Xperia Z Ultra Screen Protector - Sony Xperia Z Ultra

I ordered XtremeGuard ZU Screen protector, and it is horrible after installing it. it sticks to paper, and the touch screen sometimes now has become unresponsive after applying it. I wouldn't recommend it to y'all. Is there any other good companies out there that make clear/transparent screen protector for ZU?

I purchased this one, it's very good:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/171093978368?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649

Despite the fact that it takes a little bit away from the perceived image quality of my screen, I am personally using a matte screen protector on my xzu. I prefer the finish and it looks quite a bit better in sunshine. There's no reflection or unreasonable glare.

I ordered a Clarivue screen protector, the anti-glare one, a few days back and now waiting for it to arrive.
I looked high and low for a good matte protector and finally settled on this. I haven't tried them before so my decision is based more on their reputation more than anything. The price is reasonable for a front + back set, and they are confident enough to offer lifetime warranty. Will let you guys know how it turns out. :fingers-crossed:
They also gave me a discount code that will expire on 31st Dec 2013: http://clarivue.refr.cc/NP8TV3B
Feel free to use it for 10% discount on all items. Cheers.

Where did you get the XG ZU protector? I can't find it on their site.
I've used XG since forever. It's a bit sticky but I haven't found a screen protector that adheres as nicely and for as long.

There seems to be quite a few different brands of screen protectors/full body protection kits out there.
Supershieldz has one
XtremeGuard (I presume it is this one you bought) has one
Skinomi is another one. This one actually looks interesting as it comes with the spray solution too and all professionally boxed up. Anyone have experience using this brand before?
GreatShield is also another one with supposedly lifetime warranty.
And then there's the generic DealExtreme one. Not sure who the manufacturer is.
Doesn't our Sony Xperia Z Ultra already have a screen protector applied (on the front at least)? I presume it would affect sensitivity if you applied another one on top.

I hope mine doesn't did you contact seller? Oh and does anyone have a back "screen" protecter. I want my phone to be nice and protected.

you should directly contact to customer support of ebay and discuss the issue and just told them to resolve it ASAP otherwise ask them for refund

I contacted the seller... They shipped out a new one. Just have to wait another 10 days...

Does anyone use a screen protector?

I just ordered my HTC One and am looking for a screen protector.
1) Do you guys think the gorilla glass 2 will hold up on scratches?
2) I'm thinking about playing it safe, so for those of you who have a screen protector, which one would you recommend? SGP?

I decided to get one after seeing my wife's DNA screen get scratched by her keys in her purse. What's up with that, gorilla glass 2? I bought a 3-pack of Lumii Ark protectors for $.99 (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00BL5N0X2/ref=oh_details_o01_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1). Just arrived yesterday, haven't applied one yet.
Also thinking about getting a Poetic or Nillkin case to shield that beautiful aluminum (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2171713)
For what it's worth, the aluminum looks plenty capable of buffing out some reasonable scratches. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K0kel2d3xGQ&feature=youtu.be
Personally, I'm not using a screen protector but I keep my phone in a sleeve type case from Krusell when it's not in use so that does the trick.
I use cases and screen protectors on all of my devices. My HTC One never saw the light of day before the screen protector went on it. I'm a little OCD like that though.

This may only be my experience but I found that the capacitive buttons weren't nearly sensitive and had trouble hitting home+back with an invisible shield (which covers the capacitive buttons). I ended up cutting away the excess which covered the buttons and have seen a huge improvement.
I bought the skinomi full body, but only used it for the back because I didn't like the feel on the front with it, and its not so clear.. but now I have the skinomi on the back, sides, and speaker grill, and a fosmon ultra clear on the front.. the fosmon is a lot better than the skinomi and is very very clear.. I cant even tell that there is a screen protector there..
Ps if you decide to get the skinomi, I used the coupon code 'earthday2013' , and got 60% off of the full body, so it was only $8.. if that coupon doesn't work anymore, there is one for 25% off which is 'get25'

I went to three at&t stores yesterday and they all told me they only carry the invisible shield dry for $30!!! I was a little skeptical, but with my luck my One would never stay in it's prestine condition without some kind of protector, so I got it. I have to say it is much better than others give it credit for; it's far greater than all of the "cheapy" screen protectors when it comes to look and feel, lifetime warranty when you register it, and I feel much better knowing that my device won't look like my buddy's horrific note II whose been naked since he purchased it because he bought into all the hype that the gorilla glass II is so incredibly scratch resistant!

Yes it does come with a back protector but it isn't nano glass. No idea about second question.

The main difference is that it's quite a bit slimmer, but on the flip side, it's a lot more expensive.

