Hi... I just flashed the latest build numbers on my 601 32GB and everything is working like a charm. Don't forget to wipe the cache after you finish updating... in my case i ended up in a bootloop. you need to, after updating, reboot and if you get in the bootloop, redtart the note 10 with the power+volume up buttons, go into recovery and wipe the cache. After that, everything is A-OK...
Hope this helps...

The ones that end in J8. But funny thing is, after I installd all my apps and used the tablet for awhile and then restarted, I got into a stuck state on the white SAMSUNG logo. The white leds on the buttons flash, the tablet vibrates, but it gets stuck on a loop... I don't know why.
I go into recovery, flush the cache, but still get into the loop. Then, somehow, I guess by turning on and off the device a zillion times, I get off the bootloop and into the welcome screen and everything is ok again. I don't know why it happens or how to methodically get out of the bootloop state. But when it does boot, it works flawlessly.. Any help??
Thanks all...

Listen, you can root and try it. If all fails, just boot into Download Mode and use Kies to restore to factory firmware/settings. I did that before and it worked like a charm.

ok, well thanks for the input buddy.

Hi, can i flash your pda with my stock csc and modem? Would it work and I get rooted? Thanks.

Rooted successfully with this method
Hi,
I did a successful root with this method on my P-601(32GB). I also installed my original csc instead (created with tar-md5 packager). I afterwards uninstalled KNOX to get rid of the SuperSU security warning with TB (a simple freeze is supposed to work also).
In ODIN mode it now says:
Current BInary: Samsung Official
System Status: Custom
Warranty Bit: 1 (it was 0 before)

1. Download the original firmware from samfirmware or other
2. Create the CSC with tarmd5 packager (if not available as a single tar)
3. Install via Odin with your desired modem/csc files

Forgive my severe learning curve difference gentlemen...what exactly does this download do? Do I need it to root or to install a custom recovery or a custom ROM or Kernal? Thanks!

Hi. Just wondering if this is a deodexed version. Thanks!

No, it's odexed.

is there anyway to get a stock rom with root and custom recovery like touchwiz or twp for p600 ? because i do not think the 601 will work on the 600 since the 600 does not have GSM/GPRS

Even if not, you can use CF-AutoRoot method, then install TWRP from their thread in "Original Android Development". You'll lose nothing and get the rooted device with custom recovery and warranty bit 1 (0 is normal state)

Thanks allot

SOS: Help a Noob stuck at Samsung screen upon attempt to root

Hello,
Could you pls help a noob with a rooting problem? I attempted to root my ICS AT&T Galaxy Note i-717 using Odin3 v 1.85 and a pda.tar file. Prior to that, I had checked and confirmed the USB drivers are installed (I have Kies software installed on the PC. However, folliwing the succesful flash of pda.tar I got the phone stuck at the Samsung screen. I could still get to the download screen. However, the phone would not go pass that screen. Can you pls tell me what I did wrong/guide me w simple steps on how to fix the phone and finish the root? I have the read many different root treads but I find them confusing. Treads are ponting at different files to be frashed/installed on the phone. Thanks very much.
This happens from time to time...don't worry.
Reboot phone in download mode, connect phone, reflash kernel.
A few things: use stock samsung cable. Use back of computer usb port. Reboot computer before you try again. Re download the kernel to be sure your file is not corrupted. Make sure phone battery is more than 80%.

Thanks very much. Where can I get the kernel from and which one/which file do I need to flash? Also, how do I flash it? Do I use Odin or another method? Again Thanks a lot!

Yes, good suggestion. I would reboot the computer, put the phone in download, open Odin3, then plug in phone.
All that is well explained in the thread.

