Few answers and suggestions needed - HTC One X+

Hey bro's just today I got my new HTC one x+ and I had ordered it online so it's an international unlocked phone. The phone is on android 4.1 and sense 4+ (stock and not rooted) so I checked for software updates but it said the phone is already up to date and no updates are available , though I guess HTC has rolled out 4.2.2 sense 5 for one x+ (right ?) . Also, I've noticed the phone stays connected to WiFi and yet the pages won't load, sometime WiFi just disconnects, though the internet is working just fine on my other phone . Further the apps from play store too take a butt load of time to start downloading and often get stuck midway while downloading. So guys would u suggest to get the phone checked up at HTC for manufacturing defects Or have some of you faced similar problems but have rooted and used custom Roms (if so which ?) to solve it. My phone isn't in for hardware warranty and I'm sorta noob at this stuff so please take this into consideration too. I'll be really grateful for your help

My advice will be basic but may be efficient:
Have you tried to factory reset your phone? If you bought a used or refurbished device, this may help.
I'm from Europe and have an unlocked version and can confirm that the update finished rolling out early September + I never experienced any of your problems.
You would also check if you have those download problems on both Wi-Fi and 3g. If so, this may be a hint of some sort.

[Q] Official Radio HTC HERO ( Netherlands )

Hi Guys & Girls
First of all LOVE this website
i installed many roms for my HTC Hero but it always seems that i really have bad connection/reception ( dont know how you spell that )
when people call it takes up to 45 min before i get an text that i missed a call and many times i dont even get them. Next day i receive them. If i call someone it takes 3 tries before i hear the dial tone.
I have installed the following radio 63.18.55.06JU_6.35.09.26 from this topic http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=559622 but is this the official radio from HTC. If not..... where can i get it ?
Thanks keep the hero alive!
Your Radio firmware is from the stoneage Check this site for more info:
http://www.villainrom.co.uk/forum/s...ero-Radio-Roms-Download-Links&highlight=radio
But are those the official HTC ( dutch ) radio. Why do i ask........ before i installed custom roms/radios i never had problems.
I'm not sure which Radio is included with the latest official HTC ROM, but I'm dutch too and I'm running the latest version from the above site and have no problems whatsoever.
Btw, I'm running the latest CyannogenMod nightly
oke thats too bad i will install the latest and hope that i dont have problems anymore. Im currently running Elelinux-7.0.0.-RC1-Hero-v0.9 ( love this on by the way )
thread can be closed ( i think dont know what the rules are but my question is answered )
thanks
Hey,
Thats strange, try updating your radio... they aren't region specific, just get the latest... I'm german and did the same and it worked perfectly
but by the way u're using elelinux... i experienced very different signal strength on elelinux from one to another build.. on 0.9, perfect, got more signal strength than ever had, on 1.1.1 - catastrope. try updating or something if this doesn't work out maybe contact ele for infos, best if u post a message in his thread, i didn't get an answer to PM.
greets, Summoner
Hi there
so i thought it went good but too bad last night happened the same thing i got 2 texts around 23:27 (11 am) and the time of the text that were sent was 21:48(am) please help me I DONT WANT A NEW HTC HERO ( i like it )
thanks
Your problems can be caused for different reasons and you need to rule out all of these to find your answer.
Sent time definition
The time you said was the sent time, is that the time it was really sent or is that the systemtime of the provider or phone it was sent with? I really don't know this
Software problems
You are using an experimental OS probably with lots of apps installed. To make sure these are not causing your problem you should flash the latest HTC RUU and try again.
Provider problem
Hard to find out, but could be the cause. Both your provider as well as the provider of the person who sent you the message. In busy times text messages are sent later, for instance New Year
Good luck investigating

