[Q] Stuck in Odin mode "Could not do normal boot." - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S 4

I recently got my new Verizon Galaxy S4 and decided to play around with it. I got it rooted fine and got a few apps on there (like Titanium backup) and decided that, since I would eventually want to play around with ROMs, I would want to unlock the phone.
I looked around and found there were some options for me, the one I chose being the "all in one" option that roots, unlocks and installs a custom recovery mode for you. I went through this process and now get nothing but the Downloader Mode (could not do normal boot). Even if I pop out the battery and try to reboot it, I get this screen.
I later found that apparently the ME7 model currently will not accept attempts to unlock the phone and install a custom ROM or recovery menu. How do I fix this? I tried using Odin, but it doesn't recognize the phone as being connected. I am currently trying other methods like Kies, to see if there is any way to at least to an emergency recovery and get it back to normal.
EDIT: Ran into the same issue with Kies as I did with Odin, it does not see anything connected to the computer.

Do you have the correct drivers installed? Does adb recognize the device? You're in Odin mode when you try to use Odin to push something? I believe with ME7 you can Odin back to the official stuff.

You need to make sure you have the drivers for the phone and have a solid USB connection (I prefer the rear of a tower)
sent from my GE gs4

I ended up getting it to work. I had to go here:
http://www.intel.com/support/chipsets/inf/sb/CS-013541.htm
and get files to get the computer to recognize the device. Even afterwards, Keis had no idea what was going on, and Odin saw it and was able to install a stock firmware I downloaded earlier, saving the phone.
For now I will be satisfied with just root access and will wait for ROM capabilities.

I hate to hijack a thread but I'm stuck here. My GS 4 (Vzw) was supposedly successfully rooted using TWRP, but now I have no way to enter any sort of recovery. The package I downloaded for the root does not have an Odin version to run. I've been getting the endless prompts to install the 4.3 update but there is no way to do this on my phone. I get the same "Could not do normal boot. Odin mode. Write protection enabled" message with the downloading screen. I try to boot into recovery via CWM or Goomanager but it always goes to the same screen. I can't make any backups or restore now either or I would just do a factory reset. Any ideas? I'm on VRUAME7.

Um.... there's no recovery available with ME7.... are you on the MDK bootloader?
Sent from your mom's smartphone

I don't think so but how would I confirm? I'm just trying to get the 4.3 update installed but at every attempt it goes into Odin Mode and gets stuck.

You're said that you're on ME7 - what you need to do is to flash the "No wipe" ME7 ROM onto your phone. It's in the Development forum.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2301259
You've got to update to MI1 before you can install the 4.3 update (MJ7).
ONLY flash files intended for whatever release you're running. You can't mix and match, can't go backwards, and can't skip updates.

Theres also an ml1 factory image in the dev section.
Hit thanks if I helped you out. Doing a little bit of reading goes a long way. Sent via tapatalk.

Hi! Sorry to kind of "butt in" on your thread, but I'm somewhat of a noob and have the same exact problem as you. If you don't mind, can you explain what you downloaded from Intel and what you did afterwards that fixed your problem? I'd really appreciate it, since my phone's been dead to me for more than a week now....

On that page I linked to, look for this:
Solution:
Download and run the Intel® Chipset Software Installation Utility so Windows* properly recognizes the SMBus controller.
Get the proper driver download according to your OS, then install it. This should allow Odin to see the phone for you to install a clean copy of the stock ROM onto the phone.
If you want more details I am sorry to say I cannot provide them. When things involve me fixing my own technology, it is a lot of rapid-fire troubleshooting and I just go with what sticks without really memorizing what I did (so if I run into this issue again, I have to re-research).

No need to worry about it.
Uninstall the drivers associated with the phone. Are you using Windows?
For XP: Go to start > Control Panel > System > Click on the Hardware tab and then Device Manager. Find the driver for the phone. I remember it has a yellow icon, and the drivers name is a mix of capital letters
It's probably similar for Windows 7, but i wouldn't know.
Uninstall the driver associated with the phone, then reinstall by plugging your phone into the computer in download mode. It would help to uninstall and reinstall Odin as well, just in case.
If you get Odin to work, just work away like you would.
Thanks for your reply, i have uninstalled the drivers, but when i plugged my phone back in, the drivers are not being installed and i can not find them on the internet. Any ideas?
I know how i messed up, i completely forgot to root my phone before i started to flash, any ideas on how i can just get my phone back to its normal working everyday self?
Will i just need to get the device recognised by Odin then insert the Ops file and the I5500.tar file and flash it back to stock?
edit- managed to get drivers installed, now how do i fix my phone? Just flash the .OPS and the stock I5500.tar file?

I think it'll fail again if your phone isn't rooted. You can't get rid of the Computer-Caution-Phone image without succesfully using Odin.
You could try to flash the .tar and .ops file again. I can't see it working though unfortunately.
Any ideas then? Is there a way to root my phone via Odin or anything?

I've never heard of rooting your phone through the download mode or through Odin.
Maybe there's a file you can put on your phone through Odin which doesn't require root? I'll take a look around for you.
Thank you so much, i appreciate it, I'm 16, can't really live without a phone especially with college parties coming up in the next few days aha, I knew i shouldn't of risked around with flashing again!

Just thinking that Odin is a program which requires root so there won't be any file you can transfer when unrooted. I had a quick glance over at the Odin thread, and the first step is that you have to root your phone.
I'm sorry, but there's nothing else I can think of which might help. Maybe if somebody with a bit more knowledge/expeerience sees this thread, they might help.
Can Odin detect your phone?
Ah man, thanks anyway, yes Odin detects my phone, I'm trying to use SuperOneClick Root on my PC- Do you know any other Root software that works on PC?

I don't know of any others, but Superoneclick works fine for the Galaxy 5. Like I said, I've never heard of using it during download mode so just be careful with that.
If Odin detects your phone, have you tried just closing Odin and plugging out the USB safely?
Can't use Superoneclick as my phone isn't in USB Debugging and i obviously can't change that aha I have just tried that, no luck with the closing Odin and unplugging it, should i try installing CWM again or is that a bad idea?

It's a bad idea because it just won't work. Odin will crash again.
I don't know what to do I'm afraid.
Looks like my phone is shagged due to my own stupidity, I forgot to root it because my phone was previously rooted and it went back for repairs, then I completely forgot i didnt install Root access -.-
Do you think i can recover my phone or is it well and truly gone?
Well it's not like your phone is bricked or anything. It's just broken a connection to Odin and it won't boot until it's completed.
You could always return it for repairs again. Your warranty might be broken though.
If I happen to come across a DIY fix then I'll post it here.
Thanks for your help mate, i've decided to just send my phone back for repairs, buy a new phone (Probably a Blackberry for BBM and stuff with all my mates), and sell my phone once i get it back.I have gave up on Samsung mobiles.
Thank you.
Did you send your phone alredy? Uncompress the firmware.tar file and unselect "one package in Odin" . On the boot in odin select the boot file of the .tar and run odin. Maybe that will help

Hi, had the very same issue as you. Odin crashed just few sec after start. What I did ; uninstalled everything (Odin & files comes with it, KIES). Then restart PC, go to Samsung.com and download latest KIES, when downloaded go to Tools and check for updates. Accept/run them, when done restart PC. Now, read the steps bellow, and see the attached picture.
1. Extract Odin v4.28 and Ops File.zip I5500XXXX.rar
2. Open Odin v4.28,
- Select OPS tab: EUROPA_v1.0.ops
- Make sure Auto Reboot & Protect OPS selected in Option tab
- get this I5500XFJPQ from samfirware.com ( for some strange reason only this package worked!), download, and unzipp to folder called GT-I5500. In to this folder place Odin and ops as well.
- Make sure One Package selected in Option tab
3. Turn off phone, remove battery for 5second, put it back
4. Hold "Volume Down, Center button & Power button" in the same time to enter Download Mode (yellow triangle)
5. Connect to PC with USB cable
6. When the data line and the phone connection is successful, com port shows yellow in Odin
7. Press Start on Odin
8. Waitin & Pray!
9. PASS, its done!
*Hard reset after flashing *2767*3855#
*Check ur Phone Info *#*#1234#*#*
Note: my i5500 was rooted, so if was yours then ok. When pressing buttons you must see an yellow triangle! If you don't see it don't try connect. Remove battery for 3-5 minutes and try again...
Thanks for the replies, I've got my 'broken' phone in its box on my wardrobe, Carphone Warehouse have ordered me a brand new G5 to replace mine, I should get that sometime next week, but I'm buying a HTC Wildfire S pretty soon anyway!
Thanks for your help, I'd rather keep my broken phone well, broke aha.
Have you tried flashing twrp recovery then using cf-autoroot?

