New binaries from Texas Instrument - Motorola Droid RAZR

Despite Texas Instrument has closed, it has just released the new binaries for the chipset of galaxy nexus, brother of the one mounted in our razr. I hope that this information can be useful to developers, good luck and long live to Razr

It's great news, but, unfortunately, you've posted it in the wrong section. The "Development" section is the place for threads about ROMs, Kernels, and Android Software development. Those kind of informative threads should be posted on "General" section.

Auhmm... sorry
Can someone move?

Since the Nexus is also OMAP 4, would that mean roms/kernels for that device would work on the RAZR?

EDIT: No need for this - we have it since 8 months in the kernel - and it's newer than GNEX ones:
GNEX: [email protected]
RAZR: [email protected]
That's just because Gnex users have 4460 - we have 4430. I guess the're using different binaries.
Check in TErminal:

Google does not update SGX DDK binaries(kern module and userspace libs) since 4.0.4. Motorola do that for its 4.1.2 release. So GPU drivers definitely newer on Razr. But this will not solve 4.4 issues xD

Of course I've seen it
Regarding to hacking OMAP: Could you help me with the ducati binary? Need to fix it for use with modified kernel - but as you might know - it's closed source precompiled by Big Moto. The most highest supported kernel version is 3.0.88. Any idea how to make it better? Currently we have working 720p video recording - with some minor issues like Gallery FCs after saving the video file, and 1080p works with random lags sometimes - sometimes it works without any problem.
And what do you know about the HDMI drivers?
---------- Post added at 01:07 PM ---------- Previous post was at 12:40 PM ----------
With the attached mod in JBX Thread (last page) I am able to record 710p videos on 4.4 WITHOUT any issues. Using the Moto X cam!

Quoted from Android Police.com... "Basically, parts of the Linaro code have been submitted to the CM9 gerrit and are currently awaiting approval. Once commited, these tweaks will be added to the main CM9 code, giving all supported devices a drastic increase in performance."
CM9 is already implementing parts of it into there programming, so yes it is coming to Razr. Oh and SPC_Hicks has parts of it in one of his ROMS already...

No problems???
1. Linaro does not have drivers for many Razr devices (audio, camera and etc)
2. Linaro kernels very unstable (12.04 linaro kernel RELEASE even can't boot on Pandaboard!!!)
I have Pandaboard and Now I understand that Linaro is group of researchers that never release even beta versions....only APLHA. All Linaro builds have many bugs but instead of fix it they move forward to next Linux version with new features and bugs. ALL Linaro versions have big issues with NATIVE TI audio!!! 2 YEARS and they still can't fix it!!!
Are you still want alpha code from linaro???

saw that they've released jellybean for Droid Razr M.
Is it possible for a dev to port this jellybean build to the regular Droid Razr?

DROID RAZR (XT912)
ICS Upgrade (Android 4.0.4) rollout began in June 2012. Will be upgraded to Jelly Bean (Android 4.1)
So I believe that can be easily ported out to xt910 gsm version.
It looks like they don't give a f**c about EU xt910, they didn't even mention about JB upgrade:
"ICS Upgrade rollouts began in Q3 2012 for select countries and carriers".
I think we as XT910 users should start some kind of campaign to let motorola know that they should give a big FFFF about us !
so, according to the motorola site, the XT912 WILL get jellybean sometime !
ha...didn't know that.
so that makes this thread meaningless.
sorry for starting.
Moderator can delete this thread i errantly started.
sorry.
HTC said that about ICS on Desire HD, and finally we hadn't any official ICS. I hope we won't get the same story here

It will eventually come as it did with ICS. There is no diffrences between xt912 and the xt910 besides the radio (GSM and CDMA) have some patience
You guys seems to forget all about the locked bootloader and the regional signing of the partitions. If only the X912 get the upgrade we will be stuck with ICS kernels unless we erase the CID partition and boot with BP tools. If they gonna upgrade the X912 is totally unfair to left us behind the x910 users.

Overclock Module for MSM8x60

I believe some of you guys are looking for this, arent you?
As i didnt found anything about this in this forums, i thought i should bring this up to you.
i didnt tested, so i dont know if it will work, but i think you should know how to do it if you wanted to.
Its an overclock module to any MSM8x60 device, originally made for the Sensation and EVO 3D, but in theory, it works with the dual core S4 as well, since it is for "all" MSM8x60, and this "x" is a variable, so it can be for Both 8260 and 8660(S3 SoCs) and 8260A, 8660A, 8960,8960T(S4 SoCs)
And to make you happier, i heard the same applies to the GPU overclock module (made for S3, but didnt found it...). ;D

Im interested in finding out if this works also, would be nice to OC when im transferring large files from INT storage to my 64GB MicroSD while doing other things on the phone...
bump for and interesting thread. i hope this pans out.
i tested this modules in the xperia s and have seen this running in person in the american sgs 3, from ATT i think, it uses the same SoC(CPU+GPU) the razr hd does, so in theory it should work.
yet, to confirm it works in the razr hd, it need testing. but as some devs said, it is a universal module, so it works with all S4 krait SoC based devices, same for the GPU OC(sorry, id seen it somewhere, but still didnt found it...)

It doesn't work on a JB device.
From my device : Linux version 3.0.31-g59a8475 ([email protected]) (gcc version 4.4.3 (GCC) ) #1 SMP PREEMPT Sat Nov 3 08:11:31 PDT 2012
I'm pretty sure the files in this thread were built for a 2.6.1 kernel.
I tried and the module won't load. So we need to wait for someone to update the module for the 3.0.31 version.

Does it really matter? Almost no change from 4.2 to 4.3 . enjoy the stability and performance of 4.2 for now...... Later I'm pretty sure we'll get android 5.0

Sent from my XT912 using xda premium
Well, 4.3 is in progress. The main problem is that 4.3 includes some newer security updates - there aren't much UI related changes though, most of it is security stuff which affects the kernel in the first way. The problem we have is the current kexec kernel loading method which gives devtree errors during startup, and that causes only a black screen.
Kexec will get a workaround as Hashcode said. This may also include a higher kernel sublevel. Stay tuned and be patient...

The looks might be the same but under the hood there is hell of a change - trim support for once which makes my N7 fly like never before! It is really noticable...
On the other it may not work on razrs. We will see! But it is a bigger step (in performance) than between 4.1 and 4.2.

Yeah I don't know either, wish a Dev could explain this to me... The Optimum G has a mostly functioning Lollipop ROM according to a post I saw on G+ yesterday... Why would it be harder to build for us? Especially since so much of our hardware is similar to the Nexus 5...

You do not need a 5.0 kernel for the G2, older devices have newer versions of android w/o having the corresponding source. I'm using 4.4.4 on my Galaxy S1 just like my G2 (except the S1 obviously didn't receive 4.4.x).
