[ROM][STOCK][4.2.2][N5100] XXCMK1 | Deodexed + Rooted + busybox [11/30/13] - Galaxy Note 8.0 (Tablet) Android Development

Hello Everyone. I'm NickDollahZ. I am new to the development scene. Just got my N5100 yesterday. I saw that we have yet to get a 4.2.2 flashable rom. So I started messing around with Dsixda's Android Kitchen and here is the product of my labor.
Try not to be too rough on me as it is my first time.
This rom is the new German Stock 4.2.2 N5100XXCMK1 rom.
What it does:
Flashes the ROM, Modem and Kernel from the new 4.2.2 German rom.
What modifications did I make:
~ deodexed
~ rooted
~ busybox installed
~ zipaligned
~ /data/app functionality
~ /etc/init.d scripts support
Give it a try! Going to be using this as a base for a custom rom if all goes well. So feel free to send me your ideas.
Cheers :highfive:
Make sure you wipe first.

Thank you Nick for your work untill now, flash this rom and give you feedback if i find anything.

Nice job, downloading now, thank you ...

Thanks
Thanks for your work!
Can you give us some tutorial how to flash this to my Note 8.0.
I have stock Note 8.0 without any modification and don't know how to start to flash this ROM.
There are no such topic in this forum.
Can't you help us (newbie)?

This rom is designed for those who have already flashed a recovery on their Galaxy note 8.0 and want to update to the latest version.
With that said, I can still point you in the right direction.
You should use this tool http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2251033 to get started.
It should guide you through the process of getting the right drivers and flashing CWM on your device.
Once you have CWM then you can copy this rom onto your internal storage and flash it from there.
Alternatively you can use ODIN to install root, CWM or flash this rom using the official .tar.md5 released by Samsung.
CWM -> ClockworkMod a custom recovery
ODIN -> a tool used to flash your phone when in Download Mode (Holding down power+volume down+home key)
It sounds complicated but the process is actually pretty easy once you understand everything. The thread I linked earlier has a video that walks you through the process. Once that is done all you need to do is update to 4.2.2. if you like.

thaaanks

can not download it. too slowly for download.do have another link?

Unfortunately not. Still looking for good hosting. I'll see what I can come up with today.

Thank you so much. We users of the 5100 really needed this. I'll try downloading tomorrow and report my findings as well.

Thanks for the ROM. Good job. It works very well. Keep going.
BTW. First dl link is fast enough (2.3 MBs) for me.
Thanks again.
BRGDs

We need An debloat script Its just insane!

Thanks for feedback. I guess filefactory link is not as useful. I'm gonna see if I can get some reliable hosting because filehosting sites are hit and miss especially on an international device.
I plan to make a custom rom soon. I just wanted to get a good base without any apk modifications 1st.

Everything goes ok, but... S Note crashes as it starts. There is no way (with my attempts) to solve this.
Obviously flashed and wiped data-cache-everything!
Any other with this problem?

Okay looks like I fixed the issue. Also was just granted Developer status over at androidfilehost.com. So will be uploading my roms over there from now on.
Expect a new build and a new host in the next 24 hrs.
New Build up! SNote seems to be working for me again. Let me know your results. Don't forget to wipe!

So you gonna sort this rom out? Thats even better then a debloat script.

[ROM][GT-N7105]#--EmptyStock--#[Stock][Root][Deox][10 Nov]

Hello N7105 owners,
DISCLAIMER:
By reading this post, downloading any of the links, or acting on it in anyway you accept full responsibility for the outcome. I strongly suggest you do not download this ROM but that's just my opinion.
What this is:
This is EE's (UK operator)(formally Orange & T-Mobile) stock ROM for the GT-N7105 or Galaxy Note 2 LTE International - N7105XXXALIJ
Stock Kernel
Rooted
Busybox
Fully deodexed
Zip aligned
Some bloatware removed. (Light version)
What you would need:
Custom recovery (CWM) <-- See other threads for the how-to I might post a link later.
What you would do:
Download .zip
While waiting... it's big (sorry) ... do a nandroid <-- Google it.
Put .zip onto external SD Card (internal would be fine too but I think if you full wiped it'd get deleted and your panties would twist)
Flash .zip
Wait... remember it's big (sorry)
Wipe Cache
Wipe Dalvik Cache
Reboot
Enjoy
What else you would want to do:
Flash a different Kernel - there's only one floating around for now.
Use a storage data swap - two options
Use performance scripts, see around there are lots and they'll work best with a different kernel with init.d support - there is a thread with an how-to for getting support with any kernel/ROM and I tried it but failed. I didn't try hard.
Wipe Data - this shouldn't be necessary as your phone will already be on a stock ROM.
What I would like you to do:
Make themes and I'll link them in post 2
Tell me what default apps you want back or what taken away.
Post links to other stock ROMs you'd like made more convenient (that's all this is btw because it's no different than rooting etc yourself after the fact).
Talk about N7105 development - we all want proper Dev support and built from source roms.
What I don't want you to do:
Expect anything from me.
Flash this thinking it's something special, or that I'm a dev, or think that this is counts as actual development.

