No HeadPhones???? - Galaxy Note 3 Accessories

So I got Note 3 from an authorized retailer paid 360, got a small box with charger 2 manuals, quick start and warranty. and the phone.
My friend got the same thing for Tmobile today, he got a nice big box with head phones.
And he also paid 360.
So I wonder, Does the AT&T Version come in a crappy box?, or did I get screwed?
I am going to write the company about this, AT&T and Samsung, for 360$ they should have atleast included the headphones and even a micro-SD
Please let me know if this applies to me.

yep att version does not come with headphones

verizon does not have headphones either

360?
Bloody hell, for 360 i'd have setted for just the phone, without everything else....
You need to realize everyone else has to pay over $1000 for the same phone...
I'm assuming you also did not get the pentip replacements, then?

If you call AT&T and complain, if the rep is nice, they might give you $10 or $15 courtesy credit for the inconvenience.

I'm assuming the $360 is also with a 2 year contract.
I paid nothing for mine in the UK but I have a 2 year contract.

Sprint's Note 3 comes with headphones

My AT&T version Note 2 was the same way. No headphones, generic box. A bit of a letdown considering the awesomeness of this device. Definitely doesn't make for a spectacular unboxing.

whats an att box look like? i got a nice tmobile "wood" box

Both of the Note 3's I got a few days ago were $700 each (without contract). I purchased both at a T-mobile booth in the Mall. Both came in a nice wood-look box with USB 3.0 data cable, 110v wall plug, headphones, and pentips (though at first, I had no damn idea what they were.. lol)
Both of the Samsung Gear watches I picked up at Best Buy tonight, came in the same nice wood-look box.

My understanding is that the ATT deal is more expensive when you add in two years or service. T-Mobile charged me $708 upfront for the phone, but has unlimited everything for $70/month, or unlimited voice/text plus 2.5 GB 4G Data for $50. They also have the phone for zero to $199 down & no interest on the remainder, over 2 years.
I've been a customer since 1998 and my only complaint is the sketchy reception in some office buildings. Good thing they free WiFi calling.

Yes, I forgot, I was already on an old family plan at $80 for 2 lines, with 500mb of 4G, and could add 2 Gb for $10.
For new customers/current plans it is:
$50 for unlimited talk & text & 500 mb of 4G, then unlimited data at a slower speed (I don't know how slow)
$60 the 4 G slows after 2.5 GB
$70 unlimited 4G, plus you can share 2.5 Gb of 4G with WiFi hot spot.

AT&T Plain box with no headphones.
I got mine from AT&T and it came in a plain orange and white box with no headphones. Seriously though the audio out from the N3 is way too good to waste on cheap headphones. I'm using Shure E3C earphones and the sound quality is stunning, especially if you use well recorded 24/96KHz FLAC files. USB Audio also works really well with this phone and an external USB DAC/Headphone Amp.
As far as plans go I bought mine outright for $700 and no plan. I use AT&T GoPhone plan which is .10/minute and $5 per month for 50MB of data. I spend only $100 per year total since I hardly ever make calls and am almost always in WiFi range. I did run a Speedtest on 4G LTE and it returned 26Mb/s download, 20Mb/s upload. Damn fast and consumed my entire months data in 15s
AT&T stores definitely don't like you doing this of course and I had to go to two different stores and spend three hours arguing with the manager to get it. At the second store he was down to pulling up listings on ebay and suggesting I buy it there. When I held my ground and threatened to sign up for a contract (which he knew I'd cancel the second I left the store) he finally gave in and sold it to me.
Of course I didn't get my $375 discount but their minimum plan is $80 a month including fees so over two years I'm saving $1720 which entirely pays for the phone and leaves me another $1000 to spend on other goodies (2 x PS4 for example ).

If you're paying over $1000 you're insane. The retail on an unlocked Note 3 is less than $800.

ReZound for 79.99

ReZound is 79.99 with an upgrade/2-yr agreement
Does anyone know if this is only online or is it also in-store...I'm planning on purchasing the phone tomorrow but the Verizon Store is far and the store is obviously closed by now (10:10pm here in South Carolina). Any help or quick response would be great! Thank you!
i believe it's online only as of now. it'll go back up in price soon, though.
Alright...dang...thanks though!
If you want the Rezound and have the contract the $79 is a great deal. I wouldn't be afraid of doing it online. When I ordered mine they even comped the shipping (I ended up having to fight for it after the fact but won the minor battle) but you can ask them on chat if there is anyway to get the shipping free. The process for activation is pretty easy. One thing to note - if you have a 4G phone that you are replacing it with - they will not send out the sim card automatically. But your local store has those and can fix most anything if things get messy.
I ordered mine online a few months ago when it was $50. Phone was here 19hrs later. Popped sim card in and away it went

The $0.01 deal doesn't exist now... glad you got the deal...
I upgraded my Son's phone to the Rezound yesterday.. $79 + $30 upgrade fee = $109 which you pay upfront. He will have the phone most likely Tuesday.
Will see how long it takes him to S-Off.... I got it 2nd try.

