never mind i accidentally clicked the "menu option" of my galaxy win/quattro and then the setting option popped out.

I know this is an old thread, but I don't think this necessarily works i.e. disabling auto-updates per individual app. I recently rooted an lg g4. As far as i know, I have had auto-update turned off, and as i saw the updates running, I checked the play-store to make sure it was off and even checked a few of the apps to make sure autoupdate was turned off and in every case auto update was turned off. and yet the updates still downloaded and updates ran. I would not even have known if I had not been awake at 3am.

[Q] Gray Arrow with minus or plus sign

I keep reading that the gray arrow with the minus or plus sign is "notifications off" but I don't see a toggle to turn it on or off. It's not in the pull down menu, even if I go right or left. Tmobile and others seem to have it, so maybe AT&T doesn't have the toggle? Where is the setting to turn it on or off?

I asked twice and no one helped. They just said it was there, look. Are people just going to ignore me?
edit: it was moved, sorry good sir, but I asked on other forums (international galaxy s 3) and they didn't say anything.
What do you see when you access the notification menu with the toggles ?

Nothing, no notifications. I think it changes when I get one, shows a + instead of a - sign. But I rebooted it and it went away. Not sure why it came up in the first place and not sure how to fix it (besides a reboot)
When I installed the chrome browser and did the login the plus thing happened to me too. And when I pulled down the notification bar I was able to click on the plus arrow and it took me to a password login area. Hope that helps bro.

I know that I get the + icon when I have a crap load of notifications (not enough room to show all icons in the status bar). Not sure about the -. Maybe it wants you to hurry up and clear some notifications?

[Q] Video Player Displays Chapter numbers

When watching a film on my Galaxy S3 - using a file I copied from my desktop - the default Samsung video player displays the chapter number at the bottom of the screen like: Chapter 1
This isn't burned onto the video itself - watching the same video on my desktop show no such chapter display.
Is there a way of turning this off? There isn't an obvious option in the app itself.
Bump - no one else have this issue? I noticed a similar problem in the note 2 forum.
In case it's not clear what I mean, it looks like this:

This has got to be bugging someone else as well! Is there some sort of config file I can tweak?

Dude quit bumping...
This question has already been posted....
There's a setting in the video player itself if I remember correctly.
I searched for this before posting and couldn't find anything. I also sent ages searching through the options and also couldn't find anything.

Was bugging me too, and just figured out how to turn it off. Whilst playing the video in Video Player click the left soft button, go to Settings and the turn "Closed caption" off.

uninstalling an app

I want to uninstall words with friends from zynga, here what they say to do
How to remove Zynga games on your Android device:
1. Open Google Android Menu.
2. Go to Settings and select Applications.
3. Click Manage.
4. Select the application you want to remove from the list.
5. Click Uninstall.
where is the google android menu. I can not uninstall when I go to my setting on my phone, no option to uninstall:crying: this fricken app.
Just go to the Play Store, then My apps, find that app...there should be a tab there to uninstall it.

To uninstall from settings, go to "Settings" | "Application manager", which is probably what is meant by "google android menu", find the application, and there will be a button to uninstall.
You can also uninstall all apps from the play store, as 4-2ndtwin pointed out.
I tried that but it only uninstalls the updates not the whole game. I guess I need my phone to be rooted to do this.
^
Did u try to uninstall that app from the Play Store like i suggested ?

Zenga also sets an account in "accounts" in settings.try deleting that first, then "uninstall" in apps.maybe that will get rid of it completely.

Thanks, it worked for me.

Why is Google+ eating up my battery when I don't even use it?

I don't use it for any reason. I don't have auto upload for pics on or anything. I've been off of my charger for 2 hours and it's responsible for 33% of my battery depletion.
What can I do to prevent this?
Thanks

The app is a nightmare for me. Turning off sync, disabling notifications, etc, and it just sucks the life from the device.
When I need it, I hit it from the Web.

juan, as you know you can't uninstall Google + from the device. I could disable it all together we but what other things is that going to affect? Youtube account, etc...?

You can effectively disable it, and it has zero effect on any other Google app.
Deleting it can be done, but there will be library files left behind that you may wish were gone.
Best freezing it.

So you're saying just disable Google + all together basically? Any negative affects with youtube or youtube comments, etc...?

I also had a problem with this, it was due to me using the Auto Backup for pictures. Even if I selected "only on WiFi" and "only while charging". I used Tasker to kill G+ and run Greenify right after I unplug and my Google+ and Media drain has gone away.

App Permission for firmware 23.5.A.1.291

Hello Everyone,
I"ve searched in the search box but it didn't show the result. I have upgraded my Xperia Z2 to firmware 23.5.A.1.291. When I press the Google Maps app. It asks me to allow that app permission. I press allow. The next box appears like like "Screen Overlay Detected" the attached pix

And when I tap "Open Settings" it leads me to a list of apps. From there I don't know what to do next, because, when I tap the Google Maps app in the list It leads me to App Permissions like: Contact, Location, Phone, Storage. I tap "Location", it doesn't turn green, but the box "Screen Overlay Detected" appears again. Please help. I don't know what to do.
Same here
If you use xposed, try NoOverlayWarning module.

If you don't use Xposed you have to force stop or kill app which draw overlay on screen such as messenger chathead, Lux. Before you grant permission for new app
Sorry for my English though.
If you're using an app that control brightness, like flux, or something that adds a colour filter like CF.lumen, that is your culprit, but you need to be very careful because this overlay warning is there to protect you from apps hijacking your clicks, so be careful.
I also faced the same issue of screen overlay, then I disabled all screen overlay app and then enable it one by one and then keep checking if permission is working or not, in this way I found 3 apps to be held culprit. Thats because of May security patch in 291 firmware, i did upgrade 1 app among those 3 culprit and it start behaving normally. So what I did is I mailed the other 2 guys about the issue, so that they too update their apps.