Tbh until there's been some discussion about what should be in and what should be out the light version is not recommended. There's literally too many apps and too many Samsung goodies to know whats right to remove.
The once we agree on the best minimum apps for a base, I'll just use that for updates and the other apps can come in a range flashable packages.
For now the recommended way to debloat is just use titanium backup.
Sent from my GT-N7105 using xda app-developers app
Those few who have downloaded the Light version, how is it? Did it boot? I remove anything that needs putting back in? Is there anything still there you would consider bloat?
Is the bloated version deodexed, zip aligned etc?
Yes. The only difference is a number of system apps are removed in the light version.

Great, trying it now. I want to see if the Multiwindow mod (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1953705) will work with this. If so it would be great to start having it cooked into later roms. Will feedback later.
Will cirtainly try it but my phone is acting up. It refuces to use 4g, it goes like a jojo between e/g/3g/h and thats when its connected. Most of the dsy its out of service so need to return it.

Has to be deodex / custom ROMs, right?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1961314
Support 7105 rom
Should have ALJ4 uploaded tomorrow.
Edit:
Dang the re branding broke s note. Can't fix until tomorrow. Probably just need to push a different s note app (has someone optimised that awful app yet?)
It's uploading anyway if it doesn't fail I'll post link but flashing it without at least removing the s note app will result in infinite FCs. It's otherwise untested.

Touchwiz 4.3[ROM] For i605

Touchwiz 4.3
This is Stock WITHOUT any added Note3 features
Download Link
R.A.H.TW_4.3_11-27-13-1908.zip - 1.09 GB
First Boot can take a while be patient.
Known TWRP issue ( and possible CWM ) attempting to preform a restore of TW4.3 may cause bootloop
Bugs
WiFi bug (see wifi patch section)
Signal bar does not show accurate signal (if any)
Possible root lost on first boot (see Root section)
WIFI PATCH FIX
Here's how to get Wifi working. Do this after installing the ROM. Thanks to seanzscreams for the fix and stvn1337 for posting the info. What this fix does is adds the paramaters needed for Wifi to work on TouchWiz 4.3 based ROMs while still allowing us to flash to other ROMs outside of the TouchWiz 4.3 stuff. Be forwarded that these steps do need to be followed pretty much dot on especially when it comes to apply the patch. Deviating on that part might cause some major issues including bricking your device. I will not be held liable if that were to happen or will XDA. You've been pretty well warned. Don't worry this is a pretty easy patch to apply so don't worry too much about it. Smile, eat a Kit Kat, and just do what I tell you. In no time you'll have working Wifi on this ROM.
FILES
4.3param_tz.zip - 690.83 KB
INSTRUCTONS
1 - Download Odin3 and the WiFi Fix files.
2 - Extract Odin3 and the WiFi Fix files. For the WiFi fix you just need to extract 4.3param_tz.zip so the 4.3param_tz.tar file is ready for us with Odin3.
3 - Download and install Samsung drivers if you don't have them already.
4 - Turn off Note 2. After turned off press Volume Down + Home Button + Power to boot into the bootloader.
5 - Plug Note 2 into PC with Odin3 running.
6 - Once your PC has detected and installed drivers your Note 2 should show up in Odin3.
7 - Load the Wifi fix file (should be named 4.3param_tz.tar) into the PDA option in Odin3.
8 - Hit the Start button. It'll only take seconds for the file to do its magic then your Note 2 will reboot into recovery.
9 - Reboot out of recovery.
10 - ????
11 - Wifi should work now!