Got mine from Bestbuy the other day. They matched the $80 price that Verizon had. I got $100 for my Inc 2 trade in. I got $50 freedom upgrade. That means I got $80 in my pocket as I left.
I think I beat you AshtonTS.
Go to Best Buy and ask them to price match, sell the beats earbuds because they're garbage and you've paid $30-nothing for your brand new rezound!
eh i paid $250 for mine on launch day..should've been 300, but on the website it said 250 because of a loyalty discount (not new every two because i was using an annual up anyway, so it was a weird unmentioned discount..)
i go int he store, ask if they can match it..at first they say no, so i'm like "ok i'll just go somewhere else that will, or order it online"
then another guy comes over and is like, well wait, lets see what we can do...turns out they were able to match it lol so maybe you can try in a store
Here's a question:
Why do American carriers charge such obscene amounts for cell phones?
For example, I can get an HTC One X with 5000 any network text messages, 2000 any network minutes, 5000 additional minutes when calling those on the same carrier and unlimited data (truly unlimited) for the equivalent of about $50 per month with NO upfront cost for the device (it's free).
I've seen adverts in the US that still ask for an upfront fee for the very outdated HTC Inspire and price plans that are laughable.
Am I missing something?

They are greedy.
Because the United States is roughly 40 times the size of the UK. Carriers figure they have to cover more rural geography while improving speed to satisfy customers in urban areas, particularly Verizon. Then pass the costs onto us.
Glad I got to pay a penny up front for my phone, but this two year contract without unlimited data is a steep price in the long run.
You seriously don't pay anything for your phones over in London, and get cheaper prices? Holy hell.... we get hit hard here in America. :-( Always a few $100 everytime we want to upgrade, unless we can hit a great deal, and even then... buying the phones the cheapest part of the process. I pay nearly $230 a month for 2 phones. *sigh*

Buying a note 2 (comment on verizon website)

So I've been thinkign about buying a note 2. Have purchased a razr last year (13 months ago) I'm not elegible for an upgrade; but it has god awful battery life (it predates the maxx; which pissed me off).
-
So I wanted to check verzion final price on the phone; went to website; add it to cart month-to-month; then wanted to see if i could actually purchase it. Nope; have to add a plan (as a side note the plans have been raised to $20 so without discountes the $80 plan is now $100). Wiat this is month-to-month - I don't need (or want) a plan so I hit the chat button. Rep comes on and I tell them the problem. You have to add a plan they tell me. We can always remove it later if you want but to purchase you will need (another) plan. But I don't want a freaking plan I just want the phone. I'm sorry we can't sell you a phone without selling you a plan but ....
-
So not only do they charge more for the phone than any other brand (at&t, sprint, ...) and then they break features on the phone adding their own local hacks (block call and similar); they won't even sell the bloody thing. Maybe that is a hint !
I ran into that too, but I went to a local vz store and bought mine the day they where released with no problem.
You should also realize you don't need to buy your phone from Verizon, there are many other ventures that are selling the Note 2 both oncontract and off.
There site may just be flawed pick it up in store if you need.
Sent from my SCH-I605 using Tapatalk 2
Well I was thinking amazon; they tend to be good about return/exchanages if there is an issue and as a company I think i prefer them to verizon.
-
I did find a use one for $450 that is tempting but I won't be going home for a couple of weeks; maybe I'll wait and see if it is still for sale - but i worry a bit about warranty; while $450 is a good price; at $600 or $650 which is more common I think maybe that warrany is worth the few extra dollars.

Sure can if you want to pay $800. Actually they sell it via best buy. There is suppsoe to be a 'developer' version direct from samsung but i couldn't find it on their website; they sure like to hide such things.
You can get the Maxx battery put on your razr. My brother had his done through a company and they even gave him a warranty for it. Just thought I would share. Funny thing is that his phone now says razr maxx under about phone .

You're wasting your time (and money!) trying to buy from Verizon. It's extremely easy to pick one up BNIB from eBay or Craigslist. Worst case scenario you'll save $50. Best case you'll find somebody trying to offload a gift they don't want and save a lot more. Mine, the guy hadn't even taken out of the box. Found on Craigslist, he wanted $575.

