ROMS? - Galaxy Tab 3 10.1 Android Development

Hey everybody!
Just curious if anyone knows when custom Roms will be coming? I wanted to root my tab and get rid of the bloatware and touchwiz.

Seriously Dude! There probably a total of about 50 posts to read.
So it's great that you want to get rid of bloatware and touchwiz, It's not so great that the only thing you seem to be prepares to do about it is ask the most over asked question in the whole andoid "modding" community. Also I can only assume you didn't read the stickies http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2380991.
My question to you is what's stopping why are you not getting involved in the effort?

you can get root, and use titaniumbackup to get bloatware out...
patience

I have a question to you! Why did you root if you didn't know what you wanted to do afterwards? Rooting is not just so you can feel the "cool factor", and the vast majority of us know before we root why we want to do it, otherwise...................WHY do it???
Why did you bother? Your own answer should close this thread, and everything else you mentioned can be found by reading the forums!
No offense, but you shouldn't be rooting/flashing "roms" if you don't know what your doing.
It's very easy to end up with an unusable device.

Thx. I know that. I managed to get everything working i wanted ;-) and everyone has to start at one ponit, right. That's why I would not do it if I don't want to. I want to learn more about it so can you tell me a good thread or webside to start with?
Can anyone tell means about that rom pls.
I find your responses a bit harsh guys.. Are there laws / regulations on who can / should root, profile boxes that have to be ticked before one can decide to have a go at unleashing the full power of their phone?
Nobody was born with the knowledge, we all started from scratch at some stage. There are enough warnings that explain how to apply the root methods that are offered in the threads.

Ouch.......poor guy is new and gets slammed instantly for wondering what all he can do with his phone. I think we were all in the same boat not too long ago.
Yea, he may be a noob and not know the politics of posting before reading, but I bet each one of us did at one time too. What we should be doing is just politely pointing him in the right direction on how to learn more about all things root.
Such as http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=972423 being a good place to start.
Understand though, if you screw up your phone, there is no one to blame but yourself. Read how to recover from a soft brick and hard brick before jumping in. Read all posts VERY carefully and all the way through. That's how I learned, and many others before me. And first and foremost, before asking questions about anything, do a quick search of the treads to see if it has already been asked and answered before. If you don't find your question, feel free to ask and ignore those that troll the treads.
Good luck my man.

I am running Gingerblur which is very similar. I think it is a great ROM and one of the few so far for the Atrix. If you like some of the Blur stuff such as the gallery and social networking items, you have to understand that you will be losing them with the new ROM and going with the stock Android gallery. However, if you do a backup of your current ROM before flashing, you can always revert back if you don't like it.
Big thing, screen shots help for me. And the ROM developers do a great job at giving the details of their ROMs in their posts or websites.

I agree, we all have to learn, but the vast majority of us started by reading through threads which have all the info about how to flash sbf's, root, sideload, flash themes, what is and is not possible, etc. We then tried things by following the instructions.
I'm not, and was not, trying to be a ****. I am however very blunt! Everything the OP needs is already there if he/she looks. The forums are full of "repeat" threads because people are basically too lazy to read and research for themselves before asking what has already been asked numerous times.

Gingerbread update questions

Hey everyone I got a question and I hope people contribute rather than leave nasty comments behind. If its on a previous thread just point me there.
With the Gingerbread update I know that it will make somethings unavailable for a while. Here is the question...
Will we there be a way to get the web-top hack back as well as the netflix .apk to run? Will side-loading actually be available and will we be able to root?
I have read some threads saying that the bootloader "Might" be unlocked,so will this help out the whole rooting and sideloading and web-top hacks...?
I use the web-top and netflix app alot and so I would like to know what your opinions are thanks.
Actually, all rooting-sideloading-tethering-etc modifications may be truncated; but it's a matter of time... Nobody can tell you.
You should just wait for the update...
Was necessary a new thread for asking this? really?
release the dogs...
The future's a long way off...

