play with.
I'm wondering if anyone else has one of these and how to root it.
Also, if there are any custom ROMs for this tablet, I'd appreciate any link(s).
I really couldn't find much about this device online, just that it's made by Acer and branded for Gateway.
Also, I wasn't able to find this device anywhere on XDA-Developers.

Cydia Impactor should be able to get you rooted. Here is a quick tutorial on how to use it. You may note that these directions are written for the Sero 7 LT but it will work on your device too (Impactor works on many devices actually!) Anyhow just follow these directions except the first part about making sure you accept the update first, that does not apply to your device, only the Sero 7.

If you need help installing drivers for your device Snap pea will probably work for it too.

Bought one today, and rooted using what Klown80 said within an hour of boot up! Thanks! also works on my friends huawei ascend y300. we both have the same phone, I did it another way but this apparently works too.
broke down and rooted mine to g1-715. only rooted to use titanium backup. used the method listed. work fast and easy. then downloaded a superuser from app store. i can say that factory reset/wipe do not remove root. but everything is stock.
Does anybody know what custom OS ROMs work for this device? I have mine rooted, but I'm having trouble finding an OS that will work.
Does it have a real GPS sensor?
I'm thinking about buying this model just to tinker around with it, and I need to know if it has a real gps sensor, 'cause i want to use it also as a travel gps.

I'm thinking about buying this model just to tinker around with it, and I need to know if it has a real gps sensor, 'cause i want to use it also as a travel gps.
Thanks.

Yes, it has a GPS sensor that seems to work ok.
But I haven't found any custom roms for it.
It surely works
Thanks Matt!
It's been a few months since I bought it and i really like it: not fancy, but useful as a car gps (my dad wanted one for himself also, and then my mom, and then my brother...).
It works nicely, but now I can't take it out of DEMO mode without wiping everything to factory state (and not losing many things, since I've got everything backed up... I'm just lazy).

New z Ultra, questions about rooting

Hi all, I drunkly ran into the sea with my Nexus 5 in my pocket so that is long gone.
Next week I'm thinking about investing in an xperia z ultra, however I have seen and heard of many of the methods used to root it will capture your IMEI number and use it for malicious reasons.
I was looking at following this guide (presuming my phone software/firmware will even be compatible) and just want to clarify it works fine with no danger.

This is the link to the phone I'm looking at buying

If I cannot root the phone, I will not be buying it as adblock is a must for me, and if xposed works then I'll be delighted also.
Can someone please help clear up my confusion?
Thanks!

That would work, or there is a dual recovery installer(CWM and TWRP)that you could use if you want recovery. Whichever you use let the phone update to .108 firmware then run it, if you unlock your bootloader be sure to back up your TA partition beforehand.

As the ever helpful @adfurgerson said. EasyRoot is the best tool or [NUT]'s recovery installer. They both use the same exploit.
Any other questions just ask, after searching
Thanks guys :fingers-crossed:
For me the easiest one I use is the Dual Recovery installation files. It has an option to root and install dual recovery all in one.
I used Flashtool for rooting, few clicks and done.
Then i flashed dualrecovery and GPe ROM :good:
