Verizon is changing data to 2GB on Preorders with Unlimited data, call 611 to restore - Verizon Galaxy Note 3 General

After activating the Note 3 - Verizon is changing data to 2GB on Preorders with Unlimited data, you have to call 611 to restore.
I just Got my Note 3, after activating from the web site my data plan changed to 2GB, had to call 611 and talk to supervisor and explain (ordered while the web site was allowing to Keep unlimited), took about 30 minutes (holding the line and explaining to the rep & supervisor), finally they put me back to unlimited.
Logged back to my account and verified that Unlimited is back, took a screen shot. Really frustrated with Verizon.
This is very bad on part of Verizon to do this way, they might be thinking that they can get away with this when customers do not notice the change.
F***k you Verizon
This happened with the sim card that came with the phone. However irrespective of which sim you use - I suspect it will change to 2GB, if you look at the customer receipt they sent - it listed 2GB.
Please post here the result with the existing sim, this will help others. Thanks.

is it the $20 or $30 unlimited ?

I'm worried about this exact thing. I'd be interested to hear if others are going through the same crap.

$30 unlimited.
But either way, just look at the customer receipt they sent with the phone and it should have 2GB listed.

oh whaattt?! really?! it says 2gb on the receipt it came with?!
douche bags.

I hope this does not kill my $20 Talk & Text plus data discount.

I was just on the phone with CS about something else (Fedex hasn't shown up yet) and she mentioned that it showed my order date as 10/7, when I ordered on the 9/28 I think it was. So I started asking about that and keeping my unlimited and she eventually told me that they are able to switch your account back to unlimited after activation, but they "advise against it because at some point the system will catch up and drop it from your account"...?!?!?
I'm definitely going to have them switch me back to unlimited, but has anyone else heard anything similar?
How about issues with a glitch weekend order showing that it went through on a different date?

Yep! Verizon is trying to **** us. Big surprise. I've been on the phone with them for nearly thirty minutes. At first, my rep played dumb. Then she came clean that she knew about the situation. Then she said I ordered one week later than I did, when the glitch wasn't active. She said I ordered after the glitch and didn't qualify to keep unlimited data. I had to prove to her I ordered two weeks ago, on Saturday.
Next, she said any account that had unlimited data kept unlimited data automatically, so I didn't qualify. She said my order had $30 data, not $29.99 unlimited data, so I never had unlimited data on my account. So I had to email her a SCREENSHOT I took, which I thankfully saved because I knew Verizon would try to **** us. If I hadn't saved that screenshot, I would have only had access to Verizon's fraudulent new receipt, which says my order included only 2gb of data. Good luck everyone.
I absolutely despise Verizon. I'd love to leave them, but they have the only cell tower on my small college campus.
I don't believe she can think of any other reason to take away my unlimited data. I suspect that once she comes back from her third hold, she will add unlimited data back on my account. ... Ugh.
EDIT: She said she was submitting her request to the department that can add these no longer available data plans. I asked for her name, email address, and a reference number. I'll use those just in case I don't hear back from her soon.
BTW, through out all this bull****, I was extremely polite and respectful. Kill them with kindness and they'll probably work with you instead of against you. Again, good luck to all.

I called vz, trying to get them to switch me back to unlimited. Even emailing them the original order confirmation and was told that I cannot keep my unlimited plan. Saying that anyone that was able to keep their unlimited plan after upgrading their phone was mistaken and they should check their accounts. What BS...going to a store to see if they can switch me back to unlimited. If not, Sprint, here come.

Use the contact link on this page for this lady.
http://aboutus.verizonwireless.com/leadership/executive/profiles/Marni_Walden.html
That will result in the executive care department calling you back. Next step would be a BBB complaint.

I ordered my Note3 during the glitch to keep unlimited also... just got it, the receipt says 2gb $30 data.
I'm upgrading from the Note2, so I removed the new SIM from the Note3, put my old SIM in the Note3, activated and made a test call.
I signed in to my vzw account, signed out and back in again and it still shows me for unlimited $30. Whew. Not sure if it'll stick, I'll keep my eye on it over the next 14 days.

