[Q] gps and tizen ref devices - Tizen Software Development

hi,
Do you know how to get gps support for those tizen devices ?
it seems some binaries blob are missing from the images ..
Any tracks are more than welcome...

Sorry, as only few Tizen Developer have such devices... we have nearly 0 infos...
Maybe helpfull for finding answers, is to check Label under battery...
For instance rumours say that I8800 and/or I8805 is Tizen device...
Search in FCC leads to 0 hits...
Other "rumours" here, GT-I9300 as Tizen testdevice...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2252013
So what is RD-PQ and what is RD-210 ?
Is this also on Label under Battery readable?
Maybe FCC-ID...
If really special testdevices... then maybe GPS disabled by Hardware... missing parts.
No idea yet.
Best Regards

Maybe here an user with I9300 who could check GPS...

It seems you have RD-210 ...
Please, what is on your Label under Battery...
FCC ID?
model name ?
Look here, example for answer:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=40749090&postcount=5
Label says only:
MODEL: GT-I9300
FCC ID: A3LGTI9300A
SSN :I9300GSMH
RATED: 3.8V ; 2100mA
Made in Korea by Samsung

So what you can see on your label?
Thanx in advance.

RD-PQ seems variant of GT-I9300A
Check label inside...
FCC ID can be found.
Not clear to me is, if PCB of Retail device or maybe "special variant"...
Maybe cheaper, if Hardware parts missing...
Here few Pics from FCC...
Quality is very poor...
Maybe someone found better Quality Pics of I9300A...
Thanx in advance.

Hi again,
As mentionned at
https://bugs.tizen.org/jira/browse/TPLC-2
It's fcc=A3LTRATS m=TRATS
If it has a FCC id does this mean it ships a 3g modem (which could integrate that gps unit?)
Anyway other devices are about to appear this fall ...

:good:
This I can find on FCC... about TRATS...
Will investigate more...
...does this mean it ships a 3g modem...

Really good question...
For me it is at the moment deadend...
I9300A is tooo expensive for me to test with JTAG to make it Tizen RD-PQ ""compatible""...
And first idea RD-210 is I9200 or something in this kind...
I9200 I can not find on German Ebay...
And info TRATS is very new to me... need more time.
So no idea if Software enable MODEM + GPS...
Or HARDWARE parts on PCB is missing...
Best Regards

Thx I can read :
Device Capabilities
This device contains the following capabilities:
802.11b/g/n WLAN, Bluetooth (1x,EDR)
no no gps unit ? does fcc docs used to list those items too ?

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=46632861&postcount=4
For RD-PQ I think the reason is Qualcomm...
No idea if Chips are on PCB... but I think also all MODEM/AMSS related stuff is not included in public Tizen Software...
So theory, if all Qualcomm Chips on RD-PQ PCB... so you have to write your own Tizen MODEM/GPS Driver...
I am 80 % sure it is not in Tizen 2.2 Firmware available...
Best Regards

i've found this :

Any Modded Camera APK's

Sorry to dig up an old thread, but didn't want to start a new one.
I believe the problem is Sense 3.0 related and the gain HTC applied to the mics. I've come from a Sensation - and we had the exact same clipping problem on the phone with stereo recording and mono sounded a little better, but not much. When the Sense 3.5 leak came out, end of September for the Sensation the clipping problem went away in stereo recording. I went to a Sense 3.5 Rom for that reason alone because stereo recording sounded terrific. Once you bump up the media_profiles.xml to accept a higher bitrate it was a terrific stereo camcorder. No clipping at all.
I just got the Amaze and have given the Sensation to my wife with a Sense 3.5 Rom.
I love everything so far about the Amaze, the stereo clipping is the only issue I'd like to see fixed, at least for me.
BTW - I've listened to some YouTube vids of the Rezound camcorder and they sound fine in stereo. And the Rezound is Sense 3.5.
I've looked around for an adjustment in the smalis of the htccamera.apk but can't find anything that relates to the mic gain.
Anyone have any idea where the fix would be for this?

also one that will increase the bit rate for 1080p recording to maybe a higher level such at 15 mbs ?
I'm wondering about this too, I feel like the photos and video taken with the current camera app really compresses the content to the point where some of the quality is really compromised (especially in 1080p video). I could be wrong, but since disk space is not a problem for everyone, it'd be nice to have the option to turn compression off

yes 1080p video is compressed if you look at the bitrate, it's very low on what a true 1080p should be.
When I had my sensation I had made changes to the media_profiles.xml file to get a higher bitrate and also to get rid of image compression. Since its still Sense the same can probably be done for the Amaze.
Btw- I know I'm beating a dead horse but anyone have an idea where mic gain is controlled so we can lower the clipping in video recording? This is truly the only thing that bothers me about the Amaze. I'm surprised more people aren't bothered by it. HTC touts stereo recording but pretty much makes it unusable.

