[GUIDE] [MOD] Add Custom Banner in "about phone" section in Galaxy y - Galaxy Y GT-S5360 Themes and Apps

Here is my custom banner
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
What we need:
1) ApkTool
2) Notepad++
3) 7zip
4) Root Explorer
Files we need to add custom banner:
1) Transparent Banner Template, modify it with Photoshop or any other image editor to add ur preferred logos, writings, etc etc. (PLEASE REFER HERE)
2) logo_banner.xml, which u will put in res/layout LINK
3) Settings.apk and framework-res.apk from ur ROM
Lets start:
1) First we install framework-res.apk with apktool using this code
Code:
apktool if framework-res.apk
2) Decompile Settings.apk with apktool using this code
Code:
apktool d Settings.apk
3) after u have modified ur banner, go to decompiled settings folder then go to res/drawable then copy and paste the banner(banner.png) there
4) now go to res/layout then copy and paste the logo_banner.xml file there
5) now go to res/xml folder, there open device_info_settings.xml file with Notepad++
6) Copy and paste this line after the third line in device_info_settings.xml
Code:
<PreferenceScreen android:layout="@layout/logo_banner" android:key="od_logo" />
7) Now compile settings with apktool using this code
Code:
apktool b Settings
8) Once compiled, open decompiled Settings folder then go to build/apk, there u will find AndroidManifest.xml file
10) Now open original Settings.apk using 7zip then copy the META-INF folder and AndroidManifest.xml file
11) paste both the files in build/apk folder, if asked to replace, click yes
12) now go to a folder in settings folder named dist, there u will find Settings.apk which u compiled
13) now delete it. We never use the first Settings.apk that we compile, because we need to add the META-INF and AndroidManifest.xml files for signing purposes. Once you have deleted the 1st compiled Settings.apk, return to the command prompt and again compile the Settings using this code
Code:
apktool b Settings
14) After it is compiled go to dist folder there u will find new and fresh compiled Settings.apk which u can use it.
15) Using Root Explorer push it into system/app folder and set permissions to rw-r-r-
16) That's it!

Dont tell thanks just press it..

In step 3 you say name the png logo_banner.png but in your xml file it points to @drawable value of banner
therefore you either need to call your png banner.png or change the value in the xml file to match what you have called the png
All works good and added my banner to my evo-x4 settings

[TUTORIAL] Build your own flashable VRTheme Mods for Xperia 2011 HDPI.[ANY ROM]

Disclaimer
Code:
You are using this tutorial by yourself and i'm in no way responsible if your mobile is damaged due to it. I will help you in best way possible to get you out of the worse situation but I can't guarantee anybody. ThankYou!
How to build apps icon pack:
Things you require:
-Base VRTheme-Here!(Don't worry there are no trojans)
-Some icons-Here are my AOSP icons.
-Required apps from the ROM which you want to modify.
-Notepad++ for changing updater-script.
-Any good photo editing tool.
-A brain to avoid mistakes and bother me with stupid questions.
-Kindness to press the THANKS button below.
Click to expand...
Click to collapse
Steps:
1. Download all the things required.
2. Open your ROM and copy all the apps and move them to a seperate folder. Here we will take only 3 apps-Browser, Messaging and Calculator.
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
3. Now extract these apps using 7zip or winrar.
4. Now open the app folder, go to res and find the location where the icon of the app is present. These are generally present in mipmap-hdpi or drawable-hdpi. For e.g. in my case Browser app it's present in mipmap-hdpi named as ic_launcher_browser.png:
5. Now extract the VRTheme base folder and go to vrtheme->system->app and make a new folder their with named as appname.apk(Here appname refers to the name of the app). For e.g. Browser.apk in my case.
6. Now make res folder in it. And under res folder make another folder which contains app icon. For e.g res->mipmap-hdpi in my case:
7. Now place your modified icon in it and rename it to the original icon name. For e.g. ic_launcher_browser.png in my case. And resize it to 72X72. If you want to resize it by percent then decrease xhdpi icons by 66.7%. I don't recommend resizing from MDPI as it will decrease the quality of the icon and blur it.
8. Do the same for other apps. In my case calculator and messaging.
9. Now give this icon pack your name. Go to META-INF->com->google->android and open updater-script with notepad++ and in second line replace alokbina with your name. You can practically change almost everything under ui_print in updater-script but remember that it should be in the format ui_print("ABCD"); . Here replace ABCD with whatever you like.
10. Now you will be having 4 folders- data, META-INF, system, vrtheme and an image named as preview. Zip all these and rename it whatever you like and flash it with CWM and you're done! Enjoy your own icon pack Feel free to THANK me :laugh:
Click to expand...
Click to collapse
Important Tip:-Note the size of the original icon and modify the other icon accordingly or else you may not get any icon or smaller icon. For e.g. sometimes the icon present in the app is of size 96X96 though it is hdpi app. But still change the other icon size also to 96X96 to get best result.