Stuck at Samsung
I have the same issue tho have tried troubleshooting and could really use some extra help.
Updated to ATT stock ICS update a few months ago. Everything workin fine.
Wanted to root it so I could back everything up not to lose anything when moving to JB.
Rooted by flashing Da_G's pda.tar, reboot, and then flashed 2.3.3.0 TWRP
Noticed it was stuck at Samsung.
Here's where I'm kickin myself because I should have backed it up before all this, but I waited because I figured root doesn't wipe data!
Entered TWRP, backed up.
Now what I've tried to fix it... and failed
1. Reflashed pda.tar about 5 times
2. Found a stock pda "pda-odin-att-stock.tar", flashed (fixed) but it's stock setup and contacts and other google services don't work, lost homescreen icon placement and all other settings.
3. TWRP: Restore all = stuck at Samsung again
4. Repeat 2 and Restore only System
5. Repeat 2 and Restore only Data
6. Repeat 2 and flash pda.tar = boots, but same thing with it all stock, so I restore and it's stuck again.
It's my wife's phone and she has contacts that aren't saved in Google, to-do lists saved in app data files, and to be honest, she said everything better be exactly the same after updating (which I promised it would be since the plan was to root, backup, update, and restore), so I'm kinda trying to save my hide. PLEASE HELP me save my ass ha!
Other things to note: I just rooted a new phone about 30mins prior with the exact same root and TWRP files and it went very smooth, no issues.
Using a Samsung original cable on a laptop. Phone Battery was ~30% when I did all the steps, but since then read that battery should be higher so swapped out to fully charged battery and retried the steps.
Using the root kernel you did, basically flashed a Gingerbread kernel over an ICS rom. (Doesn't work)
Your best bet at this point, is too flash a rooted ICS build from bigfau ...(located in the super thread stock section)
Just flash using TWRP ....BUT !!!
make sure you wipe the dalvik cache, system cache, and system before flashing the rooted ICS build.
Once the rom is flashed, you will be stock and rooted.
Regarding data you have lost with no backup....start begging forgiveness now ....it's gone ....g

Wouldn't I be able to just flash an ICS Kernel to undo the GB kernel and set things straight? Or is the whole thing ruined already?
I have the data/app and data/data files. If all's really lost, I'll just put JB on it. If I copy the data/app and data/data files onto the new image will all the apps with their settings/data be restored at least?
Yes, flash the correct kernel.
I think what happened to me is the OS got deleted cuz once I flashed a rom I was good to go!

[Q] Stuck on CWM 5 (PhilZ Touch 5)

Hi!
Before I Install anything I did:
- Wipe Data/Factory Reset
- Wipe Cache Partition
- Wipe Davlik Cache
Then I tried to install:
Code:
- I9300 AOSP NeatROM v5.8 (4.4.3) - Failed with (Status 7)
so I tried Installing:
- I9100 AOSP NeatROM v4.9 (4.4.2) - Failed with (Status 7) too!
And finally tried installing:
- I9300XXUGND5_NeatROM_v7.6_Aroma[/URL] - Failed with (Status 7)
then I tried modifying the update-script for each of them and tried to install hoping one of them works, but:
Code:
- I9300 AOSP NeatROM v5.8 (4.4.3).zip - Disappeared in CWM
- I9100 AOSP NeatROM v4.9 (4.4.2).zip - Disappeared in CWM
- I9300XXUGND5_NeatROM_v7.6_Aroma - (Bad) installation aborted
Now I dont care about any ROM, I just want my device back!
Thanks!
Update recovery, status 7 issues are normally due to incompatible recoveries try latest twrp or cwm , from website ie not via clockwork manager. To get device back now just reflash your nandroid backup, should work fine even with older recovery.

This is latest PhilZ recovery download page >> http://www.mediafire.com/?6bz59b4kwq6my << Also noticed in your post you tried to flash "I9100 AOSP NeatROM v4.9 (4.4.2)" wrong phone my friend probably good that that one failed to install!
If your phone still does not flash with new recovery then return to stock with Odin and start again
No! I'm sure I didn't try to install i9100, I carefully chose I3900 in every ROM I've downloaded! I've just copied this text carelessly so...
However, the recovery I've installed named:

Venue 8 3840 System Update

Restarted the tablet just now and noticed a Dell update. Installed it and, something definitely has improved as the tablet seems much quicker. Ran Antutu and the Ram speed has gone way up. Is it possible Dell has addressed an issue with these tablets? Anyone else get this update?
Yes i did receive this update, it fixed some of the browser issues in chrome.
I can't install the update is just fails mid Install with an Android Caution sign and constantly gives me the OTA Notification.
Maybe it depends on how new your Venue 8 is?

