No Root Tether Bypass - Verizon Galaxy Note 3 General

This was easily achieved on the Note II on Verizon as well. Here's my video I made on how to do this without needing to root your phone.

When the subscription check pops up just press home and it will still work. No need to open another app via recent apps.
Also you can use this app https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=kr.core.technology.wifi.hotspot
Or add the toggle to the notification panel.

Used the instructions and it still won't work for some reason. It is showing the hot spot as being active, but none of my wireless devices (tried a laptop, Nexus 7, and a Nintendo 3DS) see the actual hot spot name (which is Speed Factor). Any ideas on what I could possibly be missing? Using the White variant of the Note 3 if that matters.

How do you add the toggle to the notification panel?

Works great. Question is. Since everything is mostly stock. Can they track this or us using it or what not?

If you disable the SPG app, you will not have to press home. Setting crashed once on me then it has worked fine after that.
Hit thanks if I helped you out.

If you ARE rooted, why not use Barnacle?

Its an oldie but a goodie app that works great.

SPen Home Screen Notes widgey, does one exist?

I'd like a widget for my home screen that would allow me to quickly and easily write notes to myself. Something like one of the post it note widgets, but designed to have handwriting on it not typed text.
Anyone know of such an item?

I'm looking for this too. Ideally I'd like a widget that could be full screen and you could flick the pages just like a field notes and just keep a running notebook of ideas. Maybe within the app itself create different notebooks and such. There are plenty of apps that recognize the S pen, but I haven't found widgets that allow writing within them.

That would be perfect. A digital field notebook with chapters.
Someone make it, I'll happily but it from the market.

I just found one on the market called LectureNotes, not the most intuitive to get set up, but seems to do what I wanted.
More widget functionality would be nice, perhaps a message to the dev when I get a moment.

If you use TSF shell launcher, they have a post-it widget you can download as well. When you tap on the post-it you can handwrite your note. That would be the closest to what you're looking for I believe.

Which opens an editor directly
Even a setting for active input device so my hand doesn't work on the screen while writing, which is more useful than I expected.
Worth trying out.

Nice video. Some nice apps there. :good:
I'll be sure to add Glovebox (and Relaunch, mentioned by one of your viewers) soon to my launcher page, when I get around to updating it.
I knew about Glovebox and Flipaclip but the others are great... thanks.

never mind i accidentally clicked the "menu option" of my galaxy win/quattro and then the setting option popped out.
I know this is an old thread, but I don't think this necessarily works i.e. disabling auto-updates per individual app. I recently rooted an lg g4. As far as i know, I have had auto-update turned off, and as i saw the updates running, I checked the play-store to make sure it was off and even checked a few of the apps to make sure autoupdate was turned off and in every case auto update was turned off. and yet the updates still downloaded and updates ran. I would not even have known if I had not been awake at 3am.

No video option in Camera app?

I just noticed that the camera app on my rooted M8 doesn't have video mode, only camera and selfie. I can't tell you if was there before it was rooted, because gaining root was the first thing I did with this phone. Has anyone else seen this, or have any advice for me? Thanks!

This happened to me after using Themer and a one click theme. And this oddity came about by clicking the camera icon on the home page, not the actual Camara app.

I don't know about the Google now launcher but in themer i had the option to change which icons launched what apps. I noticed my icon was set to open camera but i just selected to change it and set it to cam manually and for some reason, that worked for me. I also had to do the same with gallery

Quick buttons addition

Does anyone know how to add the hotpot icon to the list of quick buttons from the top?

Thanks guys. I wonder if it is a AT&T thing. I know it can be done as you have shown, I just wonder how. Are there any other AT&T users that can verify that their S6 does not show the icon. :good:

Thanks 5harkology. So it seems the Australian provider has it and Verizon has it. Odd. No love for AT&T or Sprint...
You can click the pencil and then select what buttons you want to be part of your quick settings. (I don't have phone, but seems like it would work.)

I noticed the pencil icon too but my Edge doesn't have that. Only an edit button and when pressed, you get the screenshot I provided in the OP. Definitely differences in phones...
If you haven't already done so, try turning your hotspot on and off in the settings menu. Then check to see if this brings up the hotspot quick setting. I seem to remember this being the case on my old Nexus 5.
I have an AT&T s6 edge and I don't have the hotspot icon available either.