Yea, that's me. Good to see you here, I still have two Rezounds.
I really loved that phone but they seem awfully slow and laggy now compared to the N2 when I play with them.
This is kinda funny, I have a 12 year old daughter that plays soccer and I help coach the team. One of the Moms from the team was telling me how much she hated her older android phone and was planning to use an upgrade to buy a new iphone (and lose her unlimited data plan to do it).
I showed her one of the ROMed and highly tweaked/unlocked etc Rezounds and offered to give it to her for free (and she could have kept her unlimited data package). She basically said "no thanks, I never want to see another android phone at this point"
She bought a new iphone the next day and when I asked her a few weeks later how she liked it she responded "I absolutely love it, this is what I should have bought in the first place"

For $575 I might take a chance on it, but there is not a chance I would buy one off ebay or craigs list to save $50 over buying straight from Verizon.
Log in to the site, then it will let you buy it without adding a plan.

I completely agree and I have an ipad2 (I'm typing on it rightnow)
I bought the ipad way back when they very first came out and it's the first apple product I have ever owned (except my 12 year old daughter has an ipod touch) It is the 64 gig with both WiFi and 3g. I have done Windows mods/repairs etc for years and home build all my PCs.
I really wanted an android tablet but all the android tablets that I tried back then sucked. They where all laggy/slow etc and the ipad just blew them away with its smooth glitch free operation.
I loved the ipad at first but the more I used it, the more the limitations of it really started to annoy me. Now, I hate the thing and would really like to sell it and buy an android tablet but I have so many apps etc in it (it is jailbroken) that I don't really want to dump it either.
The thing that really annoys the living sh** out of me is, I started posting on an apple message board (very similar to this one but only for iphones/ipads/ipods etc.) EVERY SINGLE TIME I tried to get help for something that irritated me about the ipad, I would get flamed like crazy by 50 a-holes claiming the ipad was absolutely perfect just the way it stood and if I didn't like it I was an idiot and should go buy something else.
I couldn't believe it, I was not trolling AT ALL, just asking legitimate questions and most of the posters (who where technically retarded) could not stand for anybody to post even the tiniest criticism of their Apple products.
I sort of addressed this at the start. First the note 2 is $700 at amazon and verizon; the $800 price is via samsung website which uses bestbuy. For $450 or $500 I would be willing to buy it used in the right situation (there was one 'new in box' for $450 but it sold pretty quickly). However at $625-$650 I tink I would rather have the warranty. Locally I've not seen one below $625 and on ebay folks are trying to sell them with cracked screens for > $600.

If that used one was a legitimate sale and not beat up (not a CL scam), it's already sold. That's dirt cheap for a GN2. Even bad esn GN2's sell on eBay for that much. A reasonable price for a like new GN2 will be between $5-600 on CL. More anywhere else online.

A less expensive option from Verizon.
If you are already 12 months or so into a contract with shared data, another option is to get it on a new line ($299) then cancel your old line and pay ETF (approx $230 if you're 12 months into your contract), total $529 plus tax from Verizon with full warranty and support. If you want to keep your old number just port it out to Google Voice.
I considered this when it first came out, and confirmed it would work at my Verizon store, but decided to pay full price to avoid entering yet another new 24 month contract.
Yea I thought of something similar; switching to at&t (I have another thread). The more I look at how these companies work the less I like them; Kind of hope google offers a (good) phone service alternative as is currently rumored. Its not just the prices but on top of the prices the crap they stuff/cram/ram/whatever up the users whatever.

I use Dolphin on Android and they have a web app for IOS as well. There are options, but the majority of android users don't even know they can use a different browser, and they don't even care. The majority of android users don't take advantage of any/all of the features android offers over IOS, so it's not hard to see why IOS is perfectly fine for so many people.

[Q] My phone upgrades are available, what are my options?

I'm on Verizon obviously and I was lucky enough (at the time) to have been grandfathered into that 1400 minute plan with unlimited data. We have two phones, HTC Rezound(mine) and a Motorola DX2(wife), both do for upgrades in August. I'm probably going to wait until some new phones come out, nothing I see entices me right now.
Down to the point, how can we upgrade without losing our unlimited data? What are our options, any way to get around this? My wife is dying for a new phone, here DX2 is 2 years old and falling apart plus I'd love to get away from HTC. I appreciate any help with this.
Really the only way is to buy a phone off-contract.
Yeah as far as buying new, either catch a sale right around launch and buy it retail or wait until the phones been out a few months or so until they're cheaper than the retail price at online auctions or classified listing.
Or you can add a new line and get a new phone. Then swap Sims and activate an old dumb phone on the new line which allows you to not have to pay the $30 smartphone package. Ends up costing about 12-15 after the 9.99 monthly charge with taxes and usage fees added on.

