Issues with lock screen - AT&T LG Optimus G

I'm not sure if this is a handcent specific issue, but I am on CM10.2 and since installing handcent the lock screen does not always function properly. It will at times not lock no matter how many times I hit the power button. The screen will turn off, but when the screen turns back on I am not prompted to enter a pin# before opening my phone.
I'm wondering if anyone else has had this issue with handcent. I'm going to probably remove it just for the sake of litmus testing, but has anyone found a work around if this occurs for others?

Anytime a problem surfaces from an app install you should remove the offending app and see if the issue goes away. Likely the app is FUBAR but you won't know until you test.

As for handsent I have had issues with it before in the past such as it keeping my phone from sleeping and sending messages without me involved. I stopped using it back when ICS was first out.

The phone did freeze up on me a couple times, but not too often. Just make sure you did a clean install..again it's a beta and isn't complete or perfect. Are you overclocked/undervolting? What values? How many apps are you running, there's just so much that can cause the freeze...Regarding the buttons, yes they do not light up...yet.
Yeah it happens every now and then, particularly when transitioning in the stock android car dock app.
I really wish I could hold power + volume up to reset (like I do on my Xoom) instead of pull the battery but oh well.

They work if you turn on autobrightness on screen and reboot then they will work, but when brightness is manually set they don't work by default. As for the random reboots id try a clean wipe of everything and fresh install if it happens regularly. I haven't had a single instance where i've had to pull battery since the release of this beta.

You don't actually HAVE to pull battery, it will reset itself after a few minutes.. Mind you it takes literally a minute or two atleast, but it will nearly always reboot on its own if you leave it alone.

Home button needs pressing twice?

I've had the Galaxy S3 about 2-3 weeks now and running the latest stock firmware with nova launcher since the beginning but seem to have an issue with the home button. I'm finding when I'm in apps and want to exit them going back to the home screen by pushing the home button a lot of the time I'm having to press it twice, why is this? Is this a know issue? Could Nova launcher be causing this or even worse a hardware issue?
Sometimes it works fine but only usually after I've already double tapped it twice but comes back again after leaving the phone for a while. Can anyone shed any light on this?
Imho doublepush of the home button will cause Svoice to popup..

You're correct however I'm not pushing it quick enough for this to happen. I’m literally pushing it realising after a second or so it's not returning me to the homescreen and then having to push it again & it works.
I tried a second delay and you are right, it wont pop up. Definitely something with rom.

It's not popping up S-Voice which is the problem here, it's me returning to the homescreen from within apps, I push the home button from within an app to return to the homescreen only for nothing to happen hence why I have to push it a second time.

I do have to say though...
Disabling shortcut (click home button twice to launch S Voice) makes the home button responsive a lot better.
You can try that...

Note SMS/mms vibration trouble

I tried to search to see if anyone else had the issue, but all I could come up with was different problems. My phone, all original Samsung ics, has stopped vibrating upon SMS and MMS notifications when the phone is in the vibrate setting, the phone works fine. Audible notifications work fine, but I rely on vibrate/silent a lot, and this is agitating. Does anyone have any ideas what I can do to fix it, or should I just take this opportunity to root it and hope it works out? Thanks in advance!

The AT&T version/LTE. Yes, the feedback, plus typing does work fine. Same with the phone ringer as well. Every once in a while the home key vibrates a bit long/harder than usual, but aside from that everything else is fine.