[Q] Galaxy s2 data recovery when panic upload screen

Greetings,
My son has a Galaxy s2 running stock 2.3 which he bought in Singapore over a year ago, I think. He states that it has not been rooted. Over the last several weeks he has been getting the 'kernal panic upload mode' screen when the battery was getting low. Last week it became permenant regardless of the battery level. Yesterday I was able to talk him through entering recovery mode. He wiped the partition cache and rebooted with no apparent effect. A picture of the recovery mode screen idicates that the system was unable to mount /data (unknown error: 0). But it did show media files were copied succesfully. ... I've attached a picture of the screen. The phone is no longer recognized in Win7.
My basic question. How might we rescue the pictures and some text from the phone before redoing the os?
TIA,
Kim
Kim, flash siyah v5 and try cwm.
Also drill your son on what is that he did exactly, cause he must have done something.
Sent from the little guy
I had thought that if all else failed I would have him use Odin to re-apply his existing os. My thinking was that the file and partition structure would be close enough to what's there to allow normal usb connection and to d/l his pics and what not. Then I'd get him to install something with a little more support for recovery and snooping about. Decent enhancements!!
I don't know what he did other than I think he might have overloaded the little beast with too many apps constantly calling home on an older os. But, that's just a guess. Thanks for the upgrade suggestions. I'm only starting to research that aspect. I suspect that going direct to the better burns will be the way we'll end up going.
Be well,
Kim
Siyah is a custom kernel, no danger regarding existing data.
By flashing it you'll be able to access a temp recovery called clockwork mode.
Sent from the little guy
Greetings gastonw,
My son's getting the usb drivers from the Samsung site for the i9100. I found the tar Siyah-s2-v5.0.1.tar for Odin.
Odin3 version is 3.04. Don't know what else I need.
I'm going to be doing this long distance and I've not handled a smart phone personally so ...
1. Start the phone in download mode.
2. Connect phone to computer
3. Start Odin (making sure that Kies is not running), Odin should recognize the phone.
4. Load the tar in the pda section
5. check automatic reboot, and start.
6. I presume that I will know when it's done because odin will report success or finished, and the phone will boot.
To grab the data off this phone do we use the recovery mode or will it now be called clockwork mode?
At which point I presume we shut the phone down and do a normal start/boot.
Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks for your help. Reading the specs on the Siya work I'm almost tempted
to go get a phone for myself.
Be well,
Kim
Lol, that's awesome, your playing by the book
Custom recovery will become CWM instead of stock recovery.
And go ahead and get yourself a new phone, you're in for a hell of a ride.
Sent from the little guy
Thank!! My son called and said the usb still doesn't work. Hum .... I hope not, but I may be back to see if there's a way to transfer something from an sd card in order to save the data. On the flip side ...
Kim
Odin doesn't see his device or the pc calls it "unknown device"?
Can he get it to boot, he can use airdroid app or dropbox to transfer over wifi.
The custom kernel is just to get rid of that pabic message.
Sent from the little guy
Mornin' gastonw,
Well, as of a couple of minutes ago, win7 did not recognize the phone. Hopefully with a reinstallation of the Samsung specific usb drivers win7 and/or Odin will recognize the phone.
Interesting. When he booted into download mode the top of the screen said something like, 'Odin download mode'. Does this indicate that it might be rooted? To the best of my knowledge he was unaware of the three button boot loader mode and hence would not have changed the phone from the basic generic non-branded phone that he bought. Just wondering. If it is rooted is there a way to manually do, via the recovery mode, what Odin will be doing? It seems to me that if recovery allows to d/l from the sd card there must be a destination to be designated. I have no idea what the drive and directory layout is, and I'm a tad rusty on linix shell commands, don't even know what shell android uses. But, if I knew where the package had to go ... .
I'll write again when I know more.
Thanks again,
Kim
Well the last I heard is that no USB *and* it's probably a win7 problem!!!! Good golly miss molly!
Anyway, snooping about I found a thread [howto] which indicated that putting a clock work mod zip on an sd and d/ling it thru the recovery mode would install the clock work mod recovery boot.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1814801
Now I can not find a further reference to a zip with the name format used in this post. However at the modclockwork site I do find two
http://clockworkmod.com/rommanager. One is for 'touch'. I don't know the difference between the two. But, am I understanding correctly that I can put the appropriate zip on an sd from which I can d/l thru the standard recovery mode which on restart I presume will give me access to cmw recovery mode? Seems to easy. LOL!!!
Any help would be appreciated.
Kim
This is how you root & flash cwm via recovery: http://m.youtube.com/#/watch?v=7psIQU69h3M&desktop_uri=/watch?v=7psIQU69h3M&gl=MX
Tell him to try another PC to see if it sees the device.
Genuine s2 usb I assume?

