[Help] Changing to x920e White. NEED EAR PIECE! - HTC Droid DNA

I've found almost all the parts to change my DNA to white.
I've sent emails to companies, checked , aBay, Amazon and every vendor I can find on Google and I've had no luck.
The piece I need to find is the rectangular part over the Verizon Logo, I'll edit from my phone.

That's the piece! However if it's attached to the bezel shouldn't the white screen/LCD already have it in place?

center part
Some places call it a Midframe, other places call it a Bezel , if you want your DNA to be completely white you will need this. The part above the speaker is attached to the midframe housing. Also, look at your phone, inbetween the Glass and the Back cover the Bezel shows thru. If you do not get this, in between the back cover and the glass will be black.
EDIT:
OMG two more, it helps to know what your searching for I suppose;

I looked at the different videos on YouTube and they didn't remove that piece me more.

You think you could post a tutorial when you get all the parts? I am very interested in doing this as well to my phone

I'll give it a go. Whenever I take something apart I tend to take photos of the details to give it the best chance of going back together.
Looking for the best place to order the parts. I'll be ordering this weekend, hopefully, then 14 days from China more than likely.

Yeah hopefully... I have waited 2 months for an mhl cable from China once and have told myself that I will never again (at least from Amazon) order from China

I can't wait to see your results. I'm a bit afraid to pry open this phone as it's so well held together and without the glue / gaskets I fear I'll never quite get it back together the same. DNAs are pretty rare out there, and white DNA would be awesome.

Ya I don't think HTC can even repair this phone properly. I've had two replacements now and they are refurbs as Verizon is cheap. As I press around the sides and the back the phone crackles a bit, as if popping something into place. This never stops though. Kinda irritating, at least for me.

Money Is being a PITA this month and I wanted to try to get all the parts from one retailer, (Spoiler: Nope).
Also been trying to find a white screen and frame assembly, (Spoiler: Nope).
These sellers are also HORRIBLE at answering email. The only one I found who was helpful, before I knew, white was doable, only sells the black screen.
I'll get the tutorial up but it's just taking time. After taking some incredibly awesome photos with the DNA recently and with 4.3 coming I don't see a need to change devices.

Yeah I cant wait for 4.3 and sense 5 for the DNA. I'm sure we will see the dump for it on here since I have OTAs blocked. I've considered going to a different device a ton of times but never did it cause the DNA is still great. Best phone I've used.

Good times for the DNA. Official 4.3 and sense meaning kernel source. I want the MotoX but I'm living Sense 5 more than I thought and ice almost perfected getting good camera shots.

besides Dev support the Note2 had nothing better than the DNA. My wife has one, I used it a week before sending it back for replacement. The screen isn't as sharp. The Exynos is slower, the camera isn't as good.
You're better off with the DNA.

You should post some pics of the end result. It would be very interesting to see what it will look like in the end.
Also, what is the total price of all the replacement parts? I might even be interested in making to transformation to my Dna as well.

F*** Me. I broke my new glass. Dang it. Well I need to get more white parts anyhow. Thinking about this more, I realized I haven't seen any white SIM trays or white usb covers. SIM tray needs to be x920e/DNA but I suppose the usb cover could be any butterfly variant. Have you seen these two parts around on white(or anything but black) ?

All the parts, except screen adhesive, can be bought from parts4repair.com and the total price of about $155 seems inline with others.
@thehoovie I doubt we'll see a white sim tray for the reason you mentioned.
Not finding a white flap is a bit of a mystery though. I haven't found one.

Got IT!!!!!

So I got the ruby today...just a little feedback.
I upgraded from the Glacier, and I was running the darkside 1.5 ROM with sense 3.5. And to be honest, I liked the Glacier better. The Amaze is just like an over grown Glacier and is a bit laggy. They changed the charge port, and at the bottom of the screen where the touch buttons are, it glows white on the screen, say like inside of settings where the backscreen is black. I'll Give more info with the more I use it. So far wish I would of kept the Glacier. Nice Camera and screen though, besides the 'white' issue.
You really might have a defective unit then because in the week I've been using mine I haven't caught even a moment of lag. This is by far the quickest and snappiest phone I've ever used.