I usually don't go for the 'high quality' expensive protectors from past experience, ones i have bought that are 'high quality' with high price tags still get scratches. i just stick to the lower end or average and change it every couple of months when necessary. the place i bought the phone helped me stuck on the front and back for free and it's good enough quality for me

Should I use screen protectors on LG G Watch?
Sure you should, look at your old watches, smart or not, they always have scratches.

Thanks I also order by amazon the screen protection
I was looking at a Skinomi TechSkin
I don't have one on my Pebble and its good shape. Minor scratches but notching intrusive.
$10 for spigen but they proven to me they last a long time. Rarely need to replace on my phones. As far other watches I bop them on stuff all the time but they have decent scratch resistance as well.
If it gets annoying I'll go without but I got a pack coming.
Has it a Gorila Glass screen?

Same here, on both my N5 and my M8 I have glass screen protectors..I dropped my M8 once and it SHATTERED the screen protector(I mean shattered...very hard to see the screen) but not a scratch on the screen, it also had a case on, so with the combo of the two, what would have made me need a new phone, it looks brand new still

I went through 2 glass screen protectors on my s4. one had been applied badly and had junk stuck under it despite my best attempt, didn't seat correctly and started pulling loose eventually cracked. Last one was great for a long while... chipped along the edge thanks to something in my pocket. tried to baby it.. eventually cracked being flexed in my pocket.
Guess I didn't have good luck. On a watch for me probably wouldn't last a week.
Edit: just realized they won't be to me for another week thanks to slow poke mail, trying to be cheap.
I'm not even gonna lie. I will be going budget or DIY on this one. I have about 8 extra screen protectors from previous phones so I'm going to attempt cutting them to size of the g watch until the glass ones are available.

same here. i ordered the spigen ones (3x) but im not really impressed. so instead I now took a spare protector for my n5 from mumbi and cut it myself. It doesn't look any worse than the edges from the spigen one and it's a really good screen protector
This stuff right here: http://www.amazon.com/bIONic-Shield-Liquid-Screen-Protector/dp/B00HZDOQIC
bIONic Shield liquid protector. I've been using this on my HTC One and my Nexus tab, and it's the real deal. Can't scratch your screen with a key, knife, etc. The rest of my phone's case is banged up, but the screen is flawless.

I am using that one for 3 days now and I can only say I am very disappointed. You won't leave fingerprints, but smudges still appear all the time, its even worse than without the protector. What I did now was to take a spare screen protector for my Nexus 5 from Anker and cut it to the size of the watch-display. Looks almost as good as the Spigen one but it is very resistant to smudges. I almost never have any resedue apart from dust. I can't recommend the Spigen screen protector because of this.

They do smudge quite a bit. Not sure what else to do about it though doesn't affect indoors as much as out.
I do notice that the smudges aren't oily colored smudges like I did without so there is a slight difference. No worse than any other clear protectors on any other devices. Matte ones would help a bit but still doesn't look as nice.

LG G3 Screen Protector

Just got my G3 from Best Buy on Sunday and this phone is pretty impressive. I always like to get a screen protector as soon as the phone comes out of the box. I bought the Zagg Invisible Shield Tempered Glass screen protector and it is pretty awesome. Don't have to worry about the orange peel that is on their regular screen protectors and the clarity is really good. Check it out.

I also scratched my screen on the very first day. I am not sure how I scratched it but its there. So in a case of closing the barn after the horse ran off I bought a tempered glass screen protector from Amazon ( http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00KGSW734/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1) Price wise it was 9 dollars but I really liked and and best of all is that it has a life time replacement warranty.
Now about the actual glass its not too thick and though it does slightly protrude a bit you don't really notice unless your really looking for it. The shape is perfect and fits exactly as it should reaching the edges exactly.
Now for the scratch proof test, Since it did have a lifetime warranty I said screw it and took a knife to it. I really did try to scratch it and I wasn't successful. I thought those advertisement pics and videos were bull$hit but it really didn't scratch.
Anyway all in all I am happy with my purchase and would recommend it to anyone who is looking for a nice screen protector and doesn't like the feel of the thin film/ membrane type ones.
That's really cool. I picked up my glass protector yesterday. The brand is body guardz. Purchase price was $39.99+tax. No life time warranty, but if you register you can grab replacement at 20% discount.

Interesting product. I scoffed at the idea of paying $40 for a screen protector, I've lived through all my smartphones on cheap Ebay films. They get scratched up over time, but by the time I even think I should replace it, the phone is over a year old anyway. I've never applied more than 2 over the life of a phone, and the one on my EVO 4G LTE is the one I applied on launch day. Even so, for this price I'd go for the glass protector. That micro-ridge you'd get would be covered by a case anyway, too.

Possibly, I guess it all depends on how big the scratch and how deep it is. Doesn't hurt to try and protect it from more scratches.