I just dropped my old SIM card in and still have unlimited data online in my account. I ordered using the glitch. So far so good and no hassle. I half expect to find my account changed in a few hours.

Just switch sim cards and you are good. Why did you activate it with the new sim?

Stuck in the old SIM from my Note 2 without activating and my account still shows $23.39 (corp discount on $29.99) 'unlimited data'. Will be keeping an eye on that sucker. Avoid activating the new SIM.

I called and they revert me back on unlimited data...

It might not have changed for now, but you should keep an eye on your account, Verizon eventually might detect IMEI of the new phone and link to the order and change the data plan to 2GB, as per the customer receipt came with the phone - looks like all of these pre-orders are processed on 10/07 (even though we ordered during 09/27 - 09/30) and shows data plan of 2GB.
It's probably better to get this issue fixed now rather then waiting for the issue to occur in future, because by then Verizon probably will pretend that there is no unlimited data glitch upgrade.

[Resolved] AT&T killed my texting plan

When I got my GSII a week ago Sunday, the store rep assured me that my voice, data and messaging plans were all intact and good to go. I have the $5-200 messaging plan, since I don't use texting that often — 100 or so on a heavy month.
Today I was told that a cow-orker had sent me a text calling off work tonight. I didn't receive the message, so I tried sending him one, but didn't get a reply. I asked another person to send me a message, but with no result.
I went to the AT&T store, where they said for some unknown reason when my account was switched to the new phone, my messaging capabilities were killed outright. Because AT&T has decided that $20 unlimited messaging is the only true path to follow, the store reps have no option for re-adding my grandfathered plan. As it turns out, their overlords on the phone also aren't allowed to put it back.
They told me my options were to either go per-use or pay for the $20 plan. I told them their options were to give me back my old plan, credit my account for $360 (the $15 difference in plans for 24 months) or cancel my new contract so I can go to Verizon.
Another phone call later, the rep tells me that my problem has been moved up the chain and that some supreme overlord has to make the decision to reinstall my $5 plan. She said my plan should be restored on Thursday and that my per-use texts until then will be credited. It still sounds suspiciously like "<BLEEP> you and your crummy low-use texting."
Updates as they occur.

Good for you, all three of these choices seem logical (not excessive) and for good reason. AT&T messed up, they need to make it right.
Or you could get free unlimited texting by using one of those free texting apps. I personally used Textfree and textPlus. I prefer textPlus much more because it actually notifies me when I receive a new message, unlike Textfree. It also looks better IMO. Of course all of these apps will use data, but it's neglectable since it uses so little.

Let us know how this resolves this is pretty bogus, but you are handling it a lot better then I would that is for sure.
I wonder if one can actually live w/o SMS plan at all? I mean you have google talk / email - covers the same... I noticed since on Android I tend to not use sms at all.
just a thought.
They did the same thing to me with my unlimited internet 3 months ago when i switched from my iphone 4 to the captivate while i was waiting for the Sgs2 to come out... Then 3 weeks ago they said i burned thru the 2gb a month plan they had put me in, in less than 2 days and also the extra 1gb they give you for 10 dollars... Im a very heavy user and i even tether and even in one year in one whole month i never got to 2gb... Finally when i said i wasnt dealing with that and i was going to cancel my account and head to sprint out of nowhere the "manager" can credit my account and put my unlimited plan that they took off 3 months ago

I feel as though I have to be polite and controlled, otherwise my unlimited data plan will disappear.
It may indeed be time to consider a move to data-based SMS.
To be fair, it doesn't seem like it's AT&T's fault, but rather the retailer you got your phone from. Unless it was an AT&T retail store (Not an authorized retailer)..
But regardless, your suggestions are pretty logical, and aren't too hard to give from AT&T.
But I'm pretty sure you're going to get your plan back. They still have it available to higher-ups to add on.
Yes, it was an AT&T store. I tried Wally World once and it was a fiasco. I prefer to deal with the company directly because of situations just like this. I think the store rep called it a "core store" when she made her first call.
I must say that the in-store people have always been friendly and helpful to me.

