Official Samsung Note 3 Flip Cover Battery Door - Galaxy Note 3 Accessories

I just bought my Note 3 from T-Mobile USA, and I'm loving it.
I attend UCLA, and Samsung was having a promotion here where they were giving out flip covers to Galaxy device owners.
I chose the black one to match my device, but they offered to give me either the white or pink one tomorrow.
The fake leather is pretty nice, but it does feel a bit more plastic-y than the battery door the phone came with.
It clips on pretty easily, and there is even 1 card slot inside the cover.
The edges of the door and the cover actually stick out about 5mm past the edges of the phone; I suspect that
will help with very short drops. It doesn't make the phone much thicker either.
I doubt this is really a big deal to anybody though, haha.
I wanted to get a picture of it on the phone, but my Note 3 is the only camera I have in my dorm.

Wish it had the Samsung logo on the back in the silver writing like on original back cover but looks good

M8 isn't this the wireless charged flip cover and not the simply one? I ask because i see in the inner back side 2 pins and it seems some cabling underneath
Sent from my SM-N9005 using Tapatalk 4

Im guessing thats for the s view to work? Or could be the nfc?
Sent from my SM-N9005

It should definitely be the wireless charging S-cover

I'm thinking now that isn't the charging version because I don't see a view window. I don't know why a plain flip cover needs the electrical contacts, but I've never looked at the plain flip covers for the other models either.

Kick Stand case for Samsung Galaxy NOTE 3
Well I am also looking for a wallet case for my Note 3 but for till then I have pre ordered this Kick Stand case from Fommy as cant take Risk with Note 3 at any condition so just going for this one right now...will be receiving it on October 10 as it is stated in the mail..so surely gonna put up the pics and reviews the moment I will receive it

Those pins are for the wireless charging. The NFC antenna is inside the battery.

It is looking very cool.

I think that the wireless charging cover has more pins. Those two are just for waking up the display when the flip is opened.

Isn't it the magnet that wakes it up?
I was under the impression the pins tell the phone a case is there and when/how to modify the display. On a genuine Samsung cover the phone even knows what color the case is, or so I read.

Dont get it.. its not as useful as i hope. NOthing like the Smart Cover, it has only 2 set ups both in landscape, it doesnt cover the back, and its an hassle to use while charging. Also if you plan on getting the keyboard dock also it would be useless
I agree, it sucks hard. Sending mine back next week.

that bad huh? guess ill pass on these.
wow, if its that bad maybe I should send mine back too, its coming tomorrow, but what alternatives are there that aren't bulky?
I actually like it. Not sure what problem with charging while it's attached, mine is easily plugged in. I like it because it's nice and thin, and I'm not terribly worried about the back getting scuffed up. I might be unusual in that regard, tho.

I find it very useful. Use my TP about 7-9 hours a day straight and it works in great form presentations to movies to typing. It'd all how u want to look at it. If you think it's garbage you will see it only like that. I have a backside protector and it won't ever scratch etc. You just can't charge it while it's in the high position.

How easy can you unhook the cover? I'd like to get it to protect the screen from my cats stepping on it while at home, but put the Prime in a leather case when traveling with it.

have also the original sleeve and indeed when set it meanwhile charging it is not stabill and stands on the plug. Also when not charging its falls easy when on a glidy surface its cajooling to keep it standing. So regret bought it

the hinges on my sleeve literally fell a part. the metal hinges also left scuff marks and a square shaped chip on the back of my prime.

I have a back protector but I understand the marks on the back.. I can see it slightly on my protector..
I put thick tape where the hinges would go but I dont like the cheap feel of it and for 40 bucks I already asked for RMA.

Already got the Asus sleeve from amazon and the first think I did before I applied was to put some thick tape on the hinge. After that also putted a very small pice on the back of the tablet and now is working great I don't have the risk of any scratch type.
I think is a good product with its flaws but it's overpriced

[Q] Samsung Infuse Car Dock and the Optimus G

I know this seems odd, but does anyone here have an old Samsung Infuse car dock that they could test and see if the Optimus G will work in? According to the dimensions, the Optimus G is in between the Infuse and the Galaxy S III. The GS3 fits into the Infuse car dock, so I bet the Optimus G will fit. If so that would be awesome since the Infuse car dock is dirt cheap.
Also, I noticed the Optimus G floor model at AT&T came pre-loaded with the Car Home app. So maybe they are working on an OEM car dock anyways.
Thanks
Shawn
I'd like to know as well; it actually might work with a case based upon the thickness specs.
I'll let you know, I ordered one for 5$.

Cool, thanks!
My optimus came in today and I was able to modify the car dock to make the optimus g fit. It took a good amount of dremilling to make it fit and isn't the prettiest job, but it works and the usb lines up and charges the phone.

As you can see I did a hack-job on this.... I think I need some better/different dremel attachments.
But, this shows that it is possible to get the Samsung Infuse car dock for next to nothing and you can make it work.
By the way, the extra hole in the dock was for the speaker on a SGS3.
Thanks for posting this.
Where did you get the dock for cheap?
Does the aux out function from the dock work with the optimus?
Sent from my LG-E970 using xda app-developers app
It looks like you got it to fit without a case. Do you think there is enough material in the dock to take more out to get it to fit with something like the BodyGlove case?
Update:
Found a Infuse case at an AT&T store. Paid 5 bucks for it. The phone will fit the case if you take a pair of pliers and bend the corners back a bit. I find it works best to bend the corners close to the charging base more than the corners on the other side.
Also, there is no audio out from the mount. You have to plug the aux cable into the phone to get it to work.

I don't think this will work with any case. There really is not a whole lot of wiggle room, and the micro-usb part of the dock that slides into the phone has to align perfectly.

