Home-made cradle for Xperia tablet Z - Xperia Tablet Z Accessories

Hi,
I'm owner of an Xperia V phone and a tablet Z.
I bought the cradle for the XV: okay but expensive for what it is, including shipping from Asia...
Now, I'm looking for one cradle for the XZ tablet, but I don't want to pay $$$s for that, nor to order it from Japan.
So, I'm thinking about building one by myself, possibly using the one of XV.
The question is: the cradle has 2 big connectors directly in contact with the device. Do you think that I can "burn" my device if I swap them when connecting to the XZ?
Thanks.
[I posted the question here too: talk.sonymobile.com/message/512478#512478

waiting for replies

I'm also interested, it would be perfect if someone who has a crade could use a multimeter to check what voltages are on the pins on the cradle.

i guess no..it won't burn if you accidentally switched the two connectors...

+ve at the top according to http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2300444. Why risk switching the polarity?

Here's what I did today: I clicked on the "Escalation Mail Box" Contact link on the Asus support website (http://vip.asus.com/eservice/cus_suggest.aspx) and I asked them to release Transformer USB/Charger cables to the US Market. I explained how much I liked their devices; that I own both the TF and the docking station and how worried I am to only have one cable that could get lost.
Here is the reply email I received:
Dear Valued Customer:
Thank you for supporting and using ASUS products!
Your comment has been received by us and is currently in process. We will improve and as a treatment, you can reply through the link to check the situation. Thank You! [link to open ticket]
If everyone writes in, maybe we can demonstrate a strong enough user demand to get the most essential accessories out on the market.

Just did the same. One cable with no spare is not cool...
The guy who sells the FolioGuard stuff, xjarl I think, mentioned he got his hands on the 40pin connector and asked in the general thread what he should "do" with them...but the thread got buried super quick.
I thought a million people would ask him to make power cables but...

Do you think you could find that thread again and forward the key info to DevCake (the guy here who does the DIY hardware articles):

If anyone can hack together a substitute cable it would be him. So, if there's a guy somewhere who can get the connectors and there's a guy here who can determine which pins we need to wire to a standard USB cable (or charger or whatever we need), then we should put those two together.
Thanks,
glg
Just sent my request as well. I have the Radio Shack charger wall wart w/adapter but I'm very nervous about not having a dongle that fits the TF's port.
Guess I'm spoiled - a week after launch there were adapter galore for the Galaxy Tab on ebay.
I'm hoping the free market will save the day soon here...yikes!

I wouldn't call it spoiled, it seems like chargers and cables should be available readily for any device, what this is....is ridiculous.

I tracked down xjar and messaged him about 4 days ago but no response so far. That connector is the holy grail, find it and I'll be able to make a GRIP of cables and accessories.
I've just done so asking about availability here in the EU. They don't seem to be anywhere!
I got a response back:
Thank you for contacting ASUS and providing your feedback. You may purchase the AC adapter here:[http://us.estore.asus.com/index.php?l=product_detail&p=3613] Please let me know if you have any questions and thank you for your support.

Just sent one in, used my college email, maybe will get a different result, who knows
Im going to keep sending not too nice emails to them. Getting kinda annoyed.
New response today:
Thank you for your response and I do apologize for your inconvenience. The ETA for the power adapter will be on 7/12. Please let me know if you have any questions.

The 12th? Whats taking so damn long.
Letter sent. I hope they get their head's out of eachother's asses.
This situation is really irking me. I sometimes wonder if I shouldn't have gotten a different tab is only to rectify the accessory situation. These adapters should only be costing like 5 cents to make. I don't understand what is going on here.

Perhaps they are not yet ready with software support ; but then again they already have support for USB through the dock

Oh I'm specifically just thinking about their charger cables. I *hate hate hate* that I only have one. As far as I can tell the only places you can buy them they are like $40. Ridiculous IMO b/c that sort of thing should be pretty cheap. That is a pure profit item, if it were even in stock in the first place.

My bad, I thought it had the wrong connector but when I zoomed in I see it is at a bad angle. $40 buck is a little expensive, especially considering it is defective.
Out of stock already!

