Verizon HTC One only version in north America with 4.2 why? - T-Mobile HTC One (M7)

What is taking so long for north America to get 4.2 for the HTC One. Lots have said it had something to do with Verizon but then why does Canada not have it either. The phone is listed by HTC as running 4.2. The rest of the world started getting it early July, what's the hold up?

HTC just announced that U.S. HTC One's will be skipping 4.2.2 and will be updated to 4.3 instead by the end of September. Hopefully it's true.

ICS release?

When do you think we will see a.official release.of ICS
Sent from my ADR6425LVW using xda premium
Sometime before 2013....if we're lucky. HTC hasn't announced anything other than "early" 2012. Which bares no designation, and since HTC is notorious for delivering updates months after they're originally slated.
My guess would be around March or April.

I am already impressed with the speed of updates on this phone. My last phone (HTC Desire on US Cellular) had only 1 update. It was launched in august 2010 and didn't get froyo until feb 8th 2011. No maintenance updates in between. The GSM version of the same phone in Europe got froyo when the US Cellular version launched.

Totally know the feeling. Didn't get too much love from Motorola on my droid 2.
Sent from my ADR6425LVW using Tapatalk
Really hoping to have it by May, would be cool.
While I would enjoy ICS, I am really wanting S-OFF more than ICS for the benefits it would allow, such as updating the radio to truly work globally fully. I did get into HTC Elevate, so I'm watching that for further information.
I wanna guess by the summer.
Probably sometime near 2013...
Sent from my ADR6425LVW using xda premium
I would say relatively soon... The leaks we have run pretty damn well if you ask me. Most of the problems are more minor bugs and some are due to the fact that we can't flash new firmware associated with ICS like radios

Release
Since the White Sensation was just announced, and it is to be released with ICS on March 1st, I'd like to think that we would have it by the end of April.

Isn't that the same date someone posted two years ago for the OG Droid to get Froyo?
Just a date for general use, eh?
We should have a poll party for the update, will call it UPDATE POLL and there should be a prize.

Battery FIX Please!
The leaked versions of ICS have been pretty good. I just want them to fix the battery issue. Its a real pain in the ass!
We are dealing with Verizon...July 1st...I hope I'm wrong...

Do you think EVO 4G LTE will (officially) get Android 4.1 "Jellybean" ?

^ see title
Hope so!
As long as there xda there will be jellybean. Look how long it took to get ics. I had ics on my htc sensation a entire year before htc released it.
So if you wait for official release you would be wasting your time if you have the evo. If you want fast updates without flashing roms stick with nexus devices
Sent from my EVO using XDA Premium App
No doubt about it the phone is barely a month old and since 4.1 is looking more like an incremental upgrade I have a feeling it will spread much faster than ics did atleast to ics devices since it doesn't seem like HTC and other manufacturers will need to redo their skins. Just wonder what jellybean will bring to the table its still pretty much a mystery other than the nexus tablet
Sent from my EVO using xda premium
Wow, I should hope so. I don't think it's if, but when. I'm sure it will drag out longer than any of us think it should.
Yes, but "how long" is the challenge.
It'd be nice if it were independent of carriers/OEMs given its #.1 so its not a major revision.
Sent from my EVO LTE
Definitely. I guesstimate it for September-November

Yes, but we won't get the new sense 4.6 upgrade, only 4.5 because of some random reason given by HTC to encourage us to purchase a new phone that doesn't have the same inadequacy of hardware
Yes but we probably will miss some features like the evo 4g missed on froyo coming from eclair , but will be ok

There is no doubt that EVO LTE will get Jelly Bean. However, I don't think it'll be til late next spring/early next summer.
Reasoning:
The original EVO 4G was released summer of 2010. It was given Gingerbread AFTER the release of the EVO 3D. I'm intentionally ignoring the FroYo update because it was the first EVO and HTC wanted to keep it current (aka keep it selling) to make the EVO name famous. Clever marketing.
The EVO 3D was released in summer of 2011. Now that the EVO LTE has been released, there's some ICS OTA stuff happening in Europe (meaning it's only a matter of time before the 3vo gets it's ICS).
Thus, the EVO LTE was released summer of 2012. Based on the pattern, the LTE will most likely get official JB after next year's EVO release (if there is one).
Just my thoughts

Doubt it cause Samsung is being aggressive about their push so they probably be agresive on updates too, international GS2 got ICS back in March so that was probably one of the earliest updates with only one device they could make it happen faster, so htc need to make sure they keep it up

Ehh I think its still to early and they know it would hurt them more than help them. Using this update as leverage to buy a phone that isn't even rumored yet. This will be like the evos froyo update imo

The og evo was released with 2.1. Was the first non nexus phone to get 2.2 about a month later. Then got 2.3 a month before the 3d was released (ive owned all the evos since their release) 2.3 to 4.0 was a huge update, 4.0 to 4.1 is not. Im sure we will see 4.1 this year

I'll wait to see what 4.1 includes before making a firm guess. I but I would bet on getting before year end.
Don't expect ground breaking features today guys.

Not sure. Since it's an incremental update, it could be like Honeycomb (mostly meant for tablets).
Is it possible Jelly Bean will have the linaro toolchain implemented?

We got leaks before the EVO 3D release, but we didn't get official until after. I remember, I was there lol.
I'm just going by the update schedule already in place, I could be wrong it seems more likely that Sprint wants to get the next big EVO out for people to buy rather than support the one that's out now.

Release date

Anyone has idea about the release date for at&t.?

It won't be released for T mobile in the us, it is exclusive to at&t. Whether other not tmobile in Europe will carry it is another question entirely

International version on Oct. 22nd, Carrier versions aprox. 1-2 month after that.
I read online last night that the One VX (or whatever it is) and the new Windows 8 devices will be out for ATT in November. I really don't see why the X+ wouldn't come out around or AT the same time. My upgrade is in November and after getting my Vivid I am very anxiously waiting for the upgrade and that phone to come out.

My guess is that the Sprint/T-Mobile version gets 4.2.2 in September, followed by ATT a few weeks later.

Android 4.3 coming to EVO by next month?

So says Jason Mackenzie, president of global sales at HTC,
Lots of questions re 4.3 release for One. We r wrking hard (needs cert) to release 4.3 across all US, Canada skus by end Sept. DNA as well

Even if we get it in October, should hold me over for my next upgrade around April of 2014.

I hate to be a burster of bubbles, however this tweet explicitly mentions the HTC One, and makes no reference to the Evo LTE, or even the HTC One X series of phones. It confirms nothing at all about any update coming for our device.

It doesn't have to explicitly say it, since EVO LTE is a carrier specific phone, spun-off from HTC ONE X. Also, EVO LTE got the Jelly bean here first IIRC before HTC ONE X did here in the states. So if history is any indication, I think it does apply to EVO LTE.

However, this tweet is referring to the HTC One, not the HTC One X. The HTC One is the newest phone from HTC, and is about a year newer than the HTC One X. It was the one that launched with 4.2 and Sense 5 already on it.

They're skipping 4.2 on the One line because it was a "minor" update. I guess it wasn't too much trouble to just leapfrog it to 4.3 so they did.
