Coby Kyros MID1125 Tablet - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

How can I flash my coby kyros mid1125? It's got a weird screen display and is permanent. It covers three quarters of the screen when its switched on. I have tried quick img program but it keeps asking for fast boot mode. I have tried holding the volume up and down buttons but it doesnt work. also have several times done reset. I have also tried FWDN program but it gives an error. I have the .img file. Can someone point me in the right direction please. Tell me what to do and provide download links for working .img file flashing uploaders etc.
Thank you.

For Extended memory ,( You need this )
Increase Internal Memory by Link2SD : Min 2 GB microSD
In order to add memory to Coby 1125, your micro SD card used for install will need to be formatted

• Backup all your files on memory card.
• Go into the Recovery Mode ( as above , fastboot boot recovery.img ) ( Your operating system will be fine )
• Make a nandroid backup at this time
• Select “Advanced”, and then choose “Partition SD Card”.
• Then Choose your size ( if you have a 2GB Memory Card, choose 512 MB, and if you have a 4 GB Memory card, you can choose 1024 MB, ext ).

You’ve just made a partition on your memory card, and its ready to use.
Now follow the steps below for Link2SD
• Open Link2SD. You will be prompted to choose between ext2,ext3,ext4 and FAT32.
• Choose ext2
• Select OK ,
• It will then say, “Mount Script Created”.
• Now you Reboot your Tablet
• Open Link2SD again, if any message does not appear ,it means you succeeded.
• Go to Link2SD > Setting( far right top icon ) scroll down > Check the autolink. (to automatically move apps upon installation).
If you already have some apps listed , select “create link” ( be sure to check the files: app, dalvic-cache, and library files).
Move to SD option only moves app to SD it does not link them
Now to check the memory, select “Storage Info” . this will be showing you up the current status of your internal memory.
You should see as below SD Card 2nd Part
To move a system App you can long press App , it will pull up menu , select convert to user App let it do its thing
Select App again and it will open option to create link as installed user apps do
So far I have moved Calculator , VPN , Music FX , ES File Explorer and Sound Recorder with no issue
Use Link2Sd and (long press) on SystemUpdate.apk ( /system/app/SystemUpdate.apk ) and freeze app.
This will stop System Update from happening at random moments or on reboot
There is no Update to install though the System thinks so (without freezing it will continue to show updates available)

Help me to back up rom plzzz!!!!

Rom v 1.03 USA
n bootloader mode v 1.02
i wanna upgrade to wm2k3SE
but i cant back up my rom ?
if i wan to back up always pop up notice
Card initialize is failed ??
wat thats means ?
thzzz for ur anssss
While a lot has been written, the following should provide an easy-to-follow guide:
Preparation:
1. A torch (read on and you will know why)
2. 256M SD card
3. Download ntrw.exe, romupdate.exe, hexedfull.exe from the ftp of this forum to c:\ and install hex editor
4. Download the appropriate ROM file (hereafter referred to as "newrom.nb1"). Somehow, these rom files seemed to be deleted from this ftp. I will upload them later.
5. Cancel USB in ActiveSync
6. Use Sprite Backup to backup your ppc
Backup original ROM:
1. Put ppc into the boot loader mode (hold both on/off and camera buttons at the same time while resetting).
2. Insert empty SD card.
3. Connect ppc to pc through USB.
4. Run romupdate.exe on pc.
5. Select “\\.\WCEUSBSH001” in port settings. In the popup windows, enter “d2s” and press enter.
6. Don’t get panic to see the ppc screen goes dark. Use your torch and you will see the download percentage. Wait until it reaches 100% and shows “CheckSum is OK!”.
7. Insert SD card into card reader of the pc. Ignore the “format SD card” message and click “No”.
8. Run “command” to go into DOS prompt and change to root directory (cd c:\). Enter “ntrw read oldrom.nb1 s:” where s is the drive of your SD card.
9. Ignore the “Data error <cyclic redundancy check>” message. You should save another copy of this important rom file “oldrom.nb1”.
Change header of newrom.nb1:
1. Right click on oldrom.nb1 to open hex editor. Copy the first 220 bytes.
2. Open the downloaded newrom.nb1 file and overwrite the first 220 bytes with those of the old rom.
3. Save the edited newrom.nb1. You may save another copy of this important file.
4. Go to the command prompt and enter “ntrw write newrom.nb1 s:” to write it to the SD card. Ignore the error message “The parameter is incorrect”.
Update the ROM:
1. Insert SD card into ppc and put it to boot loader mode again (on/off + camera + reset). Use you torch to check the dark screen.
2. When it shows “Press Power to flash”, press the on/off button. Wait until it reaches 100% and ignore the message “Download Fail - CheckSum Fail”
3. Soft reset your ppc.
4. You may have to reinstall your software, unless you are familiar with the advanced features of Sprite Backup.

5.On phone open Root explorer go to your SD card directory tap Menu button(these four squares) select "Multi select"
6.Select those 3 files that you put on SD card (busybox ,chargemon , xrecovery.tar)
7.When You have selected those 3 files select option "move" , tap once back button and enter "system" folder in sytem enter "bin" folder and than select paste
8.Reboot phone and its done (to enter x recovery when phone boots and Sony Ericsson sign shows start tapping back button)

[Q] How to root Moto E (updated to 4.4.4) ?