[Q] To root or not to root

Not sure if this as been asked recently, but I have a question specifically for Intratech, I was wondering what you currently have running on your S2, ie xwki8 with touchwiz launcher or something else and is it rooted?

Don't you think a pm to intratech would have sufficed instead of this inane thread?
I never understood why someone won't root a device. It's 10 seconds process, besides absolutely nothing will be changed but you will have the root access, so why not do it! And if that query is addressed to a particular member then you should send him a PM instead of creating a thread!
Im my opinion it's worth rooting your device.
To keep as close to stock as possible use one of chainfires (cfroot) stock but rooted kernels. By using a cf kernel all should be as stock but you will get cwm, busybox and root.
Once rooted you can enjoy all the cool benefits of apps that require root like titanium backup, setCPU,etc, etc. Not to mention all the benefits of cwm like backups and flashing from your device, etc.
Just go for it.

Just thought I’d bring a happy end to this inane thread.
I finally managed to get some time to mod my phone, so its now rooted & running cyanogenmod 7.1, which despite been a massive improvement on the stock rom i used to have, is regularly giving me force closures, which are usually fixed by a quick search of xda, im goin preserve with it for a week or so in the hope that they do a update to blitz the bugs, if not then im thinking about giving miui a try until the modding community can get their hands on the source code and release a stable version of ICS.
Thanks for the advice 'aceofclubs' you’re a credit to this forum.
some people are too rude in their replies...Don't they think that not everyone is a geek in smartphones? I know that they will be zero or less than zero in my own subject or speciality...
If any one doesn't want to reply, then better not to reply instead of humiliating reply.

[Q] Samsung Apps

I have done a lot of searching on this and everything i have found suggests this is not possible but those posts are dated I just want to be sure nothing has changed recently.
I like the stock feel of the i717 with the samsung mms app and the samsung calendar app, touchwiz, etc. There are no official samsung updates after 4.1.2, but is it possible to get the samsung apps/framework working on cm11/cm10.2/AOSP somehow? It doesn't appear that anyone is too interested in doing this, maybe because the level of difficulty, but I would just like to know if it's possible. Maybe port a rom from a newer samsung phone? If its possible but not been done yet, i'm willing to do the work if someone will just point me in the right direction. Thanks.
P.S. This is a Q&A help section and I have done proper research before asking my question. No insults about my lack of knowledge please. I'm not asking anyone to do work for me, I just want advice. Thanks.
i think the problem is that you're one of the few people who like the samsung apps. a lot of people root their phones or install custom ROMs to have the ability to remove those apps.
good luck, though.

I'm always a minority lol. And I don't like all of them, just a few. Mainly the messaging app, samsung keyboard, and the gallery. And touchwiz with landscape mod is nice too. I just like the feel of a touchwiz rom but with samsung's 18 month support policy, the i717 is left hung out to dry...I wonder how hard it would be to just back-port a i747 rom? Thanks for the reply

SCV39 root (snapdragon)

anyone using this device found a way to root this on android pie?
or a custom rom maybe?
The stock firmware really sucks (full of carrier apps, no bixby voice)
it would really be nice flashing a custom rom for this device so it wouldn't feel like a mid-range samsung phone. LOL

Only a few models are, if your isn't one of them about the only news is don't expect one anytime soon (after you read the quoted portion on another thread asking about rooting I posted in another thread asking about rooting).
Currently no matter how many times it is asked the answer has been the same (so asking is rather pointless). Unfortunately one shouldn't expect that to change as it stands...

**Side note there should be a sticky/pinned thread at the top of the Q&A topic repeating the answer. Can be a small FAQ thread or something/anything. Figure would help new members for using better thread titles, the search feature of the board (and how to use it in a quick tutorial if necessary), when asking for help some pointers on how to explain the issue/problem and what kind of details they should give (but fail either by mistake, impatience or being unaware).
I also use this device. I have unlocked the bootloader, but until now can't find a way to root. Desperately want to, as too many bloatware in it
