Its a good update in my opinion...

I wouldn't mind changelog seeing as i went from .475 to .510 to .526 all in one day.
If you are already rooted and bootloader unlocked, will the update cause issues?

Gave it a try. Won't work on the rooted phone. I was waiting for CM to release. What is different about this update other than display quality?

Does flashing with flashtool automatically wipe the device?

Definitely is more snappy, unfortunately I don't like the washed out screen with the optimized backlight... If I switch it off and I leave it like that the phone takes forever to boot (seems to be hanged...) :thumbdown:

I love the new update 526 colors are beautiful. I also love the new ui, it almost feels like a whole new device. But I'm still getting the LTE version when it's released.

What a roller coaster ride of a day, took the plunge rooted and updated to .510 from .475 only to receive another update to .526, happy!!!!!!
Since 526 i get the SOD everytime i leave the phone.
Ive never had the bug before, not even on 510

yo my man install sony update service. (It will delete your old crap and it will flash new base on "clean" phone)
and it will be perfect !!! trust me.

The white color is more white now.
I even think the saturation of colors are much better.
It says i have modified software because i flashed the modified 526 ftf...

yes u just need to lock bootloader., because your 526 ftf file is fully stock.

Hi all!
Tomorrow I will receive my new phone and send away my beloved Note 2.
I have loved the note series but I was too pissed off with Samsung shying away from 6" and giving us a measly .18" display increase on the Note 3 so I decided to try something else.
I have been reading a lot and learning about accessories for the phone etc. And of course ready to root and try a ROM and OCing righaway.
So just wanted to say hi to my new community!

Nay, you need root to install recovery, but you can use recovery without unlocking your bootloader. You can't flash custom ROMs (CM/Omni/PA/modified stock) without unlocking it though.

I saw in development a rom for locked and unlocked boot loader. Are you sure?
Funny cause I read something like that too and is very confusing coming from the Samsung world so I guess I need to relearn things again

Well, since you mentioned it, i'm not that sure anymore. If it's possible to flash a modified stock ROM with a locked bootloader, it doesn't include AOSP ROMs, since i know that you must have an unlocked bootloader to flash those because of signatures etc.
(Feel free to correct me, people!)

To elaborate, you can't use custom kernels with locked bootloaders. The signatures mismatch and thus, the ROM doesn't work. That includes AOSP kernels obviously.
Unlocked bootloaders don't check the kernel signature and thus, you can use custom kernels. ROMs have nothing to do with it. The 'custom' ROM being mentioned uses a stock kernel, so it can run on both LB and UB.
Basically,
Locked ---> Stock kernel from Sony only.
Unlocked ---> All kernels.

Yeah, iFont should work. I haven't tried it on the ZU though, so do a full NAND backup before trying.

I too have come to the X Z U from a SG Note2. I had been contemplating the note3 but the region locking killed that idea.
Now the Note 2 seems ordinary size, and smaller phones like toys! And the XZU is definitely faster than the Note 2, even though the latter never felt slow.
Just got my Xperia ZU last night. Totally, new to Android coming from IOS. Glad to be off that POS.

Woo! Congrats! Yes, it's HUGE, but it'll grow on you after using it a week or two and it'll "shrink" in your head.
Just may have figured out something new or old... If you have the version 4.9.whatever play store, go to settings and tap the build number. It will popup that a new version will be downloaded and installed. Tap okay and go on your merry way. Enjoy the beauty of the material theme in a bit.

yeah, exactly...the fix that has been released on other devices (Google & HTC) are still vulnerable...though I don't believe the stagefright scare is all that...
