It is a shame, that with such great products, if Spigen SGP would work on their customer service model, infrastructure, and bring support back to SPIGEN SGP instead of the current "re-seller assumes liability" approach, they could control a large market share of the ever expanding cell phone accessory category.
This case is for the Samsung Galaxy S4, it is not available for the Note 3. I know that many of you, have contacted Spigen SGP about the possibility of producing this glorious case for the Note 3. I have contacted them and they have said there are no plans for producing this beautiful case. My hope is that with this thread someone at SPIGEN SGP might see it get the ball rolling.
This case is ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL and offers a full protection that many of us want/need, they are already producing Slim Armors for the Note 3. SO how many of you want this case?
The SPIGEN SGP Slim Armor View is a hybrid of our Slim Armor and the Samsung S-View Cover that offers a new and innovative flip case designed specifically to increase the user experience. The Slim Armor View is a case which offers full body protection. It takes our popular dual layered Slim Armor case and includes a polycarbonate flip cover to help guard your phone against scratches and accidental drops. The removable flip cover is attached by a special hinge allowing the cover to be folded all the way back with ease. The Slim Armor View also includes the automatic sleep/wake function when the cover is closed and opened. The view window and built in access to the home button offers the user a way to receive incoming notifications and calls without having to open the cover on the case. The sophisticated and optimal design makes this case one of a kind.

I am calling on Galaxy Note 3 owners to help me encourage Spigen to offer a case that I know would be a hit just as it has been on the Galaxy S4 (I had one on my Galaxy S4 and was very happy with it).
If you are not familiar with the Slim Armor View that Spigen offers you can see what it looks like here for the Galaxy S4 here is a link http://www.spigen.com/brands/samsung/galaxy/galaxy-s4/galaxy-s4-case-slim-armor-view.html
So if you are interested in Spigen making this case, think they should make this case and would want to buy this case then I ask you to hit yes and also contact Spigen directly at them on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/SpigenWorld or Twitter https://twitter.com/spigenworld or email them on their site www.spigen.com
Thank you.

If you end up deciding that this is not the case for you. Jot a line in this thread as to why, and if a particular feature or aspect of the case would convince you otherwise.
Don't forget to drop a quick line, (as well as a link to this post if you so wish) on the SPIGEN SGP social media sites above (thanks to @RaptorMD for the links)
Please do NOT submit a support ticket or question. Their support is crumbling (I am sure due to all the iSheep) I suggest only social media for this battle. At least untill their support blunders get straightened out.
Thanks

Oh, yes please... been looking for a case so my new phone stays in perfect condition.... due to receive tomorrow... can't wait!!

Looks lovely!

This case would be perfect. Costs less than Samsung's and looks more durable.... I would buy it today if available.

I have emailed Spigen about this case as well. No response as of yet

If you would buy it, please vote. I have emailed Spigen directly with a link to this thread and to one on AndroidCentral.com so they will see there is demand for it. I also encourage you to email them as well.
I had this case on my Galaxy S4 it is an awesome case and with a larger S-View window for the GN3 it would be even better.

I do hope most people agree with me that $49.99 is a SMALL price to pay for FULL 360° protection of our $700 phones. All the while most features of the phone will still be accessible while that front panel is closed. It is the perfect combination of SPIGEN SGP quality and protection with SAMSUNG S-VIEW integration. Another blow to the Slim Armor View cause:

I'm happy with just a typical TPU cover and a screen protector, myself.

Then you are definitely not as clumsy as me XD.

Will be doing my part in asking about this product. Daily tweeting and such. I really want one!!!

This case does look like a winner in my eyes. I will do my part to poke their PR team

I guess for the time being a Glas.tr and the Slim Armor will do until they have the Slim Armor View for the Note 3 ready. Does anyone know how long it took the case to come out with the S4? Or was it available at launch? They have to know that a lot of people are ready to buy this case...

I think it took almost 2 months for it to come out for the GS4. If they are still deciding to add this case to their lineup, then it probably didn't sell well for the GS4 to guarantee a day 1 release like they are doing with the Neo Hybrid and Slim Armor. Might take awhile for this case to come out if they do decide to make it.

I don't know about the Tr, but when I did use this case for my GS4, I was also using MIME's ghost glass protector. I had no issues besides (for some reason) dust be attracted to the edges. Not sure why it was happening, but you shouldn't have any issues using the View and Glas.Tr together. I'm 100% sure Spigen make's sure all of their products are compatible with each other.