[Q] p769 - softbricked by noob

i finally figured out how to get CWM installed and working, after a couple of months of fighting with it, off and on. so, i guessed that meant i have my bootloader unlocked - "wrong!".
i deleted some thing that wasn't supposed to be deleted, then the damned cell network and lan network stopped working (keeps saying com.android.phone has stopped). so i was going to put cyanogenmod on it, because i thought that i could, and just be done with the whole "missing apps" crap. it turns out "just because you CAN put CM on it doesn't mean you CAN put CM on it". i bricked it. i have NO options to "load" or "flash" or "boot" any thing when the phone is booting up. i would love some clarification as to what i CAN do from here.
i would rather install CM and be done with all of this, but i'll take any advice that gets rid of the problem. the biggest problem is understanding how to put CM on your phone, or to do any thing at all like that, when you cant get into any kind of recovery / boot menu, even though you ARE rooted... i don't care if i have to install cyanogenmod or some one else's CWM backup, i just don't know HOW to do it - especially with no windows (only linux). it's a rooted p769v20d (originally p769v10g).
thanks

i was going to try some stuff mentioned in other threads, but i don't have access to a windows computer - and i don't think i need to root my phone again any way, considering it is still rooted.

fwiw, regarding the mysterious deleted app:
i lose my internet signal as soon as it says "com.android.phone has stopped", then i get it back again right before it says that message again - it ALSO shows a cell-phone signal right before that message. this repeats over and over and over every few seconds - aggravating as hell...

thanks, but i think i finally got it working. i never knew, after all this time, that after you do the l9recoveryinstaller, at the reboot, there are no cues to tell when when to hit some buttons, and it's not clear what buttons to hit. here's what i did, and, so far, its progress:
1: be rooted
2: install busy box, completely
3: install l9recoveryinstaller
4: reboot
5: after you see the LG logo, hold vol-down until you see the flashing lights (i thought you see the flashing lights and THEN you hit vol-down, but i was wrong).
still fighting to get a rooted rom installed ...
if i choose "install zip from external sdcard" is says:
"finding update ... opening update ... installing update ...installation aborted".
if i choose "restore" instead of "install" it will not let me select any thing, it just keeps saying file not found, when i try to select any further options, whether "restore" or "restore from external sdcard" or "advanced restore from external sdcard". and i already checked to make sure the sdcard was mounted...