thanks for this here are my answers...
1.Well the hero uses the time of the provider ( option "automatic" in date & time )
2. Correct i have an custom rom i just counted the programs and there are 6 installed ( exclusiv.....google maps & google apps ) the official RUU can be found in http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=559622 ?????
3. Called t-mobile 2 times about this problem but the nearest antenna is 200m from my house so that shouldnt be a problem. ( my guess )
im going to install the official RUU and will post my findings.
thanks keep the hero alive
Hi ya'll i have a problem
when im trying to install the official RUU i get the following error
ERROR[131]: CUSTOMER ID ERROR

hi people
ive got it working again i just downloaded the official RUU from HTC and i needed to enter my s/n number. after install there were 3 updates so i installed them to. Now lets hope everything works as normal.
Ok, good to hear you got it running. Let me hear if your problem is solved now. At least you can't blame your phone OS if it still isn't fixed

Screen unresponsive after wakeup is hardware problem. Fix using software found.

UPDATED:-
A lot of member found that software fix is working. Please read throught the thread.
I found out that a lot of people using Mozart have this problem. And many blame this on software.
But its not. Its hardware problem. I create this thread to solve this once and for all. If your screen is unresponsive after wakeup from sleep, its HTC LCD touch screen problem. Send it back to HTC.
It happened to my HTC Mozart too. I send it back and I got a new HTC Mozart. The screen is super reponsive.
My Mozart is fine, push the power button and immediatly as the screen lights up slide my finger upwards and it unlocked perfectly and responds normally
Although I have had it where I unlock the device and something happens and then the screen doesn't respond. I then just lock it, unlock it and its fine. I say something happens as I really dunno what happens and can't really remember but it was not just a wake up from sleep thing.
That has only happened twice or so.
Thanks KK. I too thought it was software problem. Will send my device to service center after the festive holidays.
i think this is software .Forum in China, many people brush t-mobile's rom, this is no problem .and you can set a screen password key,This problem will be much better
Microsoft officials have told htc this problem
it's a software problem confirm
when you send it back theyll just ship you back a new calibrated screen mozart with the same hardware, becaue when i broungt my mozart to a htc service center in thailand they told me that the factory rom is defected and need to be calibrated, so i let them calibrate the screen for me. After half an hour i got my phone back with super responsive screen. no more lockscreen lag or slide to answer/endcall problem
edt*
some of my friends fixed it by flashinh a new rom

I had an HTC 7 Mozart from T-Mobile DE but it kept restarting itself with T-Mobile ROM or with Europe ROM. So i send it to HTC for repair. They sent me a new Mozart with the latest T-Mobile ROM and i even upgraded the HTC Update in Zune but the left side of screen is unresponsive and it affects all the screen to. I then flashed the Europe ROM, even updated to Mango RTM, made a reset, but the problem remains and i'm going to have to send it to HTC again.
If its a bad screen calibration or not, its HTC fault and hardware fault, not software. I haven't been able to solve this with any ROM or software upgrade or reset. It's definatly a hardware/HTC issue.
op you are wrong
how is it a hardware problem if its solved after flashing the stock rom back on?
it happened 2 times on mine with debranded roms
and dissapeared each time after flashing tmo_de back on
now im on official tmo_de nodo, if it returns, i will probably sell it

Hi! I think u are right, so I'm trying to find an unbranded rom for my phone that is compatible with Italy.
Can u help me to find one ?
it was a hardware issue for my device... they replaced the LCD and i have not had any problems. my only beef is that i had to send mine back to Australia for repair; it took 6 months before my device was returned to me!