That's what happened.. because AT&T wasn't ready to do all the switches. I learnt my lesson about 5 years ago... NEVER go get a phone on the day of release as AT&T and Partners have NOT gotten their "system" in "sync"
Example, if I was to "keep" my "grandfather" unlimited plan, I HAD to wait till their system is in sync. Why I didn't get my SGS2 phone till Monday. Because on Sunday, THAT OPTION wasn't available. And they didn't know if people wanted to keep the "grandfather" unlimited the only option on that Sunday was for the sale rep to CALL AT&T and make that change, because no one from AT&T told them that either.
I had exactly the same problem happen to me (except I bought my phone from Amazon Wireless). The first time I called they "fixed" the issue by putting me on the $20 unlimited plan. Later, my wife called back (she's the mean one in these situations) and my $5 plan was restored immediately.
Hopefully everything works out for you as well.
My 200/5 was removed as well. The way it was explained was that BestBuy (where I did the upgrade b/c they have SGS2 in stock), did not have the ability to process/retain the old plan. I did online chat with ATT and they re-add the plan in 10 min.
I noticed that in my online account now shows a $35 Smartphone plan with 200 messages. But, my current plan is still shown as $30 smartphone and $5 200 messages plan.
Good luck.
This happened to a buddy of mine. He's on a recent messaging feature so he didn't have the problem that you did.
I'm beginning to despise AT&T. Every time you turn around, they're trying to change your plan or not revert it back if its removed for some reason. They claim they'll honor your ability to keep features/plans, but jump through hoops trying to do the opposite.
I got my phone Friday from BB and confirmed with the guy I wanted to keep everything like it was. Well I sent text messages to two friends of mines about 30 mins after I got my phone. Didn't hear back. Talked to them today and they said they didn't get the messages. I tried ago and they still didn't get them. I had one of them text me and I didn't get it. I than text myself and didn't get that either.
I called AT&T and they said that the reason I couldn't get or send text messages was because when I got my phone Friday my text option was removed. She said she wasn't sure if I could get my 200 for $5.00 plan back. She checked into it and called me back and sent me a text and said everything was set. I sent a test text to one of my friends and she got it. I also received a text from another friend so it works. It didn't take days to get it back. It took less than 1/2 hour.

Penny deal on Amazon make you have texting plan

I use gvoice so clearly I do not want a texting plan. Anybody had luck getting them to remove it? I emailed Amazon customer service. If they wont remove it, I am guessing I can get Verizon to remove it after I receive my first bill.
Suggestions?

You are getting a $300 phone for a penny, they are making that up with the texting plan. There is no such thing as a free lunch. You might be able to remove it, but Amazon might very well come back and charge you full price. You'll have to carefully read the fine print in the Amazon terms. Which texting plan do they make you get?
Very true. If that ends up being the bottom line, I can definitely live with it. They made each line have 1000 text plan for $10 for each line.
Still, If I can save $20 a month, I'm going to try.
Also going to get another $10 a month off my fios bill now that I'm a Verizon Wireless customer too.

Folks are saying any change to the plan during the first 181 days violate the terms and you will have to pay amazon's ETF (which I think is $250).

If you check out the other thread, I called Amazon Wireless today, and they said there's no ETF for changing your plan (upgrade or downgrade), as long as you keep the line open, with a data plan.

Are you sure about that last part, I have been told By a friend that works at verizon that data isnt tied to the plan. I looked through the terms and conditions on my order, also no mention of data. Only that the line stays active.
I had a friend call amazon today and tell them to point out the part in the terms that states you need to keep data. They couldnt find it.
I just got my rezound today, swapped service with my TB. And am going in tomorrow to take TB off and put a dumb phone on and cancel data.
I wonder how long it will take amazon to chage me if they are going to...?