how do you edit the xml file i cant if my life depended on it, also anyone know the speed of the internal sd card?

thanks for the input also do you know how htc has the amze's internal memory? is it really a internal sd card? or flash nand?
I hate to keep referring to my Sensation, I pulled up my media_profiles.xml from that phone and changed the values down towards the bottom to this:
<VideoEncoderCap name="h264" enabled="true"
minBitRate="7000000" maxBitRate="10000000"
minFrameWidth="176" maxFrameWidth="1920"
minFrameHeight="144" maxFrameHeight="1080"
minFrameRate="15" maxFrameRate="15" />
<VideoEncoderCap name="h264" enabled="true"
minBitRate="64000" maxBitRate="2000000"
minFrameWidth="176" maxFrameWidth="800"
minFrameHeight="144" maxFrameHeight="480"
minFrameRate="1" maxFrameRate="30" />
<VideoEncoderCap name="h264" enabled="true"
minBitRate="7000000" maxBitRate="10000000"
minFrameWidth="176" maxFrameWidth="1280"
minFrameHeight="144" maxFrameHeight="720"
minFrameRate="1" maxFrameRate="30" />
<AudioEncoderCap name="amrnb" enabled="true"
minBitRate="5525" maxBitRate="12200"
minSampleRate="8000" maxSampleRate="8000"
minChannels="1" maxChannels="1" />
This gave me 10meg bitrate for 720p recording. (You could bump up the maxBitRate to maxBitRate="20000000", and you should get a 20meg bitrate.)
Also for higher pic quality there are 2 areas in the file that relate to image quality. I changed mine to this below. (This is also listed 2 times in the xml file)
<ImageEncoding quality="99" />
<ImageEncoding quality="90" />
<ImageEncoding quality="80" />
<ImageDecoding memCap="25000000" />
I haven't done this on the Amaze yet, so try it at your risk. Xboarder mentioned that something in the camera breaks but I'm not sure what. Also make sure you make a copy of your original media_profiles.xml file so you can always revert back. The file is in /system/etc/media_profiles.xml
Also make sure you assign back the permissions to it after editing it!

[Q] Lenovo P780s

Hi Folks,
I have recently come accros this phone model on aliexpress.
Unlike Lenovo p780 on this forum, it has 4.7" screen and quad or octa core MTK CPU, either MTK6589 or MTK6592.
Is this the official Lenovo phone or some "dodgy" copy, as in Antutu, it shows manufacturer as "ALPS"? Can somebody shed some more light please?
Regards and Thanks,
Darko

Seems to me after a long study that this p780 is for internal market of China.
I don saw anything on international sites.
And by the way this phone got an accumulator of 2200mA or 2500mA.
There are screenshots on Aliexpress offers, that confirms the specification (chip, 2GB RAM, gpu, etc). If the phone is actually a dodgy copy it means that these screenshots are fake as well?

I just had a search on youtube and a those few reviews have disappeared. If I find them again I shall post them for sure.
Thanks for revealing this "mistery". Can you explain me how they can hide the "real CPU" from different benchmark applications?
An easy way to discover they used a fake antutu.

From what I have discovered , when installing a benchmarking application they have modified Package Access Helper com.android.defcontainer to replace the apk with modified one from /system/etc/.tempxxx with fake cpu information.
From Logcat
12:33:59.733 Warning asset 2578 AssetManager-->addDefaultAssets CIP path not exsit!
12:33:59.733 Warning asset 2578 Asset path /system/etc/.tempcpuz is neither a directory nor file (type=1).
12:33:59.733 Warning DefContainer 2578 Failed to parse package
12:33:59.733 Warning ActivityManager 549 No content provider found for permission revoke: file:///system/etc/.tempcpuz
With root I have disabled these files , and was able to install the real apk by copying it to /data/app
Without root you have to decompile and recompile apk with another package name ( eg. from com.cpuid.cpu_z to com.cpuid.cpu_z2)
I attach renamed cpuz if anyone wants it.
When the internal package name is changed , It can be installed as it doesnt identify it as one that it wants to replace.
If any developers want these files for investigation , I will upload them.
I hope this info helps others not to get ripped off from those suppliers selling these phones.
I believe that we need to find some place to put this as a warning for people looking to buy phones like this.
I was almost cought out by this con, and thankfully for people here on the forum, they saved me a few 100 dollars.