Well pretty much any brand new phone with a dual core 1.5 ghz processor should not be lagging at all. Definitely not more than something as outdated as the mt4g.

Exact same with mine. I'm so disappointed. I was looking so forward to this phone. I took the first one back thinking it was a fluke. Second one was the same. Even the display unit had it. The girl who was helping me thought I was crazy until I showed her by blocking the light with my hand. On any black screen when the buttons are lit, it bleeds up into the main screen. I went through three of them, and then gave up, and just got my money back. I want this phone, but I hope HTC fixes that first.
I have the lights at the bottom of the screen issue also. Looks pretty crappy sometimes

Oh and all of them did have a bit lag too. Here I thought it was such an upgrade from all my current phones (Nexus One, Desire HD, Defy), but really I'm back on the Desire HD, and loving it.

I would also like to see this as I am in less than an hour headed to pick this thing up....
I'm pretty suprised because mine is flawless. No screen issues, dust, lag or anything else like that and I'm coming from a sensation. This phone is everything I hoped it would be and I have no complaints. If anything I would expect kind to have more of the issues as it is a store demo model so probably one of the earliest manufactured.

A little late for you, TurboBoxer, but it does look like the light from the buttons at the bottom isn't well-blocked from the screen. I took some pictures with my Nexus S, but I can't post an actual link because I'm new. You can see the bleeding light at the bottom, though. Here's a link to the album:

Agreed. It's pretty noticeable, and while it doesn't bug me that much, it shouldn't be happening. My Nexus S has similar buttons/lighting at the bottom, with absolutely zero light bleed. It'd be nice if I could exchange this guy for one that doesn't bleed.
Edit: Added comparison shots of my Nexus S to the album (not) linked above.

You'll pay 600 dollars for a phone off contract? Are you on pills? I paid just over that for my computer. I thought they made phones off contract that expensive so people don't try to buy them.
Not necessary everyone buys phone on contract, majority in US buys I know... some people have money to buy off contract prices, some like trying new phones so they sell their existing phone, add some money and buy the new one off contract. Also there are lots of countries where phones are not sold subsidized.

I've done that a lot. Buy latest phone with upgrade (~200)....6 months later, sell on ebay for 375-400. Get newest phone off contract and pay difference (~200)...as long as you stay on top of the latest and greatest its not hard to essentially get each phone at upgrade pricing when you factor in the sale of the previous phone.
I went from 9800 bold > HD2 > aria> captivate > streak 5 > atrix > amaze and have never paid more than 100 out of pocket for the next phone

at least for me, i always have tried to sell it just as the newest one i want comes out. Its typically within 6-8 months of the release of the original device. Sometimes i'll just peruse ebay and see the prices, and then when i notice they start to go down i'll see what phones are out at that time so i get out of my current device before taking too great of a hit.
for example, the girl and I just sold her droid 2 for 200 bucks and my atrix for 280 on craigslist in one day, and since our contracts were up we went to tmobile and got these for little out of pocket since it was a new contract
I paid for mine cash, and to be honest....worst investment ever. Im not happy with the battery life, the screen issue, speaker is mediocre, my old hd2 was alot better than this phone. Its not about outdated, its about a good sturdy practical device.