Maybe it has to do with some devices, but i received my HTC Mozart from Tmob de with nodo with this issue. I unbranded to an Europe rom and the problem remained. I even went to Mango RTM and the problem is always there.
Lastly so i can send the phone to Tmob de again and use the warranty i reflashed to latest tmob de ROM (1.32) and checked: the problem is there. I even got the HTC update on Zune but nothing solved my problem.
So my issue is definitely a hardware problem... This is a new device HTC send me, because the 1st one kept restarting, this one has the touch screen problem and i hope the 3rd one will be ok!!
I have 2 major issues about HTC support care:
1- If i bought a phone on Germany i cant use the warranty in Portugal - it has to be on Germany! This is very annoying
2- Since the launch, none of the HTC phones with WP7 can send nor receive MMS messages on TMN network from Portugal. Other networks work fine, and other WP7 phones also work fine. This has something to do with a bad configuration that HTC Connection Setup makes on the phone for the TMN network. They know this issue since day one and almost a year later they haven't been able to solve it, despite several updates the HTC Connection Setup had!! Incredible!
i have the same problme i think i should wait for the mango update to see if the problme remains before sending it back
little update here
as i said reflashing it fixes the problem, but only for the moment
i can absolutely guarantee that after reflash, 10 days ago i could unlock the phone by dragging the wallpaper , starting from the minute number going to the top,
NOW, 10 days later and after nodo update- not sure if it matters, it wont unlock unless i do it on the edges of the screen
time to buy another phone,
too bad because i really liked wp7, simple and functional(mango that is) nodo is for the year 2008
looking for a unibody phone, probably desire s
another update, now for the second half of the day my phone works fine, after putting it on sale...
this is what i did after i last saw the problem
1. started music, didnt play it
2. switched on data connection and 3g -started internet
3. switched them off
stayed in pocket of cloth pants
4. took a call 1 failed unlock
5. tried some more unlocks
6. internet on 3g on internet, stayed on wooden bench then youtube and played sata launch, internet off
stayed in pocket
7. switch on data connection and 3g, browse internet
8. played games: sata launch and fastball 2
took 2 calls, unlock worked
left internet and 3g on
now after ~5 hours left alone on leather wallet it works flawlessly every time
i mentioned the surroundings because i thought it had connection with static energy, grounding
so here it is, my guess is 3g on but i cant explain it
i will leave it on
ill tell you more, if its normal from now on im not selling it
Sent my Mozart last Friday and got it back this afternoon. The Service Center reflashed the ROM. After 6 hours the lock screen is still working good.
Was informed by them that they already have Mango 7720 final release and testing it. Release date is yet to be confirmed.
I had this problem and after updating the HTC firmware it almost never happens. So I bet this is a HTC firmware problem.
not only htc
i heard it happened on omnia also
mine works as it should
im happy
After applying the new firmware included with the leaked 7720 Mango ROM, I have not had this problem once
The only solution that worked for me, is installing this rom:
RUU_Mozart_TMO_DE_1.28.111.03_5.52.09.16_22.33a.50 _RELEASE from
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=857561
After that, i installed the available updates through Zune, all works smoothly now.
I have this rom for months, everything is ok, so it s NOT a hardware problem.

If you need certain ROM only your touchscreen can work, it IS hardware problem. Means the touchscreen is very flaky.
The touchscreen supposed to work especially with official ROM. And supposed to work with any ROM.
It just means your touchscreen is bordering failure. I wouldn't want to keep the touchscreen if I were you....
I mean, if a customer who is not so inclined to flash their phone, if they change the phone hardware to a new one with official ROM without touchscreen problem, it will just mean it is HARDWARE problem.
HTC firmware no problem. I'm using HTC firmware fine thank you.
"If you need certain ROM only your touchscreen can work, it IS hardware problem."
I have to say that i strongly disagree with your statement.
It is not just a certain ROM, it is the stock ROM.
When i bought my Mozart the screen worked perfectly.
I flashed new ROMs for a couple of times and i saw the screen had problems.
Then i reverted back to the stock ROM RUU_Mozart_TMO_DE_1.28.111.03_5.52.09.16_22.33a.50 _RELEASE and everything works perfectly.
If someone has a responsiveness problem with the stock ROM, then it might be a hardware problem.

