I already have the device, like a lot of ppl.

I have never used twrp but heard it can sometimes take a very long time to do certain things. (like 10 min to clear cache)
Can anyone who uses this tell me how well it works on the device.

I have used TWRP for over a year now and ask I can say is that it's the only recovery i will use. I have used a few on my devices.
If there are delays like you suggest that may be device related.
Everything works on the N5 and quickly, no lag.

Not speaking for the N5 yet( mine will be here Monday ) but TWRP does almost everything faster than CWM IMO.

Always used it, no issues at all, it's superior to CWM in every way

Just used this to successfully create a backup, seemed to work fine. Doesn't seem to detect system time correctly though (shows the date as 1970 and the wrong time even when selecting the correct time zone)

love twrp so much. Thank you

Have you tried flashing a rom or something yet? I'm a bit wary about using new versions of recoveries after things that happened on the N4 in the past..

Guys....
Dunno if it's just me, but after flashing this recovery - I lost GSM
I've just had to flash the Stock firmware from scratch to get any mobile signal back!. Hopefully just an issue with me(?)

Works perfect thanks!

I lost GSM yesterday too but that was after I unlocked the bootloader which was strange. All I had to do was a factory reset to get it back.
I have come to Expect weird things like this to happen when flashing, especially on new versions of android.
Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk

Ah - So it isn't just me then.
Good to know. I wasn't too alarmed - I knew I'd always be able to get it back to "OTB" state.
Think I'll wait for things to mature a bit!

+1
Can´t wait to get my nexus5 to test it

This is a request of moving this thread of moving this thread to the Original Android Development Section.
As stated in one of the purposes of the section, it is a section for all the work done originally or from scratch in which a official release should be.
Also as stated : " Official releases/development of such original ROMs, perhaps posted by the maintainer or their nominated person."
There is no word of recovery but official recovery builds always go to the original section.

(WIP) Ubuntu Touch

Ubuntu Touch Developer Preview for the Fascinate
// It took me a while to get it right, but here it is.
//Camera works, wireless internet works.
Haven't checked sound.
Don't know if phone or SMS works.
Need testers.
//How to install: DO A BACKUP FIRST!
Get the zip here Then get this. Go to recovery, do a wipe/factory reset.
//Flash the first zip, don't reboot yet. Go to Mounts and Storage, mount /data and then format it or it won't work.
//Then flash the second zip and reboot.
//After you reboot, don't do an apt update. It seems to bork things up for me. Using adb on your computer, type 'phablet-flash -d grouper -b' (to update to the latest).
Enjoy.
The above is the old way. Thanks to UnjustifiedDev the new build is below:
"Ubuntu touch
1. Download bootstrap http://goo.im/devs/Unjust/Fascinate/...scinatemtd.zip
2. Download preinstall http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/ubuntu-tou...blet-armhf.zip
yes it is 300+mb make sure you have space on your sdcard for it
3. Download layout fix http://goo.im/devs/Unjust/Fascinate/...layout_fix.zip
4. Reboot to recovery wipe data etc then flash bootstrap file first the cm-10.1 zip then reboot recovery
5. in ubuntu's purple recovery flash the saucy zip takes a while to flash make sure your battery is charged
6. Flash layout fix right after saucy zip completes then reboot
7. Note this a preview not a daily driver it is pretty cool but it lacks full features. Wifi works idk if sound works or data my phone is not in service
Source https://github.com/Ubuntu-Fascinate I did fix the layout no need for an extra zip next build "
You are the man, Unjust!!
Remember, it's just a developer preview at this point. Not much you can do with it right now.
Redwolves (meandmine)
[
Since the Fascinate is not my daily driver, I have no way to test 3G or SMS. Anyone want to give a try and post your results?
Thanks, Redwolves
I will keep this updated as much as I can. I'll also put detailed instructions an my github page for anyone who wants to compile their own.
I will put up the instructions on my github page tonight. I'll link to it here when I do.

I followed the porting guide. Commented out AriesParts and Samsung-something-or-other in a makefile in /devices. Patched /kernel/samsung/aries/fs/proc/array.c and /kernel/samsung/aries/arch/arm/configs. I did some other other patches to a makefile in /build. I played with it for about a month using just the phablet-armhf.zip. I had it booting for about 15 seconds after a while. I was going through logcats and trying to trace them back to any warnings thrown during compilation.
Then I found out it uses the grouper image. Voila, instant boot. I left the changes in the source, though.

