Homescreen spacing issue after soft key removal - G2 General

I know I'm nitpicking here but after I installed the GMD softkey remover it drops the home screen down just a bit and leaves a space up at the top. If it turn on the soft key spoof mode it just moves everything up and leaves a space at the bottom. Here are some pictures to show what I'm talking about. Red bars show area I'm talking about.

Soft key spoofing on
Is there a way to add some padding space above the dock buttons but below the homescreen grid? I've tried different launchers but I cant use the stock weather widget for some reason.

But then I lose my softkeys all together. I still need them to pop-up so I can navigate. Actually, how would you navigate without the softkeys completely?

LMT launcher, gives you keys similar to PIE controls.

Awesome, I'll give that a try.

In my case, I take em out (soft keys) and navigate and do much more with GMD Gesture Control.
Cheers!

Cool App--LMT

I'm not sure if anyone else has tried it, but LMT launcher (not really a launcher) DOES work on the DX2!! Only setback I've found so far is that "slices" used for app launching, literally show up as "app". This is fine for me though, because I'm just using it for toggles, and those icons are showing up--at least on CM7--I haven't tried it on anything else.
If what I've said confuses the mind, here are a few informative links!

This app would be perfect if I could figure out how to launch the stock task switcher from the pie. The task switcher button wouldn't work, and I have tried keying longpress of the soft home to trigger recent apps, but no luck. Long press of the search button (to trigger voice search) worked great.
Its a pretty cool idea. And it matches the browser quick controls so I like the consistency. I tried it out on my phone for a little while but ended up disabling it. I have so many ways already to quickly launch apps and get into settings etc. lol.
About the app icons, if you go into the settings and scroll all the way down, there is an option that says "Show app images". Set that to 1
funny..... in the youtube video you link, it shows how to make the app icon show up. just sayin. you made it sound like it didnt/wouldnt work or something.

[Q] BEST app to hide the navigation/home screen controls below the screen?

To make full use of the screen when gaming, I'd like to hide the navigation bar.
Can anyone recommend an app in which I can hold the power button down & select an option to hide the bar?
Thanks xda members.

Don't know any which have options tied into the power button though.
Ultimate Dynamic Navbar

Thank you both SweFox & liqn7. I will try both.
I went with GMD Auto Hide Soft Keys PRO...
Great app with many options. It does what it says. Now I can make full use of the 6.44'' screen.
Thank you guys.

Sorry for reading this topic so late, but I'll give my advice anyway: go for GMD Gesture, it has way more options than Auto Hide...

[Q] Change Media Volume

Hi there!
Is there any way how I can change the media volume on my Omate TrueSmart? There are no volume keys and in the settings I can only find the volume for calls and alarms - but where is media? Even if I switch to vibrate-mode games and other apps still play sound...

install trayvolume from the playstore
It allows you to change the volume from the notification bar
Thanks

Thank you. It worked great.
Also...if you want to root your TS and install Xposed, you can use GravityBox module to have this:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
You can set many other things like custom quick settings tiles, navigation bar, status bar tweaks, extended power menu (reboot, reboot to recovery...)
Or something that I really like - PIE control - great nav bar for small screen (you can add shortcut to app as well there)

Root apps galore!

Since we have finally gotten root, suggest all your root apps here.
I personally installed "ultimate dynamic navbar" right away, which not only got rid of that ugly have bar but also autohides it for more screen estate

Good topic. I hope more suggestions get posted. I have installed adblock plus.

I tried installing the module, but it won't hide the stock soft keys through xposed's safe setting. I had to use the build, dangerous, method to kinda get it to work, and now it only hides the soft keys while in apps, but they are still there while you're looking at the launcher and not in any app. So how did you get it to work.
You guys must know about this; if not, I suggest Greenify.
I use a two-finger swipe up gesture in Nova to auto-hibernate stuff.
Try auto hide softkeys app

Try the GMD Auto Hide softkeys APK in the play store
I bought the pro version because its more customization. Had it for a week now and its's worked flawless.

Fixing touch screen?

For some reasons, the upper part of my touch screen does not work any more although the screen display is perfectly fine. Hence, I cannot swipe down to see notifications, etc... It's kinda annoying.
Are there any fixes for this problem, preferably software fixes. Thank you so much.
I used a touchscreen test app to demonstrate the touch screen issue.

you can change the launcher and grab one that lets you swipe on the screen to bring the notif bar down... Think it MIGHT be apex launcher....

Let me know which launcher you found dude.
Nova can do it.I think Apex also.
Many launchers allow this, but if you don't want to change your launcher, I saw somewhere a "gesture control app" which allows to bind swipe down to some action. Or you can place an icon on the desktop to launch an app which expands the status bar.