i do like the os and im fine with the phone must just be my phone ill get a replacement
Replace that unit.
On some forums they have problems with the nand oft the titan it causes random freezes
Connection Problems
Sorry no freezing problems, windows phone os is from my view of point the best for me ...I'm since 2004 Blackberry user and i tried many months with iphone and also with android, no of them i was able to use nearly as my blackberries. Windows phone was the first touch screen handy which is created also for users which need to message much on days.
coming back to the thread, guys i have connection problems with the HTC TITAN, gsm and data connection is more then 30-40% bad then my blackberry bolds 9900/9700/9780. What do you think could that be a hardware problem or is that going on on all HTC TITAN's?
Thanks in advance
update : returned the phone got a new titan got it home to find it had the same issues, after some hours on the phone and in store eventually got a non like for like exchange and switched to the sensation xe
Gosh, that's weird. I hope nothing like that happens when I get mine.
Titan is very smooth. Strange you got 2 in a row like that. Very strange.
No issue with HTC Ultimate
No freezing, only that wierd keybord bug here.
Got mine HTC Ultimate (the Titan here in Brazil) from Vivo. The fastest and fluid smartphone I ever had.
Will sell my HD7 in 2 weeks =)
No freezing, no keyboard bug for me
I've been using my Titan for a week now. I have only experienced one valid app crash by typing with the virtual keyboard. The app is called: ask the crowd.
HTC Titan Problems
Got the Titan yesterday , when i was configuring the outlook mail i could not complete it because the phone kept backing to the home screen by it self , could not fill in the req information to sync with my work mail server because of that
also when i was browsing the web the phone backed again to the home screen
today at work the phone just rebooted by it self
i have no idea whats really the problem , reset the phone didnt help
called HTC they said to contact the seller and get a replacement , they are sending one tomorrow as i got worried it might be a problem with this specific model and after reading some of the posts
used HD7 for 6 months now and not a single problem , its just the titan is a good step ahead if it worked as good as the HD7

[Q] ARIA random reboot??

first i wanna thank you guys for this awesome forum
i have an AT&T aria phone that randomly reboots
LIBERTY PVT SHIP S-OFF
HBOOT-1.02.0000
MICROP-831b
TOUCH panel-stn21_03
radio-7.16.35.11
Nov 4 2010
the phone is rooted with CWM v2.5.0.1 istalled.
i flashed the original ATT rom 2.2 from HTC website and it didnt fix it
i flashed shipped att rom and it didnt fix.. also flashed rooted rom yet no luck
1-i tried to unlock the bootloader with HTCDEV.COM but it gives me error message
fastboot oem get_identifier_token
...INFO[err] command error
2-i tried to use the revolutianary website and no luck either
3-i tried to put the original img on the sd card LIBEIMG.zip and booted into bootloader but the phone didnt recognize the file at all.
i am a newbie in the android word but i can swear i did every thing by the book in these last 3 steps** at least as i could understand**
p.s: i dont know wut or who did this to this phone
This is sort of a long shot, but did you happen to install a 32GB SD card around the time the problem started happening?
If not, did you change ANYTHING else? new SIM card? new charger? etc.
nope i did not install 32 GB card..
i dont know exactly what happened to this phone.. i took it AS IS..
when i first got the phone it had the original at&t 2.2 stock S-off ... i was lucky to flash CWM using fastboot..
i think if i can install HBOOT again and turn S on this might solve the problem... or may be i need to do something to the partitions but as i told u im a newbie in here
i am sure it is a software problem due to the error message i get when i try to unlock the bootloader...
I tried everything: stock AT&T Froyo rom, returned to S-on, new sd card, new sim card. Also returned to HTC for "repair," but it still rebooted so I returned to HTC for another try.
BTW, I used the Unrevoked method to root/S-off the phone, and the S-on method listed in the development forum to take the phone back to stock. Both with no problem (several times). The S-on was a little trickie, had to load stock AT&T rom, then follow the S-on instructions, which includes loading the stock AT&T Froyo rom again.
I'll report the results of my 2nd HTC repair on the 2 Arias reboot problem thread.