true, data is not tied to the plan, but verizon has a requirement that any smartphone must have a dataplan. if they find out you do not, they will add it automatically for you.
Thats why im going to put a dumb phone on that plan and let it sit idle @ 9.99
I didn't notice any text messaging requirements, but I was just adding a line. It did have listed under family plans, both the mintues with unlimited texting and the minutes only.
I'm thinking the same thing about switching a dumb phone onto this line in a couple months after root is established.
Right now, I'm going to use my t-bolt has a hotspot on that line until I hit the 4gb limit every month (for my kindle fire). Once the rezound has root, I can just hotspot it.

can anyone verify for sure if you can change the phone on the line that amazon gave you? I'm not sure what business it is of theirs if we change the phone as long as we're on the line? Furthermore, what if we drop the phone and it breaks or lose it...are they going to charge us $250 for that as well?
Its been three months since this post. has anyone got charged by amazon for swaping lines and removing data??
If anyone actually read their amazon agreement it CLEARLY states, that you agree to keep the line of service active for no less than 180 days.
Use a little common sense people. Lets say your phone gets stolen and you don't have insurance. Amazon can't just randomly force/expect you to automatically have a backup phone that supports data/text just to satisfy their terms or they charge you an ETF. Legally speaking something like that would NEVER hold up in court unless they forced you to get deductible free insurance, which to my knowledge doesn't exist. Bottom line, read what you sign. This thread needs to be closed before it leads to needless paranoia.

I got my Rez for a penny on this deal and have not been charged anything and I moved the Rez over to a new line. I then put a dumb phone on that line and removed data and have not received any correspondence from Amazon whatsoever.
Put it this way...when I asked an Amazon rep about keeping my unlimited data on my line (the only option when purchasing the phone was 4GB/month) he said I need to call Verizon to make sure I kept it. He didn't have access to view my account.

You are correct . it states keep the line active no less than 180 days. However doesn't say anything about features, like data plan or the phone itself. It just says line of service. So what these guys are doing is keeping service on by putting a dumb phone on the line and pay$9.99 without data. However, wirefly doesn't mention about keeping data plans and not transferring phones among the family lines

Keep grandfathered unlimited when going from Inc to Rezound?

Yeah, you should be able to get the plan back in the store. Just go talk to someone to get it done.
Never should have been otherwise
Both verzion telesales and the stores will advise that you are automatically grandfathered. I am not sure how you managed to NOT be grandfathered, but you can call the 800 number too.

It's the fact that he did it online. I know what he's talking about. There's not an option online for unlimited. You have to select one of the tiered options. If he goes in the store or calls, he'll be able to get back on the plan.
I was told that when you activate the phone you'll get the unlimited back - that's how mine worked
Interesting- thanks for the replies.. Sucks that I don't have access to the main account so I'm really hoping that the activation kicks it back in. Dunno really if I'll have any way to check except for to have my friend login to the account a day or so after activation?

I upgraded online (same situation - family plan with four lines, two with unlimited data) and I can confirm that you ARE offered to keep your unlimited plan. I was required to change my sms plan. I used Amazon Wireless to upgrade about two weeks ago.
I have also heard that you lose unlimited once you've elected another plan. Evidently you can't go back.

Ur good man. I accidentally removed data from on of my lines (with unlimited data) and didn't realize what I did until later that day. I called to get it added back and yeah it took a couple hours to get it pushed through but I got my unlimited back.
You just have to have your buddy call and verify they kept your line unlimited. 4G is the business btw....you're gonna love it!
Thanks, I hope you're right.. The hardest part might be to actually get him to call.
Why do people keep thinking they'll lose unlimited, the talk was about people who cheated the system by calling and adding unlimited mobile hotspot and then going online and turning it off. We who have unlimited will not lose anything.
Sent from my ADR6425LVW using xda premium
The reason I think I'm losing it is cause he flat out told me he signed me up for 4gb cap and that there was no option for unlimited!
You can get it back at the store....but..
You can get it back at the store....but..You kinda have to raise a "stink". I specifically asked a sale person about it. I was told that he could get it back if I lost the "Unlimited" when I bought mine online. The online options tell you that "you are not compatible" If you have a grandfathered plan. When I got mine I just didn't check an option. My grandfathered plan came up at checkout. Good Luck.
I just asked the guy when I upgraded from my incredible to the Rezound if I still had unlimited data and he said yes, that's all I had to do.
Success! Struck out at VZW store they said they couldn't do it- then called cust service when I got home. Nice lady- she needed to call my friend to get account authorization (which was cool cause she didn't *have* to do that part). He approved, she approved and we're good. Thanks for all the stories/tips here in this thread. Don't know that I'll go over 4gb on reg basis but sure is nice not to have to think about it. Now that that's done- its time to have some mod fun.. time to hit the stickies in development...

