How to Go Stock for Hboot 1.40---1.17.707.2--GUIDE - HTC One X+

This is the fastest and easiest method to go back to Stock for people with Hboot 1.40 who were on 1.17.707.2 (Asia). Everything works including OTA updates. Tested by me.
1- Flash the ROM linked to this post(it's based on 1.17.707.2) or if you have backup of your Stock ROM, restore it--like the one here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2402564
2- If your ROM was rooted use root explorer and go to system/xbin/ and delete su.
3- Go to system/app and delete super user application
4- In Bootloader flash stock recovery (fastboot flash recovery recovery_signed.img), flash boot.img__Both are included in the post.:good:
5- Relock your bootloader (fastboot oem lock)

Links fixed. Any suggestions welcome.

WWE should come out by the end of this month. I've sold my One X+, so for any support on this thread you may contact sgs.soheil. I believe he would be more than happy to help.

((( Wait... thx

Okk,
Have a question, everything is working fine - but the ROM uploaded in Dropbox already have supersu inbuilt into it without the su binaries.
I am unable to uninstall it - because for that I need to be root, Once I am on stock kernel I am unable to install the su binaries as it requires root...
Any ideas how to remove su from the ROM before flashing?
BTW OTA working fine
Thanks a ton

Even after flashing the boot.img and the stock recovery, I still had supersu. I uninstalled supersu from ES File Explorer, then deleted the root files as mentioned in the tutorial. Then, I relocked the bootloader.

Okk... I have already relocked the bootloader - could be because of that it is not allowing me to remove?

Possibly. Unlock the bootloader, flash supersu. Then, uninstall supersu and delete root files. Re-flash boot.img and stock recovery and relock bootloader. This should do it.

my h boot version is 1.35
can i install this stock rom?
and my htc one x+ have some issue that causing it cannot access the sd card how can i insstall it

For hboot 1.35 you already have an RUU. No need to use this.

Unbranded HTC Amaze stuck on Home Screen!!!!

Hey Guys,
I just bought a brand new HTC Amaze unbranded (without any carrier branding). Now I tried updating the phone to ICS but unfortunately no official ICS update is available. I have a version where I get to choose south asian languages at start up, I don't know if this would help.
Anyways, I tired rooting my phone through the following method:
1- Unlocked the bootloader via HTCDev method.
2- Flashed the 4eXT recovery via Hasoon2000 tool kit, after which I had the SuperSU app on my phone.
3- Flashed Cyanogenmod 10 Nightly ROM (Latest available on their website).
The installation was successful, however when the phone boots up to the Home screen it works fine for precisely 10secs and then it freezes and reboots and this happens until I remove the battery. However if the phone boots up to the Home page and I do not unlock the phone it would not go off, but will freeze and reboot once I unlock!!. My phone is still S-ON. Please let me know if there is anything I can do to fix it.
Thanks

OK there is one more thing that I tried while I was waiting for a solution, I downloaded a Stock ICS RUU and renamed it to PH85IMG.zip and then boot it to HBOOT where it picked up the file and started installing, after install it was stuck on the HTC logo. Now as per your suggestion I suggestion I should simply download a GB Stock and flash it the same way I did with the ICS RUU correct?....and would you have a recommendation which one should I flash?

Reverting back to my previous stock ROM and applied jelly bean update
I downloaded Nandroid Backup from the thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2210619.
Here I installed TWRP in my mobile in order to get my stock ROM back (boot loader again unlocked here).
in sd card TWRP folder I copied these files. in sd card root folder I copied MissingGoogleApps.zip and STOCK_recovery.img_Installer.zip.
in TWRP recovery mode I restored Nandriod backup files and flashed MissingGoogleApps.zip successfully. But when I tried to flash STOCK_recovery.img_Installer.zip its failed. i extract recovery.img file from this zip. Then in fastboot mode I flashed this recovery.img file.
Then again I relocked the phone and rebooted. Now phone is started with my stock ROM.
Getting official JB update
here I followed below procedure.
1. Unlock Bootloader.
2. Flash Stock Recovery : Tutorial - http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...26&postcount=2
Use the stock recovery.img attached here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...20&postcount=1
3. Recheck for Software Update and Download the update.
again i relocked the phone and applied the update.
Now everything ok.

Nobody ever say that STOCK_recovery.img_Installer.zip is to be flash in recovery.. that is an installer for user who is not familiar with ADB command... it is to be extracted on PC then run the installer batch file after your DX is connected to PC in fastboot mode

What is your hboot version?
I hope you have Android SDK installed and running in your system?
I guess I have just run into the same issue. I wasn't able to find any help in the "Device Essentials" thread, unfortunately.
I have no rom. ADB doesnt work when phone is in bootloader or recovery (twrp 2.6.3.0) and I can't mount the usb storage to get the rom onto my phone. I miss the days of my samsung captivate....It was so easy!! Thanks for reading.
I guess the key point here is that I can't sideload anything because adb isnt working in recovery. My hboot is 1.40.