2 visible white dot on the bottom of the lcd screen

-sigh- almost 4 weeks of ownership and already having an issue. I just noticed these 2 highly visible white dots (to the left) just above of the capacitive buttons on my lcd. Only visible on white background though but i call tmo and instructed me to get to a local store so they can have one of the reps to look at it before replacement (awesome). I'll take a pic of it later prior to visiting the store.
sorry for the image quality but here it is. I tried taking a few shots of and this happened to be the best shot. What do you guys think caused this?

yeah its those 2 highly visible glares or dot when you look really close to it.. i've taken it using my digital camera (which obviously takes crappy image btw) and although it may be hard to see by others on the monitor - it is really visible in person. I'm still a little confused as to how this developed.

it's been taken care of and the replacement device is on its way... thankfully it was still covered by warranty. Not sure why it wouldn't be since i just got the phone 4 weeks ago lol
which leads me to my next question.... In regards to warranty that is. Is it worth it to add a PHP (Premium Handset Protection) bundle? I mean, i remember when it used to be $5.99 (i believe) and i just noticed after ordering a replacement device - Tmo added that feature on my plan. Current cost is $7.99 which is still not bad but is it really worth it shelling out 8 bucks for something that can be prevented? I'm pretty anal when it comes to protecting my device (thanks to protective TPU case) and i hardly drop it by accident. However, "****" does happen to anyone when you least expect it. What do you guys think?
It can be worth it in case something happens like theft or out of warranty. But generally they offer you crap and try to say it's comparable.
Did they say you still have option for insurance? Generally unless you get it when the phone was new you can't add it on later

That's what i'm thinking but no, the rep never said anything or made any suggestions as far as adding it on my plan. I check my account frequently and that was the only time i discovered that it was added the day the replacement transaction was made. However, she did mention that even though my device was still covered by warranty, i was charged with $20 for device exchange since i didn't have the PHP feature added to my plan versus $5 bucks if i had it. -shrugs- eh its whatever. Atleast i know i'll have a brand spanking new device in a couple of days and HOPEFULLY.. yes.. hopefully... the annoying screen bleed on the bottom (normal build issue) with the device won't have it. lol
i just started a 2 year with tmobile and got the amaze for free. im wondering if this was a bad idea. i dont like the one phone because it lacks a dedicated camera button and some other stuff I dont like about it (its too thin actually). worst case I cancel for 200 and use this phone on straight talk until a better phone comes out I can start a new 2 year with.

that's a good point too... I too recently just switched from Individual plan to family plan (even though I'm the only one who's truly going to be using both devices) because i wanted this device (amaze) ever since its debut. Not a fan of One series either because of.. well.. a few things that i've come to expect on a high end device which lacks of... availability to expand storage, option to pull battery, dedicated cam shutter. To stay on point - isn't there a policy or something that after you cancelled your service there's a 1-3 month waiting period again before you can sign up???.. -shrugs-

AT&T picky about warranty exchanges?

Hey guys,
I've had this one since release and had to do sober the phone warranty exchange due to degrading battery
I have a skid mark on thebottom right coroner. Yes, it's on top of the corner just smoothed it out or rounded it a bit. I was wondering if this will get a $690 fee imposed.
It's also S-Off.
Against company policy, instead of giving me silver like my current phone she asked which one I wanted and i said black.
Would they impose a fee for this, if so can I get it overturned?
I was thinking I would RUU it and I'd be fine.
Anyone who's been thorough this or heard of it let me know. Thanks.

Not sure about the skid mark on the bottom corner but my original black one had issues with freezing randomly so when I called for an exchange they had none in stock so they shipped me a silver one. This was over 3 months ago and they haven't charged me anything even though the color change is against company policy but as long as they initiate it you shouldn't have an issue. However not sure what they will say about the skid mark and say that is physical damage.
I replaced mine for a bad speaker. They asked if any cosmetic damage, mine had none at the time except a small scratch on the power button/IR window. I know they are inspected when returned, but have no idea how picky they will be or how good that "inspection" really is. Probably depends on the inspector you get that day. :fingers-crossed:
Question: Mine is rooted, running a leaked ATT ROM and when you boot it, the red warning pops up from HTC. Would that be an issue for a warranty replacement? How would I rectify that?
Relock the bootloader and flash it with an RUU and you'll be fine.
Is there a guide anywhere for doing so?
fastboot oem lock, run RUU from HTC, done. A lot of people get it wrong, you are not "flashing' a RUU, the RUU is a "Rom Update Utility" stand alone package.
Just an FYI. If your doing a warranty exchange and they transfer to the warranty dept. They will make you download an apk for you to install. This apk let's them look at your system. It first freaked me out cause I was on a full convert GPe. But they didn't say anything about it and went ahead with the exchange. Still a little bit unnerving when they say "please download the apk with the link I'm sending. This will allow me to take a look at your system except for videos or pictures"