[Q] buy without plan?

I'm trying to buy htc one from tmobile online without any plan, is there a way to do it?
It keeps saying "plan is required to complete this transaction"
Can't.

Can't as far as I know.

You have to have a line with Tmobile already. Sign into your account, go to "upgrade this line" and you can get the phone in your cart without a new plan.
Or you can just call Tmobile (you don't need an account with them to do this). They'll sell one to you over the phone and you won't need a plan.

I have a prepaid plan (T-Mobile Monthly4G $30 unlimited Web and text with 100 minutes of talk)
when I try to upgrade there it says "Your profile email address is missing or invalid. In order to upgrade, you must have a valid email address in your My T-Mobile profile"
email is correct, I guess the only option is order on the phone?

I got that too when I tried to upgrade through my own account. But I'm not the account holder. I logged into her account and was able to upgrade just fine.
I'd recommend calling though.

I did try call, lady said it will be only online, so I can't order on the phone..
It's ridiculous that phone carriers now force a data plan on you if you want to get a smartphone so I feel your pain. I go between my house and school and have WiFi in both places so I have no need for a data plan.
One time I kept complaining to a T-Mobile rep until she finally let me order the phone without adding data but I don't know if it would work again. Maybe call again and explain your situation over and over and maybe you'll have some luck like I did.

Do you have a Walmart in your area? I'm in Virginia and the only place where I live that carries T-Mobile is Walmart. You can buy it there but it's $650 but you can walk out with it without a contract.

I just recently switched my family plan to their new plan from a very old family plan that we've had for years.
Their most basic plan has 500mb of internet included (which is probably more than I use when I'm not on wifi).
You can buy one without a plan but the cost is 650. Not the 580 that everyone pays "with a qualified plan"

I was in the same boat as you. I have the $30 plan and an activated pre paid SIM.
I went through the same struggles with the online ordering and customer service. Finally I decided to just buy it as a new line because since I was paying full price I could just cancel the service and keep the phone. I got the order in but there is some kind of fulfilling glitch and my order has been stuck in processing for a week.
Getting tired of dealing with incompetent people on the phone, I started to look around for a store that was carrying the One and I finally found a store in Arlington, VA. I drove out there and was able to buy one in person with little difficulty. The only issue was what somebody mentioned earlier, they wanted me to buy a service plan and I told them no I just wanted to use the plan I currently had. He eventually let me do that but the phone still ended up costing $609 + Tax. I asked why the price was higher and he couldn't tell me. I called T-mobile to get some clarification and they couldn't tell me so I asked around on Twitter and got a response from T-Mobile. They offered to credit me back the $30 difference so overall I am pretty happy.
BTW, the $30 plan works great with the phone. I even get some actual 4G LTE sporadically here in DC.
Good luck with getting the phone. It's definitely worth it.
Yea, I used to have the same problem...

[Guide] How to upgrade without losing unlimited data.