So, Spigen just replied to me via Twitter:
@spigenWorld Will you be releasing a Slim Armor View for the Samsung Note 3? VERY INTERESTED!

We're still planning our full line-up!

I was able to get a Slim Armor View to work with my Glas.tR Slim a bit snug but it did fit. I suspect a Glas.tR Nano would work perfectly.

Before I begin...
Otterbox is renowned for their premiere armor-like phone cases. I have owned many phones and two of which I put Otterbox phone cases on. Outside of Otterbox cases, I have tried countless cases at a variety of prices and quality. Some cases are pretty good, but none have the same appeal, protection, and reputation that Otterbox does. Upon unboxing the Otterbox commuter case, I discovered both international and US versions of the phone screen protectors. And, in the photos I have uploaded, you'll see that I actually have the international Note screen protector instead of the US version. I'll explain later...
Both Otterbox cases I have owned (Motorola Atrix, Samsung Galaxy Note) are very similar to each other. Even though my Atrix had a Defender case and the Note now has the Commuter case, both actually give the same feeling of protectiveness, look, and feel. When I first put the Defender case on my Atrix, I immediately knew that Otterbox will be the case for all my phones in the future. Otterbox makes a plethora of cases for many makes and models of cellular phones, so I knew that we would eventually get these bad boys. I received mine yesterday and immediately ditched my previous case for the only case my Note will have protect it again.
Also... In my opinion, Otterbox cases speak for themselves and don't need actual reviews, just someone saying, "Go buy it now. You won't regret it."
The Look...
One word to describe this case would be: Armor. The way this case looks with the polygonal insets to connect the soft silicon to the hard shell casing gives it a great look. There are slotted cross dashes on the back of the case with Otterbox's logo near the bottom. The classic sloped front fit around the screen is also present with this Otterbox case. Everything about this case is sleek, stylish, and protective. Great looking case.
Defects? What defects... There were no defects present on this case, nor were there on my first Otterbox case. I expect this type of quality from Otterbox. If anyone has experienced defects with their Otterbox case, please comment and give some insight on the customer service portion of the Otterbox company.
The Fit...
Putting this case on the phone was more trouble than I thought it would be, but I welcomed it, since every other case I had up to now had yet to give me the right fit I was looking for. After about 30 seconds of initial fitting, the case is on and the fit is amazing. The tightness of the fitting of this case is great. It gives a great secure feeling to the phone that no other case has provided.
The power buttons and volume buttons are covered by solid elevated silicone, which provides just enough resistance to where it wont accidentally be activated by walking or bumping into things from within the pocket of your pants. The 3.5mm and phone charger inputs are covered by silicone flaps that are inset into the case. Both inputs are large enough to provide the physical connections with the cords without being obstructed by the case. The spen opening is generous and allows for easy removal. The speaker has an opening through the case as well.
The protection...
Apart from the protection that the case itself provides, Otterbox provides a screen protector (for both versions of the note) as well. Pretty straight forward screen protector, two films surrounding the outer and inner surfaces of the protector. It comes with a small microfiber wiping cloth and the squeegee for those pesky air bubbles. I started with the US version of the screen protectors (duh) but for some reason, i got dust on the protector itself and it was just a mess from the beginning, so I went ahead and put the international one on. The only difference between the two protectors is the cutout on the bottom of the international one. Looks a little odd, but it works.
Conclusion...
My overall experience with Otterbox has been great. Both cases I have owned have been of the utmost quality. No other case provides me with the look, the feel, and the protection that Otterbox has given me with their cases. I am very pleased with this case and highly recommend it to anyone.
not to point fingers.... but do you work for otterbox? Just never seen someone go through so much effort on a review as far as the layout goes, if you dont work for them i think the effort is awesome.
No I don't work for otterbox... but I may have put more effort into this than I think was needed, lol

Can you take pictures of the empty case next to the note so we can see how much bulk it adds?
How sticky is it when you pull it out of your pocket?
What is the responsiveness related to the cover and the s-pen?

Ill see what I can do about the pictures. As far as the stickiness of the case... its actually pretty smooth. Comes out of the pocket pretty easily. The spen has great responsiveness to the screen with the screen protector on. No difference as far as I can tell with the screen protector.