Yes I am rooted but no root apps were used and I unrooted to no avail. So it must be to do with the root process or something it has changed in the system partition. If we had fastboot images it would be easy enough to revert to stock and upgrade...

& The xFSTK Flasher gives no error as I can't no matter what I do get it to detect.
I have now spent 20 Hours trying to fix this - I have run through the guide 3 times and used 3 different computers I have no idea what to do?

Well you should be flashing system.img.gz not system.img.
fastboot flash system system.img.gz
as far as recovery you would need to unpack system.img and build a rom to install via CWM.

My deep apologies I have never flashed a .gz in fastboot before file I just assumed it need to be unachieved and it was compressed for the purpose of size...
I did try to build a Rom however it would not build on my Linux Server for some reason so I gave up on that after a few hours.

Well I just managed to restore the system image found on the thread on to the tablet however when updating I encounter the same issue with the update failing. Even after flashing system, recovery, boot and wiping data back to original. There should be no trace of root at all....

How did you root? What are the errors you get from OTA update?

Using Tethered Recovery by Social, and the error is half way through installing OTA in Recovery it goes from a loading (Progress bar) to a red caution symbol and then it reboots. Upon boot the version number and details remian the same....
Also should add this is stock without any mods or installed apps (just flashed and went straight to updating) ... root should have disappeared entirely when I flashed system.

That doesn't help, if I had that tablet, I would run the ota update through my cwn recovery, all failures are recorded so would know what was wrong.
Stock recovery I don't think records failures, without a log can't help you.

I'm sorry to calm down your happiness but on the F and FN model it was possible to restore old bootloader by downgrading easily, and if you got a bootloop you had to go in recovery and make a hard reset, then it would boot without problem. As Kingraheel said the blocked bootloader were those that have "U2" in the firmware name, as I remember F and FN don't have it.

AND I AM SORRY to say you are saying stupid things, because if you use builds for j500f with the latest changelist, you must know that your bootloader will be locked. As I received error while restoring samsung 5.1.1 after
So don.t correct me if you didn.t ever try latest builds like this: https://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/download/120279/J500FXXU1BPL3_J500FTPH1BPF6_TPH/ or something even newer like this: https://samsung-firmware.org/download/Galaxy%20J5/h887/ILO/J500FXXU1BPL1/J500FOJK1BPL1/

I dont have the botloader blocked becouse i dont update it from the first 6.0.1 release
but any "tip", "trik" can be useful for the j5 users now, if not now maybe later
samsung can blok all j5 variant's and this can be more then wellcome!

no, I opened a pool for those who came here to report, to take a break and relax
I tried the latest firmware, and as I saib before F and FN model don't have locked bootloader, it just can't boot at first but after hard resetting in recovery it boots... So it's not that "hot" news.

I believe this isn't that kind of error. It's not locked.
People which got stuck with 6.0.1 and couldn't downgrade got this error:
Downgrading:
Error on phone says like these: aboot write fail: Fused 2>binary 1 (something like that)
it still boots and still on 6.0.1.

If you were locked, then I think you shouldn't get that far in Odin.
Try to flash other 5.1.1 firmware.

Dunno. The error you're getting is not same as the one experienced by the people which got stuck on 6.0.1.
EDIT: What error do you see on your phone when you're trying to flash 5.1.1 over 6.0.1?
Iam J500H user and locked to MM bootloaders. I remember that when flashing back to lollipop firmware using odin it stuck on aboot.mdn then fails and show on download mode binary fuse thing.

give me you lollipop pda number, and i make unlock file for odin, for your specific model
Sorry, but I'm gonna have to disagree here, @Henkate and @forimbajosh are bang on.
What you are experiencing has absolutely nothing to do with the bootloader. It clearly flashes the bootloader no problem but fails at the system partition.
If the bootloader was refusing to downgrade it would fail at aboot, full stop.
As long as both firmwares are revision 1, and as I can see they are, then there should be no issue downgrading as long as the firmware is correct.
Now attempting to downgrade from revision 2 to revision 1 is a different story.
It's more likely the firmware you attempted to flash is incorrect and possibly has a slightly different partition size for the system partition which is why it fails.
Decompress both of the system images to raw images and post the byte sizes.
I am using the latest update for my J500f (J500FXXU1BPL3_J500FTPH1BPF6_TPH) and my bootloader is still unlocked, maybe the bootloader locking problem is for J500h variants only.
I think so too, as @KingRaheel said the locked bootloader lies in "U2" firmware version.