Official Samsung S-View Case not working for me :(

On a whim I walked into a T-Mobile store while driving to Orlando when we stopped for Starbucks just to see if they had any cases and there was the elusive S-View in black and white. I signed into Foursquare for 30% discount plus did the buy 2 get one free and in essence got the case and screen protectors for my N3 and my daughter's iPhone 5, the guy put them on for us all for 60 dollars total.
I love the case but I can't get it to do anything except wake up and shut down the screen when opening and closing, no S-View windows, clocks etc. I went into settings where there's a couple of options under accessories and nothing. I thought it might be the rom so I flashed stock, Darthstalker and Myrom to no avail. Any idea how I get it to work or maybe just a bad chip in my case? Fyi I mentioned how hard it is to get these cases and the manager told me they are a Galaxy Headquarters store , they had a special Galaxy counter and display as well.
I have to drive back to Orlando Sunday so if its not working still I will stop in and try another case and hopefully that will work unless there is something simple I'm missing, he put the case on for me and I should have tested out the functions there but we were already 30 minutes behind schedule, I got the white case for my white N3. For anyone in the South Florida area its the store in Port St. Lucie just off 95.
I can only guess that the 3 roms from development took out the S-View apk if there is one or I have a defective case.
Check the case. I just came from the store and they had 3 bad cases. On the right hand side there is supposed to be 2 metal pins. We checked out 8 cases and 3 were missing the pins or weren't glued down.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N900A using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Yeah check if it has the metal pins on the back. I bought one from AT&T that didn't have the pins glued down and I had to return it
Maybe this is why Samsung issued a recall for some of the cases.
Someone mentioned it on this board a couple of days ago.
Samsung QC is getting pretty terrible..
Samsung releasing the Note 3 without OEM accessories is pretty bad imho. Finding a case in London and Manchester including the Samsung Experience store at Stratford is next to impossible.

The pins look fine, after using it for two days even if it had worked I'm going to get my 60 dollars back, guess I'm just not liking the functionality of having to use two hands with this type of case. Also the flap tends to stay ajar quite a bit, I'm just going to stick with the Caseology case that was waiting in the mail when I got home tonight, cost a few dollars and it looks and feels perfect to me.
Thanks for the responses guys.

Well I ended up exchanging it and this one worked immediately. I was all set to just get my money back but it's just too cool, switched to a black case just because it won't show dirt.

i had one and they are ****. sorry to be frank, but honestly, for 65 bucks, that stupid thing should have a magnet to stay closed. my brand new phone would be going on and off all day long because the flap would open and close. as soon as i'd use the phone it would stay open, or bounce a bit... whenever i moved it, sure enough, the screen turns on because it opens and closes again
totaly crap samsung... if you aren't going to have a magnet, then at LEAST make it out of something that won't try to hold the damn thing open
i give this thing 1 star, and the only reason it gets that is the idea itself is pretty cool... too bad the implementation felates a horse

A Cautionary Tale told by JBEITEL

So I bought this killer red metal battery cover from mobilefun. When I got it I realized it had no 4g antenna in it. I would only get 3g and 1x. I suspect it was made for foriegn models that dont use 4g. Anyway, buyer beware on overseas accessories.

something doesn't make sense here... The 4G antenna on our note 3 is internal... you would have to remove a dozen screws and crack the case open to get to it ... there are no components in our stock N3 battery cover
Maybe it was because the metal case was blocking enough signal to kill your 4G reception but definitely not because an antenna was missing.
antenna shown in this picture .... you can see the white cable running around the battery compartment and plugged into the 4G antenna's U.FL connector

Yeah the antenna is not build into the battery cover. The metal cover was blocking the signal. If you get a metal case or cover most of the time it will block some kind of signal.
That sounds logical. Thanks. But what are the other two spots that push on the pins? Maybe nothing. They look plastic

I guess the cautionary tale then would be don't buy metal. Lol

those don't push on to any pins... look closer to what they line up with when the cover is installed... directly under the headphone jack... they are SD card lockers to keep your micro from backing out of the slot on a drop.
Right and all the pins are for wireless charging and for the flip cover, that's the three pins on the side. The top two pins on the back of the phone are for NFC antenna. If you get a wireless charging cover. The 4G antenna is at the top right corner of you have the phone face down.

I would think a metal back cover might increase the signal not decrease it?

3g is way better. Went from -115dbm to -85dbm. But that does me no good without 4g

Cases, sleeves, holsters...

None To be found yet!
I have had a terrible time finding a case solution. I've been all over the online stores looking and came up empty. The only options available seem to be from AT&T. They are way too expensive! :crying:
Ideally, I want a set that works together. Like the black one on AT&T.
Yeah i have the asus folio set. A friend works for AT&T so i got half off and still was $40

Padfone X cases
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Hybrid-Plas...Stand-Holster-Asus-PadFone-X-CC-/371106238649
I have bought this one, not too bad. This Ebay store has other cases for the Padfone X also. I'm happy with this one.
too bad that cant fit into the station...
I purchased one from Amazon, they have many derivatives and colors of this one, just search for "LF 4 in 1 Bundle Padfone X" and you should get several hits.
The one at the AT&T Store from Incipio is TERRIBLE and a very poor value for money. I purchased it and ended up returning it because it was just poor quality and actually did not protect the phone from drops etc. It was just a face cover.
FYI
The Seidio spring-clip holster for the LG G3 (without case) fits nearly perfectly - just need a small adhesive rubber bumper on the top clip to prevent the slight movement as the G3 is slightly taller but otherwise nearly the same dimensions as the PX (the kind you stick on the bottom of things to prevent scratching/movement).
With a little creative use of a Dremel, the Incipio station cover works with the mobile dock.
I ould have done better on one side, but it will do for now.