@runandhide05 I am in the same boat as you I have everything working except data/signal.. I have ported from n7100 before but the process seems to be different in this case..4.3. I am still trying to get it corrected with different methods. Can you tell me what you have done so far so we can compare? I started with stock base 4.3 N7100.. Added our csc files, build.prop edits for cdma and a couple lib files and our modem. When I boot it boots fine.. In mobile networks I have option to select cdma/lte but still no signal.. We our missing something that i cant seem to find. Some files that we usually port over have been changed or are non existant in 4.3... and btw what kernel are you using I think this maybe the source of our problem..I can only seem to flash it and get it to boot with the 4.3 stock kernel and I am not skilled or have enough knowledge to know whether kernels have anything to do with lte capabilities.. I would assume so.. And if thats the case we will have to wait for the n7105 leak to get kernel source..

I can't seem to get this ROM to boot. I did not have any build errors. I used the make otapackage -j4 command and everything went smoothly. I go into TWRP and try to flash it and it says Failed. Then I unmount System and try again and it is Successful, but when it restarts it hangs on the Google screen. Anybody got any ideas?
Sounds like you are missing the binaries for the device. They are not in aosp source and need to be added separately during build time.

Just wanted to update everybody. I have been working on this ROM still and have been running into never ending fetch error while running repo sync. I am now trying the
Code:
repo sync -f -j4
command in the hopes that it will complete successfully. Once that is done all I have left to do is put in binaries and then build it. Today is my only day off until Tuesday, but I am hoping I can leave stuff running while I go to work and hopefully have a ROM to upload within the next couple of days. It would still be stock AOSP, but like I said before, I am still learning and will continue to do so and improve my ROM along the way. Wish me luck with this repo sync
Good to know!

did you add the vendor files?

If by vendor files you mean binaries then not yet. I am still waiting for the repo sync to finish.
Are these the files you mean? https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/drivers#hammerheadktu84p
I have downloaded and extracted them. Just waiting for sync to finish to move them into my working directory and start the build.
AHHHHHHH I keep having fetch errors!!!! This is getting really annoying. I am not sure what to do. I am going to try it one more time and then I am going to have to try doing this on a different computer in the house.
IT'S ALIVE!!!!!!!!!! Finally got everything to work. Installed it on my own phone (after making a nandroid of course) and everything seems to work perfectly. I am uploading it now and will post the link in the OP when it has finished.
ROM is up! Finally.
V1.1 is up! Just added some build.prop tweaks and added my ROMs name to it in the About phone page. Link is in OP. Enjoy!
@KerryWood34 its awesome to see you undertake this project and bring us along for the ride. Wish I had the know how..im jealous. I wont be flashing anytime soon..seems I have to have every feature possible in a ROM for me to be happy. But I will definitely keep tabs on your ROM. May want to put up a donate button. Heck I'd donate even tho Im not using your ROM. Kudos and keep it going!!

Thank you @zulu888. I really appreciate that. I've always wanted to make my own ROM and finally just said "Let's do this!" lol.
I will be adding features I find creative/useful/necessary to me to this ROM. I was trying to cherry-pick Hover from PA but that wasn't happening just yet so I decided to go with something a bit small for my first cherry-pick and did native battery percentage. It's building now and I will test it when I get home from work.
As far as a donate button, I thought XDA had a built in Donate button, no? I'll have to look into it.
Thank you again. I hope to learn everything I can from the XDA community, especially developers that have been doing this much longer than I. Any help or advice is greatly appreciated.
Thank you for the donation @zulu888. I'm not sure if you want it or not, but here's the confirmation number: 4YX957512U063384U.
Thank you again!