Warranty Replacement Woes
I called up the warranty department to get my phone replaced, due to the camera. They did the same ninja snoop APK file (which I still have) but I was smart and put the bootloader/firmware back to out of box state, so I wasn't worried. Weird, though. I don't know what they wanted by doing that.
Anyway, I got the replacement unit in 2 days, which was nice. The warranty department said I won't be able to tell the difference between a new phone and a "Certified reconditioned" phone. PSSH...
The screen of the replacement model wasn't as bright and had a yellowish cast to it, compared to my other phone, which I was not happy with. The top speaker also crackled when you play any sound through it. I called them back and they are now sending me yet another one. It's nice that they are trying, but I'm not going to trade one problem for another.
The one they did send out to me had a night/day difference with the camera though. I held both of them up to take a picture of my Christmas tree. Side by side, the screen of my old one was purple and the new one was nice.
I just wish I can get this whole thing sorted out

The screen of the replacement model wasn't as bright and had a yellowish cast to it, compared to my other phone, which I was not happy with. The top speaker also crackled when you play any sound through it. I called them back and they are now sending me yet another one. It's nice that they are trying, but I'm not going to trade one problem for another.

I had a similar experience at my local Device Support Center location. The "like-new" refurbished phone they wanted to give me had chips and dents in one corner of the bumper/aluminum bezel, over a dozen swirled scratches in the screen, and two very deep scratches in the screen that clearly made it to the digitizer. The polyurethane bumper was also really greasy and worn out. It was conveniently the only one they had in stock. Now that I think about it, I'm pretty offended that they tried to pawn it off on me.

Oh man...Yeah, nothing like that with this one. I mean, cosmetically, the replacement was better than mine!! I had a GAP-GATE phone, but just dealt with it because whatever. The screen and the audio would have bothered me more than a defective camera.
Got replacement no. 2 from FedEx...it's worse than my current model! Third time is the charm, I hope. Their standards suck! I seriously put the three phones side by side on full brightness and each display was seriously a different color. Wtf...my original has a blue cast to it, replacement 1 was yellow, and replacement 2 was purple.

Sorry to hear that. There's a thread somewhere in the HTC One subforum (non-AT&T forum) that talks about the three different screens used in the phone based on its manufacture plant; it sounds like you've had a go at all three.
I too am now having a replacement One shipped to me via AT&T. I'm praying it shows up problem-free, but after the ridiculousness of the Device Support Center trying to give me a replacement that looked as if it fell off the roof of a moving car, I'm not holding my breath.
Oh! They had me run the "snoop APK" as well... except it kept crashing on my One. I'm not sure if I should suspect the fact that I was running the official GPe RUU upgraded OTA to 4.4 or not. Thankfully, the guy I was talking to was a nice guy, and after 4 or 5 attempts to run the APK without crashing, he went ahead and pushed the warranty claim anyway.
I wouldn't recommend anyone else trying to use this "excuse" though, since he could tell I was legitimately trying to launch the app each time. It would just crash during authentication, after he had made a connection to my device.

Finally was able get the Att remote apk. G/f confirmed that the rep knew she was running a custom ROM. If your still interested, I'll post the apk after I get out of this meeting.
edit: don't know what it's good for, but pm me if you would like it.

Joining the G2 ranks!