I think your phone bootloader is locked, you cannot flash any custom rom zip file. It will soft brick your phone.
Please restore P769 CWM back from this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2136204. Download backup file and unbzip it. Put extract files in your sdcard /clockworkmod/backup/2013-08-30.12.00.00 folder. Extract file should contain several .img, .tar, .a, .log and .md5

Well correct me if I am wrong, but I guess you "only" deleted some system files, right? Do you remember which ones were the ones? Or at least the folder they were in? Then you only need to extract that stuff from a kdz/ the bin file and push them on your phone using adb or maybe even the dd command.
Maybe if someone is kind enough, he ll probably provide you with the files you need. And cmiiw, but I guess you deleted stuff from /system/app...

Lol, you are a Linux user, you should know how to get your hands on a windows.iso
However, i would recommend using a portable windows xp (bootable usb)
VR is not the best option IMO
You will need this program http://unetbootin.sourceforge.net/
&
Sorry I can't provide a link to the iso but do a google search for
portable windows xp bootable usb Osheraj

It's depend on what method you use. You can flash kdz using offline method here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2085344
or use LG mobile support tools from LG website. If you choose this you don't need to download any kdz. It'll download kdz automatically from LG server then flash it on your phone. It take about an hour or two.

thats awesome - i wonder if i can get by with using that on wine on linux, instead of borrowing a windows computer... i'm gonna try it...
well, the verdict is in, on this one: i'm screwed. i've tried and tried and tried and tried and tried and tried and tried and tried and tried and tried and tried and tried, and i can NOT flash this damned phone. it's BRICKED.
i borrowed / hijacked my brother's computer (windows7), all day. i tried a few different things - i even tried the same way i flashed it to update it ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2356536 ), which was worthless to unbrick it.
the problem in every case was that every time the damned flasher got so far along it would "lose the connection to the phone". drivers installed, etc, etc, no difference. i suspect its because i couldnt connect it in all the various modes (mtp ptp etc), since the ONLY way it would connect is in "software upgrade mode".
i had to buy another phone, won't have it till tuesday. lesson learned: NEVER buy a phone that didn't come from samsung... you just can't do what you want with them, without a lot of time, patience, experience, and a windows computer.
thanks for all the help.

Did you try to recover your phone with LG mobile support tool. It can reinstall rom in almost any soft-brick case. Please try it if you haven't try it yet. Many people restore their phone by that software. The steps are
- Download LG mobile support tool from LG web site
- Boot you phone to S/W update mode
- Run Tool and select recover phone
- Wait about 1-2 hours to download and flash
If it's not hardware problem, this should solve your problem

i never found that on their website, and i looked quite a few times. however, i noticed when i used the b2clientsetup.exe that if i run it without running the shttp server first, that it downloads a support tool from the net, which does not work - keeps saying phone lost connection. not sure if its the same tool.

Yes that tool. In my region, it has download link but for P769 it has request repair service.
Download from http://tool.xcdn.gdms.lge.com/client/app/B2CAppSetup.exe
You must remove following lines from hosts file
127.0.0.1 csmg.lgmobile.com
127.0.0.1 csmgdl.lgmobile.com
Then run it

yeah, that's exactly what i did, but it would keep "losing the connection to the phone". not sure why, but i suspect it was a driver issue - and i installed the latest drivers, which made no difference. i also went back and installed older drivers, which made no difference. i must just be lucky as hell, or some thing .

In my country (RO) there are some GSM Repair Centers. You should not give up and you should go to them. Par example, I flashed an HTC Mozart when the battery was dead and I bricked it (idiot, I know). I went to a shop like the ones mentioned above and I think he said that he has to flash the phone using a JTAG or something like that (I know that he has to open the phone to reach it's motherboard, solder some **** out there and... flash I guess). The whole thing was about ~20E. Anyway, keep digging, maybe you'll eventually find something that works for you. If not, go to someone who can "force flash" it and maybe you can save the device.

