[Q] phone turns on for 5 seconds then turns off - Vibrant Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

i was on cm 10, then my phone stopped turning on, so i used odin to get the phone back to stock android, and it still wont turn completely on. i think my boot loader may be messed up? i have no idea.
when i press the power button, first thing i see is "Samsung galaxy gt -I9000" then a screen that says "Vibrant" then screen turns black and nothing happens. i know its strange that it says gt - i9000 but thats what it used to be with the cm 10 roms.
i get to the download screen by holding volume up + power button. i can not get to recovery which used to be volume down + power button.
please help!

The reason you see Samsung Galaxy GT-I9000 when you boot your phone up is because you have somehow flashed Gingerbread bootloaders to your phone. GB bootloaders allow you to boot to download mode with UP + POWER and recovery with DOWN + POWER. This is a good thing though, I have GB bootloaders too and its much easier to boot into recovery or download. From what I can tell you need to flash back to stock again, make sure you have repartitioned checked, correct files can be found from this link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=849028. If it still bootloops then you may have a kernel problem, you could try to flash one of Fishman's 2.2 ROMS (Odin versions) and then flash a 2.2 kernel (Odin version), maybe this will boot your phone up.

I used odin V1.82 to flash codworks kernel with CWM as described in so many threads, it seemed to work, was green, said pass, phone rebooted, then i powered off, held volume up and power button, got the galaxy sii screen with the yellow triangle, and it just boots the phone normally! Tried to flash it twice tried holding volume down too, can't figure out what I've done wrong any help?

HOLD VOL UP + VOL DOWN + POWER until you're in CWM.

My Sammy GS2 Wont flash roms anymore :(

All of a sudden,
My Galaxy s2 got f*cked up some sort of way,
when i am on stock fw, and flashing codework's CWM 5.0.2.3 through odin -> PDA the phone wont boot normally, stuck at triangle, it wont even boot to CWM but instead it goes into bootloops again until the traingle screen...
so i flashed cf-root kk2 all is fine and it boots normally + to cwm if i press the combo.....BUT!
when i want to flash a custom rom (CM,Miui, other roms)
it installs just fine, but when i reboot, again stuck @ traingle screen and no way to get back into recovery!
download mode works fine, i can only flash official/leaked samsung roms......
i searched the forum, couldnt find any help, and help is what i need now, serious help!
exactly the same problem.
press
vol+ key, home key and power button together to go to recovery mode??
1. Are you wiping data/cache etc when flashing new ROM to prevent bootloops?
2. If you get stuck at the triangle, have you tried pulling the battery (or hold power button until phone switches off) then use Vol UP - Power - Home, key combo to get into recovery?

Help! Cannot Boot Into Recovery

So I'm trying to boot into the bootloader so I can enter CWM, but for some reason whenever I hold the power and volume down buttons my Galaxy Tab 10.1 WiFi just keeps showing me the "Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1" splash screen and will just stay in a boot loop of that until I release power and volume down, at which point it will enter a normal boot and start up normally.
What am I doing wrong or what is the problem? I rooted back when I was on 3.1 and I did the OTA update to 3.2. Could it have something to do with that?
Please help. Thanks!
You have to leave the power button alone without leaving the volume button when you see the logo.
Just so you know, 3.1 with CWM and doing an OTA update will result in removal of your CWM. That's probably why you aren't getting it down right, that or you aren't pressing the right combo buttons.
Was pressing the wrong button combo lol. Thanks guys, I got it!

[Q] my vibrant is tuck on the samsung screen

hi my phone just stays on the Samsung vibrant logo
i wont go to the recovery or download mode with the button combo
it just stuck on that screen i need HELP PLEASE
what rom you flashed?
odin GB rom which ported from GS
will change your bootloader
try: volum-&power,volum+&power
i flashed a miui 4 rom but ithink the problem was that i had an old version of cwm-- yes i tried the buttons combo nothing happens
i hope this helps
Use Odin to return it to stock 2.1 then use Quickfixlagfix.apk it only works on 2.1 and this will install CWM on your phone and from there the possibilities are endless,
and about the buttons not working try this:
open odin as adminstrator on your computer
hold the power button let it restart
let go of the power button, while holding the up/down volume key
as soon as it restarts insert the usb while holding the volume key
Good luck hope this helps
sorry i meant any version of one click lag fix old or new dont matter

If you can boot into download mode, then it's soft-bricked and can be repaired. You can flash the correct recovery.
If you can neither boot into download nor into recovery mode, it's hard-bricked.

Probably you flashed a recovery that is broken/not for your device/not in the right slot.
Get another recovery from another site and download it with a different device and try again.
Help me
Still stuck? Just been through this with my A10, don't panic, chances are you are still good.
The phone is not actually dead, its just stuck trying to boot, has nothing on the screen and isn't responding to the key presses you think it should be.
Try this
Hold Vol - & Power
Count to 5
Release both keys (it will look like nothing happened, it actually just power cycled)
Immediately press Vol + & Power, after a second phone should vibrate then power up
Release both keys
Phone should boot into recovery again
You might not get it first try, a good method I found was to keep holding Vol - & Power right up until it vibrates and count. For me the vibration happened at 7 seconds so I released at 5 seconds and swapped to Vol + by 6 seconds.
Essentially the phone power cycles after 5 seconds of holding - & power, it stays off for 2 seconds then powers back up at 7 seconds. You are trying to get the recovery key combo pressed in between the gap where the phone is off and before it powers back on.
@dungeonseeker You are my own personal demigod. I had accidentally booted into TWRP once on a bricked A10 and could never reproduce it for further tweaking. May the universe bless you!