I totally agree with you , and that is one of the reasons I posted details about it.
People who have been scammed should at least leave negative reviews for there orders,and dispute with those where they purchased the phone.
Be advised that the model named "P780w" is also a scam, and if you can change the title of this thread,
Hi.
I bought one P780c from Aliexpress and it is obviously a fake copy. Antutu say MTK6592 an 8 cores, but
MTK tools say MTK6582 and 4 cores, and hardware is fake. Also it was annonced with android 4.4, but has 4.2.
I had in mind it could be a fake, but I made a try.
It cost was only around $100, so not big loss..
The phone works ok, but I have not got the GPS working, also the screen seems to have some problems when input text, not always get the correct letter.
I am looking for a new phone with 4G LTE band and on Aliexpress there are Lenovo A808 with 5.5" screen and N905 with 5" screen for sale. How can we be sure they are originals and not fakes ? From the price ? They cost around $100-120 with free shipping.
I would like to try one, but if it is fakes also, I have several phones with MTK6582 quad cores.

What kind of Lenovo it is ? What is written on the box ?
custom ROM V603
it's a fake from China. Phone no central button as Samsung and Lenovo has none. On the box are the only Chinese signs and information for your stated V603 ... it should be MTK 6572

I plan to buy a prototype of oppo find x,with mysterious specs!! is it a good deal?!

So, I want to buy a piece of find x from a local seller, he sent me the pictures below, and the least I can say is that the datasheet is a surprise! What do you think ?
I add that it is a particular seller, and he claims to have obtained the sample in France via a parent to him, it can help understand?
* another detail, which is not on the photos, with the CPU info application downloaded on the play store, in the hardware part I get an SDM630! and in the storage pane I have 4GB of memory used and 8GB of total memory, contrary to what the shortcuts "about the phone" indicates and contrary to what I receive with the application CPU Z info, whose results are On the photos
finally, on one of the photos there is a crack on the back of the phone, what will be the best price at which I can buy it?
thank you.

D/L the app AIDA 64 to get an even better idea of what the phone actually has inside.
It may lack some components that would make the phone less desirable to own.
Myself, I wouldn't spend any money on it at all. However, if you like to collect items/one-offs such as this,start out with an offer of 1/4 of retail & go from there....

I couldn't guess a price until after I was assured the phone has the same functionality as the one available to the general public.
If it's a store demo, more than likely the functionality is crippled.
Even with full functionality, I wouldn't offer any more than 25% of whatever retailers are selling it for in your area.....

So, I want to buy a piece of find x from a local seller, he sent me the pictures below, and the least I can say is that the datasheet is a surprise! What do you think ?
I add that it is a particular seller, and he claims to have obtained the sample in France via a parent to him, it can help understand?
* another detail, which is not on the photos, with the CPU info application downloaded on the play store, in the hardware part I get an SDM630! and in the storage pane I have 4GB of memory used and 8GB of total memory, contrary to what the shortcuts "about the phone" indicates and contrary to what I receive with the application CPU Z info, whose results are On the photos
finally, on one of the photos there is a crack on the back of the phone, what will be the best price at which I can buy it?
thank you.

I'll add this & I'm done:
At minimum, you're dealing with someone who sells counterfeit/knockoff phones.
But, if you're convinced this is a prototype , it's likely been stolen,no way in Hell Oppo would approve..... discussion of buying such a phone in the forums is certainly frowned upon by the Admin/Staff here @ XDA......
Sent from my OPPO PAFM00 using XDA Labs
Accept the phone only if the seller will give it to you for nothing along with further compensating you in the form of hard cash; for wasting your time. Seriously, purchase only if you feel you must prove a sucker is born every minute.
What's wrong with this guy
Use logical reasoning and common sense my friend
hello guys, do not get upset, it's not my fault if I was lucky to find a piece of the flagship for almost nothing, the seller gave me the monster yesterday against a payment equivalent to $ 45, so I had the time to explore it and the results will surprise you even more than the price that it cost me I leave you with the pictures !

Need help identifying the *real* model number of my Kogan RF9220 Android TV

Hi all! Just wondering whether anyone knows the real model number of this TV: https://kogan-prod-assets.s3.amazonaws.com/files/usermanuals/KALED40RF9220STA_UM_04-20.pdf
Within all of the relevant settings menus and the Google Play store, it is identified as a "Changhong AI PONT", but I couldn't find much about this line of TVs on Google. I have a 40" model whereas all I could find were 52" and bigger TVs in the same product line.
This is obviously a cheap, rebranded piece of junk sold by Kogan.com.au for much more than I think it is worth (the user experience so far would suggest it should cost about $AUD5, not the $AUD300 that I paid for it, and certainly not the $AUD430 that they're now asking for it!). As such, I would like to find a better firmware/ROM to install on it, if possible. I'd also like to explore my options for rooting this piece of crap, if that is even feasible.
MTIA for any and all advice given!