I had an Otterbox Commuter on my late Dell Streak and it was really good but a little bulky. And it didn't have a cradle! On my Note I have Seidio Active with a kickstand and cradle, and I should say it's more elegant and compact with same level of protection. Just my two cents...
Sent from my SGH-I717R using Tapatalk 2
Nice review.
When the case is on, do you find any added resistance when putting the phone in or taking it out of your pocket? Thanks.

Great case
I just bought this case a few days ago. All i can say that it is a very sturdy and rugged case. I would have opt of the defender for about $15 more but they did not have it in stock so I got the commuter.
Overall a solid case. Definitely recommend

Honestly the three cents is inconsequential. It could have been a couple dollars more and I still would have gotten it simply because the seller is SpigenSGP (who also happen to make the best crystal clear screen protectors I've ever used), and they have a 100% seller rating.
Nice review. Any problems with dust particles on the silicon portion of the case when pulling the Note out of a pocket? With other cases that has been my experience and the look of the case decreases due to it.

you get some dust but for me it was on the outside of the case. I got my commuter off amazon for half price! I dont think it makes it bulky like the other Otter box case but it makes it have a good feel in the hand. without it the phones feels slippery.

Spigen Slim Armor View | Update: 10/01/2014
The White Color is matte finish with soft feel, where the Black Color is more on soft rubber feel matte finish.
Mine is White Color.
Build quality is extremely awesome. Solid high quality build. Loving it! One of my favor now.

Finally! my UAG - Navigator case is came! | Update: 19/12/2013
Short Review:
The finish is extremely well done!
Nice to hold, non-slip at all!
Well done button holding part, the best cut out I ever seen.
Elegance Look!
No finger magnet!
Feel strong hold and not heavy and in nice thickness size.
Came with extra screen protector.
3rd hole is confirm there already.
The best case I ever have for my Note 3, this will be my 1st favor case now.
Caution:
I should pick others color, the white is nice but it might easier get dirt due to the surface finish.
My Body Glove Case is arrived. | Update: 13/12/2013
Cute Cute Back Case.
Official Site - http://www.goheadcase.com/
Ebay Site: http://www.ebay.com/itm/HEAD-CASE-DESIGNS-...-3/370944648494
Finally received my OtterBox Defender - Merlot Color. | Update: 3/12/2013.
Impression:
I find it is not that bulky as I though, at least not for Note 3 series, it is quite similar size as Commuter series.
The provide front plastic is superb low quality cheap, it is yellowish with not constant surface. Lucky it can easier peel off! Suggest peel off that rubbish plastic if your phone already got SP especially Glass SP.
Overall build is far better than Commuter series. Solid.
I like it color combination design on it, it look fantastic, the home button cover had no impact on press, it is easier to press.
The extra heavy front black clip I just keep aside, I confirm 100% won't use it, it is useful if you do construction work.
Like it!

Can't tell, but if you ask my recommendation for back case, I will said SGP Slim Armor. It is solid build and not over bulky.
Otter Box is solid and nice to hold, no finger print, but some may find it a bit too thick.
Neo Hybrid - The beauties among the rest, but the least protection also.
I will still buying if I find some nice case. I actually quite like the UAG case, if only UAG revise the case by putting in the missing third hole.

I am using the neo hybrid, I like it but I love the looks of the Slim Armor, I wish they would make a light version of it so it wouldn't be as bulky.
Does the Neo Hybrid interfere with the headphone jack in anyway? I had the Neo Hybrid on my S4, and I couldn't plug in most headphones.

Otterbox Defender for Galaxy Note Pro 12.2

I'm considering getting one. Anyone else?

Wow that's about the cost of a 3 year squaretrade warranty with accidental coverage ($125 with a 35% off coupon code floating around).
My recommendation - go for the i-Blason
Hi
It looks amazing but if you are looking for something less expensive, I would recommend the "i-Blason Armored Dual Layer Hybrid Full-body Protective Cover with Kickstand and Impact Resistant Bumpers".
(search on Amazon)
amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00IT3UBX6
That's what I got and it was a great choice!
It's an high quality product and gives you the same protection that you are looking for...
regards
Ray
I have one on my iPad. I have been waiting for them to come out with one for the Note, but the price is very off-putting. $99 is pretty much my limit.
The Otterbox is $120.00. The i-Blason is $49.95 and it looks very close to the Otterbox. This One is $14.95 and is the exact same thing as the i-Blason. I've ordered one - I'll let you know how good it is when I get it.
Just don't expect the same specs in terms of impact resistance as an Otterbox when buying a cheaper variant.
I'm debating getting the Otterbox. My past experiences with their products are excellent, and this thing feels quite fragile. It does look massive, though...

