[kernel][non-tmo][qcom][lp] leanKernel: minimalistic kernel v6.3 (tw), v5.2 (aosp) - Galaxy Note 3 Original Android Development

leanKernel is not for everyone. My philosophy is to keep the kernel footprint as small as possible by trimming as much fat as possible, and at the same time keeping it stable, power efficient, and fast. You will find that it's lacking some of the bells and whistles of other custom kernels, so if you like features you came to the wrong thread.
The "warranty bit" message at boot is normal.

Hi. as soon as I you verify the difference between N9005 and N900T source codes I will be you beta tester.
Well done mate

Great to see you over here. Any way to persuade you to look into the SM-N900 exynos source .
Thanks!

I created a separate thread for t-mobile users here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2488233
I'll keep this one for 9005 folks.

Here's another beta update (0.4b): http://androtransfer.com/?developer=imoseyon&folder=hlte
Samsung code is a bit behind CodeAurora, especially the GPU code so I started updating them: gpu, row scheduler, msm cpufreq, etc. Will take a while to completely modernize everything I think. If you run into issues with 0.4b report it here and go back to 0.3b.
Edit: 0.4.2b is the latest - had to revert cpufreq updates due to some bootloops.
--
BTW, I get the feeling that the kernel will work without modification on most N900 variants. I will compare source on some of those to confirm soon.

Thanks for doing this. Will test during the weekend. Exiting times ahead.. Jp is getting the device too.
Knox should not matter, the root scene have always broken warranty, except now it's just a little more definite due to the 0x1.

You shouldn't take care of benchmarks too much, they depend a lot of platform, api version, gpu, screen... and blablabla, they also can be cheated, like samsung did with his Note 3
Selinux is a security improvement added to android, I did enabled it on kernel side to make the system binary stop spamming logs, but I haven't added real support yet, maybe next releases.

Oh ok, It dont feels slower or something. so the benchmark istn really convincing
And something is a little strange. The toggles in the notification-bar are a little bit different now. Or the handling istn the same, when you want to replace or add new toggles, it looks like the toggles from the "fast settings". and in 4.2.2 it was just a list. (omg, dont know how to say it right in english ^^) but it works, so maybe its just a 4.3-thing ^^

Yes. All these roms that you are making, many people won't be using them unless camera is fixed. If you provided at least one build of these roms with stable lollipop base, it would be really great.

The kernel is working. I lost root so I flashed it again via TWRP.
There's a bug: when the screen is off, and you want to turn it on, the device reboots. Could you fix that? And please add the option to set lower frequencies to the processors both big and LITTLE (The lower frequency currently is 800mHz on big and 500 on LITTLE)
Thanks for your work
Oh if there is a reboot bug then ill wait till it gets fixed after that ill flash it for reporting

Awesome... backing up previous timduru ROM so I can play with this one. Thank you timduru and taconikky for helping breath new life into the Ole Prime!
Thanks guys for your work. But right mousepad button does not work in Remote Desktop App. Please implement that function again like in KatKiss 5.11. I need it for daily use to control my home server.
This was an unexpected Nougatella treat! Install was clean (did full wipe first), and has been running well. Enjoying trying out the Substratum theme capabilities; some quirks there with some themes and apps which is to be expected at this early Android 7 stage.
v007 Running great !! :good:
having some small issues with like MtpHost crashing from time to time
but as I see it's already fixed in timduru's latest changelog:
= XX/XX/2016 V008 =
- prevent MtpHost from crashing
- switch to google codecs until further OMX fixes
- switch to sdcardfs
- cleanups: rm unused dhcpd + /mnt/sdcard

looking ffwd to try it
Amazing ROM, my tf201 run smooth and fast. Clean installation, tf201 boots perfectly. Battery drains quick but I think ROM will adjust itself in the next days, as mm ROM happened.
Thx very much TakoNikky an Timburu for not to forget us and give us the opportunity to keep our primes alive.
Wooooo! Thanks man. This device is now one of the few old devices that are getting updates faster than brand new flagships!
OK, anyone have instructions from going from the last ASUS ROM to this one? (Yes, yes, should have updated years ago.) I am already unlocked.
Anyone with microphone issues? I checked everywhere I could think of in settings and cannot get my mic to work.

+1.
Can people confirm that up to date versions of SuperSu can be flashed at install, rather than flashing an old version and updating it after first boot?
Also, is it still recommended to stick with MM's performance settings:
- 1600mhz with bfq schedular
- Settings/MediaScanner Filters --> uncheck Scan
- Developer options --> force GPU rendering

Stick with recommended settings by the OP ... confirmed !!
Go with the latest SuperSU (root) 'coz it's optimized for Nougat 7.x
Everting else in settings is recommendations from previous versions of KatKiss
... Go for it[emoji4]

Awesome Job!
(nice Logo )
Hope this kickstarts the development of other kernels for our device too!
Great Job! Since I am already running the kernel the whole weekend I can say that it runs rock solid. Now let's see if we can get hotplugging going.
Great work, our first Motorola G5 Cedric kernel. ? Thanks a lot lad's.
Just a few things iv noticed
please change the updater script - I know its meant to be a joke but its not really in the spirit of XDA
Onto the kernel itself
Can you explain the following
The big is set to a default of 652mhz yet in kernel Adiutor it doesn't show this in the options but it does show an entry for 249Mhz
The little is still set to a min of 768MHz - can this be underclocked?
Here are some screenshots to explain the points above

Why would we under clock small it calls for big if the frequency is over used there fore big cluster wouldn't need under clock , the reason why its not avalible is because that's what the voltage table picks which in this case was the mid value . I will be looking too fix this , personally I don't see a problem with the update-binary .
But I will Change thanks for your advice !

it also showing core 1 to be permanently offline and it fails to load big frequencies report chart so its hard to run an analysis so I can compare with lineageos kernel
So far in the reports it shows the little to be stuck on 1094mhz and the big at 960mhz but im not sure if that is accurate due to the reporting not working

so I flashed back the lineageos kernel
Kernel Adiutor reported all cores running with the big at 960mhz and little at 728mhz
Turned off all my start at boot options (although when I first tested I stopped it applying them on startup but just to make sure)
Flashed your kernel
It seems to be working now however
little is stuck at 1049mhz - this is because your little gov is set to performance - Changing this to interactive means the little now runs at 768mhz
also big keeps jumping up at 1401mhz where on lineageos kernel it was a stable 960mhz

like I said - no harm leaving it open as people on xda can contribute and those with better kernel knowledge than I have can suggest things
get your testers to use Kernel Adiutor and wait for about 5mins after the phone has booted and then keep opening kernel Adiutor closing it wait a min turn the screen off and so on and then check kernel Adiutor again and see what the reporting says
---------- Post added at 10:15 PM ---------- Previous post was at 09:55 PM ----------
oh and just so people know - this kernel is using a different wifi module to what lineageos uses so if people do test this kernel and then revert back to lineageos kernel please make sure if you replace the wifi module with the one from lineageos or you wont be able to turn on wifi
I have none of the mentioned problems. I set big and small to "interactive" and everything is fine. Scaling seems normal. No core is ever offline.