So nowadays with the release of the s5, M8 and the pending LG G3, everybody wants to upgrade their phone, but nobody wants to lose unlimited data. very understandable and there is a method that works perfectly!
Yes we all know that you can buy a phone at full retail price, but who the hell wants to do that? the following instuctions is legal and should work without question.
First and foremost, if you are on the share everything plan you can exit this post because you are already screwed. furthermore if at any point in time you change your plan to the share everything plan all of your unlimited data lines will be gone forever. So don't do it.
Before we start there are a couple prerequisites you need to know.
1) You must still have an unlimited data line that you want to keep.
2) You MUST have a tiered data line on the same account. It does not matter if its a 3g phone or 4g phone. As long as it does not have unlimited data. Yes, you can add an additional line to your account to make this work if all lines are unlimited. However, you will have to pay the activation cost and $30 a month for the next two years or as long as you want to keep the additional line for this purpose. This trick obviously works better if you have a tiered data line cause then your bill will not increase and you will get the same results.
So, without further ado, here it is:
The only time you lose unlimited data is when you either A, switch to the share everything plan or b, upgrade the LINE that has unlimited data. It does not matter where the upgrade comes from, only what line is upgraded. I will provide an example at the end of the post.
1) go to the Verizon store and upgrade you're non unlimited data line to the phone you wish to purchase. Even if that particular line does not have an upgrade you can use an upgrade from any other line even if they have unlimited data. Just make sure that the phone that is upgrade is not the unlimited data line. so now you have used an upgrade from any line on your account to purchase your discounted phone. The phone that you have just bought should be on the line that does not have unlimited data.
2) after you have done that and paid for the phone you simply ask the representative to do a device only change. you put the just purchased phone on whatever number you want it to be on and put the original phone from the non unlimited data line back on the original line. Depending on the store you may have to buy an additional SIM card but you now have a brand new upgraded and discounted phone on your unlimited line and your non unlimited line is exactly as it was when you walked in the store. And that is well worth the price of a SIM card. So essentially, you have just upgraded your unlimited data line to a new phone without losing your data plan or costing you any extra money(minus if u had to buy a sim card).
If you are not familiar with Verizon plans for how this works it may seem complicated. I have provided an example below to make things easier. Feel free to PM me if you need any extra help.
I have spent a decent amount of time writting this guide and A LOT more time responding to posts and PM's. As of 11/19/2013 this thread has been viewed over 21,000 times and only 11 people have taken the time to press the "Thanks" button. Going forward, if you can't take 3 seconds out of your day to kindly rate the thread and/or hit the thanks button , then please don't expect me to answer a 3 paragraph question about your upgrade. This is a reasonable request in my opion. Thanks.
Example
Plan: 2phones 1 w/unlimited (we will call it the gs3)
1 w/2gb data plan( we will call it the Note2)
Availible upgrades: gs3 has an upgrade, note2 does not
1) do an alternate upgrade which means you're using your gs3 lines upgrade to upgrade the note 2 line to whatever phone you want, we will say the GS4.
2) after you do your alternate upgrade you should now have A GS 3 with unlimited data and a GS 4 with a 2 gig data plan.
3) ask the representative 2 then do a device only change and move the GS 4 to the line with the gs3 and unlimited data. put the gs3 sim card in the GS 4 and that line is good to go.
4) now, ask the representative to put the note 2 back on its original line, the one with the two gig data plan. put the original sim card from the note 2 back in the note 2. your SIM card that came with the GS 4 upgrade is now extra. you won't be able to use it for a day or so but you can hang on to it for future use.
5) you should now have a GS 4 with unlimited data and a note 2 with 2 gig data.
This is a very simple procedure unless you get a complete idiot at the store you should have no problem doing so. to the best of my knowledge you can upgrade as many phones using this method on the same account as you want. AS LONG AS YOU DO NOT UPGRADE AN UNLIMITED LINE DIRECTLY YOU WILL BE FINE. My only suggestion is, don't abuse it. don't try to upgrade 3 phones the same day using this method. As I said before, it's not illegal but I'm pretty sure verizon would not be happy with people abusing this loophole so space your upgrades apart a little bit.
I have upgraded to phones on my plan in the last 9 months doing this very message and have had no problems at all. I hope this post helps some people out! The only thing that sucks worse than not upgrading your phone is losing your data or paying $690 for a retail price device. HAPPY UPGRADING!!
Please note, as of August 24, 2014, Verizon changed their policy. Any line upgraded to a smart phone must keep the data package for the 2 year length of the contract. There for, performing the switch with a basic line means it becomes a data line for 2 years.

