Connection problem in other cities - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi to all,
i have a problem, maybe you can help me. My Phones is Star S7589 quad core.
I have a dual sim smartphone. I installed many custom roms and i have still same problem.
My problem : In my city sim 1 have connection and internet too. I can call, the people can reach me.
If i drive to another city, i don`t have any connection. Noone can reach me, i can not call someone. It shows full strength connection, but no way to connect to internet or call someone. My Sim 2 is working really fine.
I did not test my sim 1 at sim 2 slot. Maybe next time if i am in other city, i shall test it.
Does anyone know this symptoms?
What can it be? i checked the apn files and could not any differences.
Thank you very much
Regards,
Mad

Can anyone help? - No Signal

Hi folks, can anyone please help me with this problem?
My brother in law has asked me to look at his S740. He has tried several o2 SIM cards (UK) in this phone but always gets told there is no signal.
Not only that, but there is a symbol where the strength meter should be that isn't documented in the user guide.
He has also tried my o2 (3G) sim and a Vodafone sim, both UK.
Any advice gratefully recieved. We have tried several hard resets also.
Thanks
This means it's looking for signal. My guess: Still SIM-locked?
.-ombre-.

Not sure if it's SIM locked as there is a menu to select which carrier to use.
It reads the SIM correctly and sets it all up for o2, but just doesnt get any signal.
Does anyone know where the GSM antenna is on these? Maybe its a bad connection.
UPDATE:
I've had a mail back from HTC that recommends I send it in for repair, lol.
Now do I take it they are robbing buggers or do I take it that the icon is an indicator of a hardware fault??
Hmmmm, dilemma. lol
Are there any more suggestions on what it may be?
Has anyone successfully taken one of these apart?
it may be because of a hardware error...try to connect to a wifi network...if it impossible to find a wifi network then it is due to a harware problem. Most likely because the FR coaxial cable is out of its possision...download the service manual and see how to fix it.

Hi sasiskas, it conects fine to my wireless network at home. I take it from your response that the cable serves a double purpose.
I downloaded the service manual so I could take a look, but only got as far as removing the 4 screws at the back. lol, I couldn't figure out how to get it off, lol
I'm still stuck at the assumption that it is indeed SIM locked, and so will try to find a suitable card to try out.

Try contacting with your phone's provider (shop,e-bay seller whoever it is) and ask him details about the sim.Good luck.

Thanks. I have tried the same but just keep getting a vender ID, (lol spelling), error.
I would appreciate any input whether you have success or not, it just may spark an idea off.
I cant get in touch with any sales or provider as it was gifted to my bro in law. He's not that bothered about it but would like to have it working if he can.
Thanks folks.
Hey! I think I know the solution to your problem...I had exactly the same problem when I hardReseted my phone.
Go to "Start-settings-Phone-Band Select"
and then select
1.Network type : Auto
2.Band Type : "Euro" if you live in Europe, "US" if you live in USA , or "Japan" if you live in Japan.
Good luck...Let us know if it worked!

Yes that is a good suggestion because the phone will display that icon if it can't find a *usable* network, be it that the SIM doesn't allow it or if the bands don't match the selection on the phone or the bands are not usable by the phone hardware etc.
I would suggest downloading & running HTC Field Test (fieldtest.exe) with & without a SIM installed, with each network & band setting & see if it shows any towers or signal. (Normally you want Auto for both but you may not have that option or you might prefer to set to a KNOWN working band to conserve battery & minimize searching) If should show something even without SIM or with SIM lock because it's supposed to support emergency calls either way. If it shows signals with SIM but you still have same no service icon then it's likely SIM locked (although the phone should alert you to that fact) so odds are the phone hardware, rom or settings do not support whatever signals are available to you. (Btw if field test shows N/A for all the values you need to app unlock your phone)
Hope that helps.
Bill
can you share a link with HTC Field Test?Thnx
Search is your friend.

Hey all I'm having a very similar problem.
Had my HTC for some months now but in the past few days I've found that my network signal is becoming very unpredictable.
I'm also on O2 and I used to have a pretty contstant H (I presume HSDPA) connection.
Howeever im finding now the phone with go from H to 3G to GPRS to E to no signal in the course of 5 mines and round and round again!
Its very annoying as it means I cant make / received calls or texts fluently and even cut me off on a phone call too.
However usually on phone calls it will keep me connected ok till I hang up and then go to no signal.
I've checked the wireless and it is picking up networks..
Any other suggestions? I will try the field test tomorrow...
PS I know its not the network as my work blackberry is O2 and is not having this issue..
Cheers in advance!
Well, just to close my input on this thread.
I tried various ROM's available from this site and none worked.
I did try the band selection settings but still a no go.
I did have limited success but overall, nothing. The phone has now gone back to the person who asked me to look into it and to my knowledge he is going to sell it to one of these phone reclaim companies.
I did check and one place, I think through the post office, is offering £80 ish so not bad I suppose.
Anyway, thank you to all who have made suggestions and wotnot. Personally I'm still happy with an old Nokia 6300 and my Wizard (Mini-S)
Thanks folks.