SAMSUNG SM-G530AZ (Cricket) ALL FIRMWARES

Okay I have seen various requests so I decided to hook it up, I had to pay for these but here ya go. I have full firmware for lollipop or kitakat and you can get them from the following links to my google drive.
https://drive.google.com/folderview?id=0BxcLJPerShJ_ZDJrNV9fRVBSdU0&usp=sharing
Within you will see two folders you can pick either kitkat or lollipop and to do a full flash download the files starting with ALL then flash with odin by placing in the pda section. The others shouldnt even be needed if your looking just to fully flash the device use the ones that start with the label ALL. Enjoy. Wish someone could get the bootloader unlocked for this variant. If their are any other variants that need firmware let me know ill see what i can do.
I am curious could i perhaps flash the csc for tmobile then maybe my dev settings let me unlock bootloader like tmobile variant? I am not certain but I feel like it could possibly
Any luck with that ? ? I bought this phone on Valentines Day with android 5.1.1. The first thing I did was download Your stock firmwares cuz I knew it was gonna be a start of another journey with another Samsung device with lil to no development for it. Been doing research daily since then, You've been the most helpful & informative for Our cricket variant of the Grand Prime.

If I doesn't turn on at all. Then it's bricked. To make sure. Switch the battery or charge it. If it still doesn't turn on there is nothing you can do. But if you can get into Odin and download mode. There is hope and I have the files you'll need to salvage it.
Has anyone had any luck rooting this damn SM-G530AZ (5.1.1) ?? I've tried numerous methods and suggestions but so far this thing just won't give in....

their is no bootloader unlock or custom recovery for the 530az that i am aware of, so i never could make a nandroid backup. If you know of a way to actually use a custom recovery etc on the 530az I would make you a backup.

That´s the history. I recieve the samsung (sm-g530az), but the smartphone don´t connect to wifi, when you choose the network only appear "Saved, Protected". No matter how much times you select the network, always appear the same thing and the device do nothing. Well, i thinked in that moment in change the firmware. I read in this forum a possible solution, that solution says "Download the Samsung Kies, then connect your device and select -upgrade your device-. Type your model and S/N, and Kies does the rest". I did it, everything seemed fine, until the process stopped. And an error message appears that says "Disconnect the phone and retire the battery, then turn on + ^ + home to start the emergency recovery". I did it all, but when i connect it, my pc, odin and kies don´t recognize it, my Samsung died. I put the phone in download mode and nothing happens. I reinstall the driver, kies and everything and odin at last recognize my device. Then I dowloaded "Philiz Touch Recovery" and I could flash it with odin. After all, I clean my device and prepare it for a custom rom. I installed it "cyanogenmod 12.1 unofficial", but when restart the device, it doesn't enter to the system, only boot in recovery or bootloader. But my pc don´t recognize my device in download mode, and I can´t flash it with odin. So I need the backup to restore my device.
Try to install "Philiz Touch Recovery" with Odin. I did it, and works for me. When I recieved the samsung, i don´t unlocked the device and I could flash the CWM. Thanks for your response

ya i think you messed up royally, their is no working philz or cwm for the 530AZ at all because the bootloader is locked soooo i dont see how you ever flashed it with that in the first place, but if you indeed were able to then it looks like you have a soft brick of sorts since the bootloader is locked on that model, their is firmware but you for some reason are unable to flash with odin so sadly I am not sure what else you could do other than maybe see if it is recognized on other usb ports or computer also check your device manager in windows and check and see if the usb device is listed if it shows a yellow exclamation or unknown device then manually update the driver for the unknown device as an android device

I maybe have a solution to fix the bootloop. since you went to philz recovery. There is a bug with philz recovery. If im correct. But i got it fixed with some zip file and using command on that flash. If you still need this solution let me know. I can post the zip file and step by step of the command.

HEY I REALLY NEED THAT!
I don't have the actual CWM on my phone yet. I just got it today. I already have it rooted, deodexed, and debloated(somewhat).
I was able to root it using kingroot. I'm still working for a way to replace the newest kingroot(5.1.0) with SuperSU.
But my question is does it actually work? Have you flashed the tar with odin and fix the code in it with commands.
Just reading your post gives me chills honestly. I like doing things as soon as I can! I'm a phoneaholic.