I'm sure the otterbox may be a bit better, but I'd rather have the iblason+square trade warranty for about the same price of just the otterbox.

The Otterbox is $120.00. The i-Blason is $49.95 and it looks very close to the Otterbox. This One is $14.95 and is the exact same thing as the i-Blason. I've ordered one - I'll let you know how good it is when I get it.

I had one of those for my 10.1. Wasn't worth the 15 bucks.

Just got the $15 I-Blason version. Overall the case is very similar to my otterbox's with one exception.
The I-Blason doesn't come with the built-in screen protector like otterbox's do. I like the otterbox's screen protector because it doesn't actually adhere to the screen. Oh well it was worth the try.
This case

Is about the same as the I-blason. It has good reviews too and is also cheaper.

Oh don't get me wrong, just because I have a squaretrade warranty doesn't mean my tablet is unprotected. I'm on my second note pro, the first was crushed in a hundred pieces (don't ask). Day 1 of the second note pro consisted of taking it out of the box, installing a tempered glass screen protector and slipping it into a folio case (belkin) before registering it with squaretrade. If I'm stupid enough to make the same mistake twice i'll do my best to scoop up the pieces and file a claim lol.
I'm not against the otterbox, I think their cases are fantastic and I wouldn't mind having one. Certainly the way to go when you need something rugged, but $120 is kind of pricey. I hope they bring the price down to below $100 on that thing before it ships. Hard to believe that it should cost that much.
Just ordered the Note 12.2 defender case from otterbox. I'll post a short review in a couple of days after receiving the case.
I just got the gumdrop hideaway case from amazon. Its just like the otterbox case with screen protector. And u can even use it without the screen. Protector if u don't like it plus has a stand built right in.I have had otterbox and like them but 120 is nuts.http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00IVEHYRE/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1.Its 69.00 now but I got it when it was 42.00.Its great a little heavy with the bulk but not bad.

Did you get the case yet? If so could you upload a few pics of it installed and what you think of it.
Thanks!!!

FedEx delivery of the case is for this Monday, before 4:30pm EST. Rest assured, there will be plenty of pics to go along with my review.
Just got the Otterbox Defender case for my Note Pro 12.2, with a bonus dry box case. For $119.95 i expected an extremely impact resistant case. Needless to say, Otterbox did a masterful job.

The case is made up of 4 pieces. 3 high impact plastic parts and 1 very thick and heavy rubber sleeve. Once fully assembled, your note 12.2 is transformed into a most impressive road warrior.
Snapping the first 2 parts that compose the inner is case easy, just line up the ports and press down firmly until all the locking tabs engage. The screen protector rests about 1-2 millimeters above the screen, makes swipe gestures and screen taps easily, with no trampoline effect.
After that, grab that thick rubber sleeve and wrap it around your Note Pro, until all the ports are sealed up nice and tight.
Then place it securely in the outer case/stand and your done.
Hey there! Thank you for the review and pics!
I noticed on the otterbox page it lists this case being for the note pro 12.2 and the tab pro 12.2
I'm trying to figure out how it can work for both tablets when only 1 has spen.
My question is... can you access the spen from the case? It looks like it is accessible from the rubber part of the case but that the final piece snapped on covers it?
And, what the heck? People who buy it for a tab 2 just have an extra hole with no purpose but it's ok because the last piece covers it anyway?
I can't quite tell from the pics and info is very scarce on these! Best buy has it listed on their page but sold out online for $109 however it only lists it as being for the tab pro 12.2.
Strange indeed.
Once you place the note in the outer case/stand, you can NOT access the s-pen. I would assume otterbox would omit the spen access port on the tab pro but i cant say for sure. In the second part of this review, i will go over some more features and specs. For instance, there are several useful positions you can use. The manual shows most of them.
Be aware that once fully assembled the defender case effectively triples the overall weight to over 1500g or 3.2 pounds. Its heavy but feels supremely secure.
Here are the most useful landscape positions. Perfect for lap use, Extremely stable. The are 2 portrait positions as well. The wedge effect otterbox uses to secure your note in the stand is very effective. I never felt as if the entire setup would tip over and fall. And if it falls, so what. The complete package feels like it could survive a fall down a mountain lol.
The hinge otterbox uses is very sturdy plastic and folds flat when not in use, allowing you to place your note pro in the case, face up or down. And yes the defender case increases the thickness to about 1 1/4 inches.

