Revert back to stock after update - Xperia Tablet Z Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So like with my other Sony devices after updating to the latest and `greatest` firmware I really don't like it. I now have the 4.2.2 and want back to 4.1.2. The ui is that of a phone.
I have used flashtool in the past, but if anyone can help me out it wouldn't just be me, I will share on the Sony forums which are no help.
So stock 4.1.2 ROM!? For the xperia tablet z?
Thanks solo much really dislike the new ui
If in the wrong thread I apologise, can't navigate the site well

Ehh don't know of the top of my head. At work atm. Its the Xperia tablet z 32gb with wifi
I will appreciate any help. As good as a attractive brick atm
Thanks

I'm in the same boat.
While i have flashed countless roms on my china tablet and my nexus 4 i was also hoping there is an easier way but apparently we have to get the stock firmware and flash it with flash tool.
It was astounded how crappy 4.2.2 really is. How can they roll out such an uzpdate with the phone UI? It's ridiculous.
I made a similar thread here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2427256
Got some info but only the link to an us firmware wich is no good for me.
Anyone knows where to get Stock 4.1.2 for the 16 GB Wifi version?

If you're stuck, the 32GB WiFi only (312) ROM will work with the 16GB WiFi only (311) model.
I've successfully flashed a 312 Stock ROM (ftf) on my 311 with flashtool.
There are a few 4.1 (.344 & .370) ftf files posted in this forum for downloading.

I see that you use a custom rom 4.3 based. Is there any roms with a tablet UI like the original 4.1.2?

on pac rom you can choose if you wanna have the new ui or the tablet ui

Also with PAC you can chose to use the Pie navigation interface, so you can do away with the navigation and status/notification bars altogether.
I use the Pie interface on my phone and tablet. For me, Navigation/status bars are a waste of screen space.

This conversation is going off topic, so I'll just say have a read of the PAC and CM threads in this forum - they're not too long

So there doesnt seem to be a offical rom out there. Anyhow, i didnt give the update much chance, and infact im liking it. Other than the drop down bar, the device is faster and much smoother. The lock screen is sharp and im starting to find new features such as the mini apps - when dragging to the side minimizes it. But if a offical rom comes out im sure i will revert back. Thanks :laugh::laugh::laugh:

yes I would also be very interested, I just got my Newman nm890 android 4.1.2 and it has difficulty picking up a cell signal where my other cell phone gets a couple of bars. I am having difficulty with rooting it. I have been waiting for the 4.2 to be available but different from the sales ad, it does not seem to be readily coming. The previous reovery.img with the QR is it 4.1.2 or 4.2.1. It looks like the nm890 is popular.

You have a Developer Edition S4, you can flash just about any ROM you want on it...it has an unlocked bootloader. Not sure what recovery you have, but you'll need a custom recovery like TWRP (I recommend 2.5.0.2) or PhilZ. Either one of those can be found in this forum. The one thing you don't want to do is take an Over The Air Update from Verizon...or anywhere else for that matter. Your in good shape for flashing just about anything as long as you don't change/replace your bootloader. I haven't seen any ROMs on this forum that touches the bootloader. There are a number of good ROMs available. Just follow the Developer's installation instructions. If you're looking for a really good TW ROM I recommend trying Eclipse 3.0.

Here is a good thread for you to read. It probably answers a lot of your questions: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2578569
Just keep in mind there is no factory image for the dev edition Gs4, (each developer edition device supposedly has a slightly different aboot) this is why no ota updates from big red.
I dont know how to do it but get some advice on how to back up your factory firmware before going to far. If this is even possible without a custom recovery????
Don't make the mistake I made and get a soft brick and have to flash a consumer version of mdk. My bootloader is now locked but at least I am still mdk with custom recovery and flashing capability.

S3

hi guys,so after i bricked my phone i had to switch my motherboard in a repair store,so after repair,my S3 that was a i747,is now a gt-9300,so i have some questions, since its now a gt-9300 does my ram decrease since the i747 is 2GB an the GT-9300 is only one?does the GT-9300 have official 4.4 update?
Yes, it has 1GB of RAM. No, there is no official update to 4.4. However, you can easily get it with either a port posted here, or using an AOSP ROM. You can even put 5.0.2 on it if you want.

thank you, sorry, kinda of a noob question but, when i flash the 5.0.2 witch is lollipop, will it have the exact same interface as the official, and by flashing a rom,is there a chance of bricking my device?
No AOSP won't be even remotely similar and yes, anything you flash can brick it if you don't understand what you are doing.

Yes, they are similar because they are based on sammy roms with the touchwiz ui.
The article you posted is about arter's back-to-n00t rom which you can find here. I myself use it for 7 weeks now and it works flawlessly for me.

hi,i have read the thread but i saw something that worried me,after the thread about the rom,he wrote, known issues:SMS delivery reports are not working
Cannot charge while the phone is off
The sms thing doesnt realy bother me,but, cannot charge while the phone is off, does that mean that if your phones battery runs out and turns it self off your phone is dead?or did he already fixed that?

No, that just means that if you turn off your phone and plug a charger in it will boot up automatically while charging. That's all.
I'm not sure if it is fixed in the stock kernel, but it sure is in Boeffla kernel. I would suggest you use that.
For issues concerning SMS delivery, bluetooth or camera there are fixes available in the back-to-n00t thread. Just try it out. In any case read the threads in my sig carefully.

[Q] Where can I find the stock 5.0 upgrade to install using TWRP?

I have Android 4.2 installed on my Galaxy S4. Since I rooted my phone as soon as I got it, I never got any OTA updates beyond that. But now I hear that Android 5.0 (Lollipop) is out for my device, and I want to install it. But all I can find are custom ROMs, and I don't want to install one of those as then I'll have to do a factory reset, which I just did a few weeks ago and I'd rather not have to do all the setup again.
Can someone please point me to where I can find the stock ROM update downloads? I'd like to keep root access after flashing, so let me know if there's anything special I have to do for that.
Thank you!
AFAIK, it's not out yet for our phones.

I'd recommend this ROM, based on stock ROM with limited debloating and a few nice tweaks. There is a link in the first post to the completely stock ROM it is based on by Jkruse if you want that.

It does not have the hot spot toggle.

EDIT: Does anyone know how to mark this as resolved? I'm new here.
Posting this here in case anyone else is looking for the same thing and finds this thread: Lollipop is out now, and someone has posted what I originally asked for here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...ment/rom-i545oc1-5-0-1-100-stock-mdk-t3097902
I haven't tested it though; I'm waiting for one that's been modified in the same way as the one posted earlier in this thread. If anyone knows where I can find one, please post the link!

Modem and ROM versions, why are they different for this phone?

So I've been on a slim-stock rooted ROM (I believe this one) of OB1 variety (Lollipop 5.0) and figured why the hell not update to the newest 5.1.1 base since I've been back into phone stuff trying to get my dad's new T-Mo S4 all freshly rooted and updated .
I was thinking of installing this OJ4 (5.1.1) ROM but then noticed that the current modem/kernel/stock .tar files in this wonder thread here say NH4 is the newest version and there's no mention of neither OJ4 nor OB1...which made me have an utter "WTF" moment. Why doesn't that list have either of them on there? My phone's current baseband/moden is OB1, which is what one'd expect from a OB1 ROM without its modem separately updated...but why are NEITHER of them in that list??
Someone please tell me I'm not the only one who finds that downright strange or could help shed light on this mystery, thanks!
TL;DR= Trying to update to OJ4 (5.1.1) and not sure if I have to THEN update everything I can to NH4 after the fact.