I guess you have to buy one off contract. Swappa is great for buying gently used phones. Or you could buy a Nexus 4 or Nexus 5 when it comes out.

If I remember that thread he got it by transferring the upgrade from one line to his or something. I think that's what happened.
Right now I'm on the old Nationwide Family Talk & Text plan. We have 2 phones; 1400 min, unlimited data and text. My girlfriend and I don't even come close to 1400. I took a screenshot of my data usage and my gf's from the vzw app. I believe it shows that I used over 5gb for this billing period so far? Am I able to see last months total data usage online? My 3yr old uses my phone a lot so I'm worried about tier data plans. Oh and we pay about $175 a month for this plan for two phones which is insane
I think these are all of my options? Which do you feel is the best for me in the long run?
A. Pay full retail for two new phones and use the monthly payment plan so I can keep my unlimited data?
B. Switch to a data tier plan and drop unlimited so I can get the 2yr phone discount prices?
C. Wait until Dec when my contract is done and then switch to another carrier?
D. Try and find a use phone on Craigslist?
Right now I have a Rezound (used from Asurion) and my GF has a cracked DX2. Where looking at maybe the S4 or a 5s when it comes out. We always wanted to try iPhones.

Im on 3 but I'm buying it Sim free. They will charge you the full amount for each month remaining on your contract. Theres really no point in terminating contract as you will just have to pay this amount upfront, you may just as well take out a second one.

They will charge the full amount minus 20% as you cannot be charged VAT on services that haven't been rendered yet.
Or so I believe
Like the others have said, get it sim free - £610 from clove.co.uk with free goodies!!
then get a rolling contract sim - three's SIM ultra pack for £15 is good enough for me, Unlimited texts, Unlimited internet, 1500 talk time. (£360 over 2 years, plus the phone from clove, that is £960 for 2 years total
if you went on contract with the phone, you would be tied up with it for 2 years or so, at approx £50-60 p/month maybe a £60 deposit for the phone = very close to £1500
do the math, it works out better in the long run if you get sim free phone and sim only plan.
I would sell the goodies and my existing S3 to bring the price of the phone down to around £250
It's £600 now on Clove
Ignore that, was reading an old blog post. Is still £612

Oh don't forget to purchase this through quidco!!! £60 approx cashback. I do it every year.
If you already have a contract with them you can cancel it and convert it to a pay as you go sim... You can them keep your old number and port it to the new contract.
Its a no brainer. You end up paying £10 a month for 2000min 5000texts and unlimited date..

I'm not to fussed about 4G. 3G speeds are fast enough for me, plus it's not available on my network yet, or area!
I got mine off ecell (3g version) on ebay for £500 delivered. Takes 7 days to deliver. Im getting 18+ meg download speeda anyway so no need for 4g. Ill have z ultra 2 before 4g is widespread/beneficial on three (first 4g roll out for three uk is in London and a couple of other big cities in December) this phone is so quick at everything youll only need 4g for downloading movies etc for offline use quickly.

The way I see it, I can tentatively get £180 for my existing phone and £150 for the goodies that Clove give with the phone.
That's £330. £610-£330= £280.
If I buy from mobicity it would be £520-£180= £340.
So I'd really be paying £60 more for the 3G version.
Wow, just looked at prices, looking like I would only get around £60 for the free Clove goodies on eBay! That puts the 4G at £370. So £30 more for the 4G.
Bit to much money for me right now
im going to wait till next week to see if the HTC One Max is announced and when itll be released, then choose between the 2

I would, but i HATE touchwiz lol, I have the S4 Zoom right now with nova launcher, but id rather not go through the effort, but im getting tird of the galazy design, the One is the best looking android Ive ever seen, but Im drawn to the Ultra's water resistance and dustproof-ness, design is not too shabby either
the things we have to go through as tech geeks man.....

I use Nova too. I use UltimaROM on the S3 which is very AOSP looking, fortunately! I am also not a fan of stock Sammy.
The Xperia Z range is absolutely stunning in its looks.

This article is about the Z1 and SGN3 but if you look closely, you can see the release date for the ZU is the 9th Sept.

Z1 may have the edge design wise as I have suspicion the Note 3 will be repeating the GS4 design just larger.