Post the case you have/will get for your Idol 3

I've been doing some digging around. So far there are a lot of holster cases and phone carrying cases out there but I am more of a minimalist so I have kept searching. In the past 24 hours, I did see the following cases which caught my eye:

Clear Frosted Cased
I like the black case overall, but the fact that the Clear Frosted case has 'Idol' engraved on it gives it extra appeal. Personally I'm hoping that a bumper is released soon so that I can show off the fancy back to the Idol 3
I usually go naked nowadays, but I was eyeing the official Alcatel clear shell. Looks pretty thin, and only $12.

Yeah I liked that one a lot. I hope that they release some more pics of it closer to the release just to be sure.
I have gone without a case here and there but a few reviewers have mentioned the phone can feel slippery at times and so I don't want to risk it.
Going naked with this one. That's the great thing about it being cheap! I did tweet Slick Wraps if they had any plans about supporting this phone. They said they will see how popular it is and they will decide. Imagine black leather on the back of this!
Ever since I got into less expensive unlocked phones I don't use cases much. I get to enjoy the phones as they were meant to be. I have been using a HUAWEI Ascend Mate 2, ZTE ZMAX, and LG L90, all without cases or screen protectors.

I do think that screen protectors are the biggest scam unless you buy a phone with the intention of reselling it every time.

Seriously? When I buy a used phone, the condition of the screen is the single biggest factor to me! Not to mention that some devices feel better to the finger with a tempered glass protector installed. It seems a very logical investment in $5-$10 to get a good screen protector right away.
---------- Post added at 05:03 PM ---------- Previous post was at 04:46 PM ----------
To your original question, I'm going to at least put on a cheap TPU case on the new Idol 3 (if indeed I end up keeping it). Since it's slippery and already thin, a slim case will be a helpful, unobtrusive addition. But there's not much out there just yet.

That is the point I am making. For me, the only purpose of a screen protector imo is for resale value. Outside of that I feel like it is a detriment to the aesthetics/user experience.

Idol is not engraved, but rather "showing" through from the back of phone. Check the other pictures and you will see no engraving. I have ordered this; going to check the fit with the case in my Seidio SURFACE Holster for Samsung Galaxy Note 3. Currently using this holster for my OPO with a Diztronic Full Matte Black Flexible TPU Case for OnePlus One and it is a good fit. I find the 5.5." display phones (I didn't say phablet on purpose!) do better in a holster rather than my pocket. Just a preference thing I guess.
naked all the way, the idol 3 is really thin and I'd like to keep it that way. I've had the moto g naked and just a few small scratches. the idol 3 has dragontail glass which should prevent scratches anyway

Dragontail should prevent scratches, I'm more concerned about drops because the backing of the phone is a tad bit slippery based on a few reviews.
that case don"t look that bad,,how about tempered glass?
Ended up buying a cheapo case from eBay as well as the official case from Alcatel's website. The weird thing about the website is that it doesn't allow you to put anything into your shopping cart until you create an account.
Very good

Don't suppose you'd share which case you purchased and was it from overseas? I'm trying to find a cheap transparent hard back case but would consider others....I'm trying to avoid having to wait 30+ days for a case from overseas when my phone should be here in a week or so.
Also does anyone have suggestions for a rugged leather belt holster? I'm unsure what other model phone's have a similar enough footprint as there don't appear to be any out for the idol 3 yet.

My original post has a link to the eBay purchase from overseas (China) that I made. Other than that, I got the translucent hard case directly from Alcatel. Neither have arrived yet. If you are in a hurry, the original post I made (LK case from Amazon) apparently ships quickly. I saw a few people on reddit/slickdeals who said that they have received their cases already. Also, I'd dig deeper into Amazon if you are interested in a belt holster. I may have seen one or two of those on there but I didn't post it up since I don't wear belt holsters.
My $3.99 eBay case came in the mail yesterday (7 days after placing my order). I might cancel my $11 official shell case order from Alcatel because this looks like it'll do the trick. Gotta get the phone and see how it feels first I suppose, but I like the feel of the matte on the back as well as how the translucent sides contrast the matte back. Makes it look less cheap than a completely translucent model. Also, no company labeling on the case which is something that turned me off of the LK cases on Amazon.
The dual layer lightning knight or whatever one doesn't fit right for me.
I'm happy w/ the frosted clear Lightning King case. The fit is perfect, and the buttons function very well. TPU cases I'e had on old phones always made actuating the buttons difficult, but not this one.
I'd really like a transparent TPU case, but I think the official Alcatel one plastic rather than TPU, since it's a "shell".
Amazon cacnceled official case order
I had pre-ordered the official Alcatel transparent case from Amazon, today got notice from Amazon that they have to cancel the order. Amazon status now shows not available. Anyone actually manage to get one of these cases, from Amazon or direct from Alcatel?