I've been on my HTC Rezound since late November 2011. It's literally the longest I've ever had a phone, and I wouldn't be changing if mine wasn't starting to really give up the ghost. Within the past two weeks, Bluetooth quit working, it began boot looping, soft keys are becoming unresponsive, etc. Nevermind the battery life issues that have constantly plagued the phone.
So I started researching and not wanting to pay full price for a phone, I know I'm going to be giving up my unlimited data. No biggie, don't use more than 1-2 gigs a month anyway. So I looked at the most obvious options:
SGS4
HTC One
LG G2
The HTC, for as much of a beauty as it is, was almost an instant out. I don't like Sense, and I felt the battery in the phone was undersized. It's other disqualifying factor was what I felt was a smallish screen. So I was down to the SGS4 or the G2. Played with both in store, and the G2 blew me away with how much more responsive it was, brighter sharper screen, and the knock knock feature I fell in love with.
Thought I was going to have to wait a couple three weeks for taxes to roll in, but Verizon ran a special Saturday night on their website for the G2 for free. Couldn't help myself Picking it up on sunday, in white.
First plan -- Debloat. I hate factory and carrier installed bloatware.
Second Plan -- Pop the back plate and White Carbon Fiber Di-Noc from 3M.
Third plan -- enjoy profusely.
Nice choice, you will love it!!!

Whas in same position as u. Ran a sensation xe. Only reason I baugt a new was because I cracked the screen after 2yeara. I really loved sense. HTC one was my first choice then I saw this phone for 100$ less and everything seemed beter.
I don't miss sense and I don't think I ever whill. Only downside whit this phone is the camera. But it has so many other god things so don't mind.
Don't even have to change rom. Just root and install xposee and greenify
Welcome, you will love your g2

Yeah, I don't think I plan to change roms. I'm not a flash addict. I did it to my rezound because Verizon had that phone so jacked up with bloat it could hardly function. This one I'm hoping to root (today) debloat, check out the modules and see what they offer, and enjoy.
I got it for $10 after it was all said and done. I was pretty perturbed with Verizon for charging a $30 upgrade fee. I've NEVER paid an upgrade fee unless I was doing an early upgrade. I called them and griped this morning, they're giving me $20 of it back as a statement credit. $10? I accept that.
Can you post a link of the carbon fiber?

Just check ebay for white 3m Di-Noc and it'll come up. I think what I'm going to do is get a spare back panel, cover it, and then get a very thin hard case and cover that. I get the dropsies now and then and would rather have a TPU type case over the phone to protect the corners.
So I have my new phone but I'm disgruntled already. Irritated is more like it. Not at the phone, I'm happy to have it, but I'm avoiding messing with it right now. Flipping Verizon FORCED me to activate it on the spot in the store. I was like "What? Why?" and couldn't get a straight answer. That put me in a bind because I hadn't backed up my Rezound stuff yet, my wifi doesn't work, and now I'm kind of pinched because I have no data connection either. I wanted to simply email backups around and continue using it until I had the G2 ready to go, set up as I wanted it. Not the case now, which is why I'm so irritated. I even asked about reactivating my Rez and he said I can, but I'd have to bring hte G2 back into the store to have a new Sim card put in because you can only activate it's sim card once. Seriously?
Am I the only one that would be bugged by actions like this? I simply wanted to walk in, pick up my phone, take it home, set it up to MY preferences, then activate it, and I can't even do that now.
Called Verizon customer service and straightened everything out. All is well, I'm running my Rezound right now and slowly setting the G2 up.
Ordered Zagg HD Screen Protector, Incipio Feather case, generic ebay Rubberized two piece case, and 1sq of white 3M Di-Noc carbon fiber vinyl. Now I wait.........and in the interim, on to the rooting. I will have it rooted by midnight and starting the app removal process. So much freaking junk!

I said I didn't care to ROM mine either but you really should take a peek at the Flex ROM thread. I really enjoy it over stock. I believe it is titled Flex ROM 1.4.2 if you decide your interested. Enjoy your new G2!!!