Issue: Video preview in AOSP Camera is distorted
Resolution: Use google camera till fix is found.
I love this rom. I found it on rootzwiki and flashed. I've been waiting on an aosp rom with true multiwindow.(which is a little buggy). The only reason I'm not running it now is because hot spot doesn't work yet (gta v junky). Hopefully yall get that worked out soon

It's really nice to know that there is still somebody of the CM who decided to not to fall in the marketing trap..anyway, on my note 2 every custom rom i tried lags..in games, in ui, it's not as smooth as on my older optimus g wich i came from...theoretically OG and N2 should be almost the same as smoothness, so before i download it can you just make a nice video about this rom and the feautres it contains? Themes are supported? and battery is as stock or its like miui (drain like hell?)?
Thank you and don't give up with all of this
always nice to see a completely new rom
and ofcourse, seeing that there's devs who worked on cm previously, now bring their own rom means it could be something genuinly awesome
as soon as its actually up and downloadable (as a few seconds ago the rom wasn't there yet in the n7105 folder) i'll flash and try it ^^

Because it isn't ready yet. There is nothing much to show yet... You can consider this a testing phase. We are trying to iron out all device specific bugs, so once the real feature are ready, you wouldn't have to wait.

yeah it doesn't actually say whether or not it's for SS, but it being AOSP is kinda obvious it wouldn't work on a non-mdk device. I also remember evervolv from my og evo too!

I successfully flashed this, and it booted fine. I had to de-select "Don't allow old update-binary" in recovery to successfully flash GAPPS. I use Philz-Touch recovery.
After booting, the setup wizard ran okay and I had WiFi and mobile data. The APN was set to "MobiPCS", but I did have a connection to Verizon Wireless.
Got nightlies now.
New build Huge speed increase.
How to flash in twrp? Mine just fails complaining about updating binaries or something.

[ROM] Stock 5.1 | LMY47D | 3/11 | Odexed |

I'm just going to go ahead and leave this here. I have yet to test it since I no longer own the device but it's the same thing as my 5.0.2 stock ROM so I see no reason why it shouldn't work. Reason I started new thread just for this is because bigxie's thread was closed sadly .
Features (Not Really, Just Stock Crap)
Odexed
NO ROOT (Want it? Download THIS and flash it afterwards)
100% Stock - No modifications
Can flash over existing stock 5.0.2 ROM
Want to update from 5.0.2 to 5.1? Follow these steps.
Download this ROM and go into your recovery.
Flash this ROM WITHOUT WIPING ANYTHING!
If you want to root or keep your root flash over the file above next to the "NO ROOT" text.
Then click Wipe Cache/Dalvik and slide.
Reboot.
.....
Profit?
Want a fresh new start on android 5.1?
You guys already know the drill its a nexus for ****s sake. Download ROM, Reboot to recovery, wipe everything except internal sd card, and OTG, flash ROM. Profit? Not hard
Now to the good stuff:
LMY47D Android 5.1 - Broken for now.

Oh yeah did I mention that this is just a test and the first few people are basically guinea pigs. I am not RESPONSIBLE FOR WHAT HAPPENS TO YOUR DEVICE, YOU ARE FLASHING UNDER THE CONSENT THAT IT CAN POSSIBLE BREAK YOUR DEVICE (EXTREMELY UNLIKELY). If people report that is working then its all good if not then I will make a few adjustments and it should be fine and all. Worst thing that can happen is Google Play Services crashing upon setup (For clean flashes of course).
Thanks!!!!!

Yup, it flashes successfully after awhile. Stays at boot animation for quite a bit on first boot. Reverts to boot animation at end of optimizing apps (where it says starting apps), happened for 3 times before I gave up and flashed something else.
loop at optimizing apps 3-5times...lol
Can not get passed boot animation

I flashed this rom with SuperSU and double wipe. When I boot into the system, I could not jump out of the "Optimizing apps" loop.
After 4 times of loop, I gave it up.
Same problem for me too - boots, updates apps, gets to "starting", then just reboots and starts updating apps again.
Was this even tested?!
Shame as I find it handy to have an installable version of the vanilla ROM to hand.