Okay, we are going to do a rest, go to Google play and download handcent its a SMS app, use it to text someone while set on vibrate. If that vibrates or not let me know. If is does, its a problem with your stock SMS if it doesn't still, make sure all vibrate settings are on (there is quite a few) if no again, you will have to hard reset it, everything will be erased, remember to remove memory card, and finally if that doesn't work, its the phone, either get it looked at or you may just have to deal. Rooting has perks, it also could fix this problem (not promising anything on that tho lol)

I'm sorry, I should have specified, I already did try handcent and gosms I think it was? Both work fine! I have been trying to avoid hard resets/erasing everything because I didn't want to lose some stuff I have setup, it is always so tedious! Haha. Anyhow, I think it is the native messaging app, I just figured maybe it had happened prior to someone else, and there was some possible fix without having to go through all that setup again! I guess I'm done being able to avoid it. Haha
Thanks for all the help, I do appreciate it!
Well, installing and removing those other SMS apps a few times seems to have "fixed" it, and all my vibration notifications are back again!

galaxy s3 major bug, bypass lockscreen

press the emergency call
then click emergency contact button
then press the home key then power
then press power again screen will be unlocked
is this fixed yet?
It won't unlock your phone. You can see home page for 0.01sec ....
No issue to me

I can't verify it atm but according ho published articles, one in many attempts will present you with an unlocked screen.
However no article I read elaborated on whether the issue is in the framework or lockscreen - so if it affecte the default lockscreen or any custom ones too.

It will unlock your phone and you have to reboot it for the ability to use the lock screen to come back.
I could reproduce this twice on my phone but not on a colleagues despite multiple attempts. Both UK unlocked, latest firmware.
Im running 4.2.1 leaked version and wasn't able to reproduce the bug.
It did crash my phone though
I've done this multiple times and I was unable to unlock my phone. I'm only able to see the home screen for a split second but then it goes back to the lock. I got different people to try and unlock the screen but to no avail.
Unrooted S3
same here , only shows home screen less than second , only thing you can do is click one applications but you won't even see it open. except you have quick dial widget on homescreen which will annoy your friend, that's all...

and it is not major bug , only something like SDS or Exynos security problem are called MAJOR ...

So a couple of things.
1.) you're describing the behavior when you've failed to activate the real bug. Yes it shows the home screen, but if you time things correctly, the lock doesn't come back up.
2.) Leave auto rotation on, and try landscape mode. I found it was easier to hit that way.
3.) Tapping home then power at the right time takes some practice. You may have to try multiple times.
I was trying to unlock with the settings I always have (no screen rotation,.5 animation, etc). Not going to enable them just to see IF someone can unlock my phone. Plus I took 20 mins to try and unlock it with an additional 15 mins from my Husband and that didn't do the trick. I'm not willing to try and spend hours testing to see if my luck finally kicks in

Yeah, you did it wrong... Try it a few times, it'll work.... On all SIII's it'll work! If your homescreen appears 1 sec, you did it too slow!!
Greetings....

How fast are you supposed to do it then as I'm so fast sometimes it doesn't react at all.

Possible fix
It appears that this bug does not exist if you enable S-Voice by going into it's settings and checking the 'open via home key'. I was able to unlock 4 times on my GS3 while the 'open via home key' option was disabled. Once enabled, I have not been able to bypass unlock.

Yeah you must deactivate SVoice and then you must type in the wrong code until its locked for ten seconds... Then It'll work!!

Hi,
Samsung is really slow to react and push a fix on this case... On my opinion its a serious security issue and Samsung should react faster

[Q] slow keyboard

Is anyone else having to wait when typing fast on the keyboard? Or perhaps using a faster than stock keyboard?
When I type it lags behind and has trouble keeping up.
That's the only problem I have with the phone.

I don't have any keyboard issues. Which keyboard are you using? Google Keyboard or the Huawei keyboard?
Changing the power settings to normal fixed it for me.
Google keyboard.... But the last one got it... Just set power settings to normal and all is well with the world again
And some cracked apps make your phone sluggish, make sure to get apps on trusted site or store, when I format to factory default and just get apps from amazon, opera, Google store, runs smooth at it should be
The Google keyboard doesn't ever give me problems, but I've had to stop using Swype. It lags so badly it becomes completely unusable. I'll try changing the settings you guys mentioned because I really miss Swype.

yes, change to normal battery settings, phone still lasts 2+ days, and keyboards are just as fast.