Don't try to do that. HBOOT 1.03 will not fix your problem, it'll only make it worse (not being able to easily S-OFF). You should avoid HTC's official bootloader unlocking method -- it's worse than Revolutionary.
thank u drumist...
i tried already but no luck.. it says device ID error..
i am so desperate in here.. is there anyway i can fix this aria??
To my surprise I had called HTC and found out that my phone was still under warranty. As I said above, the phone is now back at HTC for a 2nd try. I will let you know what they found as soon as I get the phone back -- it took about a week last time.
Drumist was very supportive in my effort to find the problem, and against his advice and out of desperation, I did restore the HBOOT, and, as he said above, it did not solve the problem. The phone was back to being completely stock -- ATT Froyo 2.2 and S-ON -- and it sill had random reboots --taking anywhere from 1 minute to almost an hour before rebooting. Which is really annoying when trying to troubleshoot. I even re-rooted and S-Off'd the phone using Revolutionary, and still had the problem. I then returned the phone to stock again prior to sending it to HTC for repair. Checked one more time... still random rebooting. As I am now using another phone -- Atrix 4G -- solving this has become more of a challenge.
The other thing that's amazing is that I have 2 ATT Arias with exactly the same problem!
I wonder if it is a location thing. You don't happen to reside in SE Pennsylvania do you?
the same thing has been happening to me. it just started happening recently.
about 10-20 times a day the phone just buzzes and goes straight to the white HTC turning on background.
it's very annoying.

I have to agree with you, it is really annoying. Luckily I dont use my phone very often. I dont think it is location based, as I'm in eastern Iowa.
Ok. Just got my Aria back from HTC after their 2nd attempt at at fixing the random reboot problem. It rebooted within 5 minutes of turning it on! And twice after that.
The only thing I did was put in the battery. No SD or SIM card, and I did not plug in a battery charger. I didn't even have a chance to connect to my wifi.
I will call HTC tomorrow and anticipate sending it back to HTC for a 3rd try.
I really thought they would send me a new phone after the 2nd attempt at fixing it. Although now I'm really curious about what could be causing this.
It's interesting that that there are more reports about this problem. I had rooted and installed multiple roms before restoring it to stock AT&T Froyo prior to returning it to HTC for repair. Has anyone had this random reboot problem on a phone that was never rooted?
Oh well. I will probably be sending it back to HTC tomorrow, and will keep you posted about the results.
Sent from my MB860 using XDA
I am having the same issues...luckily I now have the HTC One X, however I do still use the Aria as a dedicated GPS, which is frustrating having CONSTANT reboots.
This also only happened recently...I wonder what the issue could be...
Reboot saga
Just spoke to HTC about their failed 2nd attempt to repair my phone. They told me the repair records state that they replaced the "main board," which I assume is like the mother board.
If that is true, I would assume that would be like getting a new phone. If that doesn't fix it, I am truly baffled. The ONLY thing I did was put the old fully charged battery in the phone to test it -- without a SIM or SD card . Could the problem be related to the battery? Since I have another Aria (with its own battery) with the same problem, I doubt it.
Regardless, HTC is having me send it back for a 3rd try to fix it, and they sent me a prepaid shipping label this time.
They said if the 3rd repair attempt doesn't fix it, they would send it to a higher level repair facility for a 4th try! I can't complain about HTC's commitment to trying to repair my phone.
From the responses on this thread, this has become a recent problem. Mine started about a month ago. Any theories out there?
Thanks for sharing your experiences yar, however I'll be dealing with the reboots cause I cant go that long without my phone.
Another thought I had while driving yesterday, Do your guy's that reboots, happen usually after you press the lock button? I've noticed after I send a text message and I hit the lock button is mostly when it will restart. Anyone think it would be that button causing the problem or maybe the HTC Sense Lockscreen?
While I'm waiting for HTC to return my phone after their 3rd attempt to fix this problem I have been experimenting with my other Aria.
I booted into CWM and left it there for over an hour and the phone did not reboot. Does this helps isolate the problem?
Also, has anyone managed to stop a random reboot problem?
Sent from my MB860 using XDA
Just got my Aria back from HTC after their 3rd attempt, and it rebooted within 10 minutes. I even used a new battery, thinking that somehow that was causing the problem. No sim or sd card, and I did not even log onto wifi. They claim they replaced the "main board." Its hard to believe they actually tested it.
Probably beating a dead horse, but I will take HTC up on their offer to send it to the next level of service for a 4th try at fixing the problem. Can't believe it wouldn't be more cost effective to just send me a new phone at this point... but then there might not be any new Arias available.