Other device, comparisons to other devices, and upgrading phone discussion

Please use this thread to discuss devices other than and any comparisons with other devices on or about the Note III in this thread and any other off-topic issues that are not needing a new thread.
Post with respect, this is a helpful community, hope we all learn from this stuff in here.
Was the only customer in my local Sprint store this morning. They took over an hour because they were having problems with the new Note 3 and new One Up program. Got it back at home though now. Absolutely LOVE it!!!!!
Good luck to everyone getting it this morning! If you're also using the One Up program then be prepared to wait. They said no one else had been able to do it yet. I was thrilled that they were for me. I was willing to wait all day if I had to though! Lol

My experience was not that bad considering I did a number swap with my girlfriend. Essentially she got my S3and I took her EVO 3D to do the One up. I did the number swap Friday the 4th so I actually couldn't do the One up til the next day. Went in at 9 was out of the store before 9:15. Compared to my S3 the N3 is a beast all its own and I love it.

Note 3 versus Galaxy Mega
Hi, I'm thorn between the Note 3 and the Mega. I know the Note 3 has a faster processor, more memory, ram and better screen resolution. currently I have the Note 2. I need the biggest screen I can get. don't use the Spen too much so no need of it. Anyone have tested the Mega?
A heads-up that Amazon just got the black model in stock -- I got an email saying that my earlier order has shipped, and it shows 2 more in stock currently. http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-Galaxy-Note-Black-Sprint/dp/B00FJ8WBJG/ref=pd_sim_sbs_cps_1
Price is $299.99 for an upgrade, and they don't charge tax to most states (including IL), plus my Chase Freedom card is offering 5% cashback from Amazon purchases this quarter... so my bottom line is $285... pretty good, I'd say.
--
Well shoot, I see that the upgrade price is now $249.99! I'm chatting with customer service now to see if I can get a credit.

My order has been changed to reflect the new price! FYI, amazon's price match policy on cell phone purchases - http://www.amazon.com/gp/help/customer/display.html/?nodeId=201077510

At the link I pasted. Choose individual or family account, and the option "I have a Sprint account and want to upgrade my current device to this one" gives a $249.99 price either way. Are you seeing something different?

I would like to know as well. It would be nice to get some of my money back.
Just a heads up to anyone considering moving from the HTC One to this phone should do it. I loved the speakers on the One but the battery life, screen size, and expandable storage are completely worth the switch. I'm really loving this phone and I use the stylus and S-Notes way more than I ever thought I would.

I just ordered it through Amazon online. I chose a random plan and called Sprint to activate it and keep my same plan before turning it on. Worked like a champ on this phone and my previous phone two years ago.

Ok... I was eligible for an upgrade so I went to Amazon and picked the Note 3 for Sprint. Sero obviously isn't a plan Amazon offers, so I chose one of the plans they do offer and ordered the phone. The phone showed up the next day. Before turning it on, I called Sprint and said I bought a new phone and want to activate it, but stay on the same plan. They said no problem and activated it. Done.
Two years ago when I was eligible for an upgrade that was the method Amazon told me to use if I wanted a plan they didn't offer. Just in case it didn't work, I didn't turn on the phone until I had confirmation from Sprint it would work.

Note 3 vs HTC One Max?
I picked up my Note 3 on 10/5 and have 14 days to return. I'm thinking about checking out the HTC One Max but the non-removable battery may be a deal breaker for me.
Note 3:
My Cons:
Call quality is so bad
I rarely use the SPen (only to show off) so it's useless
hardware power button moves around alot (super minor)
WatchON and My Magazines sometimes pops up with it not responding (I don't use them)
My Pros:
Screensize/resolution is AMAZING (I came from an S2 Lol)
Battery life: WOW. I stream Pandora all day, utube, txt/emails, and I can still get about 24 hr usage with my HEAVY use.
SD Card slot
Removable battery: Awesome for traveling
Charging: WOW. charges from 0-100 in about 2 hours and 30m
HTC One Max(rumored specs) :
My Cons:
Battery: Non-removable battery???? May be a deal breaker for me.
Size: It was looking to be 5.9 view-able but now they think it will be the same 5.7 as our note 3? The phys size looks like it might be half an inch or so bigger then the Note 3. Will be disappointed if the view-able screen is 5.7 instead of 5.9.
My Pros:
If screen-size will be 5.9, this will put me one step closer on making me want to switch.
Similar battery life as the note 3
SPEAKERS!!! I'm a media person, and stereo/front speakers might push me over the top to switch.
Just minor things that I've though about. Please let me know of your thoughts!
10/18 will be the last day I will be able to undo my note 3 purchase with no penalties (besides the $35 restocking fee). I think the HTC One Max will come out on 10/15 as rumored so I'll be trying it in store to get a better feel of which phone suits me best.