Sony Mini Pro SK17i Question

Hi All,
Recently purchased a Mini Pro SK17i from an ebay after reading the reviews both on here and other mobile sites.
My current phone is a rooted HTC Desire Z and I wanted to stay with hardware keyboards, this is my first Sony Ericson
Anyways I love the phone other than the screen doesnt seem to sit right on the bottom right hand side (Cannot attach pics due to post count!)
The phone was sold as new and is in mint condition other than this, my question is is this normal???
The seller has responded saying hes sold 3 others which were the same
Thanks for any advice or input given!

Either the guy you bought it from lied, because that is not mint condition. Or, it was damaged in transport, whether that was by courier or whatever. But that is definitely the housing of the device, and it is definitely broken.
I would say send it back saying you want a refund, especially if that is how you took it out of the box. That is not as new, or mint condit. Even though the rest of the phone is in perfect condit, that part isnt, in which case it should not have been labeled as "as new" or "mint condit".
As new, means that it has not been used much and is in the same condition as when it was BNIB(brand new in box).
Mint condit, means that it does not have any scrapes, scratches or damage to any part of the phone, and is in the same condition as when is was BNIB.
The difference between these to is usually mint condition has been used more but is still in like 9.9/10 condition.
So now it is up to you what you want to do.
Cheers,
Evil.
Thanks Guys, having not owned one of these before I wanted to make sure.
I be raising a dispute with the seller as Im not happy with this, despite that I love the phone!!!!!

omh dude, get a refund because it will trouble you because the menu soft key button is open
Edit : or buy a new case for your new phone if you are too lazy to get a refund
XDA Premium sent this message from owner of Sk17i
I have the same problem, if you push the screen it will stay for a few minutes inside its space, then he'll go outside...
I think the only thing we can do is send it to SE, or put some glue xD
To answer your question that's not normal, in my phone I don't have that problem.
Thanks all loving my new replacement sk17i more than my desire z!

'am I allowed to sell my Sony S tablet on here?

I'm getting fed up with with my Sony S tablet as I harldy use it, and will probably sell it.
It still has 15 months Sony warranty (was bought direct from Sony) un-modded, absolutely stock, not been messed with at all, and, in mint condition, boxed 32Gb SD card, leather case etc., etc., Located Huddersfield, UK.
I'm not sure if I'm allowed to advertise it on here or not.
Can someone answer this question please?

you know sony will buy it back from u as well or give u credit as they are so much lower and they are giving all the acessories as well trying to clean up stock before their new tablet release you might consider that. then you could get perhaps a device you would use i personally love mine even with the issues

Side port

Hi,
recently I purchased a Sony Xperia Z2. Despite only having it a few weeks the side flap which protects the sim card/charging port has fallen off and is now missing. I need my phone as I'm going on holidays, so rather than sending my phone away I'd like to purchase the part to fit on myself. Trouble is, despite checking everywhere I cannot find this part for sale. My question is, does anyone know where I can purchase it?
I saw lots of flaps on ebay and witrigs has them as well.

USB port replacement - N9005 hlte

Hello!
My phone has a damaged port and I would like to replace it. I saw some videos and it looks very easy to replace so I might try it myself. The only problem I have is that I don't know what to buy!
eBay sells the replacement module cheap but it comes from China and almost everything I bought from there (eBay) doesn't work 100% and I've asked refunds.
I know there are a lot of people who already had to replace their phone's port so I ask them to come to this thread and tell me where did they bought the port from (which exact seller, not site please) and their experience with it.
Many thanks! :fingers-crossed:
Hi, I ordered my usb port from Ali.. I think if you read the feedback of the item you can't buy any defective usb port.
I don't remember the seller's name but it costs 5€ and working the charging, Otg and audio out. Mhl I didn't tried yet.
Changing the port was easy for me, but I think it can be difficult for others. You must be careful.

I just did mine. Make sure you have the proper tool set and a grounding pad. I harvested my port from a broken one on Craigslist. Check your local area and see if you can find a smashed screen. I don't know how to add pictures to my posts yet but feel free to hit me up on Facebook messenger if you need to: Stephanie Supergirl Tweedy. Where are you located? I can just do it too. I was a certified repair technician (ha!) with Sprint. I use Tmo as my provider tho. =) Good luck!! :highfive:
I think it looks good.