S4 no wifi after installing custom ROM

*****************Thread can be closed as issue has been resolved*****************
Hello everyone!
I'm not a technical person but I can follow tutorials.
I am currently using a Samsung Galaxy S4 phone (SGH-I337) that has a defective wifi, it won't turn on. I have tried several tutorials, unassembled the device to check that everything was connected properly, done several factory resets and even installed a 4.4.4 software update thru Odin (downloaded from another place on the internet) with no success.
The last thing I tried was following this nice tutorial and everything went according to instructions (I followed the ones that applied to me on Post #3 using Towelroot) but the wifi still wont turn on.
What else can I try?
Current phone specs after turorial:
Android version
4.4.2

All the ones that I have downloaded and installed thru Odin don't fix the Wifi issue, but yeah, I have 3 versions downloaded.
I downloaded these 4 files http://gsm-firmware.com/index.php?a=browse&b=category&id=7840
How do I install them? My experience with Odin is restricted to 1 file in the PDA/PA slot, not 4 different files.

ok so because odin has changed over the years we need to flash these 4 files in the correct slots, with my j3 it's the same deal. here is a short explanation
“BL Button” -- This button is an abbreviation for “Bootloader”. You would »»Click«« this button if you wanted to »»FLASH«« only a portion or »ALL« of the Device’s “Firmware”.
««« This MUST ONLY be used with the CORRECT type of “Image File”!!!! »»»
“AP Button” -- This button is used to »»FLASH«« “Individual Sections” of the Device’s Operating System (OS). This button was previously labeled as “PDA”.
“CP Button” -- This button is used to »»FLASH«« “Individual Sections” of the Device’s Hardware. This button was previously labeled as “Phone”.
“CSC Button” This button is used to »»FLASH«« “Complete” or “Partial” images that use the Device’s “Product Code” (CSC). This is used for almost all the »»REPAIR«« procedures. This is the most commonly used button for “Novice Users”
If you have root access, keep it simple and use it to flash twrp. I'll make you a custom build to flash there if you like. Let me know

I'm making the build today the reason for the delay is because I discovered we can upgrade you to lollipop, we will need to test this though. I'll upload the rom to my google drive within the next 1-2 hours, I appreciate your patience and I'll do my best =)
The rom is uploaded here. https://drive.google.com/open?id=12EYdh5YGlBnJJS0TV3B3TkEOTWH5kWfK I have also included the Lollipop Odin firmware update files, they will help you if you encounter any issues after the fact like data/wifi.
---------- Post added at 12:39 PM ---------- Previous post was at 11:56 AM ----------
Ok so here are the features, the rom is uploaded.
Android 5.0.1 Lollipop SDK 21
ROOT STATUS: [YES]
BUSYBOX STATUS: [YES]
SQLITE STATUS: [YES]
ROM INIT.D SUPPORT STATUS: [YES]
DEKNOXED STATUS: [YES]
DEBLOATED STATUS: [YES]
ZIPALIGN STATUS: [YES]
DEODEX STATUS: [YES]
CUSTOM BOOTANIMATION STATUS: [YES]
SU.D SUPPORT STATUS: [YES]
Place the ROM on your external SD. Go to wipe options in TWRP and wipe all but external SD, then flash the ROM no need for supersu as I have enabled it at system level. If you run into connection issues, flash the odin files I have included, go through the normal setup and enable usb debugging in developer options and re install your TWRP and then wipe as previously mentioned & flash the ROM again. Wifi and data should now be working. Enjoy and report back with your results and logs if you need help =) I appreciate your support ?