You're right I didn't.
But what's the point in putting up something that's completely untested (and apparently doesn't even work)?
Pointless waste of time IMO

Guess you didn't read the 'Other (DISCLAIMER-READ)' part of the OP then.
Big thanks for carrying on Bigsys work. I was going to put my phone to stock uprooted to get the update. He did a lot for us here and I'm glad you are carrying on where he left off. Very good job, BTW)

[WIP][ROM][PORT] MIUI v7 for Nexus 6P

Hi everybody in the Nexus 6p forum!
Today I want to present you my (actually Work-in-progress) port of MIUI v7
It's based on the stock build MTC19T and the MIUI itself it was ported using this guide (which I don't know if it's right, i used 2nd e 3rd post method) from the Mi Note (not pro) cause has similar specs of our beloved device.
The rom doesn't work at the moment, and I'm still working on to make it bootable and usable. I'm asking for a little bit of help doing this, since it's my first public rom, and my first port!
ADB shows up in device manager on windows, but no device is there when I type "adb devices". So I need to start fixing that first. Also, the rom bootloops forever, ATM.
I invite any developer or non-developer to try it and help me get this adb working, so I can debug it.
You can reach me here on XDA or on hangouts at cappy95 (at) gmail.com

Download files:
Download from Mega.co.nz
Note: you need at least WinRAR 5.x or 7zip to extract this file.
Please do not mirror this rom without permission, just ask, if mega it's a problem for you.
Instructions:
Code:
0) You need a TWRP recovery installed
1) Put your Nexus to bootloader mode
2) Open a command prompt where you have your fastboot located
3) Type "fastboot flash system" without quotes and drag onto the terminal the system.img file
4) Type "fastboot flash boot" without quotes and drag onto the terminal the boot.img file
5) Reboot to recovery
6) Do a factory reset
7) Go to Mount and mount Data and System partitions
8) Flash or sideload the additional file
9) Wait forever at the bootanimation, it doesn't get past it.
TODO:

- Make the ROM usable

Still not done yet... and I also have problems with ADB, and I'm still not sure if it's my PC or just the adb playing dumb... Today I try to debug it from one of my vmware machines, maybe linux helps a bit there.

Good luck man! :good:
It would probably be a faulty ADB setup or something similar.
Should've really went with the first method. Its a bit more difficult at first but you will end up with a more finished product. The method that you're taking will involve you having to hack together fixes.

Patchrom is only for 4.4.4 Kitkat. There's no kitkat for our device, nor will never be. That's why I had to use the third method, is the ONLY way to get MIUI on marshmallow.
I also prefer compiling over hacking things together, because you mess up things, but there's no source of MIUI whatsoever, especially for 6.x...
Wouldnt it be easier to try porting from nexus 5 rom? http://en.miui.com/extra.php?mod=rom/download&r=232&mobile=no
Or no difference whatsoever since it has different cpu?

It does use 4.4.4 KitKat.
Don't look at the version, because MIUI has 3 indipendent versioning systems, as far as I understand it.
1) The android version (which can be anything from 4.4.4 to 6.x)
2) The UI version (v6,v7,v8)
3) The rom version (6.5.12 atm writing)
All of those are indipendent, so I can have a MIUI v7 (latest) rom version 6.5.12 on android 4.4.4, 5.x or 6.x.
So yeah, it does have a different CPU and ALSO, a different android version.
So, by the first rule of porting, you CAN'T port roms with different sdk versions.
There are unfortunately no shortcuts... I searched the whole intenets to a better and different way of doing this... No luck. It could become easier once they release MIUI on 6.x on Mi Note pro, but for now, the closest device we can use to port is Mi note (Snap 801 - 32 bit processor).
Also, I tried to port also from Mi 5 (which should help, since is 820, 64 bit) but surprisingly, that didn't even made past the boot.
So yeah, I'm running out of ideas, I tried nearly EVERYTHING, last thing I can do is debug by kmesg, but it will take months to just get past that bootanimation. But I guess is the only way out...
Thanks for clarification, and sucks to hear that! Yeah appears there are no sd 808 or 810devices running miui 7 based on marshmallow, this is best shot and its a long one
Maybe this can help, mi note pro is snap 810

wow at last its here!
I might be able to help with ADB [emoji14]

I'd love to have miui working on the 6p. I hope you can make it happen and I can't wait to test it out!
