I have a s2 unlocked I put o2 uk sim and I get no network same with voda tmobile and orange so my thinking is the phone as been blocked but thdn I put a 3 network sim in and the phone works fine makes and receives call I have debranded phone and updated via kies but still ssme so now im scratching my head

I have an unlocked AU vodafone SGS2 and am using my TPG $1 plan simcard.
I have found when using TPG sim I can only obtain download speeds of 10KB/s however on Voda sim I can get in excess of 300KB/s. I get 3G signal on TPG sim, I can still make and receive calls - just data is the issue.
AFAIK, I am using correct respective APN settings. My question is - is there some sort of hardware difference in the SGS2 which is making my TPG/Optus sim data extremely slow/limited?

i have Motorola Photon rooted and unlocked, i live on the border with Mex also i have this phone with a Mexican Telcel SIM Card, works perfect on Mex, but when i back to USA i lost the Mex network and the phone start to search for networks and i just see Sprint network, but i can't receive or made phone calls on sprint network roaming, if i remove the sim card and put the sim on my HTC i can see more networks, sprint, AT&T, verizon, etc and i can go in to roaming and works perfect, i can made and receive calls on roaming, but if i back the sim to the Photon i just find a sprint network only and the roaming service not work..
what can i do to see more networks on my photon?? i need receive calls from mex on this phone..

You need to flash the kddi radio. That should fix your roaming issues. After that you need to set the mobile network to GSM only

I am currently using Samsung Galaxy S2 SGH-I777. This is been unlocked with the code provided by AT&T. After unlock I am able to use the phone with my Vodafone IN sim with the 3G connection. Recently around 3 weeks back, I have upgraded the mobile from 4.0.3 to 4.1.2 via kies. Currently it is in I777UCMD8 band and Kernel version as 3.0.31-1154545-user [email protected] #3.
Since firmware upgrade, I am unable to use the phone with 3G.
The mobile network connection is not consistent, and unable to make or receive any calls.
I did some search in the forums and came across the code *#2263#. using this I selected the band as GSM only and i am able to have continuously, and able to receive and make the calls.
I tried out inserting another vodafone 3g sim and able to use the 3g and continuous signal on my mobile, where it is not working with my sim.
I tried out my sim in another 3g phone and was able to have access the 3g and continuous signal.
I have replaced my sim couple of times, and even that didn't worked for me.
Any help on this is much appreciated.

So I was wondering if there's any way that can turn my phone into a Verizon .
I don't think you can turn your phone into a Verizon one. And you don't really need it.
Both carriers in Yemen are GSM networks, as it shows here: https://www.frequencycheck.com/countries/yemen
And before traveling, make sure your phone is not network locked to your current carrier. Just insert another Saudi SIM card (from a network different than the one you are using now) and check what your phone displays. If your phone doesn't show any message and you can place an order with the SIM card from the other network than you are good to go. No need to do anything to your phone, just insert a Yemen card.

I am in italy and tried with sim Vodafone, Tim and H3G can't find any cellular networks.
I have updated the phone via wifi and the phone seems to work properly, the SIM is recognized because it asked me for the Secure code at startup,
the correct model is ASUS_Z01KD, Maybe is a frequency incompatibility.