I have a Motorola Moto E(XT1022). I bought it recently and just when I first started it, I got the 4.4.4 kitkat update and so I downloaded it right away. Then I realised one of the biggest problems of Moto E i.e. 2.2 gb storage. So i dug into find how to install apps on sd card and got to know that you have to root the phone. On xda, I found various ways to root but they were only for the 4.4.2 version of the phone and others were update to 4.4.4 on aldready rooted devices. Please tell me the way to root my device. Also as I am new to this, I dont understand any words like bootloader, fast recovery, etc. Please help me. Thank you in advance.
Edit: Can I use the way given by deej_roamer in his post here:http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2755336
Edit: I am sorry to have posted this in the general section. I don't know how to move it now to the questions section. Sorry again.
Thank You DAVI FELICANO and deej_roamer for their help. I have now successfully rooted my phone. If someone else has a problem, go to Page 2 for the solution.
You can use the defalt method, dont need to change anything.
Who told you that you need root to move apps to sd card?
Once you insert sd card you will get an option in settings/apps to move apps to sd card for those that can be moved.
This is though limited to Apks only and data is still kept in internal sd card.
If this option is not enough for you then you can go the advanced wag by rooting and using gl2sd or link2sd like apps.

You mean I can just follow the way to root if my device would have been running 4.4.2 kitkat (and as suggested by deej_roamer in his post here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2755336 )
Thank you.

You can install only one game due to it's low internal memory. By one game I mean high graphics game. The obb file remains in the internal storage even after moving to SD card. I tried many things like making SD card default storage using SDK tools but to no Vail. Guess the only way now is to root it & use apps like gl2sd

I followed the thread by deej_roamer here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2755336
Try out my steps:
[Your phone battery must be at least 75%]
1. First download "Fastboot" from the thread. (Click on the "mfastboot-v2" link in the thread)
2. Next install it in a folder and remember that folder. Also, make sure you select the option of "Create shortcut on Desktop" during installation.
3. Next download CWM recovery from this thread - http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-e/general/root-moto-e-rooting-flashing-recovery-t2802971 (Click on the "CWM 6.0.4.9 recovery For MOTO E" link in the thread)
4. Copy the "cwm6.0.4.9_recover.img" file to the installation folder of fastboot.
5. Next download SuperSU v2.02 from here - http://download.chainfire.eu/452/SuperSU/UPDATE-SuperSU-v2.02.zip (Click on "UPDATE-SuperSU-v2.02.zip" link)
6. Don't Extract Supersu zip file.
7. Connect phone to pc. Copy the zip file to your internal memory(the directory of int. memory is /sdcard) (The directory for ext. sd card is /storage/sdcard1).
8. Remove your phone from your pc.
9. Switch off your device.
10. Turn on your device by holding power off button and volume down button together for 6-7 seconds. Quickly connect your phone to your pc.
11. The bootloader must be showing usb connected.
12. Run fastboot from your desktop.
13. Now type this (without quotes) - "fastboot flash recovery cwm6.0.4.9_recovery.img"
14. Look at the screen of device. It must be showing "Mismatched partition size (recovery)". It is normal don't worry.
15. Press volume down once (recovery will be selected) and then volume up so that it goes into recovery.
16. It will show the bootloader unlocked warning. Don't worry about it.
17. Your phone should now be in CWM recovery.
18. Don't do anything except what I tell you.
19. In this menu movement is done by the volume rockers ans selection by power button.
20. Press volume down so that "install zip" is selected.
21. Press power button.
22. Select "choose zip from /sdcard". Press power button.
23. Find the SuperSU.zip file(It will probably be in the "0/" folder)
24. It will ask to confirm install. Select Yes.
25. SuperSU will be installed.
26. Select CWM reboot. When you select CWM reboot, it will display "root access possibly lost - Fix?". PLEASE Select "No".
27. Your phone will now reboot. (The bootloader unlocked warning will be shown and then the boot animation).
28. Open your menu(in the phone) and find SuperSu app (a # symbol will be there in its icon).
29. Disconnect your device from the pc.
CONGRATULATIONS YOU HAVE A ROOTED MOTO E.
If you ever wish to flash any other recovery (like twrp),
1. Copy the file to the fastboot installation folder in your pc.
2. Then reboot your device into bootloader and quickly connect it to your pc.
3. Run fastboot from your desktop and then type the following without quotes: "fastboot flash recovery cwm6.0.4.9_recovery.img"
4. Instead of writing "cwm6.0.4.9_recovery.img" write the complete file name including extension. For eg. if file name is "twrp_recovery_2" and has extension ".img" then write "fastboot flash recovery twrp_recovery_2.img"
I hope that this solved your problem brother.

Is your recovery.img placed in the "C:\Program Files (x86)\Minimal ADB and Fastboot"?
It need to placed in it or you'll get an error.
Boot loader is LOCKED !! cannot be unlocked !! so no root for me ?

How to insert an APK file into system applications (not by me)

without any introductions these are the steps.....:
1- You must root your device first by Root genuis or any program else....
2- install root explorer from Google Play
3- You must know where is your APK file on your SD Card
4- launch root explorer....
5- Go to storage....
6- Go to sdcard....
7- long press on your apk file and choose copy or move...
8- Go to System--app and press paste
9- Search for it and long press again....
10- Choose permissions..
11- mark on the boxes as in the picture
12- press Ok.....
13- Reboot your device and its done !!!!!
I hate to say it but this is common knowledge. You can also do it with titanium backup or adb commands. Or a zip files