Did you try one of the toolkits like Windroid or Hasoons Toolkit. I would use Hasoon2000's first to return device to stock condition, and then try Windroid if that does not work.

did you try and install supersu just for the hell of it?? You may want to install stock recovery, then re-lock bootloader, and then use RUU. This almost always get your device back to stock.:good:

Im also on HBOOT 1.4 I believe you need this RUU.
I am going to revert to stock to make sure you can use this. Please just make sure what cid # you have. It should be CWS_001 for ATT Branded.(like mine )
edit: RUU ran fine with HBOOT 1.40

You need to have this stock recovery installed. then relock bootloader, and then run this RUU
this should fix it. if that RUU does not work, try the link to the RUU I gave for parkerdjohnson
Thanks
thanks so much for the links my brother, I am downloading the RUU links but the stock recovery link doesnt work. do you have another one? or I have the all in one tool kit, do I have the chance to go back to stock recovery by using this toolkit?

i attached a .zip file with the recovery inside. THIS IS NOT FLASHABLE! You need to flash from fastboot or with an All in one.
edit:
I uploaded the wrong file :banghead: I will try to find the right one. Sorry
Edit 2:
found the file and uploaded.

Sense 5 updated hboot 1.72, been using CM and CANT go back to stock

Hi, I've been running into a problem the last few days. Any help will be really appreciated.
My phone was unrooted and updated to sense 5 via OTA and it also updated my HBOOT from (if I'm not mistaken) 1.35 to 1.72. Now I've been trying a few roms like slim bean and CM but I want to go back to stock. The problem is that the RUU file that I've been using now doesn't work to go back stock as it shows an error while restoring. Can someone please guide me with this?
Many thanks!
For custom Rom you Need unlock - for ruu you Need to relock your bootloader - try this.
Sent from my HTC One X+ using xda premium

Because we have no possiblity to S-OFF our phones, you are not allowed to downgrade your HBOOT, so in order to go back to stock now, you would need latest RUU of the Sense5/Android4.2.2 update, which is not available (in fact there wasn't even a RUU for latest Sense 4+/Android 4.1.1 ...).
If you really want back to stock, you need to search the forum or internet for a stock TWRP or CWM backup matching your CID, then flash belonging boot.img in fastboot, restore this stock backup and as a last step reflash stock recovery in fastboot.
Easier (at least that's what i think) would be to install a stock like custom rom from One X+ Android Development forum. You won't get the OTA updates this way, but if there will be any more updates for our phones (which i doubt) the devs will most likely rebase their roms on these updates.

On a similar theme, I also have hboot 1.72 after OTA 4.2.2 / sense 5 update. (O2)
Currently unlocked, rooted and using ARHD8.
Over the last few weeks I've been reading on this forum about the possibility of returning to COMPLETELY stock in case of further updates which, like you, I doubt will happen.
Am I right in saying that if I.... relock bootloader, flash backed up original OS (backed up with TWRP), flash stock boot.img, I will be back to stock ?
Where, and how, does the 'stock recovery' come in to returning phone to stock ?
Thanks

Assuming you have everything you need, meaning stock backup (already placed on your phone) including boot.img/kernel & stock recovery from latest update, best order would be:
1. flash stock boot.img in fastboot
2. restore stock backup
3. flash stock recovery
3. relock bootloader
Now your phone should be completely back to stock except your bootloader saying "relocked" instead of "locked". You should be able to get future OTA updates from HTC (assuming we will get another update) again, the stock recovery is necessary to install these updates and if i remember right, the bootloader only has to be relocked in order to update HBOOT version. But what's the matter in keeping bootloader unlocked when having completely stock rom installed?
For me the only reason to go back to stock is installing latest OTA if there's a new HBOOT version included.

I've got 'stock backup and boot.img' saved on laptop and USB stick. Where will I find 'stock recovey, is it within the backup I created or do I need to find it on this forum ?
I'm happy with ARHD8 etc but, me being me, I'm always curious about what can and can't be done. ie, return to 'stock'.
Cheers

You can find it inside of this firmware package for O2 i extracted from latest OTA. But don't use the boot.img in there, if you do so, your mobile connections may not work after restore.

I've just been having a look at the various settings within TWRP and noticed that one of the options available when backing up is 'recovery'. By default there is no 'X' in the box which, I presume, means I didn't backup the 'stock recovery' when doing my initial back before flashing ARHD8 ?
If so, is it possible to get the stock recovery somewhere ?
Thanks

Lol even if you had checked this in TWRP when you took a backup of stock rom, guess which recovery you would've backuped

Sorry, just read your reply re. getting stock recovery. Was posting my thread at same time.
Am I right about not having backed up 'recovery' because there was no 'X' in box ?
Thanks

No problems here using WinRAR, just copy it out of the zip.

Just downloaded 7-zip and 'got it out'. Must have been my copy of winzip at fault.
Thanks again and sorry for 'being a pain'.

Installing new ROM

I want to install sense 6 .. and I will make backup before trying to.. but my question is if I restore my backup I can install official update again?? because I want the official sense 6 but can't wait also if I restore the backup all applications and home page shortcut will be there or I will loose them all ??
yes you can restore from backup. it will come on with everything you had on there at the time of backup.
to receive ota, wipe system, restore backup, and flash stock recovery. also lock bootloader via scotty123's method.
some people reporting ota working fine without locking bootloader. but stock recovery must be there for it to work

Aha.. is there any way to unlock bootloader without htc dev and I think yes but what is the difference between them. And just to be clear to install custom rom I have to unlock bootloader then root then installing CWM and then flash the rom .. Root and CWM does not affect my data so I can backup them..
And thank you so much
unlock without htc dev only possible with soff. so no on stock phone.
not gonna explain soff and unlock, read forums. explained there
to install rom, just unlock bootloader.install recovery of your choice thats it. the rom you install will probably be rooted anyway!