[TESTING] Sprint Note Edge 915P 5.0.1 OC8 Lollipop-rooted, deodexed, zipaligned

Update 04-24-15.
Please scroll down to post #27 as a starting point for this ROM development. @tx_dbs_tx has picked up the efforts and has it breathing. Please thank him for his efforts.
/////////////////////////////////////////////////
Update 1: 04-14-15 2121 hrs PDT. The update script doesn't work. The flash fails. I just tried it. I need to figure out where the problem is with the kitchen. I will take down the link for now.... Sorry guys.
Update 2: 04-15-15 0741 hrs PDT. In trying to figure out the issue with the kitchen, I broke the Ubuntu VM. I am in the process of rebuilding it, but that will take some time.
--------------------------------------
IF IT SEEMS LIKE I'M YELLING, IT IS BECAUSE I AM. THIS IS A PRE-PRE BETA BUILD. I AM NOT A DEV. I USED A KITCHEN THAT DOES NOT DIRECTLY SUPPORT THIS ROM. THIS IS BUILD WITH MY VERY LIMITED KNOWLEDGE. ANYTHING YOU DO WITH MY PRODUCT IS ALL ON YOU--YOU CAN BRICK YOUR PHONE AND/OR BECOME STERILE. I JUST DON'T KNOW. IF YOU'RE NOT WILLING TO JACK UP YOUR PHONE AND STAY UP ALL NIGHT TO FIX YOUR PHONE, DON'T TRY THIS.
THIS BUILD MAY BE DOA. I HAVE NOT HAD TIME TO FLASH OR TEST THIS, I JUST WANTED TO GET IT TO YOU GUYS ASAP. IT MAY NOT WORK AT ALL.
--This is a recovery flashable ROM
--[Should be] deodexed, if you see .odex files, they should be safe to delete
--zip aligned
--rooted (you will need to update SuperSU or maybe reapply CF Autoroot, update binary too)
--busybox and init.d support
--startup sound disabled
--includes modem/baseband
Step 1) Make nandroid/backup, backup your data again, and have a backup for your backup
A) If you're on my KK ROM
--download and flash via recovery
--wipe cache/dalvik
--reboot and pray
--if all works, phone will start w/ Lollipop and all your apps, you should have the OC8 baseband too, the only thing you don't have is the latest bootloader, which is okay most of the time. If you want that too, flash the stock package (see below).
B) If you OTA'd or odin'd the stock package
--root and install recovery
--go to A)
C) If you're on KK and want the LP bootloader
--odin the stock package (from my other thread)
--odin recovery
--go to A)
Let me know how it works out. Like I said, I just wanted to get this out ASAP. I have done exactly zero testing. No idea how it will work out. The instructions above are based on memory and off of the top of my head. If this doesn't work, restore from your backup and let me know, and I'll deodex using my old tried-and-true methods (which is much more time consuming).
Again, I want to manage your expectations. I have no confidence that this will work. If it does, it's a miracle! Good luck to us all....
Oh yea, the link [taken down for now]
Check MD5....

Well it's alright. At the dismay and protest of my gf, I will flash this shortly and see how it works. Can't believe I'm taking the phone over [possible] sex.
Downloading to test
Thank you.
I just tested it. The updater script fails to execute. I'm looking into it.
I requested our firmware and kernel but they responded with this:[SAMSUNG OSRC COMMENTS DELIVERY NOTIFICATION]

FOSS = Free and Open-Source Software
It looks like they will only provide you with FOSS used in Samsung products, which makes sense.

Thanks for the encouragement guys. I have been working on fixing the kitchen when I have time. If that doesn't work, I'll do it the traditional way, which is to extract the ROM manually, and deodex, etc. I don't do this often, so I have to figure things out each time. This will get done because I can't live without root and I can't live without Xposed customization. I am off to a business trip tomorrow, so I won't pick this up again until next Thursday or Friday. Thanks for your patience.
After a few hours of work, I got the VM and kitchen running again. I have also resolved the symlink issue. Instead of doing the work on a shared folder with the host, I expanded the VM Linux partition and do all the work there.
The updater script generated by the kitchen does not work. I suspect this is because of the unsupported kitchen.. I will try to use the script from the NK1 ROM. That should work fine.
I've run into something that I don't quite understand. I expect to see the \system\app and \system\priv-app to be full of apks and odex files. When I extracted the ROM, these two folders contain one sub-folder for each of the apk, containing the app apk and other folders. For example, for Maps:
system\app\maps\maps.apk
system\app\maps\arm\maps.odex.art.xz and maps.odex.xz
system\app\maps\lib\arm\*.so files
During odin or OTA, I believe a script would properly install these files. The traditional kitchen extraction doesn't provide for that. Because of this, I think I will need to first odin the stock package, run a nandroid, and use that as the basis for making the deodexed/rooted ROM.
At this time, if anyone can shed some light on what I am seeing, it would be helpful.
It would also be helpful if someone who has already OTA'ed or odin'd the Lollipop package, and have installed TWRP/CWM, can nandroid the /system and boot, and send those files to me. (It does not matter if it is rooted or not). I am off to a business trip later today, so I won't be able to do anything until I get back next Thursday. If no one sends me the files, I'll odin to Lollipop and extract the files myself when I return.
Thanks.
Well, this partially explains the folders I see:

Can I help. If you can explain I will give it a shot. I have flashed the ext sd card and the sound modification. Will that matter?
Sincerely,
Charles