I'll take a peek. I really like most of the embedded LG features (so much nicer than HTC's Sense stuff IMO) so if it doesn't give that or anything else up, worth a look I guess.
ROOTED! That was probably the easiest root I've ever completed. Ok, so I've only done 3. OG Droid, HTC Rezound (that phone was a disaster for support), and this.
And I'm becoming more and more enthralled with the phone already. Wireless data transfer thingy with my computer works like a champ. Actually has a settable quiet mode so I don't get notifications between hours I set. And so much other stuff. Just amazing how far these have progressed in 2 1/4 years since I got my Rez.

G3 on Verizon...logo on front again??? :,(

There haven't been any leaks or info specific to the Verizon version yet, but do you think Verizon will be the only carrier on Earth again to force their awful logo on the upper front bezel again...misaligned and horrible looking? This would, even moreso than the G2, ruin a beautiful phone. I will be very upset as I am planning on buying it.
Not to mention, will they change the back pattern/look or rear buttons again? So far, there have been a few Amazon case leaks supposedly with all carrier versions fitting the same case...so hopefully the buttons will not change this time. But no guarantees on anything
I'm really hoping it's exactly the same as the others this time.
Remember the Verizon logo on the note 2, I almost vomited blood

but there is very little bezel real estate for them to put a logo on, the most possible place is the bottom, but that will touch the LG logo.
They will just watermark it on the actual screen this time around.
I don't know where they can put a logo on in the front, there's no room. They certainly can't touch the LG logo at the bottom. Perhaps it will be like my S4 where it just says OEM name on the front and the "Verizon 4GLTE" branding on the back. I'm okay with that as long as it doesn't take up 1/2 the back.
I hadn't even noticed the VZW logo on the front of my G2 until the OP mentioned it.

U serious? Lol. Its the most obvious and ugly thing a phone could have. Just compare to any other G2 version. How can they ruin the beautiful seamless, black front..aside from the LG logo which looks fine.

If a vzw logo is the worst thing about the G3, I think I can handle it. I'm trying to work up a "give a ****" about it. Can't.
I see an empty space on the top right..... I can see Verizon logo there again.... I am already expecting It just hoping it has one of those same day announcement deal

My Verizon GNex had the logo on the back. It was on the battery door. Hopefully they will go that route.
There isn't really any place for it on the front... I'd be fine with it on the back though

This falls squarely in my 'who really cares' category. If it bothers you that much, don't buy the phone. Good grief.
I mean, OMG! It says LG on the front, too. How gross!

I'm kind of in agreement to this. Sure, I'd prefer it to not be there, but I'm looking at my screen - not the bezels. Although I did cringe a bit with the Verizon icon on the Galaxy Note home button.
I think it's rediculous to have branding on the front of the phone, directly in our faces as a constant. Not only is it an annoyance but it feels the phone falls under the flagship category and in with the other no names. Sammy or Apple flagships will never get caught with one in the front.
Did any of you notice the vzw variant doesn't carry the new signature 2 tone face?
It just looks like a g2 with a fancy back now. Pretty pissed as this was going to be my go to.

The Galaxy Note 3 (or 2) had the Verizon branding on the front button. And instead of having it in a physical location, Verizon decided to add their logo to the Status Bar of the iPhone. I don't see the phone of any lesser value with an additional Logo on the front. You don't even look at that part of the device.

Not necessarily, the GS4, GS5, Note 3, MotoX, and all of Apple does Not have the branding on the front bezel. I understand when you use the phone, vzw wants to show their logo on the back so people can see it. I don't see any reason for them to constantly shine it in our faces on the front. It's BS that they would squeeze in into the tiniest bezel. It just screws up the design and gives the optical illusion that it's larger. G3 owners should receive a discount for advertising! I wouldn't want dealership stickers all over my car as much as my damn phone. Slick wraps will have to cover it in any case.

Exactly, forget the nasty cow branding. Them screwing with the design (again) is what really is pissing me off. The designer made a work of art and here comes verizon big **** swinging having to put on their beret and modifying it. I'm thinking on taking tmobiles offer and letting them buy me out.