I used to get Bodyguardz but they didn't have the anti-glare for the G3, then I found iCarez on Amazon. It has better quality than Bodyguardz and comes with three protectors. Best of all, the price was $4.95.
I am very particular with my phone. My phone is naked except for the screen. I used to use Zagg on my HTC EVO 4G and Galaxy Nexus, then switched to Bodyguardz for my Nexus 5, but when I realized they didn't make the anti-glare for the G3 I was lost. Amazon saved me. Sometimes i dont even have everything come in that i order before i have traded or sold/bought another one. For this reason i usually get a 7-10$ ebay tempered glass protector. I love the glass ones. Oh, cool! Huh, I looked on SuperShieldz's website directly and at first I thought I found them but then I noticed it was for the XA1. I wonder if there's a chance it's fake - maybe someone repackaged a different brand into their packaging? Seems strange that it can be found there but not Amazon or from the manufacturer directly.

Supershieldz has it listed on their site now. Amazon now says they are being shipped by Supershieldz themselves as well so that assures to me it's the real deal on Amazon.

Edit: Ordered the Supershieldz, should receive it next week.
You don't need tempered glass on your phone, gorilla glass is much more stronger than any tempered glass. If you drop your phone with a tempered glass on and the tempered glass shatters, that doesn't mean gorrila glass would break without the screen protector. s8 breaks easily on the corners and sure it has gorrila glass 5 wich is 2x stronger than the 4 but the corners are curved a lot wich results in a less surface for the force to spread so all the force is stuck at that corner resulting in a crack.
xa2 and xa2 ultra don't have those really curved edges so you should be fine.
Btw if you really want one, get a curved tempered glass otherwise it won't spread all the way over the glass or it will not stick at the sides resulting in less visibility at those sides (experiences)
I am seeing a few more glass protectors on amazon but most have terrible ratings. Can anyone give a review of their experience with temp. Glass on this device?
Sidenote: Dave thanks for the info!

I am seeing a few more glass protectors on amazon but most have terrible ratings. Can anyone give a review of their experience with temp. Glass on this device?
Sidenote: Dave thanks for the info!

I haven't put my Supershieldz yet on because I was waiting to get a case, and I had accidentally ordered a case for the non-Ultra XA2. Was able to return it but I'm waiting until I have $25 more I want to buy from Amazon before ordering the right cheap case.
I read in a couple of places that some of the glass protectors have only rim of adhesive securing the temp. glass to the phone. This has stopped my quest so far.
Yesterday I picked up a "Kristall Nano protector" this is one of those liquid protectors claiming a "Hardness 9 H". One of the employees at conrad showed me that hes using this currently. The screen felt like glass and looked perfect. 100% clarity w. No rainbow effect etc. It doesnt replace the strength of a glass protector but for now will help prevent scratches.
I had another idea for those feeling adventurous... why not use this nano stuff as the adhesive for the other protectors.
I assume that this will increase the protection level and fill the airgaps.

My experience with ultra screen protectors
First of all, let me say that the assumption that the gorilla glass itself is scratch resistant is just not true in reality, no matter what Sony claims. From my first tablet z all the way to this new xa2 ultra, all of my Sony phones collected visible scratches without a screen protector. Just search YouTube to see for yourself how easily the screen of xa2 ultra gets scratched by simple contact with keys and coins.
When I got my ultra XA two years ago I searched for a good screen protector and the best I could find was a tempered glass which left about 2 mm unprotected on each side of the screen. That's where the curvature of the LCD glass on XA ultra starts. Also I found a "curved" screen protector for XA which was really a piece of hardened plastic (not tempered glass) bent on the sides and it only had adhesive around the edges. So despite the fact that it covered the whole LCD, because there was no adhesive under The Protector, there was an air gap everywhere between the protector and the glass which made the clarity quite low.
The situation for xa2 ultra is even worse because the actual curvature of the LCD starts about one centimeter from the edges. So no flat protector including the ones with the 2 millimeter gap on the sides will properly adhere to the glass. I tried one that I ordered on eBay and as you can see in the picture there are major strips of air gaps on both sides. I haven't tried any curved protectors yet so it would be nice if someone who has used them comments here. I have ordered film screen protectors which I should receive soon. And because they're not rigid I'm hoping they will naturally stick to the sides of the screen. I will post pictures here once I receive them.
Update: I received the film screen protectors. The situation is similar to the tempered glass, albeit no as bad: it still leaves about 2 mm unprotected on each side, and the air gaps are still there but they are only about 2mm in width.
Summary: I am yet to find a proper full LCD protector for this phone.

Actually a small update. I've found out that I've actually lost it! I don't know when I don't know how and why.
Now I've got a ****ty tiny plastic protector. Couldn't find anything reliable.

Hello All!
Did anyone find good solution for screen protection:
- cover the whole LCD
- good contact with screen (no air)
- reliable enough
?