try setting the Aria data comm to Edge only
I've been following this thread with interest since I have an Aria with AT&T "service" and have been experiencing the random reset problems described here. I have not rooted the phone and have the stock 2.2.2 release side loaded through HTC Sync. After several attempts to isolate the problem, I think I may have stumbled across something that works (so far, no reboots in the last 11 hours, but, that is not conclusive evidence yet). Try using the "hidden test feature" by entering *#*#4636#*#* on the dialer keypad. Then under the "Phone information" section select "GSM only". I understand that this forces the phone to use only the Edge data format.
I think there may be a problem with the Aria's firmware that communicates with the 3G network. I was able to use 3G successfully in the past year, but, something must have changed recently in the way AT&T configured this network or at least I suspect that a recent network change has caused these problems with our phones. You would think that AT&T and HTC would be aware of such a problem by now since I imagine many of us are affected. I'm leaving my phone on Edge until I see evidence that the problem has been resolved.

I will have to give this a try, as for HTC and ATT knowing, they probably don't care and I dont really blame them this is a 2 year old phone.

Phone reboots several times a day v2.13.651.1, does anyone else have this issue?

Hi, I've scoured the forums here looking to see if anyone else had this problem. I found an old thread started back in May, but I am concerned with firmware 2.13.651.1 (the latest OTA). Since installing this update my phone now restarts 3-4 times per day, usually while idle sitting untouched on my desk. I hear a "buzz", look over and my phone is on the HTC startup screen. No rhyme or reason, just a completely random restart.
A little history, I had this problem OOB with version 1.13.651.1, it went away with OTA #1 - 1.22.651.3 (which had it's own problems, including lockup/overheating 3-4 times a day) and it returned with OTA #2 - 2.13.651.1. I am HTC Unlocked and have SuperSU/BusyBox installed, however I doubt those are my issue. Obviously I am running stock ROMs.
I've tested by doing a complete factory reset and letting the phone sit there idle on the startup wizard. Within hours it had restarted itself despite being untouched. I don't see a huge number of folks complaining about this issue here, so it must be hardware, yes? Do you think I got a bum unit?
I had this happen once today.. this is my second day on the new kernel.do not know if it was a fluke or related to your issue

That is definitely not normal. You may want to relock and take it into Sprint. I have never experienced a reboot and I've had my phone since launch week. Or try a custom roms like MeanRom and see if you have better luck. You're already upgraded to the new base so you can just download and flash it.

Yep. I'm on EVO LTE #5. Strange part 2 and 4 did not have reboots. 1,3 and 5 do. Drives me nuts and sprint techs are clueless. With the lastest update it gives you a log of exactly why it had the errors. Yesterday I brought the log to the sprint repair and he said it was meant for HTC, not them.
I'm otherwords, he had no clue on how to read the log.
I'm hoping they fix this crap soon..they will not replace the phone anymore yet they can't fix it. I hate Sprint
Edit. Mine is stock, have not had one working good, long enough to root

Well, I took it into Sprint and yes they were clueless. Best they could offer me was to flash me back one version to the one the had blank notifications and overheated. I declined and went to HTC. They immediately issued an RMA. While I am not excited to get a refurb unit, I certainly am fed up with the constant reboots. Good thing I kept my old EVO 3D just in case.
FYI, I sent it back to HTC unlocked (but not S-OFF). I like to live dangerously.