Am I doomed

Greetings all,
I am a real noob and have recently taken to playing with my android devices.
Unfortunately I am in a predicament with my old S3 I9300.
I really screwed up and failed to make a Nandroid back up when using TWRP to flash Cynagenmod 13, after following the correct procedure on my other I9300 and successfully flashing it I became cocky and made the fatal error of not having a back up. A bit of back story but perhaps unrelated it was also suffering the old "Failed to Mount EFS" message which I have recently learnt to fix on my Old Old I9100 S2 using ADB.
After flasing It was in a Cynagenmod boot loop and was not able to be recognized by my pc via download mode or recovery, so was unable to use Odin, Kies or even ADB.
After experiencing USB issues with Cynagenmod 13 on my other I9300 when the flash was successful, I decided that perhaps it would be better to flash Android Revolution as the USB connections just seem to work better. After the flash seemed to be successful and the Samsung Logo just hung around and never booted.
I played with it all day, trying to get Kies, ADB and Odin to recognize it to no avail, (I tried every little trick on Google, reinstall drivers, restart pc , restart device, plug unplug, play with the buttons and the battery etc.....) the thing is, is that Odin would recognize it in bootloop.
After growing tired of this not working, for some stupid reason I decided to flash CWM over TWRP via MicroSD, i just thought maybe I could get ADB to work or something. Anyway the flash worked and I continued to try ADB, KIES and ODIN but nothing.
To make matters worse currently when I try to go to Recovery CWM is now looping (I'm hoping its a passing phase), so with recovery gone my phone is restricted to Download mode. I really think my last chance is to get download mode communicating with Kies to get the Firmware.
Feeling frustrated and about throw my phone on the recycling heap after googling and reading so many XDA threads I decided to reach out and ask for any help or suggestions in finding a way to get my phone recognized in Download Mode.
I thank you for your time in reading this post and look forward to hearing any advice.
Cheers.

Hey Mate,
Firstly we all are noobs here helping each other, secondly from my experience of S3, it is such a device that under any condition, if your hardware is intact, you can recover your phone from almost anything, so yeah you might have a solution to your problem.
Coming to the problem at hand, i had the same thing happen to my S3, (only twrp logo showed, couldn't access recovery, no ROM, only download mode available) the way i fixed it was using odin, now i know you say that odin is not recognizing your device, the thing is firstly Kies is useless in this situation acc. to me, it only works stock ROM and that too with difficulty, what i would say is go here - http://developer.samsung.com/technical-doc/view.do?v=T000000117
and then install the drivers to your PC, next up download the official firmware from sammobile or any other site (careful of the version you are using), now put the phone in download mod, start odin and then connect your phone. Now, hopefully odin will recognize your phone and you can flash the official firmware, also i would recommend to stay on the official firmware for like a week before returning to flashing again as i have noticed that constant flashing and wiping leads to not only errors like "unable to mount EFS" but also serious errors like "Unable to mount /system" or "Unable to mount /Data" ,which clearly sucks
Please try the method and tell me if it worked , if not we'l try something else but we sure as hell will get your device working again
If still not recognized then here is a suggestion :
Exit/uninstall from nokia/ovi suit.
Exit/uninstall bluestack. (if u r using it)
Update your drivers(phone specific)
Use correct odin version acc to ur phone
Sent from my Micromax E352 using XDA-Developers mobile app
I'm just gonna throw my 2 cents in too. I didn't read your whole thread as I'm in a slight rush right now.
But basically -
Can your PC recognise your phone when it's plugged into USB in Download Mode? If so, use ODIN to flash any stock firmware and you're back to square one (working, but stock) phone. Then go from there. Obviously try to flash the right firmware or you'll end up no further forward.
If it can't recognise it, try reinstalling the drivers, uninstalling the programs mentioned above and using another USB cable. My experience with my own S3 has shown potential wear with the USB port on the bottom of the phone presumably due to it's age and as a result it doesn't recognise many USB cables.
Regards