THINNEST full coverage Case and it's only $5!

So far I've tried over 7 cases and this is the THINNEST case you can get for the S7 and it offers full coverage. It is like having a nearly bare phone. The dot pattern on the back is great because it prevents the glass from sticking to the plastic giving it that wet look. The case I got has a great fit and the front lip hugs the phone well on all sides. If you are looking for a clear phone to really show off the galaxy s7 while having the least amount of bulk possible this is the case to get, not to mention it is only $4.98 on Amazon. You can check the case HERE on some angles you can't even tell there is a case on the phone.
If you need drop protection and need an otterbox type of bulk protection this is definitely not for those users, but for those who just want the least amount of bulk w/ a bit of protection and full coverage around the bezels, this is a great little case.
I just got the spigen thin fit (exact fit). it looks just as thin as the above case and also is open on top and bottom so becomes even more minimal. for those that care about protecting the back glass but not parts of the frame. got it on sale for $5 plus shipping...

Thanks for finding this OP, I just ordered one. I am not usually a case guy and tend carry my phones naked with just a carbon fiber skin added for grip. But with the S7 and its rounded back not proving well so far in early drop tests, I am looking for the thinnest case possible - already ordered 3 of them.
The Spigen looks great, but I'd prefer the tops to be covered also if I am going to have a case on. When phones fall, the top bezel usually gets nicked. (ask my S6E )
OP - Does the packaging say how thin this case is in mm? I got the Spigen Clear Crystal that's supposedly 0.5 mm, another on eBay that's supposedly 0.3mm and have also seen others on eBay that claim 0.2 mm. Curious.

The wireless chargers work through Otterboxes, so yeah as long as the case is not metallic or ridiculously thick it will still work.
I got my gmyle case the OP told us about and put it on today. I am very impressed. Truly a slim case, it's thin enough to show off the curved back glass. I have 2 more coming in the mail, but this one's the best of the 2 I have tried so far (Spigen clear crystal before this and the gmyle is way better, way thinner).
Thanks for sharing OP.

I ordered this one a few weeks ago http://www.ebay.com/itm/291687582792?_trksid=p2060353.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT
Looks similar except for the camera cutout, in some of the pics it does look pretty slim and it also look like it has a curve on the back. It should be here any day now.
I got the red shield slim case.
To bad I didn't stumble upon this thread sooner.
Looks similar to the gmyle peachpuff. For reference, here are two other slim cases I ordered - note the ebay one says "0.3 mm" ? If you search hard enough on ebay, you can now find as low as "0.2 mm" thickness. The Spigen TPU case for comparison is 0.5 mm.
The eBay one and the bomea one haven't gotten here yet. My idea for the bomea hard case is to wrap it in carbon fiber slick wraps which I already have waiting. But the bomea hard case is not thin enough to show off the curved back, which is a bummer.
We will see, but so far I am extremely happy with the gmyle case. Never been a case guy (always carried the phones naked with just a slick wrap) but with a case as thin as this one, the benefits of having a case outweigh the disadvantages.

OK guys, the "bomea" case came in, and it is gorgeous!
It doesn't protect the top and bottom, but I think I am OK with it, since the back glass seems to be the most fragile part of this phone (from drop tests so far).
Not covering the bottom means that it fits within the Gear VR perfectly. Which is an added bonus.
It is even thinner and less obtrusive than the "gmyle" case if that's possible.
It does show the curved back, which I was not expecting so that's a bonus.
It feels really nice in the hands too (soft texture). bomea and the gmyle are both keepers.
Bought an unbranded case identical to that for $1.40 from ebay

I'm using the Ringke Slim. Had one on a previous S4 and really liked it. Super thin but enough of a lip to elevate the screen when flipped over on a desktop.
I had ordered one of the $ .99 TPU cases from eBay but that may be weeks until it shows up.