Check if your sim card is properly inserted.
Try cleaning your micro SIM by wiping it and then try to look for a good reception, the first time I cut my SIM into a micro SIM I had the same problem the problem lies in reception because I was inside a internet gaming cafe at the time. Remember to automatically choose your network on the settings.
Thanks ill try cleaning sim!

[Q] Samsung galaxy S duos2 - signal problem

Hi folks,
I bought the Samsung galaxy s duos2 GT-S7582, last week (sw 4.2.2). I wanted to associate my private and company sim cards into one device.
On the first sight it works properly. Until I lost signal from my provider. Both sims I used, are from the same mobile provider. At home it works properly, but in work where is a bit week signal I have a problem to reconnect, after I lost the signal. It seems to me that it doesn't reconnect automatically after I come to area where the signal is for sure, I can not even find any provider manually. I can not do and receive calls on both sims after that of course. Only think what will help is to restart the phone. After that it works properly again, until I lost signal on one of the card again.
I tried to replace the sim cards between them - doesn't help, replace one of the sim with my wife's one - same problem. I did several different settings regarding the connection, but nothing helps. I believe that this would be more-less sw problem, not the hw.
Did anybody face the similar problem? Have you any advices how to solve this issue?
Many thanks for reply.

help me on this ..no 3g but it can be plzzz

hey this is avi, I want ur help on this ...the problem is my phone is not getting 3g signals in both my personal airtel, idea sim ......I am a rooted device user and flashed many of roms, kernel, the stock rom from odin ...2years before I rooted my device and suddenly 3g goes wrong ..my phone fails to start caching 3g signals ..I tried so much but then give up in thought it is due to my device hardware as I tried diff. softwares .....now here comes the suspense I finally think of porting my airtel sim to idea due to thinking of low 3g networks there and the process starts ...in this time I pulled my mother's idea sim in my device's slot and surprisingly 3g networks r running well no ..emergency calls only I thanked the god for this that 3g came back and it was due to my airtel sim but few days later the sim I ported to idea behaves same as before the airtel... "emergency calls only" .."error while searching for networks" ..2g is working fine with my new sim ...so whats the problem in my device ....as I can run 3g on my mother's idea sim but not on my new sim ...troed vodafone, aircel, airtel no 3g ...only 3g in idea(only my mother's sim)bsnl(my fathers sim)...help me out of this as even there is no problem with my hardware too as(I can run 3g from my mothers sim) and softwaree tooooooo(I tried many roms but no good news just these 2 sims r working)then from where the problem is coming??????
plzzzz help me out of this ...

Divers Questions

Hello everyone.
I have one or two little questions about the phone. I have this phone since July and I would like asking about few f*cking issues. I have the H930DS with the Boombox ROM and have faced the same issues with the lastest 21* Official ROM.
SIM A France with Roaming ok - SIM B Switzerland. I live in Switzerland.
------------------------------- DATA SIM A - Calling with SIM B -----------------------------
-> no internet while calling
-> sms cannot be send with SIM B
-> poor signal with sim B, very oft no signal
------------------------------- DATA SIM B - Calling with SIM B -----------------------------
-> internet ok while calling
-> sms cannot be send with SIM A
-> Very good signal in SIM B, poor signal with sim A
My Problems with signal quality is also when I make no call. I don't understand why is so... Make no sens. I have oft the problem with no signal in SIM B and when I choose SIM B for Data, signal is automatically better....
Faced you this problems ?
Thanks you.
Anyone with other/previous Dual SIM devices can tell a same story ?
The most seldom Android devices have dsda (dual sim dual active), afaik the H930DS is dsds like many devices (dual sim dual standby)
https://gadgetstouse.com/news/dual-sim-dual-standby-and-dual-sim-dual-active/8985
That at least partially might be able to explain it,
also living at the border and roaming with 2 different country SIMs is supposed to be quite bothersome I read back some time.
No idea if it's supposed to have improved
Thanks, I had no idea about this active or standby mode. This is annoying... But that's explained not the problem with signal strength... I have no idea how is it possible.

what connection tech / speed are you using for each different SIM ?
if I remember correctly there was also an issue with only one SIM being capable of using 3G or LTE at a time and the other being limited to 2G (or similar)
so that could be one explanation of it.
Haven't looked into that kind of issue yet since I don't have a dual SIM device