[TUTORIAL] How To Modify StatusBar Icons With 7-Zip (Pack Status icons ADDED)

Just for Who Dont Like icons of Custom roms,or want change icons of deodexed stock rom...
1° Download 7-zip : http://downloads.sourceforge.net/sevenzip/7z920.exe
Simple and Easy method
(This is the same procedure for battery,signal,3g.. I only show how to replace wifi,to make this "tutorial" Small )
This is my Hyperion:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Let´s Start:
1-Pick up systemui.apk and framework-res.apk (With root explorer or ADB etc)from your rom you want to modify.
And put it on folder and rename to any name (to make easy differentiate)
systemui.apk : System/app
framework-res.apk: system/framework
2- Right click on systemui.apk,and go to 7zip>Extract to systemui\" (The same for framework-res.apk)
Now you gonna see two folders: systemui and framework-res.
Lets "edit" systemui.apk:
Open framework-res> res > drawable-ldpi
Leave drawable-ldpi open
3- Creat other folder on desktop with different name,and put the framework-res.apk and systemui.apk of other rom..etc...contain the icons your want..
Here Thread for AOSP and ICS icons: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2158750
Same procedure of PASS-2
Leave this folder on too
4- Resize the windows,and go to same folder,like this:
5- Copy icons your want (S3 wifi in my example)
And replace for hyperion icons (in my example)
Now you have replaced,the wifi icons:
6- Back on your folder,with original systemui.apk of your rom.
Right click on systemui.apk and : 7-zip> Open archive
7-
On 7-Zip window,Navigate to Res\drawable-ldpi\
Select wifi icons you have replaced,and DRAG N DROP ON 7-zip (drawable-ldpi folder)
And Select YES
DONE,Now: Pick up you "EDITED" systemui.apk and replace on your rom:
(Root explorer Ex) And Set Permissions to:
R -W -
R - -
R - -
FINAL:

Today i will guide you on how to decompile with Apk Tool,so I would post here
Needed files :-
Windows
ApkTool
Java JDK/JRE 32 bit
Cmd/terminal knowledge
Step 1
First you need to extract that zip folder to anywhere you choose, preferably on root of c/drive E.g: C:/android/apktool extracting the files to 'apktool' folder.
Step 2
Now copy the apk you would like to mod into your Apk Tool folder.
Step 3
Command Prompt:
Open up your Command Prompt by going to:
Start -> run -> type : Cmd
Step 4
Your cmd will probly look like this..
C:\users\yourname>
so type in
cd.. (Yes include the '..' and press enter after you type each command.)
this will get you to back directory so now you will see
C:\users>
so type again
cd..
you should now see this:
C:\>
now type in:
cd 'apktoo'l/'directory'
for me it looks like:
cd android/apktool
now you should see:
C:/android/apktool>
and you are in the apktool directory
Step 5
Installing Framework
Now that you are in directory we need to install the device's framework to your system for it to compile correctly so type this:
apktool if framework-res.apk
This will install the devices framework to your system. need to do this.
Step 6
Decompiling
Now to decompile the apk you want to edit, type this:
apktool d framework-res.apk framework1
Step 7
Recompiling...
Now to recompile your new apk type this:
apktool b framework1 framework-res-new.apk
framework1 is the folder with your edited files
framework-res-new.apk is your new apk file
We cannot use the new apk's... we have to take what we did and add it back to the original apk file to keep proper signature
use something like 7zip or winrar, take the 'resources.arcs' file and any other xml files you edited out of the "-new" apk and copy them into Original apk
Your new modded APK is now ready, Congrats!:highfive:
Good Luck ..
must try

if you want to provide a guide on edting stuff,
people cannot visualize your concepts,
i'd suggest adding screenshots to make it more pleasant and understandable
you say it's for "noobs" and very "basic"
well if i'm a begginer i'd ask myself this when i read your guide
-how to decompile apps?
-how to download paint.net
-how to open to res/drawable-ldpi
-what is a 9.png
-what are those 4 black corners?
-how to change color?
you should at least broaden the scope of information provided so keep the information clear to the newbies

After you have edited and recompiled the apk, then open the original apk and the edited one (ex using WinRAR), then delete "resources" and "res" from the original apk, and move the "resources" and "res" from the edited apk to the original apk. Now try it.

battery low notification replacement problem
Hi Everyone,
Can any body help me changing Noir A8 battery low sound.
I replaced the Battery low.ogg file with another one having same Name and Extension as .ogg in System/media/audio/ui and set the permission same as original using Root Explorer and restart the phone but still i noted original sound not the one which I want.
Orignal sound is not present in System/media/audio/ui but the new one and heard the old sound when battery goes low .
PLZ Tell how to change ? Thnx