I would highly advise doing the device only change with another rep or even at another store. If a device is switched to a different line within 6 months of purchase, it can result in a chargeback for the rep (lose the commission they made off your purchase). I don't know if it differs between corporate and retailers, but I wouldn't do it if somebody asked.
tl;dr = upgrade at one store, device only change at another

Anyone get commission when you order online? I don't want to screw the rep in the store, they're just trying to make a living like the rest of us, they don't set VZW's BS policies. I was thinking order it online, activate the new phone over the phone. Then call back and put the old phone back on the data capped line. Someday, when I get a chance I'll pop into a corporate store and get a new sim on my unlimited line and activate the S4 on that one.
I never deal with corprate stores due to the fact rhat they could not care less about an individual. They have so much traffic they are not imterested in goimg the extra mile. I used to work for a retailer and have done this method at least 10 times, 12 if you include my stuff and also watched countless other reps do rhe same. Nobody ever incured a charge back. I guess you could go to a different store just to be safe but shouldn't be necessary. But I would never choose a corprate store. Tons of bad experiences.

From Verizon's website, I don't believe so. Some retailers allow you to ship a phone to one of their stores, and then whichever rep finishes the process for you gets the commission.
So yeah, it's neutral to buy online. No reps will gain anything or lose anything.

Are you corprate or retailer? Cause I dont know where your getting this chargeback thing. Once the phone is sold its sold. How are they going to hold the representative accountable for a phone that switch lines. even if that's true all you have to do is take the SIM card from your old phone and put it in the new phone and it will work. it doesn't even technically need to be switched in system. especially if both phones are 4G once you switch SIM cards they will be updated automatically in system. I highly doubt that anybody will get charged back for something the customer did. Not to mention, if you are correct, how would going to a different store or a different reps make any difference? according to you there still going to chargeback the person you sold the phone right? I'm not saying you're wrong I'm just saying I'm 99.5 percent sure I'm right. Besides the fact, I'd rather screw a rep out of 5 dollars worth of commission then lose my unlimited data or not upgrade my phone.

No commission is lost when you do this. I have a couple friends who work at Verizon retail stores and that's how they do it for people that ask to keep their unlimited data.

This is exactly what I did. Except the Verizon retailer knew about so I didnt have to BS or anything. They got the commission and I got my new GS4.
I went to a Best Buy store, they do everything for you, they don't even charge for the SIM Card, they swap phone and all for you in the spot, I also did the adding a line to my plan so I can get the Galaxy Nexus when it came out, but it's like $17ish a month because of taxes and some fees, At the end of the 2 years you save around $100 bucks, compered to buying the phone full price, but then you'll have another line that you can use the upgrade if you need to.

I thought i was doomed as well.
fortunately i bought mine through costco, they will also switch around the accounts for you to activate at $199 for galaxy s4 instead of the full retail price of $699 or whatever it is these days.
My advice, go to costco
An easier way is to do it online cause they give u the option to move the upgrade to any line u want. I have 4 lines. 2 of them have the note 2 on them with the unlimited data plan. The other 2 lines have 2 lg chocolates on them to avoid having to get a data plan on them lines. So if I have an upgrade on one of the lines that have unlimited data on them I just log in and put the upgrade on one of the other 2 lines that dont have unlimited and order and wait for it to come.

They do that in the store as well. Its call an alternate upgrade. The purpose of my post is to explain in easy to understand teminology , how to use the alternate upgrade switch to your advantage. Whether you do it online, at a store or with Santa Claus makes no difference to me. I just don't want people to give up their plan if there is another way.

I have an unlimited plan on a 3g phone with an upgrade available, and a dumb phone not eligible for upgrade. I tried this alternate upgrade. method at the vzw store and got to the checkout point, and was told that using the upgrade from the unlimited data line on *any* line will lose unlimited data. I went to a different store and asked there as well, and they said the same thing. I guess I have to wait until the dumb phone is eligible for an upgrade...
